Great live music (Thursdays and Saturdays) and great drinks. Friendly staff. They had fault line trio with Jay sanders playing on a Saturday l visited. They also have food which seems delicious, I just tried the chocolate lava cake this time. So good. Note the photos are taken with night sight, so it looks more bright than it is.
The food is tasty and the beers are cold. The flatbreads and marinated olives are highly recommended. So are the wheat beers they carry (draft or bottles). They have a giant screen in the beck room, you can watch live sports events without the loud crowd.
The place is nice and I would even say classy. The prices are relatively fair and the choice of beer and wine is good! I have been here are couple of times and I have always enjoyed the music which they play!
Bar hopped and stopped here. Bartender was super cool & friendly. Loved the Salami board. Yum! Should've ordered the Salami and Cheese. Till next time!
Love that fantastic tree their pizzas are you great service
Great cocktails. Great aesthetics. Definitely a favorite date spot, if you’re into the dimly lit/mood vibe. I do wish they stayed open later past midnight during the week.
My boyfriend and I had a very nice night at Noir Lounge! The ambience was pleasant, the music wasn't too loud and they made us our favorites cocktails on demand! I highly recommend.
What an excellent place to unwind with a glass of wine...or in my case bubbly! Cool atmosphere with shutters on the ceiling creating mood lighting. Just loud enough to make your date lean in to hear you but not enough chatter to be obnoxious. Take a seat on one of the couches or at a table or the bar and relax and listen to the smooth piano being played in the corner. Reasonably (SF) priced glasses of wine and a range of bottles of champagne. This may be my new favorite place!
Great place to bring out of town visitors! Charming & cozy décor. Live piano music. Perfectly mixed drinks. This is the kind of place to warm up on a chilly foggy or rainy night with a scotch.
We had a fabulous time. Kaitlyn was amazing and Alex did a fantastic job bartending. They were very real people who interacted with our group. It was beyond lovely.
Multiple good sour beers to choose from, and friendly staff. This bar is located in a festive part of Hayes Valley. You can have a wonderful time walking around the area, as I did today!
One of my favorite bars in the city, with seating that extends towards the back if you loop around with thick plushy leather couches. Bar food is off the charts good. Turns into a random sandwich place in the afternoons.
Attended a private birthday party here and experience was smooth. Good wine and cocktail selection. Everyone loved their drinks. Limited food options but quality is good. Heard only compliments from fellow attendees. I asked for wine outside their menu and they were able to provide me that. 5 stars just for the kind and helpful attitude of the staff.
I recently hosted a small party at Noir Lounge. The space is beautiful, the food & drinks were all excellent & the service was even better! Owner/General Manager Caitlin was incredibly helpful from start to finish, from reserving the space to selecting the menu to her service the night of the party. Definitely recommend this place for dinner, drinks, or hosting a party!
This place always has an intimate feeling while still bustling with energy. For drinks, it's often easy to find a nook for conversation and to actually hear each other speak, with the privacy of light music and other patrons' chatter. The drinks are also delicious and they put a respectable emphasis on garnish 👌
Great time. Wine and cake was good. Friendly and prompt service. We found a nice table for 2 in the back even on a Saturday night at 10pm. Bustling but not impossible to hear each other. Will return!
A nice upscale lounge with live piano music, d warm lighting that can even make me look good, and very upscale appetizers. The crab cakes have a great balance of sweet and mild spice. The charcuterie boards and bottles of wine are 25% off on Sunday. The cocktails are 3-5 ingredients each, but the service was fast with a smile. Good for smaller groups, but there is a large table for big groups.
One of my favorite spots for drinks. The wine isn't cheap, but their pours are generous and they have a great selection. I've run several work events there, and they just hold the group to a minimum (no additional booking fee), which is great. And the black and white films playing in the background is a nice touch.
The drinks were tasty and strong, and the venue itself is more spacious than the outside would suggest (there's a large back room). I came with a large party ~20 people, and the staff did a good job of accommodating us, though they seemed vexed by the fact that we were talking/standing instead of sitting around our table.
This is medium sized wine and beer cafe that has a neat twist on their style. The decor is pretty typical modern bar (maybe a little on the darker side) but in addition to that they have silent noir films playing with live piano accompaniment. The player took a couple breaks, but for the most of the time I was there he was playing very neat covers of oldies and modern tunes. A novel little gimmick, but it's not too loud and sets a good mood in the place. Don't be taken aback if there isn't room in the front, the lounge extends pretty far back and there is a second bar and additional seating if you weave through.
Gets five stars based on atmosphere alone. The lounge areas are both intimate and comfortable, and the background music fits the environment nicely. The wine and food are obviously also good, if a bit pricey for what you get.
My regular bar! The food is the best bar food I've ever had and the drinks are always great. Jessica is hilarious and friendly. It's trendy but it's really got a neighborhood feel on quiet nights. Plus the piano! <3
Been there on Friday evening. Ambiance is really quite impressive. We sat backside of the lounge. It’s cooler than front of the lounge. Didn’t like the food much. I had a non alcoholic drink which was quite good. Drinks are good. They should work on their food! than it’ll be a complete package deal food plus drinks. Nice place to visit if in the City with friends. We ordered beet salad! Personally we didn’t like it that much. Not sure about other items.
Very good cocktails, in a very cosy place. The decor is "dark" and the light low, giving it an intimate feeling. The order was a bit long to arrive. No idea about the food, we didn't try.
We have had a couple of company events there and each has been a great time. Jess, one of the owners was very informative at our whiskey tasting party. Food is amazing. Looking forward to the next time I am able to go back.
When you walk in this dark and glamorous bar you are greeted with a beautiful dome ceiling. Towards the back the room opens to the right where there is another bar and a movie screen playing old movies. The food here is not your typical bar food. It is ellegant with strong flavors. They have wine and beer on tap as well as a huge selection of bottled wines. I highly recommend this spot, especially for a romantic date.
This is a cute little cocktail bar on Hayes. I loved their house G&T and I've heard good things about their "frosé" aka a frozen rosé. They have good outdoor seating and menus are on your phone so you can social distance. Nice and helpful staff too.
My boyfriend and I stopped into Noir Lounge for drinks and apps. I love the atmosphere of this dark, relaxed and romantic restaurant - the old movies that they project can really be a great conversation piece. Wine was good and so were the tater tots, but not at the price. Service was just so-so. maybe because they were really busy, but we ordered 3 oz glasses and then received (and had to pay for) 6 oz.
Noir Lounge, as you would expect, is a bar with film noir decor. The space is not large, but can accommodate a lot of people, as you will see on a busy night. I like to sit near the back bar. It's much quieter and intimate there. They have liquor and wine, so take your pick.
Love the live piano at night. Wish they had a mocktail list, but the old movies and some live jazz is fantastic. Great place to relax and grab s drink.
This is a cosy bar with live piano music. The food is pricey but exquisite. They have a few good top notch whiskeys here as well as good beers, cocktails and wine.
I spent New Year's Eve at Noir Lounge with the girlfriend and a few other close friends. Entrance to the party was $75/person, which seemed worth it considering there was an open bar with good spirits and champagne on hand. They also provided a really nice spread of food including pizzas, bacon wrapped dates, baked mac & cheese, things on tiny toast, etc. The crowd was mixed and although it wasn't packed to the gills, I would say that it was just a little over capacity for the space. They had two bars but only one bar was mixing cocktails, which caused a bit of congestion throughout the night. Of note, it got so busy around countdown time that they forgot to coordinate a unified count. It's a bit of a shame that an entire party dedicated to counting down towards the new year failed its main objective! The NYE party at Noir had great accommodations but could have used just a bit more coordination.
Lovely setting, extremely kind and friendly and good waitstaff. Charcuterie board is lovely, Beef Lasagna good, if a bit salty. Beautiful, trendy crowd. Dog friendly. Fun place!!
I had my doubts, another wine bar in the 'hood?! But, they wooed me with their large tvs in frames that show great movies and The Giants! There were some hiccups with the kitchen, but the new menu seems to be solid. They also have LunchPad Pop Up every day at 8am. So, good wines, great space & solid food. All good.
Feels like a speakeasy of the 20's, in a good way. Lots of choice in seating from communal tables to small tables to overstuffed wingback chairs. Amusing old movies on screen. Very good service, decent prices, good bar menu. We go there regularly.
Came here for good booze and live music. Left with smiles and good company. Waiting staff interrupts to fill water too often and pushes to order food/more drinks. Four stars for now, will give this place another shot.
This is a great date spot! Lots of comfy places to sit and chat quietly, but also has areas for larger congregations. The food here is appetizer oriented, so a great way to start or end your evening. The staff here is typically friendly, if perhaps a bit slow when you're sitting towards the back. So long as you're in no rush (which hopefully on a date, you're not!), you won't really notice. Meanwhile sitting in the front area I've had nothing but prompt service, which is fitting for when you are here with groups of friends. Would definitely recommend to pop in if you're waiting for a table at a fancy nearby restaurant or just looking for a quieter place to wind down a night!
This is a snazzy wine bar with a cool vibe (&music), good cocktails, and delicious apps. However, I got a $2 charge (that's 18.2% more on an $11 drink) for requesting it "on the rocks" (aka ice in a drink). I'd still recommend this place for the vibe reasons above, but be cautious about what you order. Edit: See their friendly response below, they confirm the $2, an 18.2% upcharge, for a drink "on the rocks"
Drinks were OK and the place is pretty cool. But we waited almost an hour for our drinks! We checked with the waiter several times and each time he said they would be right out. This was Friday Happy Hour.
Decor is very cool, nor sure the layout is the best. Good drinks, limited snacks menu, I really like the back of the bar with the huge LED screen where you can watch the games and now in playoffs season is great... BUT... just learned the other day that only reservations are accepted and no walk-ins anymore. The neighbors need to be able to drop by and have a beer, the service was a little rude, probably overwhelmed with the number of people that evening, still not very friendly. I support all businesses in Hayes Valley so I hope they are soon open to walk-ins. It's SF! What ever happened to the friendly local bars? Sports bar better recommend Dobbs Ferry.
The atmosphere is really cool, and I love the cocktails. But it is MUCH too loud and the service is really slow. It was basically empty the last time I was there but could barely hear my friend over the music and had to go seek out our check. Our waters were never filled, even though I Asked more than once. The food is fine, but overpriced for what it is. Better options.
Not too bad! The place is nice and cozy and the staff is friendly. Love music on Thursdays and Saturdays. The sangria I had was pretty bad though: The wine was drawn into some kind of sparkling water, and no spices at all. The taste was pretty bad. The food is overall pricy for what you get.
Pretty bar, decent cocktail list, ok beer list, not a great bartender. The bartender was focused on chatting with a regular, who was getting free drinks, and would not acknowledge new customers when they came up to the bar... he actively ignored them. It was not very busy when we were there, so it was pretty awkward to see this happen several times. When we sat down, there were a total of 4 people at the bar, and it took him nearly five minutes to make eye contact with us and give us a menu.
Kind of a cool space, but I feel the wine was not very good for what we paid. Great for groups though!! They have a nice large table. Would definitely go when I have 6-14 people.
There is absolutely no reason for a heater to be cranked up on a mild sunday.. we walked in, were overwhelmed by the uncomfortableness of the heater on this summer day and left, despite good recommendations from friends. Seemed cool and will check it out again and hopefully will be more comfortable.
The bar had a nice vibe and the sommelier seemed to know her wine, but the staff swindled us for a couple of extra bucks of tip. We had a $75 bill for 5 people, we left $40 in cash and 3 cards, somehow the staff assumed a 50% tip on the cash as what was left to pay by the other 3 was $16 each, by the time they added tip, too, we walked away having paid a total of $100, effectively leaving a 33% tip. Of course we only recalculated the bill after we left. There are enough wine bars in SF, and next tome I'll go somewhere where I don't have to double check the waiter's math.
UPDATED 2/1/17 - Removing 2 stars from my original review. Although I still love the vibe and the drinks are great, we had a horrible service experience last week. The bartender ignored us most of the night, talking to her friends at the bar and ignoring that patrons. Drinks took a long to to make, and not because it was busy. And most frustrating of all, the bartender added 150% to the tip we left. Noir is a hip, trendy wine bar in Hayes Valley with good wine and small bites and a great ambiance. With projector screens and tv's playing classic old movies and a very prohibition feel, Noir is a fun place for drinks. The restaurant winds through several areas to a back room with a large projector screen passing a piano which almost always has someone playing on it. Wines on tap as well as by the pour or bottle and beer compile the drink menu. And for food they have a lot of small options as well as a few large plates. Sandwiches are good for lunch, Brussels sprouts are excellent.
I’ve lived in the SF for 5 years and been to a lot of bars all over the city, my experience last night with the bartender at the Noir lounge was nothing like anything I’ve seen or heard before. We went to happy hour after work on a Friday, sitting at the bar with my friend, laughing and having fun, not even talking to anyone, we got the bill and about to leave and she started telling us you should leave or I call the police, we keep asking what did we do, or what happened and she started yelling at us and even followed us in the street when we were leaving and told us to never come back here!! We’re still shocked of what happened, she wasn’t even serving us!!really bad experience with the service
Trash place! Order hot water, and for them to turn on heater outside as soon as we got there cause it was chilly outside. Got our hot water and heater turned on when we are basically done with our meal. I would let it slide if they were busy, but they weren’t. Also did even let me use inside bathroom to wash my hands before I eat, cause I didn’t have vaccine. What happened to washing your hands for 20 seconds before doing anything. No logic. Need work on customer service.
Very nice environment and atmosphere the cocktails were also very nice, however the female server was avoiding our table and was instead flirting with other customers while we waited for 30 minutes. At this point the bartender had to come over and take our order. The same server then attempted to clean a table with very strong smelling liquid but gave up half way through leaving the dirty rag on the table. This smelt very bad and was very off putting. Very disappointed with the service which undermined an otherwise nice bar.
