The food here is so good! I don't even live near San Jose anymore but anytime I'm driving through I try and stop here.

Absolutely fantastic hole in the wall Chinese place that is family operated. I love the flavor they have to their wok dishes.

Family operated, great food, sidewalk seating on The Alameda. This is a nice stop when walking around the Rose Garden neighbourhood.

Great Chinese food on The Alameda. Lots of folks take out here but we like to eat in. The hot and sour soup is the best that I have had anywhere. Staff is friendly and fast!

Yummy shrimp chow fun. Sizzling hot wide flat noodles. Had the cream cheese crab puffs for appetizer. Delicioso

Best damn Chinese food I have ever had especially for the South Bay. I had the General Chicken, Mongolian Beef, Chow Mein and Egg Rolls. The worst I can say was that the eggrolls were OK. Everything else was spectacular. Definitely coming here again. Worth every penny. I payed $40 for 4 plates and 2 Cokes. I think that's reasonable.

This unassuming tiny corner restaurant has the nicest people and the best Chinese food that I have found in the South Bay. I drive miles out of my way for their food, and every time I wait for my order I see other people coming in for bags of their take out. They use premium ingredients, i.e. their Shrimp Fried Rice has full-sized shrimp, not the little Bay Shrimp, and the seasoning is perfect. The Wok Seared Scallops is our favorite; everything is excellent.

This is my go to Chinese take out place. Food is good and reasonably priced. I love their generals chicken and spicy broccoli. My wife likes the hot and sour soup. Family owned and operated. You can't go wrong.

We absolutely love this place. We've gotten about half of the menu items and all have been delicious. Our big favorites are Mongolian beef, General's Chicken and cashew chicken. Small place with the whole family working there. Must eat in San Jose!

My family ate here a number of years ago and it was really great. The big find was the Hot and Sour soup that was the best that I'd had about 30 years earlier at a restaurant in Portland that closed in the 80's. OMG it was so so good. I don't get to San Jose very often and I've been trying to come up with an excuse to get more H&S soup. Travelling from Houston to Portland, we had a 2 hour layover in San Jose. My wife asked if Uber Eats would deliver to the airport, I thought, let's see. The next day we had our soup in the terminal. It was everything we remembered. Never thought I would enjoy a layover so much. Thanks China Inn and Uber eats!!

Amazinh mom and pop shop! Their fried rice, noodles, and kung pao chicken are exactly what you want from chinese takeout! Orders made hot and fresh per order. I have been going to this place for almost 10 years and the owners entire family runs the place efficiently and cleanly. Thank you guys so much for all the tasty food!

China Inn is rock solid. I get the Chef's Special Chow Mein, spicy with a couple of egg rolls and done. I've had a lot of Chow Mein, but they are always on point and hot. It's my go-to chinese food spot for sure!

Really great American Chinese spot. You should really go here instead of panda. Help out a local business.

We have a new spot for Chinese food! The food here was delicious! They have No MSG proudly posted on their menu and you can tell by the way you don't feel bloated after. MSG stands for Mono Sodium Glutamate. Sodium is salt, and salt makes you retain water for bloating. The food was very good and expertly seasoned!

K

We trusted Google maps to lead us to the nearest Chinese cuisine. We were pleased with the results! We will be returning. No MSG's left my tummy happy. I ate everything and felt energized after our meal. The dining area is small, seating a dozen people or so. We took our meal to go and plated it at home 10 minutes later. The pictures say 1000 words! My tummy says thank you. The staff was abundant and friendly. Our meal of three dishes took 10 minutes to complete. Thank you China Inn.

The food here is great. No gmo and is run by a family. Would recommend.

Delicious food, good portions, reasonable price. We ate here every week during the panini and they were so so friendly. We moved away but always try to get some when we are passing through. Tastes like childhood memories.

Found on Google Maps after taking train from San Francisco to San Jose after Giants game, and before driving to Santa Cruz. Delicious Chinese standard fare, large portions, friendly service, super clean. Highly recommend 👌

Great sweet and sour chicken. The chicken pieces are really big which could be a plus or minus depending on how you like it, but the sauce was great, chicken not overcooked, and good fried rice. The place is tiny, but compared to other tiny Chinese takeout places, not stuffy and very clean. The hostess was very polite and I noticed that tables were bussed very quickly. This area of SJ / Santa Clara can be really hard to find good "basic" Chinese takeout, but if you're looking for all sorts of bite-sized pieces of chicken, beef or pork in a familiar variety of sauces, this is the best option I've found within a 10 minute drive of PayPal.

One of the best Chinese restaurants in Santa Clara! Large menu at a very reasonable price, all the typical dishes. Fast and good service as well. The portions are large and contain plenty of meat. This is my go-to place for Chinese food!

China Inn on the Alameda in San Jose. It's a small, family run chinese restaurant that offers good tasting chinese food, for take out or sit it. The restaurant isn't big at all (not your typical Chinese restaurant, but has about 7 or 8 tables (incl 2 or 3 that are outside). Service is quick and price is reasonable. Good place to go for chinese take out!

Fantastic food, great service. Never disappointed. Had sizzling rice soup which was not oily. Sizzling chicken, Mongolian beef and orange chicken.

J

Food was ok. Didn't go for a lunch special-I guess that means you don't get even a tiny white rice with a more expensive entree? And I should have asked for sauces. No hot mustard or anything in the bag.

Delicious Cantonese style food. Lunch specials are affordable, quick and easy. Friendly staff. Great service. Street parking is limited.

Nice little mom & pop shop with good food and a simple menu. Has all the core dishes and the service is quick whether it be pick up or dine-in. May not be as flavorful as other locations but still solid. Props to them for serving MSG-free food. Portions are good and prices are average. Chef's Special Chow Mein is worth a try. The interior isn't too spacious and the parking in the back can be full on weekends. Located in the Alameda this spot looks a bit outdated compared to next door businesses. The Staff closes for their lunch 1pm-4pm.

Have been here twice on two separate trips to CA . Both times were awesome. Second time it was 9pm, we had just arrived in the city after hiking at Yosemite and were starving- half an hour wait even late at night but totally worth it. We got a spread of appetizers and all were great. Love the potstickers. Can't beat the prices.

T

Been here a few times so far since my girlfriend moved into the neighborhood. We've only done takeout but it's always been very fast. It's a small little place on the corner with only a few tables so it might get crowded at times if you want to sit down. Just an oldschool Chinese place, looks like they even have their kids working there which is cool. Prices are super reasonable and we haven't had anything we haven't liked yet. If you're looking for some good fast Chinese, I'd definitely give them a try

N
Nikki Vaughan

Consistently producing quality quick-service Chinese food. Dining room is small so we always get our food to go and never have to wait long, even when the wait seems to be a dozen people deep at lunch time. Parking can be an issue when downtown is busy.

Small location, but quick and flavorful food. Nothing amazing, but what you would expect for good Chinese food. I had the cashew chicken and wife had the vegetable noodles. The noodles were fresh and chewy. The vegetables were also fresh and the flavor was good.

This place is so mediocre. I've been here several times because I want it to be good, but every time I've been disappointed. The most recent time I ordered shrimp fried rice, it had two shrimps...one of which had a dime sized black spot. How do you serve that?

H
Harry Hoang

Standard Chinese-American fare..I ordered Mongolian Beef and General Chicken. The beef was a bit chewy and not usual Mongolian Beef flavor (not spicy). A bit too sauced up. General Chicken was dry and batter was way too sauced up which made the "skin" come off.

D
Dillon Carlos

Tiny place in a good spot, but not much else to offer. Prices do not reflect the quality of the food, which is poor. Competition in this food category is too good to settle for China Inn. Check out their competitors which are numerous and nearby.

Ordered my favorite Mo Po To Fu with rice for lunch, mediocre taste (came very spicy hot, was surprised but fine with me), baseline 3-star. Very small portions for the price (minus 1 star). Friendly staff (plus 1 star). Got diarrhea in the evening, highly suspicious of the cleanliness and/or spoilage of the food I got (minus 1 star). I order this dish often from different restaurants, and sometimes I even make them myself, I know my system handles it well.

Not very good, I had the shrimp with lobster sauce and house special fried rice. Overall, it was edible but not worth the 23.00 dollars paid. The rice was slightly undercooked and under flavored. The Shrimp with Lobster sauce was also average and one thing that I praise them on is the size of the shrimp. Overall, again, it is not bad but not worth the price.

This place used to serve great Hunan style Chinese food. But the last 2 visits was not a good experience. Food has gone South!

M

Horrible cheap quality food. $10 for a bunch of rice (no veggies) and over fried tough chicken (* how do you mess up Chinese food??)

P
P Paul

Definitely had better. Both dishes had ingredients missing, pork very fatty, portions not generous - compared to other Chinese restaurants this was overpriced for inferior product.

G

Whent for lunch today and oreder steamed veggies with chicken, first bite of chicken was rubbery and didn't look like chicken and I called the woman in charge and I asked what kind of meat this is ? She said chicken and walked away , I believe is not chicken ! More like imitation meat! So i dont recommend this place at all..

Place is wack. Food was dry and cool. You can tell it was microwaved. Taste bad too. Pandas Express is better smh

Remarkable Review

Most of the food we ordered didn't taste well. Ordered 2 small spicy orange chickens, 1 small general Tso chicken, 1 small veggie chow mien, 1 small beef broccoli, and 1 small veggie fried rice. Came to $71. Definitely over priced. Chow main had no flavor, chickens were all too sweet and they were supposed to be spicy, and the chicken was heavily covered in batter. Only thing that tasted okay was the beef and broccoli. Definitely wouldn't go back.

This place is tiny and it sucks. They hang up on you if they think you might even think about finishing your order. A rice dinner plate is exactly that. All rice, then they added broccoli to it without listing it on their menu. This is no place to eat, go anywhere else

Ordered the below food from here a couple of days back through Uber East 1. Vegetable Fried Rice 2. Kung Pao Tofu I am going to be strictly honest here. I was highly disappointed with the quality and quantity of Vegetable Fired rice. It was not cooked properly. I tasted terrible, literally no flavors at all. I had to add all the kinds of flavors (even salt) by myself to make it edible. It costs pretty high for such low standard tasteless food. Kung Pao Tofu was just ok. One thing is for sure, I am never ordering food from here ever again.

I wanted to order for pick up as I'm home sick. My neighbor was gracious enough to offer to p/u for me. China Inn said they have no card reader for phone orders! They just lost a potential customer.

I came here because of the great reviews. Very disappointing, first of all there's not a big selection on the menu. Your choices are only a two items, main and rice or noddle. If you crave more on your plate thats another order. I got the sweet and sour pork and fries rice for close to $9, I got mine to go and received it in a small black plastic container w. Clear top. The food was plain, nothing I can't fine at other chinese place and cheaper w. An extra item on my plate. In fact I think others have better taste. I won't make stops at this place. Maybe this place has good reviews because its surround by businesses and its a good walking distance option, or they haven't try other restaurants to know the difference... To each its own, but this place its not one of my choices.
