Opinions de Ocean Beach Cafe San Francisco
Just a minute from the beach, Ocean Beach Cafe feels exactly how a neighborhood spot should feel: welcoming & alive with community energy. I tried the cortado, made with milk delivered fresh that morning & an iced golden chai that was perfectly balanced & refreshing after a walk by the water. From their thoughtfully curated non-alcoholic bottle shop, I picked up a premium alcohol-free wine from Vienna, Austria, part of a selection that clearly reflects intention & care behind what they stock. Breakfast did not disappoint. A warm everything bagel with a “secret sauce” I am still thinking about, generous salsa options & homemade pastries that made it hard to choose just one. The staff is young, friendly & fast paced in the best way, attentive without ever making you feel rushed. I noticed pets happily set up with their own treats & water bowls, which adds to the relaxed coastal atmosphere. What truly makes the place special, though, is the mix of people coming through the door. All ages. Surfers fresh from the beach, families, remote workers, neighbors picking up salads & sandwiches. It feels lived in & real. And then there is Josh, the owner. When he walks in, the energy subtly shifts. His passion for non-alcoholic beverages, shaped by years behind the bar & now five years building this concept, gives the space a quiet magnetism. Conversations naturally unfold about well-being, mindful drinking & community. You can easily spend hours there, sipping slowly & talking about life. I also loved the Hawaiian furniture handcrafted by his father, which gives the space a deeply personal & home-like feel. What elevates Ocean Beach Cafe even further is how it connects daily rituals with something bigger. Every Saturday, the team organizes a local beach cleanup, inviting neighbors & customers to begin their morning with purpose. By removing plastic & marine debris from the shoreline, they contribute directly to Life Below Water (SDG 14) & the protection of coastal ecosystems. These cleanups strengthen community ownership & environmental responsibility. By turning care for public space into a shared ritual, the café contributes to Sustainable Cities & Communities (SDG 11), showing how resilient cities are built through small, consistent collective actions.
Our favorite way to start our day when visiting San Francisco. The food is great and the staff is very friendly. Even though we are all the way in Wisconsin, we talk about this little cafe often.
I've been on a non-alcoholic journey as I am three years sober, and discovering new NA drinks has been a crucial part of that journey. My wife and I finally got out to visit this spot, as the only true non-alc bar in the whole Bay Area. Well worth the trip. Joshua was super pleasant and guided us through an awesome flight of NA beers and a few mocktail samples (try the Golden Spirit, it rules). We shared our stories of sobriety with each other and a few of the bar patrons who popped in for a drink. Spaces like this are so critical for both people like me who have stopped drinking, and to drinkers who are starting to learn about the healthier ways to have a social drink. My wife and I went home with a box full of bottles and cans, and we cannot wait to go back. (also, dinner at the Laundromat was super clutch, thank you for the recommendation Joshua!)
The oat-milk cappuccino was surprisingly good — smooth and comforting. The chocolate and pistachio croissant was absolutely delicious, flaky on the outside and wonderfully rich inside. ❤️
Amazing NA bar! So many options and both I had were delicious. First pic is the “Destroyer of bad vibes” and second is the “Good buzz Daisy.” I also got the vegan avocado wrap and it was awesome. Super chill vibe one block from the beach and if you want a tasty mixed drink but don’t drink alcohol, this place is crucial. Will def be back next time I’m in town.
I enjoyed eating at this little gem tucked away only a block from the beach close to GG Park. I got the vegan wrap which was delicious. I talked a bit with the owner who's definitely passionate about the NA drinks and infusions. I have never seen such variety and was impressed. I really liked the easy going vibe of the place and the outdoor seating.
tried out this café near the beach for the first time and had an epic breakfast sandwich. It was so good! Highly recommend checking it out.
Really nice and cozy atmosphere right by the ocean. Had the hummus plate and grilled cheese chicken sandwich. They also have a really nice selection of drinks, highly recommend the ginger ale.
Ordered hot cocoa, avocado toast and spicy chicken sandwich. The avocado toast stood out for me, it wasn't a basic one. The fried garlic added a different flavor to it. Flavorful yet fresh. The spicy chicken sandwich was great too

A nice little cafe with comfortable seating and close to the beach. The service & coffee was excellent. They have a large selection of non-alcoholic wine/beer/liquor.

The vibe in the cafe is amazing with old school hip hop. The chef was the person that to my order and cooked on a open grill. The food comes served on real plates, I try to take a bite but the food was so fresh and hot I had to put the sandwich down and wonderful sauce was left on my finger and I discovered the the sauce was tasty letting me know that the food was amazing with out even taking a bite. This cafe caters to drinks that are nonalcoholic. Sandwich- epic breakfast sandwich highly recommended Latte- coconut rum latte nonalcoholic If your in the area you have to come try!

Ocean Beach Cafe is a rare gem that understands two of the most basic human needs: caffeine and bathrooms. The staff is genuinely friendly... not "corporate coffee company " friendly, but "hey we're glad you're here, please hydrate and sit down" friendly. In a city that refuses to provide public restrooms, their radical generosity in letting people use the bathroom (no questions asked) feels revolutionary. Speaking of which, let's talk about that bathroom. Immaculate. Pleasantly scented. Great decor. Free tampons... a win for all menstruating people everywhere. Plus, bigger than a studio apartment in San Francisco. I've seen less square footage listed for $2400/month. There is free wifi and seating both inside and out. The service is excellent and warm, the NA drinks (they have Kava now!) are thoughtful and inclusive and the sandwiches are perfection. It's a great place to grab food and drinks and a true community space. Could not recommend it more highly.
Not much will get me to drive out to Ocean Beach on a cold, rainy Thursday afternoon, but this place is worth the effort—if only for the breakfast sandwich. There is plenty more though. Draft IPA from Athletic Brewing Company, free sample shots (if you sit at the counter), and great NA mixed drinks. I love this place; now they just need to open a Mission Beach cafe :)
Ocean Beach Cafe is such a hidden gem in San Francisco! 🌊☕ The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed, just a short walk from the beach, which makes it the perfect spot to stop by after enjoying the ocean views. The coffee was delicious and the food was fresh and flavorful. What really stood out was how welcoming and friendly the staff were—they made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for a cute, laid-back place to grab a coffee or a bite near the beach, this is definitely a spot worth visiting. I’ll definitely be coming back!

I went to ocean beach to find a NA bar and this did not disappoint! They have a wide selection of NA drinks of all kinds including Kava, and the cocktails are excellent. It’s rare to find a place that takes quality and choice of NA drinks this seriously. Great atmosphere and the owner was super chill and friendly.

While I visited the US I desperately looked for a good latte. I never thought I would find it in a small Cafe by the beach! Also the service was amazing. I love the warm welcome you get when you enter the cafe. I recommend stopping there for a coffee and a treat!
Went in for a macha and it was great! Wish they had different size cups. It was cold outside and we were able to get a small table. Love that they had a wall of non alcoholic wines! Pretty cool! We did park a few blocks away but if you are at the beach it’s a quick walk to get a warm drink.
After a 6 mile walk with lots of stairs we were famished and did not want to drive too far to eat. Yelp led us to this charming cafe. It’s unassuming yet has great food & nice outdoor seating (parklet with a sweet succulent garden). The prices are quite reasonable for what you get. The iced Matcha was delicious- nice and creamy. The hummus plate was so yummy. I wanted to buy some hummus to go, but they don’t sell it individually- I think they should consider doing so. The staff were all very, very friendly.
Food portions are big, order mindfully. Clean and pretty restroom. Beautiful non-alcoholic bar. Accommodating staff if you want vegetarian options.

Great little sandwich and salad show with a very wide variety of non alcoholic drinks, and a nice terrace. This is one of the few spots to find food near ocean Beach. Had to take a star off because the sausage in the breakfast sandwich was filthy. I would go back buy order something else.
TL;DR Where presentation is of higher quality than the Food FULL REVIEW This place had such a high rating that it was kind of surprising that it was so mediocre. San Francisco is not a food desert, but maybe this part of town is. We got both the regular and the lavender lemonade. The regular lemonade tastes straight out of a can of Country Time. The lavender lemonade definitely tasted like lavender, so if you like that kind of thing, it's excellent. The avocado toast lives on presentation. I thought I was about to experience Nirvana, but instead was greeted by hollow taste. The bread was nice and the avocado was fresh, but it was boring. The turkey sandwich looked pretty normal. The bread was fine, and the red sauce they put on it gave it some flavor. I added avocado, and had I not, this sandwich would have only been slightly better than the avocado toast. The only Epic part of the Epic Breakfast Sandwich was the Everything bagel, which was the highlight of my dining experience, but the eggs were boring as everything else was. Nothing was bad, but nothing was exciting either. This perfectly sums up this place. At best, the presentation was really good, but that's all that it had going for it. Essentially, the presentation is of higher quality than the food.
Great breakfast sandwich but coffee was too milky Rustic interior with outside seating

Good service and decent breakfast/lunch items. Vegan wrap was good, as was the avocado toast. Dessert wise the bread pudding was very delicious and the scones were ok. Don’t mind the non-alcoholic vibe; keeps trouble away on weekends plus there are plenty of nearby bars and liquor stores. This place is a far cry from the quality we had with Fredy’s Deli but…. times change
I don’t like leaving bad reviews because Ive worked in the service industry for over a decade but this whole experience was just incredibly frustrating. I’ve been here before with a friend and that time we each got bagel sandwiches, which were fine but nothing to come back for. But we decided to share the bread pudding & we were both obsessed!! So good in all the ways! We were also glad we decided to share because it was perfect for two people. I came back today just for the bread pudding & was so disappointed. Came at a very random time, around 3pm, so there was only one other customer who already had their food. I ordered a bread pudding to go and waited a really long time for how long that order specifically should take & also because it was completely dead. I finally decided to ask who I ordered with how much longer and he completely forgot to make it, despite walking by and seeing me waiting me multiple times. He was clearly new to the restaurant & definitely seems like the service industry as well. Him & another server offered another bakery item because of the wait but none of it looked appetizing. I was willing to let it go when I left even though I was pissed for waiting around for so long for no reason. But then I get home & get something completely different. Nothing on their menu indicates that the bread pudding has changed in anyway. I don’t think he knew what it was because I open the box to see some kind of berry jam all over it. And weird small portions and awkward pieces. Nothing at all like what I had before. Also why put whipped cream on the side in a container & not this jam? But either way, this is not even what it’s supposed to be. I was so looking forward to it & it was just a weird tasting soggy mess. Never coming back here again. Complete waste of time and money.
