Opinions de The Snug San Francisco
I’ve ordered from Chouquet’s before on Uber Eats and it was so good that I had to come in and try it in person, and it was amazing! The staff were so friendly and attentive. Roy and Stefan were especially great and made us feel so welcome. My family and I came in to celebrate my brother’s birthday, and Roy surprised him with a delicious birthday crème brûlée. The food itself was incredible. Our table was split between the Short Rib (tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked) and the Steak & Fries, which came with a rich black peppercorn sauce that tied the whole dish together beautifully. My brother and I both have gluten allergies, and Roy took the time to go through the menu and explain everything thoroughly. They had plenty of gluten-free options, which made dining here so easy and enjoyable. I highly recommend Chouquet’s for anyone looking for great food, warm service, and an overall wonderful dining experience. We’ll definitely be back!
Nice place in the Fillmore to enjoy authenticl French food. Quick service and pleasant atmosphere.
Favorite French restaurant in SF! Love the live Jazz on the weekends. Have tasted the whole menu and lots of great classics… My favorites are the French Onion Soup and the Short Rib.
After a full day of walking around San Francisco with my wife, we found ourselves in the Pacific Heights neighborhood and decided to stop at Chouquet. From the moment we arrived, we could tell this place was special. The Owner himself was hosting, running around, and making sure every guest was taken care of. His candor, jokes, and genuine hospitality stood out immediately. He took the time to share stories, complimented my wife and me, and made us feel like regulars on our very first visit. That personal touch, combined with excellent food, made the entire experience memorable. I’m the kind of diner who values great meals paired with authentic people and Chouquet delivers exactly that. With 20 years in this location, it’s clear you don’t last that long without being truly good. Thank you to the Owner and the entire team for creating such a welcoming, neighborhood driven dining experience. - Aram
I have spent many a Sunday Morning Brunch here! The menu isn't cluttered with too many option but what is there is good! I absolutely recommend the eggs Benedict and their drinks are great as well!
I love this neighborhood French cuisine restaurant, especially for brunch on the weekends when they would sometimes bring in a live jazz band to play next to their outdoor dining tables. Their niçoise salad is deconstructed and absolutely delicious. Can’t go wrong with anything on their menu really, sometimes I would also order their mussels or steak.
The food is incredible; entrees are beyond rich with flavors and unique to the French cuisine. I don’t think I have had a meal that delicious in a long time - the Coq a vin was “unreal” good. I cannot overstate that. Staff was friendly, pricing was fair. Would recommend a reservation because it seems like they fill up quick.
I absolutely love Chouquet’s! Their beef bourguignon is rich and flavorful, and the duck confit is perfectly crispy on the outside and tender inside. The service is excellent, very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it a perfect spot for a cozy meal. Highly recommend!
Great little restaurant! All the food was great. We had french onion soup, burger and quiche lorraine. All the food was very tasty. Salad was fresh, burger was big and yummy, quiche was also very soft and delicious, and the French onion soup was rich and tasty. Will definitely come back!
Awesome vibes and amazing food! Our waiter was so knowledgeable when it came to accommodating for gluten free options. We will definitely be going back soon!
This place was absolutely amazing! Very intimate setting and the staff were so personable and attentive, We celebrated a birthday here for 2 and will definitely be going back just because! Shoutout to Maria and our server whose name I didn’t catch. Next time, though!
My wife and I were in the neighborhood and stopped in for dinner. Restaurant was delicious, service was excellent, espresso was strong. We ordered the Short Rib and the Canard Confit. Delicious, full of flavor and cooked to perfection. My wife is also gluten-free and these menu items were appropriate without modification. Will absolutely be back.
Chouquet’s is an amazing restaurant! I really love it! it’s one of the only truly authentic French spots in SF. The service is fantastic: super attentive without being over the top. The food is great and traditional (and well beyond just moules frites… ), and they have an easygoing but really good wine selection. Whenever people ask me for my top three restaurants in SF, this is one of them. See you next time!
After being turned away from a nearby restaurant due to a reservation miscommunication, we arrived at Chouquet’s, a French bistro, on the corner of Fillmore and Washington Streets, on a busy Friday night without a reservation. Although the dining room was fully booked, we were offered a table for two on the patio. We were seated promptly and our server, Mark, whom we discovered was also the wine buyer, made a couple of excellent wine recommendation to pair with our menu selections: delicious French onion soup and a perfect quiche. We couldn’t resist dessert and shared a Crème Brulée and Apple Tatin, followed by a complimentary glass of Sauterne, a perfect ending to a most enjoyable dining experience where the combination of excellent food wine, and professional service made it a memorable evening. Note: In the French style of dining, Chouquet’s is not a dine-and-dash restaurant, rather it’s a place to wine, dine, and savor the ambiance and overall experience.
Stunning patio, attentive and fun staff! My nitpick would be some dishes were under seasoned. 10/10 onion soup. All food was enjoyable and fresh- high recommend.
Great selection of spirits! The staff is super knowledgeable and atmosphere is relaxed. Almost everything is made in house and makes for some of the freshest cocktails.
Drinks are definitely pricey even by SF standards. But great bar program. Food is cheap and yummy. The service was exceptional! The vibe was relaxed and chill.
The vibe is so much better than the photos let on. It’s 10/10. The Buzz Button is the best cocktail I’ve ever had!
Went here for drinks and had a great experience. The buzz button cocktail was soooo interesting. Never had experienced such a sensation in my mouth with cocktails! We also got the citrus cinnamon mocktail and it was so on point.
Stumbled upon this place while walking around Pacific Heights. Great cocktail bar in a nice location / neighbourhood. The cocktails were interesting and unique, a great place to have a few drinks before heading for dinner. The decor is great and the staff friendly and attentive; such a fun place in San Francisco.
Since they have moved to become more of a cocktail bar, I was disappointed to know their famous sandwiches were not something have the chance to try, though I had their chicken burritos - and they were amazing. Also must get is their nachos and guacamole side. The guacamole was sooo good. Oof. Every drink on our table was amazing. I can see why they would want to focus on just drinks. It’s their forte. I had the hot toddy -and it was exactly how I was imagining it to come out. Perfect.
The best bar/restaurant experience imo is having qr codes to order and close out from. I personally hate finishing my time and then waiting to pay. The snug gets this right with the addition of top notch food and cocktails. The hummus was packed with flavor from the shiitakes and the patio had ample heaters to keep warm on a brisk evening.
Wonderfully, random find in Pacific Heights. Felt as though I was a regular from the first few moments I was here. Staff was courteous, friendly, and attentive. Gave off a family vibe, with subtle music. Great selection cocktails, and small pub-type menu. I have not been here in later evenings, but have been informed that is a lively and happy place. I would so recommend this establishment based merely on their service - anything above and beyond, is just the icing. 😊
Saturday around 4pm rolled in to plenty of outdoor booths - heated, private little benches for your group. They band you after checking ID and everything is done online. From placing the order via phone to food & drinks coming out was super speedy and prompt. Was actually surprised at the speed. All of the drinks we tried were so yummy. The PB Milk Punch was a special hit for me - liquid peanut butter - YUM! Such a nice area to meet up and hang out with an awesome ambiance, food, and dranks.
This place was a gem, came here Saturday morning with some friends after walking around Pacific Heights. The Peach Rum Nitro has a refreshing flavor that’s a good drink for brunch, the avocado toast was solid, delicious and satisfying so pairing that for a more healthier option like the peach salad was cool. Trust me I definitely wanted the breakfast burger but I controlled the urge. The service was attentive and not too overshadowing. The wait also was long at all maybe like 15 minutes so on a sunny day this is a cool spot, I’ll definitely be back to try that breakfast burger.
A good French delivery option. Have been wanting to try this place out for a while and I was not disappointed. The food was simple but really delicious. Authentic and made with superb ingredients. The roast chicken was done really well but the salmon salad was crazy good. Nice portion sizes too. Should’ve gotten a dessert. Deux glasses up 🍷🍷
I really liked the salmon! Such a fun place to stop for lunch on a busy day of shopping.
Came here as a group of 7 on a Wednesday night. Restaurant was half full when we arrived at 7 and filled up as the night went out. Service was friendly and relaxed -- not rushed which gave us lots of time to chat and catch up. Waiter was friendly and had great recommendations: across wine, entree, desserts. We mostly had: Steak, beef bourg. On the fries, if you enjoy truffle flavor, add the truffle oil -- it really makes the fries even yummier! The Steak medium rare was nicely executed with a nice pepper sauce. Beef bourg was tender with a lovely flavor. The apple tart is very yum! And we enjoyed the bordeaux the waiter recommended. Overall, lovely, cozy restaurant that's great for a group catch up.
The staff were incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was excellent — warm, welcoming, and lively. However, the food could use a bit of improvement. The butter lettuce salad had too many shallots and needed more seasoning for balance. Both of our main dishes were enjoyable, though they didn’t quite stand out. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, and with a few small tweaks to the menu, it could be truly great.
Awesome spot for a drink or a date! Loved the vibe inside and staff were very helpful in finding vegan options. They can do a vegan burger with lettuce bun (no vegan cheese), fries and a salad and there are a few other apps available. I got the salad and fries which were pretty good but next time I’ll only get drinks.
Solid spot in Pacific Heights. It was easy to do a walk in and find parking nearby. It does feel a bit cramped with the seating style but they make the most of the seating by the window and communal seating vibe. Drinks were good. Highly recommend the prickly pear. We also ordered an old fashion and came with a glass half full and noting that they seem to charge a $1 if you ask for a large ice cube. Food was good, the naan and mushroom hummus has a strong mushroom flavor so best if you’re sharing as it can be overwhelming after multiple bites. The steamed buns were super delicious too and a treat since we don’t order those often. They also add an automatic 20% to your bill so just be cautious. Wish they would just add it to their pricing and remove that addition but everywhere seems to be leaning on this.
I wish I had a better review for this place, but I don't. We were forced to sit outside with no heat lamps on a really cold and drizzly San Francisco evening. The woman we encountered at the door said it would take quite a while to get a table inside. We were the only party sitting outside. The concept: you order food - via an app - from Tacos Primo next door. Staff interacted with us just once to deliver the order. No return, no water, limited cutlery on a 20 percent tip, which was paid when we ordered. The food was just okay: nothing to rave about. Drinks were also just okay. And when I went inside to use the bathroom, I saw two empty tables, but no one invited us inside, despite the cold weather. Disappointing...
The entire experience was bad. We had a big group (8) that made a same night reservation on open table. When we showed up at that time, they told us “we don’t have a table, come back in 45 mins.” When we came back, we waited again for another(!) 45 mins as they told us “five more minutes” over and over. Just tell us the truth lol! Finally, we were sat outside and the host/server/owner(?) had the audacity to correct my fiancé’s French pronunciation. The food was mediocre at best (don’t get the burger!), though the cheese plate featured Delice De Bourgogne, which we enjoyed. Morale of the story: don’t make a reservation on OpenTable here — they don’t check it!
Im local to the area and used to love the cocktails at this place. Not sure if it was an off night or the quality of the drinks has actually gone down. Tried a new “spicy” drink which was wayy to spicy and not balanced in my opinion. I told the bartender the same and all he had to say was - “it’s perfectly balanced. You just dont like it”!! Folks, i can agree to disagree in most cases but I have had my fair share of spicy drinks at atleast 10 bars that have been voted best in north america across 3 countries. Quality Drinks are supposed to be balanced and one flavor should not overpower all others! What’s more - my husband ordered a martini but was given a margarita! The usual favorite- Aloe vera had wayy too much egg white foam on top which completely threw it off balance. I am sadly downgrading this spot to only order wine, beer or premixed cocktails on tap like margaritas. If you fancy a good cocktail - go to PCH ,alembic, the interval at long now, true laurel. Will get a MUCH better deal for your money. Never ever had a bad cocktail at these spots! For spots closer to fillmore try - Blind pig speakeasy, smugglers cove.
Not particularly busy, but service was difficult with people regularly waiting. Either staff, or friends of the bartenders were at the end taking all the attention of the young lady and young man bartenders. Clear frustration from customers trying to order or get their check. Unfortunately we were seated beside their party for one drink, and the least 4 shots they shared in that time took up a lot of their time.
The atmosphere in this bar was very nice, however the drinks are very overpriced for an okay drink and the service was not good. The man that served us at the bar was very rude for no apparent reason. I was disappointed as I have heard good things about this bar and was looking forward to it.
I did not like this place lol. Drinks are interesting but not good and the bartender wasn’t very helpful (asked for sweet drink suggestions and she seemed a little confused lol). ambiance was interesting but demographic is def older. also drinks overpriced for what you’re getting 90% ice and 10% drink. wouldn’t go again tbh
I have been coming to The Snug for two years. Last night, my friend and I were treated very rudely by a woman named Maria. I will never come back or recommend this place to anyone! It was the worst customer service experience I have ever had in my life. When we arrived for a drink after dinner, Maria stopped us saying there was a private function and to return in 20 minutes. She was lying. There were four people in the front room on the left as you enter, and the remainder (not many) were sitting at a bar or at tables. There was no function. I have been to many functions in my life and organised them myself. In the interim, we decided to head over to Palmers which had just reopened and we received lovely service. I wanted to head back to The Snug because I was flying internationally the next day and the Prickly Pear cocktail was a favourite cocktail of mine. When we came back a short while later, Maria said at 10pm that the bar staff are too busy to serve us and will close soon. It was utter rubbish. There were three bar staff behind the bar and the place wasn’t busy. I reminded her she told us to come back and I said that I’m flying internationally tomorrow because my father passed away and I only want one of my favourite cocktails. She didn’t budge and had no empathy or care. She made us feel very unwelcome. I left feeling she was racist and ageist. They were the only reasons I could come up with why she was so horrible to me and my friend. Basically, if you are blonde, green eyed, and not in your 20s you are not welcome at The Snug. Looking back on Palmers, they had a diverse mix of customers, but it was obvious Maria was letting a certain type of crowd into The Snug. Thankfully, we moved on to another bar where we were warmly welcomed for our last drink of the night—so the evening ended well, even though Maria almost ruined it.
We had a lunch there a couple of days ago and it was one of the most disappointing experiences. First off all it was cold and raining. The heater was on but it was so weak that we couldn't feel any heat at all. The Wagyu burger was well done. What is the point of using good meat if you overcook it? Moscow mule had vodka in it that gave it a taste of rubbing alcohol. Lox sandwich was just lumps of smoked salmon in a pita bread. I wish there were other ingredients as the taste of salmon was overwhelming. On top of the sandwich there was mound of herbs and onions that fell all over the table as soon as i tried to lift it. The only thing I enjoyed was the Hot whisky ginger toddy that was perfect got that cold day and quite delicious. Our bill for two drinks and two dishes was $75. I left $20 in cash for tips on top (servers should not be punished for bad cooking).
