Stopped in for a few drinks before dinner. The bar tender was friendly the atmosphere was great. Definitely a good place to hangout and drink a good adult beverage.

It's an awesome dive bar. Good beer on tap, good booze, just not spot to seek for high-end wine. TVs are relatively small, so only so-so for a sports bar.

If you want to meet real people in an unpretentious, warm and friendly bar Shanhhai's is for you. Watch sports, sing along to the juxebox just grab a drink and enjoy. Make sure you say "hi" to Mark who has been running this great bar longer than some of his patrons have been alive!

Always packed and fun, great for people watching and rowdy sporting events.

I do not know how one could not enjoy their time at Shanghai Kelly’s. Insane atmosphere and full of my fellow Bostonians. The owner is super down to earth and awesome! Could not reccomend a better place to grab a Tully shot and watch your favorite team!

My only pet-peeve is there is no happy hour, but I hear that is for the, " young people's bar " as the lady says. They pride themselves on being here for 29 years. The best part, the decorations in the men's bathroom! Most hilarious postings I have seen, esp. the one w/ the two little kids! Go here, relax, meet the locals, travelers. If you are going here for a deal, it's a split down the middle, like in bowling.

A friendly local neighborhood bar, decked with odd collectables and momentos. Sports TVs on the walls and a great bar tender. I watched the final of the Olympic soccer here and the bar tender was kind to allow me to bring in the coffee I purchased earlier.

Oh yeah, been coming here since 1998. Just introduced my new wife from Cincinnati to it and she loved it. She can wear jeans and heels or wear a black sleeveless dress at the top of the Mark. will definitely be back.

Eh. I've heard so many cool things about Shanghai Kelly's over the years and finally decided to visit. After the standard ID check at the door, I was met with a very curt and unfriendly bartender. Any "legendary local" bar should have a friendly face on their establishment. I frequent an embarrassingly amount of bars in this city. Anyway, I ordered a beer and a shot. Took in the decor while I chatted with my friends. Then left to spend my money elsewhere. I guess this place didn't live up to the hype for me. That and the cranky lady behind the bar just didn't have me wanting more. Maybe it was an off night, maybe I was expecting too much. Regardless, 3 stars for the decor and cold beer.

Rowdy and smells like stale beer. All the makings of a good dive bar. Avoid it during Pittsburgh Packers games if you aren't a fan.

They do not accept our passport so we can support the credit card that has the same name on my passport to be able to buy something.

I was there last Saturday as a tourist because they told us that Polk St had cool bars for young people with good vibes… People there were very cool but the female bartender kills the vibe real quick, she probably had issues or something. We left to other places and confirmed that Polk st was cool

I stopped here on the way back to my hotel just to use the restroom. Was stopped by guy in a beard who asked for ID and said it wasn’t a public restroom, which, ok fine? However, he then suggests I go to a fire department (really it was not that serious)… I’m not sure if the assumption was that I was homeless but it definitely felt racial profile-y.

The staff are very unfriendly. I have never been treated so badly in a bar.

We arrived as a group of 8 and everyone presented an official ID or driver’s license (Belgian, Portuguese, passports). However, the guy at the bar refused to accept my French ID card, even though it is an official European document with the same format and validity as the others in our group. He told me I could not stay in the establishment, without giving any clear explanation. When I pointed out that my friends had just entered moments before using similar identification under my eyes, he still asked me to leave again. This treatment was absolutely shameful, unjustified, and felt clearly discriminatory. I strongly advise others to think twice before visiting this place, especially if not US citizen.
