Opinions de Grove To-Go San Francisco
Absolutely LOVED this place! Service & food was unbelievable. Truly a hidden gem. Can’t WAIT to go back here next time I’m in SF. Amazing goat cheese/ strawb salad & the Club with the Cali avo was unmatched! Had a fabulous oat milk iced coffee & hubby had a tasty hazy IPA. We will be back! ❤️😋
Excellent vibe. Was here during SB weekend so it was busy. You place your order first and then find seating. Plenty of space and you have the option of inside or outside dining. The servers find you by the number they give you when you placed your order. Food was excellent. The Mac & cheese was especially good. There are several servers walking around if you want to order another beverage or need anything. As soon as you are done there's someone cleaning the table and boom...next party is sitting down. Oh they have a bar so I'm guessing you can just get a seat there if available. Thia place gets the Mr. National seal of approval
Visiting from out of town. Was kind of overwhelmed with the menu but asked the cash register worker for recommendations. So you order your food and drinks first then they give you a number and you find a seat. The workers will look for your number and deliver the food to you. We had the cobb salad, the chicken salad, fried chicken sandwich and roasted turkey BLT w add on avocado and the lemon mayo aioli. Everything was delicious!! Shout out to Joseph at the the cash register w the coconut allergy (same food allergy as me) who helped us choose our food 😅🙈
great fresh food. the bread on the sandwiches was amazing . Beautiful decor and friendly staff. definitely worth a stop if you're around the area
Awesome spot! I ordered a gluten free tuna melt with a cup of tomato soup, and it was exactly what I needed. The gf bread is delicious, the soup was creamy and savory. The tuna melt was perfect and felt healthy! Quick service, friendly and efficient staff. Loud and busy but great ambience, and I saw lots of groups of folks meeting up. The seating is perfect for a group get together. Will be back when I'm back in SF.
Lovely restaurant & bar. Has a really unique ambience with two story tree trunks adorning the main room. Great place for brunch or a date. Menu is long and has lots of delicious, reasonably healthy options for food & drink. Tons of seating both indoors and outdoors, but very popular so you may need to wait for a table during busy hours.
Outstanding food and customer service with a smile! I had the Eggs Benedict Dave’s Way (avocado and bacon) and a lavender latte. Beautiful presentation and seriously the best hash browns I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve never had rosemary infused hashbrowns before and now all other hashbrowns feel inferior. Breakfast is available all day. Can’t wait to come back!
The atmosphere is killer. Loved how it looks inside with the huge trees, lights, and multiple floors. It’s almost like one of those romantic movie film sets. I got the breakfast burrito and my wife got the eggs Benedict. Do be aware that a lot of San Francisco restaurants add on a “mandate” charge for their employees health care that the customer has to pay for instead of the company. Beyond that, the food is reasonably priced for what you get. Honestly I’m a bit torn. I loved the food, I loved the atmosphere, but it’s self-serve in that you can’t sit still a table until you order; and even then it’s basically cafeteria style with order and pay and then get a number. No service per say. But the food is great and the atmosphere is killer. So yeah. I’d definitely purely come back!
I have tough standards for a Rueben sandwich, originally being from NY. This sandwich was outstanding! Automatically coming with Pastrami instead of Corned Beef is not usual, but definitely my preference so that was great. Thick slices conveyed the rich flavor. The rye bread did not have the usual caraway seeds, but had great taste. I would have this sandwich again. The Grove has a good atmosphere with funky decor and some classic Rock and Roll images.
This place is so good! Came in for breakfast and loved it. The vibe on this place is cool. You are handed a menu when you walk in, order at the counter, get a number and choose your seat. Lots of great places to sit and chat. I ordered the avocado toast, which was excellent. Highly recommend a visit here!
Really comfortable vibes and I adore the order at counter and have it delivered to your seat. Gives comfy but class. We had the "tis the season" and "cosmopolitan" both were pretty good. Partner got the chicken dinner and spoke highly of it! Would love to go back and will, just a little pricey for my taste but that comes back in quality of food and drink and staff service. Look forward to trying other locations
The best atmosphere for a coffee date, The Grove is both lively and relaxing thanks to the fireplace and comfortable furniture. Unfortunately there are very few vegan food options and I was disappointed to learn later that even the chai mix contains a milk derivative which makes it not vegan. 😣 I am happy that they serve Grand Coffees and they're one of the few coffee shops in the area that's open on the weekends so I'll likely go again but would love more vegan choices!
We enjoyed our visit to The Grove. It was very easy to order and find a seat. Matter of fact we had a wheelchair in our party and the man that was at the entrance welcoming us made sure that he found us a personal table to accommodate our party of six including the wheelchair. The food came out very promptly, fresh and hot. The servers were outstanding, they made sure we always had what we needed and brought it to us promptly. The cocktails were scrumptious and creative! We had three burgers which were made to well done. If you like yiur burger less done I would recommend ordering it medium rare. I had the chicken pot pie which was good, wish it had a little bit more seasoning. The two dessert cakes were outstanding.
Service was excellent, very welcoming, fast and hospitable. Loved the vibe, it gave very much cabin and it was perfect since we visited in fall. I ordered the hot pastrami sandwich and while it was good, it was pretty dry (my only complaint). My friends had the chicken pot pie and portabello Benedict which they said were delicious. I tried the hashbrowns which didn’t disappoint, they were light and crispy, greaseless.
Before heading out to tour areas of Cali, I stopped in for breakfast across the street from my hotel because of the crowd I noticed. Yep, it’s always good to follow the natives. From the time I walked in, to sitting, and to leaving every staff spoke to me, gave a smile, and offered their assistance. I had a simple breakfast but it was cooked with quality ingredients. The eggs tasted much fresher than the eggs cooked served up in the D-M-V. Good food and awesome staff — what a way to jump start my day!
Came here twice over one weekend, just because. We shared a Breakfast Burrito the first time, prepared with care so that each half looked identical. Loved the Tomato Soup. The second time, we went with the Bacon and Gruyere Quiche and the Breakfast Sando. Both were impressive. We got a warm welcome both times. Enjoy the atmosphere and funky bathrooms, too!
Solid cozy-casual cafe nearby the MoMA in downtown SF. Tons of nooks and crannies to find a table, which really makes it feel like you’re in a treehouse. Seems like a great place for larger groups as well as last-minute lunch plans. Service is straightforward — order and pay at the counter, then seat yourself until staff brings you your meal. Fare is American bistro, with good sized portions. I had the Berkeley Bowl Salad, an homage to the great East Bay establishment (and complete with Green Goddess dressing!). It was solid, though the added roasted chicken breast was a bit dry and chewy. Overall, it was a cute and trendy spot with a cozy yet spacious interior.
We visited The Grove for a work dinner with a group of eight. The setup is casual—guests order at the counter from a large, diverse menu, and food is delivered to the table. While the variety is impressive, it can sometimes be a double-edged sword. A few of our dishes came out cold or a bit underwhelming, likely due to the wide menu spread. That said, others in our group had absolutely delicious meals, and we were all impressed by the quality of the ingredients. The standout of the night was the exceptional service—friendly, attentive, and efficient. Despite a few inconsistencies, I’d still recommend giving it a try!
Aesthetic spot for a chill brunch. The outdoor seating and laid-back vibe definitely deliver. It’s the kind of place you come to catch up with friends and soak up some sun. That said, the food didn’t quite live up to the setting. The breakfast burger was just okay, and nothing on the menu really stood out. If you’re here for the vibe, it’s a win, but don’t expect a standout brunch.
This place has a nice atmosphere, its self seating which was cool, but you pay upfront right when you order your food. The eggs Benedict was very difficult to eat, I was having a really hard time to cut the bread. I was pretty much disappointed especially for the price I paid for it. The freshly squeezed orange juice was nice and my girlfriend liked her meal with an espresso. The staff was very kind and friendly which made me feel welcomed, I like that. The other food seemed good like the burrito and the French toast, but we'll see.
I have been to The Grove many times. In a nutshell, the restaurant suffers from inconsistency and problems in execution by the kitchen and the servers. In my many experiences, mostly breakfast, there are issues with the food that come out from the kitchen. Today, I ordered a simple classic breakfast plate: Eggs (choice of scrambled, poached or fried, i.e sunny side up or over easy), Rosemary Hash Browns and Bacon Strips, with batard toast. I asked for the hash browns "crispy" because, well, mushy hash browns defeat the purpose don't they? The plate I received had cold toast, coolish hash browns (with a crispy crust, though), and limp, room temperature bacon. The fried eggs were warm but the yolks were hard as rocks. WAY overcooked. The bacon was completely limp - flaccid and room temperature. Not appetizing, and irritating when you are paying $28 with tips and taxes and service fees. What is particularly sad is the bacon was clearly high quality bacon. The hash browns were well seasoned. The Bayard toast would have been fantastic, if it had been served within the zip code of warm. The owners clearly care about the quality of the food, it is conceived well, and it is made with quality ingredients. The problem is that the kitchen does not seem able to execute on eggs ( not once in many visits for me, but somehow my wife's poached eggs were poached correctly today, something the restaurant has never been able to achieve for me and why I quit ordering the Eggs Benedict because hard egg yolks suck, and egg whites should be included in a poached egg. The kitchen staff cannot understand how to coordinate the components of the plate to be served together hot (or even warm), and the serving staff clearly pays no attention to checking whether the plate is suited to be served. This has ever been my gripe with The Grove - all promise, always complete failure on the final execution. So why 3 stars? Always greeted at door with friendly staff passing out me us and welcoming you. Warm and friendly atmosphere. Nice seating areas create a truly nice ambiance. The menu is well thought out, quality ingredients. The juices are top notch. If they could just get staff in the kitchen and serving the food to care and coordinate, and to have consistency. Personally, I am tapped out on chances for them to pull it all together, sadly. Cafe De La Presse and dozens of others get the eggs and service right on with 100% accuracy. It is sad The Grove - which should be able to do the same - fails so utterly when they clearly have quality in mind - is simply baffling.
