Awesome restaurant. Great food. Authentic Mexican meals. Great service. Venue is spacious inside with outdoor dining too. Very clean. The food was excellent! I will keep coming back.
This was my first time here and I gotta say, I'll go out of my way again to come here, burrito was real good ,service and atmosphere had real good vibes.
Great breakfast burritos!
Good authentic family style Mexican food. Tacos are delicious, stews are perfect. Their margarita is a definite must try chavela too!
The food is excellent, the staff are very friendly, love the vibe.
Delicious, fair priced, and friendly staff. Multi-lingual. And if youre only stopping at the liquor store next door they have a taco truck outside there too so they don't miss any opportunities <3
The al pastor burrito (regular) was very good and not too greasy as some al pastor can be. The portion was generous enough to satisfy two meals!
I imagine that someday I will work my way through the menu here but each time I go it's always Carnitas Super Tacos which are the best I've ever had. You owe it to yourself to try them. Friendly staff and free chips with a salsa roja that's top notch.
Open only from 11:30AM to ~2:15PM M-F. Their trucks outside, and at ~Elco&Lawrence, do not make the very good Wet Burrito Carne Asada, and it is just "Not" the same as inside. However, inside, The Wet Burrito, is worth walking there barefoot in Summer, to just taste it! . . OMG! So tasty good, with its Secret bouquet of Chili Flavor and Zing! Be sure to ask for Green Salsa too, and that Wet Burrito will do what it says ;-) I pitty the poor people that do not tip 20% here. That means bring $12 each with water only. You will be so satisfied. Take a second to go for a friend! They will be so grateful! Super gorgeous servers, and Cooks who can cook too! I've never had a Margarita for Lunch in my life before, but I hear they are available. Exotic bottled beers too.
The lunch was Amazing! The best rice and tacos! Can't wait to go back and have dinner! Salsa was great, all authentically prepared.
First of all I like their portion size the beef tongue and barbacoa is so tender and their Pollo pastor is delicious
Best carne asada ever. So superbly crispy, and the quesadilla was perfectly cheesy. Good horchata but not enough cinnamon for me. Overall, I'd travel from Hayward just for the food here.
This is one of our favorite places to get tacos, real Mexican tacos not Tex-Mex tacos! Their menu is very broad - they have caldos/broths, burritos, tortas, tostadas, chiles rellenos, platos de diferentes guisos/plates of different traditional prepared meals, etc.
The location of the restaurant is obscure but didn't make a difference regarding my experience. The food is very good and they offer a wide selection in their menu. They provided excellent service. Staff came up to us for any assistance at least four times before we finished. The atmosphere of the restaurant looked authentic and I felt like I was in directly in Mexico. Highly recommend!
My friend and I both had burritos. His was a carnitas and mine was a chili verde. We both thought our burritos were nicely spiced and had a nice serving of meat. The menu was varied enough to appeal to a broad cross-section of people. The restaurant was clean and well taken care of. The decorations we're humble in style of a traditional Taqueria.
Delicious and flavorful asada tacos! And the tripas tacos too! And the asada torta is amazing, enjoy! We got 8 tacos and 1 torta which was a good size.
Wow!! This was my first time here. I know Mexican food, and this place is amazing. I ordered the tacos and rice and it was very authentic. It's been awhile since I had a meal like this in any restaurant. A friend suggested it and we went, I had no idea what to expect. If you have never been, you need to go. This will now be my go to spot from now on.
One of the best places in the Bay for delicious, authentic Mexican food. Service is great, the staff is friendly, and the place is clean. This is a hidden gem (for me at least). They have food trucks too. Check out their website
Drove two hours just to have lunch with my Mijo Jess
Really good tacos! Really nice people and super nice environment!
I'm not from here and found it through G Pay,; I felt at home here. The staff was very polite the food scored a 10 as did the service.....I would definitely bring my family here....from parking to departure I didn't worry about my broken Durango or any other part of the outside world....what more can be offered by a restaurant....what more could I ask.....oh yeah did I tell you about the food....it's good, good and gone....!!!
Prices are great, lunch crowd makes is very busy hot spot, the wait staff serves you most expeditiously, leaving you time to enjoy a cold cerveza or two, I mean they are really on top,of serving you! I'm not a millennial, so I tip on performance, 25% here, they deserve it.
These tacos took me back to the good old days. One of the best street style tacos I have ever had. Definitely coming back and recommending to family/friends.
Great little Mexican joint in Alviso. We walked here from the Guadalupe River Trail and were very satisfied. Overall very good prices except the soft drinks are 4.50. You can almost get two tacos for the same price! But that’s fine. I got the breakfast burrito with egg and bacon. Very simple but delicious. My wife had a pollo asado taco and was not disappointed. The chips and salsa area great too, but cost extra. Red and green hot sauce in squeeze bottles is served with the meal. I love that. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in Alviso.
I stopped in here on a bike ride with some friends. I really, REALLY loved the vibe of this place. Loved the 'small town feel'. The food was good as well; the Taco Salad with grilled chicken didn’t disappoint. I like that they used silverware and non-disposable plates for our eat-in lunches (we sat outside on a beautiful sunny Fall day). I will be back.
Love the food here, it's all good all the time. It's the best Mexican food I've found in my area. Staff is very pleasant and helpful. It's an enjoyable eating experience but I feel like they could do a little more with the decor
This is a basic little Taqueria with great food. Order at the counter, and food is brought to your table.
Delicious hefty super burrito at a reasonable price! Will be coming here often when their truck isn't by my home.
Just had four BBQ pork tacos. Super fast service, great food, no frills. Would recommend
Great tacos! Servings were just right. And great tasting, too! Recommend the lengua and the beef cheeks tacos. We will be back!
We got the super burrito and the veggie burrito, they were yummy and pretty hefty, like if you dropped it on the table thered be an audible thump. Also the woman working there was very nice :)
My fiancé and I stopped by randomly and were so glad we did. The service was great, place super clean and calm. But what topped it off was the flavor in the food. I’m Mexican and this food reminded me of my grandmother’s cooking!! I definitely recommend this place!
WOW, this place had some folks there when I arrived around noon, but it was almost full by the time I left about 15 or so minutes later. And after taking my to-go order home for lunch, I now know why. My wet chicken burrito was absolutely delicious...made exactly as I ordered. The servers were nice and friendly. And the place was clean and had nice tables and seats. I live nearby in Santa Clara and used to occasionally come out to the Alviso area. I will be sure to return to El Taco de Oro very soon and often - very good grub!
An excellent place to grab lunch. Their tacos are tasty and well-priced. I recommend regular tacos with carnitas or pastor. Make sure to ask for a green/red sauce on the side - these are delicious and perfectly spiced. Wet burritos are pretty tasty as well, if you're looking for a more substantial meal. The service is fast and friendly.
I’ve been going to El Taco de Oro ever since they were in Middlefield in the mid 2000’s then moved to Alviso as a taco truck and now a huge restaurant. Their asada, carnitas, and pastor burritos and tacos have ALWAYS been hella good. But the real magic is their salsa rojas, it makes the food even better. The smell and taste is absolutely intoxicating. I love this place.
Me and my wife love coming here. The tacos always be hitting. Tried out their wet burrito and it was delicious and very filling. This spot is so popular with bikers that they had to put a sign stating “no bikes”, just an fyi fellow bikers! They also have a taco truck for any to go orders. Been going here for years and it’s a must when visiting Alviso.
Came for a torta, rice and beans on a Tuesday. Met by amicable staff and quick service. Lots of items on the menu with a variety of meat. Fairly empty inside but customers coming through, decent ambiance with TV installed. Plenty of seating and parking. Clean eatablishment (just needs a new storefront sign). Torta was great, fantastic flavor and juicy. Almost too juicy, as the bread got soggy - the chicken and condiments fell out which required to eat with a fork.
I went on a very long bike ride ended up in alviso not many places to eat literally Italian and Mexican I didn't want Italian because it's very heavy and dairy and I can't have dairy so I came to the Mexican place and stuff I got it burrito and a michelada with negro Modelo the drink is very refreshing on this hot day the first one burrito was very hot the meat was tender and the flavor was good most places I go the burrito is barely warm so I could tell they cook the meat right there not having it sick on a hot table like most Mexican places do this server didn't catch her name when she was extremely friendly i asked how long they been here she said about 10 years they started as a food truck I near the school nearby it was a big success then they moved on to the supermarket because they had a kitchen and then they open up their own spot next door I definitely recommend checking this place out if you're visiting I'll be so or maybe driving by on the freeway or even in San Jose thank you for taking the time to read my review 😎
Absolute best tacos anywhere. Taco truck outside is great if you just want a few tacos or a burrito to go. Sit inside for some chips with a mild/medium salsa if you have some time. Lengua and carnitas are my go to proteins on my tacos with cheese added on top. Super tacos are too jam packed with sour cream, stick to the regular tacos and tell them to add cheese.
food is delicious (still wondering about the sweet tea a coworker got). also, a little odd tha they cannot/won't split bills, and also a 4% upcharge for CC/DC use is a bit steep.
Okay I was actually really surprised they made me my custom order basically no issues at all yeah I was around like 10 or $11 but no big deal was kind of being a little more than I want to pay for breakfast but that's okay it's Oakland but the thing is that the breakfast really wasn't up to par to my standards but the taste of it was absolutely incredible yes the look wasn't great but the taste of the food was just to die for. Another thing is if you haven't checked out their Salsas so far you definitely should check out their mild salsa their mild sauce is problem in the best mild salsa I have ever had and I'm not a big fan of mild salsa or the green stuff but this stuff is just absolutely incredible check them out there's a Target going to be built right next door so going stop on by.
They have a descent number of tables and a descent size parking lot. The food is very good. My kids like the car a asada tacos. I generally get a burrito which is very good. They have a hot red salsa which is more like a medium and a mild green one. My only complaint is that they charge for using a credit card.
Visited this place twice and enjoyed the food both times! So far I've tried the Carne Asada and Al Pastor in Super Burrito form. The burritos are a good portion size and have everything you'd expect from a solid Mexican restaurant. What makes it stand out is how flavorful the meat is; I'd prefer that it were not so finely minced however. I would recommend the Al Pastor as the char on the pork adds nice texture.
It was an excellent meal but the service was not quite what I hoped. The young lady who was taking care of me was more focused on some friends than taking care of me. The other staff did their best to cover and the food made up for the neglect. A place I would highly suggest for a traditional meal. Parking was excellent unfortunately they don't serve ground beef ☹️
Very good food and service. Great options for vegetarians. My favorite part was the salsa, very good testing salsa. They also have a red and green sauce which both exceeded expectations by a long shot. Portions sizes are large as well
Everything was fresh and well executed. The hand made corn tortillas were awesome. Only complaint is that for non-meat eaters there are very few options. No fish options, no real vegetarian options. I opted for a shrimp dish, which turned out great.
Great taco place.all of my party loved the food. I want to go back. Heck, they even have a taco challenge. The record is 30 tacos. I'm not going to try it. LOL. The tacos tasted so good.... They need to have some real hot sauce. Hotter than they serve. Not really a complaint. Great tacos .
My wife and I eat at the food truck in the parking lot. Really good Mexican food. The pork is shredded but has a solid flavour. Would like to highlight that the meat is not watery tasting like other places. The beef is super cooked but still palatable. We have tried taccs, super tacos, burritos, and tortas. The food can be spicy or extra spicy - depending on what you would like. They also have a restaurant next door that I have eaten at a number of times - similar taste. It can be busy at times - normally lunch on week days is busy for the restaurant and the truck seems to be quite busy on Saturdays/Sundays around lunch.
Good selection of more traditional Mexican fare, tacos are fantastic street style. I had the wet burrito with carne asada and hot salsa, way too big to eat in one sitting, and very tasty.
Excellent homemade style Mexican food located in the historic Alviso neighborhood. The rice and beans were fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for dining options close to the Santa Clara hotels.
This is a collection of two places. One sit down place and a truck parked next door. Both make the most amazing tacos. The city itself doesn't quite feel like bay area, but more like a city straight from Central CA. Dining here is more than about the food, it's about losing yourself in a place that's not quite Silicon Valley, inspite being so close.
Some of the best 'street' style tacos around. The location is a little ghetto, always smells like cleaner in there, but the food is great. Get at least 4 tacos to be satisfied as they're small but cheap.
This was my first time going here so I will have to see if the quality stays consistent enough for 5 Stars. I got a wet burrito and it was great! I went here at the busiest time during lunch and sat right down. I would recommend this place is you like Mexican food.
This was the third time we came here for a team lunch. One thing we all noticed, this place does not give out chips and salsa like they used to. Foods are still the same and good, but not great. Easily over $20 lunch without drink. This is not a real sit-down restaurant, because you need to order as you walk in the door and they will bring it to your table.
A friend invited me to meet him for lunch here. We just got there ahead of a lot more people. I had the regular burrito with choice of meat, for $10.i chose steak. It had a good heft to it. It came with mild sauce, cheese and Onions They brought a dish of chips and a small cup of sauce for us to share. All very good. I saw a super burrito on the menu. I think that adds options like sour cream and guacamole to add to the already good taste. I'll be trying that next time.
Food is good but kinda pricey. Also took a while for the food to arrive. Service was a bit slow but it's not the fault of the people there.. You can tell everyone is doing something. It just seems like they are understaffed during rush hour so you may have to stand in line for a while for them to get your order. Overall, Id definitely go back as this is one of the best tasting Mexican restaurants out there.
Super tasty food friendly servive! The tacos are packed with a LOT more meat than they appear to be!
The People there were very nice, but my taco salad was big, but a bit flavorless. The BBQ pork tasted as if it had sat around, dry and low on flavor.
It was a ok experience. They will not split checks, they have a variety of meets, and great portion burritos ( except you get two pieces of meat ) mostly beans and rice. Great house hot sauce.
Service is good, and so is the food. Not worth the price sadly, a little too expensive. I can go to a nice Mexican restaurant for around the same price. $5 for a soda is wild.
Authentic but bland Mexican food. I got a chicken quesadilla and it was not very tasty, the chicken was dry, and the condiments we're spread all over the quesadilla (instead of in little cups). Not the worst quesadilla I've ever had, but honestly I've had better.
They only gave red salsa when I asked them extra salsas green and red. No pickled veggies. Burrito had no cilantro. One slice of lime and raffish were totally dried just like dried fruits.
Food is alright. They have a pretty spicy red sauce which is pretty good. Service is ehh.. They are always cleaning with a mop or wiping down tables then jumping to delivering food to the table and grabbing refills all without washing their hands.. Kinda gross. Id probably rate the food truck they have off of Lawrence a lot better review but as for the restaurant I'd prefer any other Mexican restaurant.
It's ok... Portions on the smaller side. Overall fresh and timely. Upcharge 4.5% for card vs cash look at receipt... Prices don't match because of this upcharge... They don't tell you and no signage... convenient if in Alviso
The restaurant is like any average Mexican restaurant. Pricey and not very tasty. This restaurant is reasonably priced. Below are my ratings Food - 3/5 Service - 5/5 Ambiance- 3/5 Cleanliness - 3/5 Cost to food worth - 3.5/5 Overall its a decent restaurant to dine it. We were 11 people and spent around 240$ including gratuity.
The tacos have gotten smaller and less tastee and the prices have gone up, there's also an additional charge if you use a credit card..... My friends and I would go there often, but not anymore, there are a lot of other taco places that offer better for for the same price.
I only had their burrito but it was sub par.. can't say anything about anything else on the menu aside from very expensive for the food you get.
The staff were really nice and respectful but and me and husband loved the atmosphere. But unfortunately the quesadilla I was served was really greasy. The carne asada my husband had along with the rice and beans was very very dry. His meal look as though it was cooked a few hours ago and then heated up inside of a microwave. The best thing about the entire meal was the micheladas.
Been coming here off and on for about six years and it seems the quality of the tacos are on a steady decline and the prices are on the rise. The quality of the food used to be amazing; now its just "meh". Might try the truck next time in hopes the food is better there... else it's time to find a new favorite taco spot.
Mendiga ambre .... Seria los cosineros o que seria ... No no no before we ordered they tell me they are closing instead of welcoming us and I came with my family. But there was a drunk guy playing 8 ball with all the time im thw world. I thought they were closing?! It seemed to me that the lady at night was in a hurry to close to get home instead of giving good customer service. Apart of that we took the order to go. As soon as we got home to eat we were missing 3 orders. We went back not so long after we left and no one was there. They were all gone. We spent roughly around $100 for us to not have good service and fiod missing. Worst place to eat. I dont recommend this place at all!!!!!
I work across the street from their catering truck. My coworkers and I got tacos. They were the "Worst" tacos ever. The meat was so dry that I almost choked on it. Will not go back again.
I’m never coming back again to this place. I had a bad experience in the past but i wanted to give it another try hopping that this time I had a better experience. Again, the waitres did not even say good morning and her face look like if we weren’t welcome because we are Hispanic or I don’t know what problems this lady has. After she delivered the drinks, I was expecting her to ask us if we were ready to order but instead, she told us that they have rules and nobody can bring food from any other place. (I understand that) but it was a little bag of McDonald’s fries from my 4 year old little niece. Because she was hungry when she got out of school and I pass by McDonalds and got her that little bag of fries. Anyways we got up and leave the restaurant and the lady did not do anything to make us stay. They lost customers today and I don’t know how many you’ll continue to loose. (Owner,, train your people and avoid yourself legal issues in the future.) food is great!
The food was great I waited over 45 minutes for a plate with green chiles rice and beans and my companion had two tacos rice and beans and the excuse was that they were busy but yeah there were people coming in and getting out before our food is ready I asked for a drink and even after 45 minutes they told me that I had to buy another drink very disappointing since their food is good but they need a little more customer service it'll be a while before I go back
First time here this afternoon. Ordered a super burrito with beefsteak as recommended by another reviewer. Unfortunately there was no sour cream, no guacamole, and the only meat I detected was the two pieces of grizzle I got to chew on. Tons of beans and rice though. The greens were in a clump on one end. I also ordered some fries for my dog and the taste was of old cooking oil. The dog didn’t care. Go to Chipotle’s if you want something decent to eat with actual meat.
Ummm tiny!!! Come here if you want samples and not actual meal. My enchiladas looked like flautas and my chips and salsa order…. only a few chips, the basket was half of a half of chips! I get things cost more but oh my… going to need to find another lunch. Check out the reviews on Yelp, not sure how this place has high reviews on google.
