I’ve been to many coffee shops in the Bay Area and this one is our favorite. Really great staff that guarantee you a good morning. Their Mochas and lattes are our favorite and is consistently done the way we like it. A unique shop that embodies everything I love about San Francisco

Fantastic inclusive coffee shop. I always stop here when I’m in San Francisco visiting from wherever whether it be west coast or east coast. Honestly as a fat chai latte stinge, this spot is one of the best chais I have had in California. The shop is cute and wonderfully setup with tree trunk tables and an open space for great conversation with friends, lovers, family, etc. Love the political stance, a good coffee shop should be unashamed to stand up for those who are unrepresented. The employees have always made me feel good and are efficient, fast but very friendly. Not an ideal space for working in all day but perfect for a morning coffee. The neighborhood is super dog friendly (although leave your dog outside on the doggy hitch posts lol). Love the everything cream cheese croissant. Thanks Pinhole, I visit you every time I’m in town.

Perfect place for a first date to check their height at the door 🤣 coffee is also great!

Phenomenal multi-roaster shop in all measures. Neighborhood charm with a modern but cozy and interesting aesthetic (ie, feels good to hang out - the local neighbors are!), great selection of top local coffee, and maybe most importantly staffers who are nice and have the skill and knowledge to prepare their product. They get the most of the beans, which I appreciate hugely!

What I like the most here is the vibe and decor of the shop. You can enjoy the neighborhood/community feel here. The shop encouraged to bring your own cup as well :) The coffee here is also great. I ordered the latte and it is very smooth. It might be too smooth that I don't feel the bitter taste of coffee lol. I tried pastry one and it is reasonable as well.

1st visit, best coffee in recent memory. Ethiopian Gelgelu pour over. Sweet citrusy aroma, taste matched (rare for me with coffee, wine..). Matcha scone was amazing, not too sweet. Love the fitout & atmosphere - lacquered raw wood seats, bench. 🌈 Polaroid inspired colors. Friendly staff. No WiFi.

Popular neighborhood coffee house in Bernal Heights that often draws a line in the morning. Small shop but there is a lovely parklet in front of the shop! I always have a flat white so it tastes more intense than a regular latte and I loved it. Also right off the bat, their coffee isn’t burning hot like many (or most) SF coffee shops. They carry pastries from a few local bakeries including Kahnfections. Bonus point: The cafe is partly a shop with some creative, funky stuff. Check out artworks on the wall as well as the mural on the outside. This is a business that is very invested in the local community with a very friendly crew working there.

Visited upon the recommendation of a family member and found it a gem of a coffeeshop. On top of the excellent sourcing/brewing of the coffee and the quite flavorful pastry, what really got me was the high level of service. For example, on top of the normal pleasantries I was given a time expectation for my pour-over and a small cup of drip to ease the wait. Will definitely be back whenever I’m in the city.

Cute coffee, owned with pride. Cream cheese and everything seasoned croissant good, not too heavy. The picolo was good, it was a pretty dark roast though, personally prefer more fruity notes

Nice cafe. No wifi. Coffee a little pricy but tasty. Not a racially diverse staff like they used to have which is disappointing, but overall a sweet spot.

I love places like this. Nestled in the middle of a community and very easy to pass if you're not looking for it. The interior is cute with hand drawn art on the wall, neon looking lighting on the ceiling, and natural wood seating. Definitely a vibey place to chill at and drink some coffee. The espresso tonic was good, but I think it could benefit from a little bit of sweetness. That is our fault for not requesting that, but we assumed the "tonic" (or seltzer water they used) would have some type of sweetness. I also ordered a cappuccino which was just okay. The beans they used for it didn't really complement the sweetness of the milk for me and as a result it just kind of fell flat for me. This place is most definitely still worth a try if you're in the area. It's a cute, locally owned business that serves good coffee and has kind people working.

Good area, good atmosphere, but the coffee was bad. My mocha just tasted like milk. I’m guessing they only give a single shot to save on costs, and not much mocha powder. For the price I don’t want to just walk around with a very cold cup of milk

I was about to become a regular at Pinhole Coffee and then had a bad incident yesterday so unfortunately it turned me against the coffee shop. I will not be returning to Pinhole even though i love their atmosphere and the arts and the coffee is fairly good. I walked from 16th & Valencia in the Mission all the way to Pinhole in Bernal Heights to get my long walk in and to get coffee cause I’m a recent fan and love their coffee & vibes. I ordered my usual - oat milk latte which costs $6.75 and $7.25 with the small tip I added and their cup size is smaller compared to some other coffee shops with similar vibes in the Mission. They were swamped when i arrived around 10-10.30am on Sunday and i waited in line and once my coffee was ready to pick up it wasn’t filled all the way so I asked them if they could add more coffee and they said no and said it’d be $2 for another shot of coffee. Then i protested cause let’s be real who wants to pay now $9.25 for a fairly small latte to be able to get an extra shot?! Sure we live in one of the most expensive cities in the country and pretty much the world but this is not a coffee shop in a swanky resort in Vegas or Arizona. I understand the small businesses in SF are struggling and need to keep their costs in check but STOP passing the burden to the end customer. I REFUSE to pay $9.25 for my smallest in town oat milk latte. So unfortunately, I will not be returning to Pinhole and I will go to Progressive Grounds which is a Bernal Heights original/ old school coffee shop. Let’s support more small businesses that are not ig-famous and spoiled but old school SF and trying to survive and even then offer superb customer service! Note: Photo is after i bought the latte but haven’t drank it yet for 3-5 min and the ice already melted quite a bit.
