Awesome dumpling joint that also sells 2 kinds of beef noodle soup. Dumplings are hand wrapped in store and can be viewed from the dining area through a glass pane. Noodles are fresh, probably not hand pulled, but still very q. Prices are extremely affordable. As of 05/24/21 dine in is available but seating has been reduced.
This place amazes me with clean yet tasty flavor of noodle soup and dumplings. They have quite a few unique stuffings. You can be stuffed simply by just the noodle soup, but you can't resist many more dishes they offer here. So come with friends and family so you can try many things.
I ordered Lamb&Carrot dumplings, Napa Cabbage & Pork Dumpling, Zucchini & Egg Dumpling, Shitake Mushroom & Sole Fish Dumpling and Green Pepper & Sole Fish Dumpling. Everything was delicious and great! I love lamb and carrot dumpling when I was young but not many restaurants have this flavor. Their dumplings are hand made which you can tell by the taste! Price is reasonable.
For $37 my husband and I ate more than we could finish! Such a deal for delicious dumplings, beef noodle soup, and salad. We would definitely go back again for a date night. And to boot we had a great view of the chefs in the kitchen meticulously craving each dumpling. Be warned that there is a bit of a wait, but it's totally worth it.
Came into SF to visit family and got some dishes to share. Food/Taste/Flavor: 5/5 - ordered 3 dumpling dishes of: Shiitake Mushroom & Fish Dumpling, Celery & Pork Dumpling, and Pork & Three Delicacies. Since it's hand made, some of the dumplings were very uneven in ingredients (not in size) which made some very sweet or sour based on the filling. The wrappings had a nice bite without being too chewy and they provided two dipping sauces with a spicy and a vinegar based soy sauce. Each person has a different favorite but they were enjoyed across the board. House Special Beef Noodles had a generous portion of beef and a nice clear broth that was earthy without being too salty. Maybe since we got it to go, the noodle didn't absorb much flavors from the soup but it still have good texture. Hot and spicy beef tendon had a kick that is very enjoyable. These are thin cut slices that pack a punch in flavor Ambience: N/A - ordered food to go but it's nicely decorated and looks clean. You can see through the window to how they're wrapping and preparing the dumplings Service: 5/5 - quick and efficient! It's SF so they do check COVID card at the door if you're choosing to eat at the restaurant. We arrived at lunch hours and was quoted about 20 minutes for the food to be ready Value for price: 5/5 - very tasty and reasonable in price. We were surprised at the charges for the to go boxes but we were reassured that it's fairly normal in SF
Walked pass this restaurant for a while and finally I can try it. It is not a big restaurant and they have only 2 types of noodle soup, dumplings and some appetizers. There is show-case of dumplings making so that you can see chefs making dumplings. There are around 7 types of dumplings(make fresh for each order) I ordered shrimp & zucchini one but it is just so so for me. I’ll try something else next time. Pig’s ear is my favorite. Love it. Spicy beef noodle is good as well. The best thing is good price which is pretty hard to find in San Francisco now. I will go there again for sure :)
Small but so good! We ordered four orders of dumplings (two fish, one pork and one shrimp) and they are all so delicious, especially the fish dumplings they are quite special! Dumplings are hand made therefore the texture is really good. Two side dishes are tasty too. The three of us ate everything! Folks working at the restaurant are friendly and accommodating. We'll be back!
Fortunately didn't have to wait to get seated but it really depends on your timing. The pig ear tendon thing had skme pretty spicy spots for me. The dumplings were really good and filling. The mushroom one tastes quite good, haven't had that flavor profile before. Would definitely come here again! Food doesn't take too long.
Would definitely come back for the beef noodles alone! Pretty spicy though. It is rare for me to actually like eating the dumpling skin more than the contents of the dumpling. They do not sell frozen dumplings by bulk but you can order the dumplings raw and bring them home to cook or freeze. We ordered the shitake mushroom/fish raw to go so we shall see how that goes. The waitress was very tentative and gave me special instructions on how to store/cook it at home. What a gem of a place!
This is one of my favorite neighborhood eats. I highly recommend their beef noodle soup with pickled cabbage, tofu skin salad, seaweed salad, cucumber salad, & the 3 delicacies dumplings. It tastes like they use good quality and fresh ingredients. There is a line on weekends, so you may have to wait a bit during busy hours. They also have frozen dumplings that you can purchase for takeaway to make at home!
Good experience overall. Small place, offering indoor dining tables with a maximum of 20 people seated. Clean restaurant, and glass window that allows you to see the dumplings that are made to order. Had the shrimp & egg dumplings in soup, with side order of noodle that I put in my soup. Unfortunate that the noodles are extra cost. They do offer noodle soups, like beef, but if you order dumplings in soup, the noodle is an add-on. The broth of the soup is very simple, so you definitely need to dress it up with some hot chili oil, soy sauce, and vinegar to meet your taste preference. The dumplings are amazing! You can taste the freshness. The wrapper's texture is soft. The ingredients inside were fresh egg & greens w/one small shrimp. I can definitely see this as a comfort food after a night of drinking. This place does a great job, and I don't have to look anywhere else for fresh dumplings.
Had this sitting in my bookmark for a while and finally got to try it out. Scheduled an order on UberEats and came in still piping hot! Usually restaurants don't really pay attention to the notes/special instructions on your order.. or at least they don't for me.. but Yuanbao Jiaozi did a fantastic job at taking the time to read and fulfill my order/requests. I had asked for non-spicy for my noodles and some extra sauce on the side, and they made sure to get my order correct. As a customer, I appreciate them for their attentiveness. 「 O R D E R E D + V E R D I C T 」 1. House Special Beef Noodle Soup | 5/5: Probably one of the best beef noodles I've had in a while. Beef cubes and slices were super tender. Noodles were cooked perfectly. Soup was flavorful and coated the noodles well! 2. Shiitake Mushroom and Fish Filet | 4/5: These dumplings are less dense than normal dumplings because of the minced sole fish instead of the usual pork fillings. I think I'd prefer pork over fish. But overall, the dumpling was good! Very flavorful. You can taste the shiitake mushrooms. Skin wasn't too thick or thin. Going to have to try their soup dumplings next time! Overall, 4.5 stars! 07.22.2022 | Thursday @4:15pm
Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: One of my go to noodle places. The extended review... Food: House Special Beef Noodle Soup - 5/5 - The dish a pretty plentiful and is delicious. There is a good amount of beef and the noodles are a good texture. Service: 4/5 - Friendly and attentive service. Ambiance: 4/5 - Seating is a little limited but if you have only 2 people it seems to be a quick wait.
My SO and I dropped by here randomly for dinner and tried the fish and shiitake dumplings in soup and the shrimp and egg dumplings. We really enjoyed both! I preferred the fish dumplings but my SO loved the shrimp and egg ones, so clearly they're doing something right. Watch the dumpling gurus form the dumplings by hand, fresh to order, and enjoy the dumplings seasoned as you like with the chili oil, soy sauce, and vinegar available at each table. Prices are reasonable and service is about what one can expect. We'll be back!
Wonderful place with a small but delicious menu of noodles and dumplings. The food was light and extremely fresh. Everything is handmade fresh to order. The spicy noodles are the best! We’ll try the appetizers next time! Prices are very reasonable but there’s a short wait for the table.
The moment we opened the door of the restaurant, it smelled really good. We had celery & peanut, cucumber salad, celery & pork dumplings, Napa cabbage & pork dumplings and shrimp &chive & egg dumpling with soup. They are all freshly made in front of you and super delicious. I especially love dumplings with thick and chewy skin. Will definitely come back again if I have the chance. You can also buy frozen dumplings too. Wish I could take them on a airplane.😆
Yuanbao Jiaozi offers delicious, handmade dumplings packed with fresh flavor and satisfying texture. The menu features plenty of variety, from classic pork fillings to vibrant vegetarian options, all served hot and comforting. With quick service, fair prices, and consistently tasty dishes, it’s a standout spot for authentic, flavorful dumplings.
Their house special beef noodle soup was delicious. Brisket was very tender, noodles are springy and hold the soup great, the broth is very flavorful. The pork, shrimp, chive and egg dupmplings were also very good. Nice thin skin, great filling. At 3pm, no problem getting a table for one. You will also get your food very fast.
Yummy dumpling place on Irving St and the prices are extremely affordable for what they offer! I got a beef noodle soup (non-spicy) and it soothed my soul, super delicious and it has that dark but also tender broth. I also tried the Pork and Napa Cabbage dumpling soup and it was light and filling (12 dumplings in the soup). This spot is great for solo-dining and the service is attentive and friendly. Parking in the area is pretty hard so do plan ahead!
Can’t go wrong with their dumplings. So many per order (14), so best to go with a group to try more flavours. We had the pork and cabbage & the shrimp, egg, and chive - would highly recommend both! The beef noodle soup was also great, but ended up being overshadowed by the dumplings.
5/5 spot for beef noodle soup also don’t sell yourself short and not get at least an order of the dumplings. My fave is the shrimp/egg/chive dumpling. Be prepared to wait if you come on a busy hour
You must get the beef noodle soup and cucumber salad and any of the dumplings. I personally was surprised by how much I loved the green pepper some fish ones.
10/10 no notes! Highly recommend the beef noodle soup with pickled Chinese cabbage & the shrimp, pork, chives & egg dumplings in soup. Perfect for this change in season.
Big handmade dumpling selection (comes in sets of 14) and great noodles. Spicy tendon was cool and refreshing. Wish I came with a bigger group so I could try more types of dumplings, or if they had a dumpling flight (do they exist?). Boba and mochi donuts nearby for dessert.
We went for lunch during the week and we had a table right away. Service is quick and efficient. My son had the beef noodles which were very tender. Dumplings were amazing, with a large variety to choose from, not to mention, frozen ones to purchase. On my way to the restrooms, I saw them making the dumpling skins from scratch and the thickness of them were perfect, not too thin nor thick. I'm definitely going back!
Marinated beef was surprisingly nice - even though the beef pieces were cold / not hot. I just wish they had a few more options without egg. I’m allergic to egg but most of the soup / regular dimsum options had egg in them.
The dumplings with beef, lamb, and fish inside are a tasty mix that you won't want to miss. Their special beef noodle soup is not only yummy but also comes with lots of beef in a big bowl. The broth is full of flavor, making it a great choice. Try the shredded pig ear in chili oil for an appetizer—it's delicious and has a tangy flavor that makes it unique. Lots of people like the cucumber salad here, whether they're eating in or taking it to go. I'll be sure to give it a try next time!
Yuanbao Jiaozi is an absolute gem. Their freshly made boiled dumplings are next level, you can actually watch them being wrapped and cooked right in front of you. The whole place has a cozy, homey vibe that makes you feel like you’re eating in someone’s kitchen. You can’t book in advance, but just show up, write your name down, and wait, it’s totally worth it. The surprise highlight? The pig ear. Seriously, a real banger. Would 100% recommend.

Absolutely amazing chinese food. the pork dumpling soup and beef noodle soup (spicy) were both excellent and enough food to share for 3 people. people in the restaurant were very kind.

Service is friendly. The food is great. The house special beef noodle soup is a bomb. All the dumplings I tried were fresh and tasty. I love the dry or in soup. My favorite is the shiitake mushroom & sole fish dumplings. Very clean and a break from the traditional pork or beef fillings.
There really are no words to describe just how good fresh made dumplings are. At Yuanbao Jiaozi, you get to watch the ladies behind the glass make dumpling after dumpling from rolling out the dough through to filling. Then, you get to seem them hand it to chef is proportioned containers for him to boil fresh and delivered to your table. The suppleness of the dumplings here are second to none. The filling is also fresh and of great quality. We ordered 2 varieties: the shrimp with 3 delights and shitake with fish. Hands down, the shitake version won. The fragrance from the mushrooms was spectacular in my opinion. It also made the 3 delights (scallions, eggs, and chives) feel rather mundane, despite also being very good. We also tried the beef noodles. Beef was melt in your mouth and noodles were also plentiful, though on the softer side. I prefer a little more chew in my noodles but overall it was still a solid dish. Definitely a great place to hit up for a lunch. Given the lack of menu items (about 16 in total) it may be a little hard to have a full blown dinner here in my opinion.
A hole in the wall place with good food and fast service. The price is very decent considering the location and the portion. The cabbage pork dumpling is the most basic variety; the mushroom fish one is unique but the texture is too mushy; the chive with egg, pork and shrimp one is the best out of the three.
I haven’t visited this local gem for almost a year since my spouse doesn’t eat beef and he has been constantly having home cooked dumplings for lunch. I was constantly craving for the spicy pickled beef noodle soup and their seaweed salad so I came on a Saturday morning, waiting for them to open so I can skip the line. I was disappointed to find that they have taken the seaweed salad off their menu but the beef noodle soup was still promising like it used to. The line started forming oriented door at 11:45 pm and my husband wanted to speed finishing his food and leave cus he felt pressured to make all the guests waiting outside. For people who want to skip the line and wait, I suggest going to the one in San Mateo since there will be more seatings available in a large storefront.
Yuanbao Jiaozi is a little unassuming northeastern Chinese style restaurant known for their freshly made dumplings. I'm not sure why they have the two ladies behind a window making dumplings. It seems more of a gimmick. We had the spicy house special noodles $15, cucumber salad $8, beef tendon $11, pork dumplings $12 and lamb dumplings $13. The food was OK. It tasted clean. Service was excellent.
Cozy restaurant serving lots of freshly made dumplings. Every time I’m out near Golden Gate Park I like trying a new restaurant and stumbled across Yuanbao on my search. The menu is focused on different dumpling options, some beef noodle soups, and a few appetizers. The inside has a decent amount of table but we did wait a few minutes before our name was called. Once seated the food came out fairly quickly but the wait didn’t matter as you get you watch the staff hand make each dumpling through the glass in the back. The mushroom and fish dumplings were delicious and pretty unique as I haven’t seen this combo at other dumpling shops in the Bay Area that often. We also ordered the mustard veggie beef soup which was amazing. Glad to have tried this spot! I saw they also sell frozen dumplings to go if you’re looking to do takeout for another time.
This little unassuming restaurant is the real deal for good dumplings and beef noodles soup. Reminds me of comfort foods I can get in Taiwan. Expect a line at popular times. I hate Google reviews overhyping restaurants when most reviewers wouldn’t know good Asian food if it kicked them in the butt. This place is better. I hope I’m not over hyped this place. 😊
Overall this is a small-hole-in-the-wall like yet popular dumpling place flooded in the City primarily due to social media frenzy postured by those who would praise for clueless Asian fusion yet cannot be nuanced by neither ingredients nor styleslike like Boba Tea (according to AI it is known for health issues like weight gain, constipation, diabetes and kidney diseases primarily because Bobas, which are tapioca pearls are typically made from tapioca starch and soaked in sugary syrups and may contain additives such as artificial flavors, colors, and preservatives.) The place gets crowded on weekends often having ppl waiting outside and inside is not spacious and chairs make squeaking noises. The beef noodles albeit flavored by sour preserved vegetable the soup base is subtly MSG flavor and have very small portion of beef no only thinly cut but also cheesy most likely from shin, shoulder or bottom round, which has been improved. Dumplings portions have recently become smaller and less flavored; however, no complaint for its prices under the circumstances. I frequents this place once sometimes twice a week but would stay away from side dishes such as vinegar cucumber, peanuts, tofu salads are nothing but “sucker bets” considering nearly $9 or $10 for such small portions. Nevertheless, they are tasty dishes for those who have never eaten them. My respect to these hard-working ladies behind the window wrapping up dumplings who helped to enrich the owner who has an unscrupulous face imhm to have another dumpling shop opened in Millbrae not too long ago.
This place made us wait for almost an hour for a table! At 11:15 am, it was crazy Good: - Really awesome dumplings with solid wrappers and the right level of salty and savory - I liked the dumping soup version because the soup was filling too Bad: - Took forever to get our dishes and we also already waited an hour to get in - Super small place - Nothing fancy, casual diner vibes Overall enjoyed my experience here but wouldn’t wait again.
Street parking or residential parking. Cleanness is not bad. Seats are limited. The price is average. Ordered beef noodles, both have good flavor soup base. Noodles are not thin or thick, and I like the texture. The beef is flavorful with garlic dipping sauce.

IDK why this is on any go-to list. It is ok. The dumplings ordered: Chicken & corn, shrimp & zucchini, beef lamb carrot, and fish & mushroom. All were mild in taste. Nothing memorable. Best item was the tofu salad. Hot and spicy beef tendon was not hot or spicy and texture was super soft. Beef noodle soup was fine with very tender beef, but nothing special in the soup.
We went there on Sunday, a little after 11:15 AM. There was no line, and we got a table pretty quickly. We ordered the cucumber salad, pickled Chinese cabbage beef noodle soup (spicy), chicken and corn dumplings, and pork, shrimp, chive, and egg dumplings. The cucumber salad was a bit too sour for my taste, and the beef noodle soup was just okay. I really liked the chicken and corn dumplings, while the chive dumplings were decent but not quite to my liking.

The cucumber salad was lovely and the beef noodle soup was okay. Unfortunately, I think I made the wrong choice with the dumpling soup (shrimp and chives dumplings). The soup was clear broth not flavorful but I didn’t mind it. Dumplings lacked flavor as well but were edible. Sadly, I had this meal for lunch and my stomach got sick for the rest of that night, I couldn’t even eat dinner.
I have been coming here since their grand opening, and ate here at least a dozen times. Unfortunately their service has gone downhill drastically over the last few months. I had to remove my 5 star review from 2 years ago and share an update. I came here last night for dinner, but both of the waitress and waiter showed obvious annoyance attitude the moment we walked in. The waitress gave us very dismissive unwelcoming facial expressions and tone while taking our orders for no reason, the way she looked at us was angry and scary. The service was very nice in the past, and dining in such negative atmosphere last night was such an unpleasant experience. I won’t recommend this spot anymore, and will not come here to eat anymore going forward. There are many amazing dumpling spots in the city with amazing services and food. You don’t have to come here just to be treated like dogs.
