Opinions de Pasta Panino San Francisco
We enjoyed a nice lunch here in October 2025. Homemade Butternut squash ravioli with asparagus was delicious. Garlic bread was yummy. Friendly service and very relaxing.
A hidden gem of a place. The restaurant is unassuming and unfussy. Just sit down, order and enjoy your meal. The key to a good pasta place is that ingredients are fresh and it is served hot at the table. Pasta Panino nails it. Hot, delicious, fresh. Quantities are very generous for the price you pay. Service was great. Don’t miss out on the shaved Brussels sprouts.
Pasta Panino in the Castro District of San Francisco is a true hidden gem. The service was absolutely fantastic—attentive, welcoming, and efficient. The garlic cheese bread was delicious, though I’d recommend adding a bit more cheese for an extra indulgent touch. The lasagna, however, was simply off the charts—not only packed with incredible flavor but also served in an impressively generous portion. For anyone seeking quality Italian cuisine at a reasonable price, this spot is a must-visit. Highly recommended!
All you need is a table and chairs to enjoy good food! And that is exactly how I’d describe this place, may not look anything eye-catchy, but it has tables and chairs and the best food on the block! My favorite hole-in-the wall, locally owned Italian restaurant in the bay. The chef literally puts love into his plates, and the service is beyond friendly - it’s a place you would be proud to bring your Italian grandparents to!
Excellent, well prepared and fairly priced Italian food! The staff was super friendly and attentive and thoughtful enough to bring out 2 sharing plates for my husband I- we shared the plate of spaghetti and meatballs which was sufficient for 2 people and left space for more menu items. The calamari was DELICIOUS and a couple of fried lemon slices in it was a good touch. The spaghetti felt like good ole home cooking without the frills. I can't wait to go back!
I can’t speak to the atmosphere because I’ve only done curbside pickup which is awesome in SF. Parking is not fun here. The guys are always polite & even happily went back inside for condiments. Now the lasagne is the best I’ve had in a long time! I can’t stop thinking about it. 😂
Great food with quick and friendly service in a simple cafe environment. Recommendations to try are the Bruschetta starter and the Chicken Marsala main. Both are great!
We really enjoyed this new restaurant. I'm glad that this Italian gem is open instead of years of mediocre tacos and burritos. Dereck (sorry if I got the name wrong) was very attentive, knew his menu, and was very professional . Can't wait to try more items from the menu.
First time here and the servers were super accommodating. I even met the head chef or could’ve been the owner- I didn’t ask. But I enjoyed my meal! I had the spaghetti, Cesar salad and garlic bread … I pretty much ate everything lol Only disclaimer is they were pretty busy so it is pretty noisy but considering there a new business I am happy to support and happy others are supporting too !!! Also not lying about the prices .. you get so much food and you don’t break your bank !
Great local, no-frills Italian spot. The food is very fresh and flavorful and the owners and employees clearly put a lot of care into their work. My partner can’t eat gluten, and they had gluten-free penne or spaghetti available for her. I should also mention that the host is incredibly nice. We forgot both our box of leftovers and umbrellas, and he ran down the street to catch us with them in hand. Highly recommend coming here, and love having this as an option in the neighborhood!
Amazing, delicious, fantastic customer service, the owner of the restaurant came over and explained the menu to us, super friendly. ✨ I loved everything. ❤️ The food was on another level. I highly recommend this place. /// también hablan español. 😍
This restaurant has only been open for about a month now. I met the manager who is so passionate about this restaurant like it’s his baby. After working a long day at work, I wanted to treat myself and support a new business here in the Castro. The Bruschetta was DELICIOUS! OMG! I then had the Spaghetti con Polpette The spaghetti was cooked perfectly! The service was very attentive and the atmosphere was welcoming. I have to say that dining in the Castro is usually expensive but the prices and quality here was AMAZING! See you guys again soon! 👍🏾 I will be back 4 sure! 👍🏾
a meal at pasta panino feels like a warm embrace from family you haven’t seen in too long ❤️. my friends and i came by for dinner after walking past the restaurant a few days prior, noticing the amazing prices and bustling, homey vibes and smiling faces inside. i’m happy to say that after dining here, we were so pleasantly blown away by the whole experience. not only was everything delicious (all the pastas had great balance and texture, and the polenta fries in the polpette polenta were divine), but all of the staff were so caring, funny, and made you feel like you were a beloved regular, even with just our first visit. i will definitely be returning with lots of loved ones to share the joy that dining here brought me :-).
This was my first meal in SF and it was wonderful. I ordered the polenta fries and penne which were both really tasty. The polenta fries were crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside and came with a nice aioli. The penne was creamy, spicy, and a little sweet. The service was great.
An affordable neighborhood option. Tiramisu is a steal but if you consider the value so is everything else. It is a welcomed addition to a neighborhood struggling to keep restaurants. The team running feels like they’re working hard to hit the line between quality and low prices. Give them some love.

Really good, hearty Italian food! Highly recommend. Would have the best places to eat in the Castro. Decor could be nicer but food is great!
I ordered the calamari and I was blown away away by the lightness of the batter. The tenderness of the calamari, and the portions was generous. Rare these days do fine good calamari. I also ordered the creamy pesto linguini OMG with shrimp and again very generous with the shrimp. It was so good I sent for a second one. I ate like a little pig, but I do delivery almost daily and this I have to say is the best I’ve ever had. I might order sushi occasionally but from now on Pasta panino is my go to place for delivery. Once I ordered the garlic bread and it was cold and dry, with no flavor. I think garlic bread is better when you eat it at the restaurant. Overall I have to say the food here is amazing. Many thanks Pasta Panino ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
It’s great to have a casual dinner spot right in the Castro, perfect for dinner before a night out. Went with a group of 6 and had no problem grabbing a table on a Saturday night. The service was quick, food was hot and fresh, and vibe was warm. Nothing flashy, but gets the job done. The chicken marsala was really good, especially with the shaved Brussels sprouts and carrot — unusual, but delicious. The spaghetti con polpette is one of their signature dishes, and the meatballs are massive and filling. My one recommendation would be to consider sharing the pastas - of the 4 people at our table who ordered pastas, none could finish them. The portions are huge!
This is our favorite place ( only place) to eat i the Castro. The prices seem pretty reasonable by city standards. The service is friendly and quick but casual not formal. The pasta is really good. Perfectly cooked. there are a variety of dishes available. I like the basics. One glaring omission for me is chicken parm which I was really in the mood for. i do think the prices may have gone up a little since last time. They have good garlic bread and fried calamari. i had bread putting. The caramel glaze and the ice cream made it good but the bread pudding itself wasn't my favorite. The atmosphere and decor are basic. Everything about this place is simple and straightforward without pretense. Over all this continues to be our go to place in the castro.

I rarely write poor reviews but have a few thoughts about this restaurant. The Caesar salad and garlic bread was very tasty, but the butternut squash ravioli and chicken Marsala dishes would have Italian grandmothers rolling over in their graves. The butternut squash was covered in frozen corn and peas and very unappetizing. The $24 chicken Marsala was sliced, dry chicken over various sautéed vegetables. The sauce was unlike any chicken Marsala I have ever had without the taste of Marsala wine but almost like a spicy enchilada sauce. I really should have said something but I chose not to. If you are expecting authentic Italian food I would steer clear of this restaurant but if you are open to interesting new flavors this might be the spot for you. The Caesar salad was very tasty and well made but the two main dishes were not something I would order again. Please see the photos.

Very bad experience. Ordered pasta in creamy pesto and it was very bad. That was not pesto what they added..some whitish green sauce which did not taste like pesto at all. I ain’t an Italian but I know how pesto tastes atleast. Not happy with the food at all..
Twice I have ordered the salmon risotto and went out of my way to order medium rare. Both times received well done. I no longer can waste my money and support this restaurant
