This bar lives up to its reputation. The cocktails are modern twists on classics. My biggest beef nowadays with so many cocktail lounges is a poorly balanced cocktails. This staple of SF maintains a reputation for quality and craftsmanship. The cocktails were well balanced and flavorful. Great walk back in time with this gem.

Best bar in town for real cocktails. It's difficult to get a good Penicillin. Here you get it. And try the cocktails on the menu. You will skip all the other fancy bars in the future.

Read good things about this place and they are all true! We stopped here for happy hour today. Our drinks were thoughtfully crafted and well balanced. Not only was our bartender great at what he does, he was also knowledgeable about the city and made some great recommendations.

Classic, old world SF bar with a great vibe. Solid Guinness, great classic cocktails, and I love that they play music appropriate to the environment (jazz, Sinatra, funk, Beatles etc) and it’s not blasting too loud so you can still have a chat and enjoy the ambiance. Nice to see a classy institution like this maintain its charm

Stopped for a drink in this historic bar! Great service! Really good selection of spirits to which the bar tenders really know everything about. So even if your unsure on what to try they will certainly guide you down the right path. The history of the place is really interesting, and its nice to see places like this continuing to serve their purpose and sticking to traditions. Would recommend this bar and to read up on its history.

This bar is a hidden gem! The bartenders are absolute rockstars - super professional and clearly know their stuff. They whipped me up a killer cocktail exactly to my taste (and I'm picky!). The vibe is awesome - perfect for a relaxed night out with friends. Bonus points for being open late - will definitely be back for another round soon!

If you want a damn good old fashion for a normal price this is it. Will be back tomorrow and maybe the next day

Learned from the bartender that the woman in the light fixtures was modeled after Alma de Bretteville Spreckels! The price of drinks is on the steeper side, but they are delicious! You can't find anything on this level of elegance for any less.

Sebastian introduced me to two incredible cocktails made with it. Great place to grab a drink after work or after a visit to SFMOMA. Classic San Francisco vibe that takes you back to post 1906 earthquake San Francisco when the city was rebuilding. You wouldn’t be surprised to see Sam Spade and a bunch of guys in fedoras nursing their drinks here.

I have found a new favorite bar. Wandered in because I was curious, and was pleasantly surprised. It's a historic bar with GORGEOUS interiors, friendly service, fun historical anecdotes, and there was live music when I was there. I will definitely be back, and hopefully in time to catch the sandos!

Amazing cocktails, perfect balance. Good friendly service, and a very homey and warm bar atmosphere! Insanely good deals on top tier beers such as Russian River Blind Pig and many other niche brews. The cocktails are a perfect balance of strong but delicious.
