Opinions de The Beer Hall San Francisco
Stopped into The Beer Hall while visiting San Francisco and was really impressed. The beer selection is excellent—any place with a saison on tap earns extra points in my book. The food was solid as well; I actually enjoyed the pretzel more than the burger, but I’d happily order both again. It was fairly quiet when I arrived, but people kept pouring in as the evening went on. The real standout was the bartender, Betsy. She was incredibly personable and attentive, keeping an eye on everyone without hovering. Wish I had discovered this spot sooner.
The Beer Hall is one of those spots that instantly feels right the moment you walk in. The vibe is cool and relaxed, with a lively energy that makes it perfect for meeting friends, unwinding after a long day, or settling in for a casual night out. It strikes a great balance between laid-back and social without ever feeling overcrowded or chaotic. The beer selection is excellent, with a wide range of options that cater to just about every taste. Whether you’re into crisp lagers, bold IPAs, or something a little more adventurous, there’s plenty to choose from. Everything we tried was fresh and well poured, making it easy to enjoy more than one without feeling overwhelmed by the menu. One thing that really stood out is the food menu. There’s a solid variety of options that pair perfectly with the beer, so it’s not just a place to drink, it’s a place to actually enjoy a full experience. The menu feels thoughtfully put together, with choices that are satisfying, shareable, and ideal for a relaxed beer hall setting. The Beer Hall delivers on all fronts: atmosphere, beer, and food. It’s the kind of place you can casually stop into and end up staying longer than planned. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a great beer selection, good eats, and a genuinely enjoyable vibe.
This is a great spot. My favourite bar when visiting SF was Mikkeller and I as soon as I walked in I knew the building I was in. The new owner has done an amazing job taking over this place with plenty of great beers on tap and the food is amazing. I had the chicken sandwich which was delicious and very substantial. I’m glad this familiar friend of mine is in great hands.
From the moment we walked into The Beer Hall, the vibes were on point—killer music, a lively yet chill atmosphere, and a space that just felt fun. But as good as the scene was, the food and drinks took things to a whole new level. We kicked things off with the Rösti & Roe—a dish layered with flavor. Creamy, minty, tangy—every bite was a little complex surprise that totally worked. Next up, the Pretzel & Welsh rarebit sauce, and let me tell you, that sauce blew us away. Rich beer cheese cooked down with mustard, served hot and fresh—it was bold, comforting, and impossible to stop dipping. We wrapped it up by sharing the Fried Chicken Sandwich, which hit the perfect balance of crisp and juicy. Fresh toppings (tomatoes, lettuce, pickles) and a zesty spread that was, quite literally, “French kiss” good. Service was also amazing. Randy was super helpful, answered all our menu questions, and offered great recommendations that totally delivered. Fair prices, solid pours, and food that punches above its weight—The Beer Hall nailed it. We’ll be back again…and again…and, yeah, again.
Excellent beer and food in a welcoming atmosphere! Was walking distance from my hotel so I found myself here many times throughout my week, sampling some great beers (many from Russian River, love it) and menu items (Drew’s wings, market salad, & new burger). Loved it all, really fresh ingredients & a ton of flavor, in a nice environment with friendly folks.
Traveling for work and needed a place to watch a hockey game. Got the burger and it was so damn good. Single patty, so nothing massive but such great flavor and just really solid. Wings were also amazing. Great selection of tap beers and an amazing selection of sours! Highly recommend!
Great vibe. Bartenders exhibit excellent customer service. Ordered flatbread margherita and it was ok, but honestly it could have used a bit more flavor, such as salt 🧂Italian seasoning and pepper and garlic 🧄 powder. (I am part Italian and that is how I would have made it.) The pretzel was perfectly made with just the right amount of salt. The sauce was good with a bit of tang. The bartenders are very nice and friendly. Maya and Lloyd were exceptional.
October 2024: Cool spot to hang out and enjoy a beer 🍻. Selection was quite extensive. Tried a humble sea NEIPA and was very pleased. For food, tried the potato cakes. Was very impressed with the quality and taste of the food. Next level bar food! Service was very friendly and attentive. People there know their beers!
Fried chicken sandwich was over the top. On another day I had a legit pretzel that rivaled Germany! Great little find with great beer selections and phenomenal food! Music and wide screen TVs are a huge plus. Pop on in, you’ll like it!
The Beer Hall is a great spot! The food is delicious, and it's super kid-friendly, which makes it perfect for families. The service is excellent—friendly and quick. Highly recommend if you're looking for good food and a great atmosphere!
The things you will see here will change your mind about who we are as a people and what we believe in. The servers here believe in you, their view has hope, which most don’t want to believe exists… but we believe in it. Believe you me, this is the place for good beer, fresh fries and cheese beer sauce. YUM
Great place! They even have some vegan options, hehe 😜

Great place not far from Union Square. Hidden gem close on the edge of the tenderloin.
A nice new surprise in the neighborhood. Lots of interesting local beers on tap and some delicious bar type food, I had the fried chicken sandwich, delicious! Unfortunately for them it was not very busy on a Wednesday night, but the bartenders were very educated in their food / tap selections, and seemed happy to work there. Plenty of TVs too if sports is what you’re looking for. The owner was around, himself very personable too, and we had a nice chat about his product and desires for the space, as well as local beer of course! I found the quality, service levels, and atmosphere much more chill and to my adult liking than the Golden Gate Taproom (which is sometimes very crazy and not so much attention to details), a similar type venue in the same neighborhood. Just off market and close to many hotels for the travelers. I’ll definitely be back, I think this is my new “local”, when in town.
A classical "hole in the wall", a place which does not look like a lot, but after dinner there, you think it was a great place and you had good wine or good beer and good food. It it a beer house, you get beer, music, and good sandwiches and burgers. Good food, nice employees, attentive service, and reasonable for San Francisco downtown prices. Worth a visit if you are hungry.
Good stouts and the food is a step above your usual bar faire without being exorbitantly expensive. Staff are friendly and upbeat. Will come again
So great to see this place open! Interesting beer selection and we split a terrific burger. We will definitely be back
Came on a Monday night and it was a very chill vibe. Most people were at the bar but we also came for dinner. Had the TBH* burger with added avocado and fries (which were great but an additional $3 for fries was odd). The burger was super flavourful. Only hiccup was getting a huge amount of pickle when asking for none and no avocado in the burger but it happens and it was rectified quickly. Got some samples of drinks before ordering so I recommend having a couple of samples since they have a good list. They have a couple of sours and ciders on draft as well. Overall, friendly staff and I’d recommend this place for both drinks and a bite. 😊
We happened to be walking past on a Saturday evening and were drawn in by the large TVs and sheer volume of beers on tap. We were thrilled with the atmosphere, spectacular service and excellent beer selection that took us back to when we lived in Wisconsin. We plan to come back to this unexpected find!
Stopped on for a couple beers before a show tonight and got the market salad as a light snack. It was one of the best things I've eaten in a long while. And Humble Sea on tap? C'mon....

I showed up for the amazing craft beer selection, but was actually very pleasantly surprised by the food!! We got the pretzel and rarebit sauce to share, I got the mac and cheese, and my partner got the fried chicken sandwich. Pretzel and sauce was great, no notes. The mac and cheese was SO good. Really rich and creamy, not a dry, crumbly cheese noodle to be found. The fried chicken sandwich was huge and my partner gave it a rave review. If you’re in the area doing some shopping or need a place to grab a drink and/or a bite before or after a show, come here!!!
I was there for an election debate watch party because I couldn't get into the debate site and this was the spillover viewing room. The waitress told me to leave if I didn't order anything. And was rather rude about it. I had just eaten, and looking at the food and the price they charged for it, I wouldn't want to get anything even if I was hungry. She kept saying it's a business and everyone else had ordered something. Got right up to my face and said, are you going to order something or not in a forceful tone. I said no, I didn't want to be forced. Then she said I'm going to have to ask you to leave. Other people including the organizer offered to buy me something, but I said no, it's a matter of principle and I don't want them, especially the waitress to get anything. I get that it's a business, but it was an event. There was a roomful of people and she couldn't let one person sit? Don't plan any events there. She also kept saying to the organizer that other people had done it before while giving me dirty looks. I think maybe she judged me by my appearance and thus the rude manner. I've attended other such event before at other venues, sometimes I'll get something, sometimes I don't. But never was asked to leave if I don't buy something.. I won't be back there. Bad area too - I thought one of the sketchy people was following me. I ran down to the subway. It was not even 7 o'clock.
