One of my favourite places from this summer and if I'm ever in the area I'll definitely come back! I ordered the zhajiang mian and the egg chive dumplings and they both tasted amazing! The portion sizes were big and the food was very tasty! ^-^
My favorite Chinese restaurant in San Francisco. Incredible dumplings, tender and flavorful mapo tofu, thick chewy noodles, perfect salt & pepper chicken… every meal here is a delight.
Very tasty dumplings, they make them right in front of you! Wonderful service. This is our third time here and we will definitely come again!
The pot stickers are the bomb. 3 times bigger than your average pot sticker. And the hot and sour soup was very good. The medium bowl will feed at least 2 people.
My dad came from the northern China. The dumplings here are almost the same as the dumplings my dad used to make, only more juicy. The owner and staff all have the familiar northern accent. I never expected a restaurant on a road trip would make me so homesick. 😂😂😂
Classic SF hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Not dirty or sticky, just unassuming. Great food. I love their fish dishes!
Biggest, juiciest dumplings you can find on the whole Bay Area (to my knowledge). Very flavorful fillings. Definitely my favorite dumpling place!! I eat here all the time.
For moderately priced excellent Cantonese cuisine in the Outer Sunset, please pay a visit to China North Dumpling 🥟
I enjoyed the ma-po tofu (I requested the no meat option) and the vegetarian dumplings. It was delicious. I'll definitely eat here again.
The dumplings are amazing, and so many types. When you specialize, do it right, and they do! The other food is good too, sweet and sour chicken and pork fried rice, yum.
Dumplings are very on point. Like this one a lot more than many of the famous spot in SF
yum. my favorite place in this neighborhood to go with friends and family. i order the vegan dumplings and they make them fresh each time for me. they are so good.
Always a great choice. Their dumplings are so good but so is everything on the menu we have tried.
So good! The spicy garlic fish is incredible and I also highly recommend the sesame chicken and the sizzling plate with cumin seed and lamb. The dumplings are absolutely delicious- definitely be adventurous with ordering! you wont regret it.
I have been here since it first opened it’s doors, I usually make a visit when I am craving for a different style of Chinese food or when I am in the area. The restaurant is pretty compact where lines can build up. It is a two sided interior, where you can walk through the middle of the restaurant to either side of the dining area. Their menu consists of appetizers, dumplings, entrees, noodles, noodle soups, fried rice and much more. Everything is authentic, worth trying and made to order which is always a plus for me and I do not mind the wait since I am a very patient person. Their portion size is what I call more than enough, because most of the times I have food to take home. The service here is great thanks to their very welcoming, well trained and understanding staffs where I had never encountered an issue during any of my visits. You can either dine in, order for take out, phone in an order or order through a delivery app to have it delivered to you. I highly recommend this place to all Chinese food lovers, to anyone looking to try something new or if you just so happen to be in the area. I definitely will be back to tryout the other delicious options they have to offer.
My favorite hole in the wall Chinese food I crave for when it comes to dumplings. They do fried or boiled. It’s about the wrapper… fresh made and ingredients inside that counts. They do good Americanized Chinese food too… best tender kung pao chicken and Mongolian beef.
Delicious dishes served over rice 🍚 , generous portions and prices as well (especially if you go before 5p on weekdays!) they give yummy free appetizers (salt roasted peanuts 🥜 and fermented chili cabbage 🌶️ 🥬 ) while you wait for your food to come! We were starving when we first arrived and the lady serving us was kind enough to refill our free appetizers three times! We ordered fried calamari 🦑 for our appetizer and for our main entrees: black pepper chicken, sweet and sour chicken and Mongolian beef. I could only eat half and had leftovers so I had a meal ready for home later on 😊 we came on a Tuesday afternoon and were served promptly. It was not busy at all.
I’ve dined in a couple of time and recently did take-out a lot. My friends and I are big fans of this place! We’ve tried their sweet and sour chicken, the black bean chicken, sesame chicken, shanghai style pork strips rice cake, honey walnut shrimp, string beans, Beijing style pork strips, pan-fried chive and pork dumplings and more. I love their sesame chicken - crispy, savory and sweet umami goodness! Never had a problem with getting seats or parking. They have a take-out special of 3 items for about $50, soup and white rice included! Super worth it. Check it out!!
This is our default goto place for all around solid Chinese food. They have the yummiest juiciest dumplings around! And for everything else you really can't go wrong here! We both eat in and order from here all the time. They do free delivery within 2 mile radius. Some of our favorites: spicy crispy fish, cucumber tofu skin salad, spicy crispy eggplant.
Authentic Northern Chinese dishes with amazing flavors and textures. I have visited a few times trying dishes that I am not familiar with and so far I have not been disappointed. Delicious!
Comforting authentic Chinese food at its best. I just felt like I was home eating some of these dishes. You get complimentary salted peanuts and a little cabbage salad once you sit down along with your tea. We got the Pork Special (Hong Shou Rou with Bok choy) and Hong Shou Eggplant. Oh man!!! SO SO SO GOOD. Damn, the flavors were just spot on. Almost like my mom made it, almost. The eggplant took a bit longer but that just guaranteed its freshness - it was coated and fried and that locked in the tenderness of the eggplant. So good! I was already a bit full but I just kept eating because it was so good. Highly recommend both dishes and I would love to even try something else next time because I now trust this place to deliver on flavor. And with the price, you just can't beat it. I definitely understand why this is one of my uncle's go to spots.
Tasty food. Large portions for reasonable prices. Easier street parking (parking meters before 6pm) than most restaurant districts in the city.
Excellent local Chinese place in the sunset. Get a noodle soup with handmade noodles! It’s extra but so worth it and portions are massive ! Also their northern style buns are super savory :)
I recommend blindly the spicy szechuan chicken wings sooooo delicious 🧑🍳

Fantastic local restaurant serving delicious Chinese food! We've been coming here for years, and the quality and portions are top-notch. We recommend going with a group in order to try more dishes. There are large selections of noodle, dumpling, meat, and veggie dishes, and you'll definitely find something to enjoy. Last night, we ordered Westlake Beef Soup, Shanghai noodles, pork potstickers, fried tofu over rice, and fish on a sizzling plate. Everything was delicious and highly recommended!
Friendly Northern China cuisine. Basil Chicken Fried Rice and braised eggplant are must try. Egg plant is skinless. Their stuffed pancakes are great. Pork/beef/lamb. I can’t eat any spicy food so I cannot recommend any. Reasonable price with large portion.
I've been here before but I suspect there have been some changes. Nonetheless, the dumplings ( their specialty) remain tasty and plentiful.

The house special pancake is terrific! Best meat pancakes I had in Bay Area. Dumplings were good, but the wrappers were broken and the wrappers were thicker than I expected. I guess the fried dumplings would be better.
Come here for the dumplings, as they are handmade in house. The shredded beef pancake is tasty. Somehow the restaurant starts serving Sichuan dishes while it advertises to be the Chinese northern food. I can't wait to try them, especially the silky tofu with fish (豆花魚).
My favourite dish is the Spicy Fish. Its pan fried with chilies - soooo yummy & melts in your mouth. The flavour is awesome. It's not on the regular menu, you have to special order it. They make great Dumplings here of course. The Shanghai Noodles are great & so filling. They serve everything with pickled cabbage. Stick with what they are known for - their staples - such as the dumplings. The pots of soup and noodle dishes also are quite good. I tried their food for a take-away and ordered some basic Chinese staples the first time round, cos I was craving Chinese food - and it was just okay. I had some Trader Joes dumplings in the freezer so I didn't order dumplings here but I did order a soup and a few a la carte entrees and they were just average. But I completely changed my mind after I had the Fish, ordered special dumplings, abd had the Shanghai Noodles!
China North Dumpling serves classic Cantonese & Northern Chinese dishes. Highlights: Salt and pepper spareribs and Spicy Eggplant. Both were savory and crunchy delicious! Surprisingly, the dumplings were over-steamed, resulting in "skins" that ruptured and ripped.
Solid for everything except carbs - deep fried and braised eggplant is amazing, fried rice is meh.
Actually this place is good. Hole in the wall. I didn't even notice it was here. Ate with a friend a had the hunan fish crispy delicious good. With the mushroom and tofu pretty good I might add. Will be back to try more items
I came here around 8:30pm, easier to find street parking and waiting for a table. Don't get me wrong, this place is all very busy with a steady stream of customers for dine in and take out. My daughter ordered the corn and chicken dumplings. I didn't like the corn in the dumplings but she loved it. We also got an order of the onion pancakes which none of us really liked it. The fish in black bean sauce was lightly fried before a toss in the sauce. The favors here is great. If sobering is in spicy oil it's spicy, not mild. I would like to go back to try other items on the menu that I've never seen at other restaurants. Service is slow here s do don't be afraid to flag someone down.
XLB - the win for the skin but bamboo shoots & water chestnuts in the filling ? tasty soup, Sheng Jian Bao - thicky bao skin, nicely pan-fried, beef & carrot filling (not a traditional filling) Sticky Rice Roll - we like 👍
Good dumpling shop along Noriega in Sunset area. Came for lunch and service/food was prompt. Ordered a variety of dumplings which were all uniformly good (we ended up buying some frozen ones home). The spicy wonton is not great (sauce has peanut in it which gives it a strange taste) and the xiaolongbao is not the best. Noodles are fine. Will return.
Decent food at affordable price. Will definitely come back!
Good food, dined in twice and food quality was consistent. Will go back if in the area.

Good food! Good service!

Dumplings was pretty good and food portions are a good size. Other dishes could have used more seasoning but would come back again.

Raised prices last month in April 2021, all menu items went up $1, and used to be open 7 days, now closed on Wednesdays. Dumplings now have more filling, but thicker skin, too doughy. Likewise more dough for green onion pancake. Will need try other items next time.
The Chives & Shrimp boiled dumplings were moist and flavorful. General Tso's Chicken was tasty. The hand-pulled noodles in soup were way too soft.
Most of the soup dumplings were bone dry. Beef pancake was OK. Pork and cabbage dumplings were the best, pretty good. There are better restaurants for all of these in the sunset.
CAVEAT: They are more interested in the to-go orders than the people sitting in the restaurant. PRO: - Steamed dumplings are big and delicious - Good fish CON: - You will wait forever if they have to-go orders - We were the only ones in the restaurant and it took more than 30 minutes to get our food - Service was terrible for a Chinese restaurant. We kept having to wave them over for tea - Took 5-10 minutes for every dish to come SUMMARY: I'm scratching my head about this restaurant. Our friends raved about it and recommended it to us. But food was just ok, service was non existent and it just took way to long. When you eat Chinese food, you want it dishes to either come together or back to back. That's the point of "Chinese family style"
The sweet & sour chicken was way too sweet & the breading was soggy. No pineapples. We sent it back & was still charged for it. The pork fennel dumplings needed more flavor. We're not picky so it takes quite a bit for things like this to become a problem. We don't plan on coming back.
I ordered spicy beef noodle for my 13 years old daughter. She told me the soup and beef taste good. But..., the “noodle” no taste. I told the waitress and she said “the noodle no taste is normal”.I don’t want to go again!
Food quality is bad and the wait is long. Pork is dry and tasteless. Be careful if you want to order any type of “authentic” Chinese dishes as they may not be what you’d expect. The dumpling wrapper is clearly not hand made. Would not come back again.
Waited an hour or more to get my food seems like they’re more interested in to go orders rather than customers dining in. Overall experience 3/10 based off what i heard and seen these people force customers for tips careful when dining in at this place!
Fake Chinese northern food. Just Cantonese food with a northern name. Never order non-Cantonese food in a Cantonese fast food restaurant in San Francisco. They just want to make money by attempting people to order.
Do Not Come!!! This used to be my favorite place for authentic 东北老式锅包肉. But last night, I had extreme food poisoning from eating its food delivery. I vomited 2 times and diarrhea 7-8 times in the last 12 hours. I have to cancel my flight for Christmas because I cannot hold myself together for a flight. This is utter ignorance of public health. I’ll report to public health authority and the food delivery platform. It pains me that my favorite place did this to me.
Avoid this place as much as possible! Found a cockroach in their soup. I’m super disappointed with them as a long time customer, but I was even more disappointed with how they handled it when I brought it back to them. The owner first did not want to return the bill and then even tried to claim that they passed the health inspection. Their health score is only 77 which is very low and had several reports about unsanitary food. Stay away from them!
