Opinions de AK Kitchen San Jose
A very hidden gem in San Jose. I never would have known this was here. Quiet atmosphere, attentive service, grand portions and the Thai tea is freaking sweet. We ordered a Thai tea to go. The Korean chicken and waffles are delicious, sweet tasting fried chicken. The Bahn mi skillet was a perfect size for me (I'm a big guy). Oh and yes they have mimosas.
This is a one-man show. The owner is also the cook and the waiter. We're all impressed how he got it all done by himself. The restaurant is spacious and clean. It wasn't crowded when we came. Service was good. We ordered many different dishes. - Our favorite was the scrispy rice paper combo ($5.5 each), crap and asparagus soup ($12.5) and chicken wings. I also liked my flan coffee. - The grilled sate squid was cooked well (not over cooked), the char was nice but we didn't like the squid texture (it's not his fault, I don't think, it's just the squid itself). - The street corns was decent but it needs a bit more fish sauce and maybe sugar. Overall, we were happy with our visit and liked our food.
Amazing food, great service and at reasonable prices. I order veg tofu, friend rice and egg noodles and everything was perfect. They even were able to honor my request of steamed tofu instead of having fried tofu. Will visit again!
Love the Shaken beef recommend by Larry. The beef very tender and juicy. My new favorite spot for rice shaken beef.
New, opened 1/1/2020. Steak is juicy and flavorful. Pho broth is flavorful. Location is far from regular traffic. Lots of space to have large group gathering.
Best spot if you like Vietnamese/Asian food, but dont like crowds, as this one located in one of South Bay chillest area. We were the only people there on a Thursday afternoon. Decent food too
Good Vietnamese food that seemed very authentic. Loved the clay pot fish that we had. Cool way of serving the Vietnamese coffee too. No alcohol served, but I think I saw signs that you could bring wine. Service was pretty good and food came out in decent time. All indoor seating.

Yesterday, we went to AK Kitchen for the first time. We ordered shrimp and teriyaki chicken plate. They were tasty. Because it is not too sweet or salty. The food is enough if you dont to eat too much. The restaurant is clean and nice. Especially the service is great! Thank you for giving me snack. We try it on the way back to LA and it is yummy too.
The food was very delicious and I highly encourage the Villages residents to come support this restaurant. It's cheaper and has more food than what the Village Bistro provides. I'm planning on coming back soon to try out more things.
AK's Kitchen is a true hidden gem, providing not only fantastic food but also an overall delightful dining experience. The owner's attentiveness adds a personal touch to the cozy and inviting ambiance. I am looking forward to my next visit! [Note that it might be a bit tricky for some to locate this restaurant since it is within a residential community, but do not get deterred -- just follow your google maps directions.]
AK Kitchen has become a convenient go-to spot for my family. My aunt likes their fish congee, my brother enjoys the shaken beef, and I like the tofu with vegetables. The place is clean, and the service is consistently excellent. It's a reliable choice for a satisfying meal with a variety of options.
Very personable and attentive owner; cozy, comfortable environment; an eclectic variety of dishes. Our weekly family favorite for authentic Vietnamese cuisine! Off the beaten path-but don’t miss it!!
I was in the villages from Florida on a short visit. It's not often I can find a sit down Thai restaurant that delivers high quality Thai food at a reasonable price with great service. Ate their twice and both times... outstanding. You guys are really lucky to have this place in your neighborhood.
Excellent quality, exceptional freshness, fast service. Amazing place
Been here a few times already. Tonight we tried the beef pho. You have a choice of raw steak, meatballs or both. I tried both. Really good! A lot of noodles so it is a big meal. Next time I'm going for raw steak, not that the meatballs were no good, just a matter of taste. Definitely will be back! Vietnamese iced coffee for dessert and that was heaven!
Went there shortly after 1:00 on a Friday afternoon and we were the only ones there. We both had the Grilled Pork Vermicelli. The grilled pork was really delicious. Good variety of drinks. Pleasant environment with nice Vietnamese music playing in the background. It's nice to support a small friendly family restaurant

We got to the restaurant when it opened but the owners hadn't got there yet and we had to wait outside for them to set up which was a little awkward. Once we got in though, they were very nice and hospitable. I had spring rolls, which were delicious, pho, which was good, and an amazing Thai tea.
My mom lives in The Villages and there aren't a lot of good food options nearby. But AK Kitchen is the exception. Everything is fresh and tasty, and it's better Vietnamese food than in other neighborhoods. They don't skimp on ingredients. The Lotus Salad is amazing, I could eat that every day. Pork is not too fatty or gristly. Portions are large. The vermicelli had plenty of greens, including mint. We were warned when we came in that it might take a while to receive our food as they were preparing a large order for someone else. It was nice to know in advance, I appreciated that. We did wait a while, but got appetizers. The ambience is pretty plain. It's like a rental banquet room, I think you can pay to have parties there. But what it lacks in ambience, it makes up for in food.

This is our local hole in the wall restaurant. It's pretty good food. The sliders are pretty good too. They have some mango drinks that are very nice and We cannot recommend the pad ti it was pretty bland..
Went for dinner at 5:00 on Sunday. We were the only people there. Bad sign. One wait person, a young woman. My son ordered the garlic, butter shrimp, which he loved. I had the pad Thai. Requested added veggies and was told they don't put broccoli in pad Thai. The dish was not very flavorful. We ate. Still no other diners came. When we left, still no one there. Won't be back.

When I arrived there was one table occupied by three people. I chose a booth next to the window. The waiter told me.I couldn't sit there because it was for large groups. I moved. No one ever arrived during the hour I was there so that table sat vacant. I ordered huevos rancheros and it was absolutely horrible. The eggs were microwaved, the beans were canned as was the salsa, it was served on tostadas and they were overcooked (close to burned.) It was a sizable amount of food but I could not even eat it. When I went home, I felt so sick.I had to lay down. It was my first time for visiting this restaurant and believe me, I won't go back. If I could give it a negative rating I would.
