Food & Ambiance: It was my birthday and my boyfriend surprised me with this gorgeous restaurant and fantastic food! We had the best poke taco EVER. I couldn’t describe how the mouthful of flavored poke and crunchy taco were so balanced and blown us away! The cocktails are delightful to look at and enjoy. We ordered one pasta dish and a steak dish because we wanted to try both, and it was the best decision we made! The texture of the pasta is perfect and the sauce… 🤩 so delicious! The steak is tender and definitely do medium or medium rare as they suggested. We were too full to try their dessert but I bet it’s great as well! Service: they were so attentive from leading us in , seating us down, introducing the menu and bringing the orders.

Over 30 years in San Jose and our first time at The Grandview Restaurant. Wow what a night, food was amazing, the service was 5 star and of course the view was spectacular. Date night or 35th wedding anniversary, doesn’t matter go try it and you won’t be disappointed.

For the price, the food was just OK. Not terrible but not outstanding. Now the service, awesome. Everyone was welcoming, attentive and made our experience great. The staff was accommodating, they helped us move from a table to bar seating with a better view of the sunset. The atmosphere was top notch and the views were definitely grand. Be careful if you go at night. As you leave there are cars parked on the side of the road, at times impeding traffic. Our server warned us and I'm glad she did. I will be going back.

We had a date night at The Grandview. The service after we were seated was very good The food was good, not great. But worth it for the view. The only negative part of this experience was at the bar. We were early for our reservation and tried to get a drink at the bar but the bartender was not too interested in serving us, completely ignoring us.

The view from this spot is absolutely stunning! I highly recommend reserving your table at least 30 minutes before sunset to enjoy both the breathtaking sunset and the city lights after dark. The food exponential. However, we did encounter one issue. We ordered two medium steaks, but unfortunately, one came out well-done. While they did take it back and bring a new one, it arrived after I had already finished my meal, which meant we had to eat separately. It was a bit disappointing, especially since the server didn't offer an apology. Despite that, the ambiance is perfect for special occasions like birthdays or anniversaries. Just be sure to confirm your order twice to avoid any mix-ups. Overall, it's a fantastic place to dine and celebrate!

My boyfriend took me here to celebrate Valentine's Day and it was a fixed menu with $175 per person. It's my first time having fine dining and my boyfriend doesn't usually eat at such luxury restaurants, so we were quite excited. Well, we did have a great time there because we had a good quality time and the conversation was meaningful. But it turned out the food was just okay (I mean it's good but for this price.... It can be better for sure) and the waiter seemed rather new(? It's like he just started working and didn't have much experience in interacting with people. We liked the bread and olive oil sauce the most and my boyfriend said the one carrot on the side was surprisingly sweet (in a good way, like a sweet potato. Yup, that one carrot was the highlight of our meal 🥕 (Ravioli was okay, soup was fine, scallop itself was good but there was only one, lava cake was a no (too rich and bitter) and cheesecake was a no (too sweet), steak was okay and salmon was fine. Carrot and mashed potato were pretty good, I also liked the roasted tomato with veggies on top on the side, quite refreshing) Btw, about the grand view... it was chilly and cold outside so they put out a lot of heaters and some plastic things like curtains to prevent wind, which actually feels like I'm eating street food back in Taiwan loll (and no, sadly you cannot see the view All in all, we agree that the fix menu was not worth it and maybe this restaurant is good at cooking veggies and has great sauce(? So if we really decide to come again, we might come on a day when we could pick our own food and try out the veggie dishes. And maybe come earlier, before the sunsets so we can enjoy the view too (not sure when they put the plastic curtain things down).

Food here is NOT worth the price tag. You'd figure with the price being so high, atleast the flavors will be amazingly on point. But that was not the case. The flavors were just mediocre at best. If you order pasta for kids you'll pay $35 for it. So don't make the same mistake we made. Each dish prices are exorbitantly high without anything to show for on the plate. Yeah the view is nice, Service is ok at best. The server gave us a birthday cake but charged $25 for it. We had a party of 9 adults and 2 kids under 3 years of age and our bill was $1200. I could have spent way less and had a much better experience elsewhere. Overall, I wouldn't come back to this place. It was a one and done visit for me.

Disappointing Experience - Service and Food Issues We arrived around 5:30 PM and were promptly seated on the balcony, which was great. Our server was friendly and took our wine order quickly, delivering it promptly. However, I mentioned the wine pour seemed a bit stingy, and she kindly offered to bring the bottle and top it off, which I appreciated. I decided to order a bottle instead. For appetizers, we ordered soup, baked oysters, and deviled egg tartare. Unfortunately, the soup arrived cold, so we sent it back. It was returned to us after being microwaved, which was disappointing, but we didn’t make a big deal of it. After that, we waited 40 minutes for our appetizers, with no updates or visible communication from the server. We had to repeatedly ask where our food was before it finally arrived after 45 minutes. When the server returned, she apologized for the delay. As for the outdoor setup, the weather was chilly, but we were kept warm by the pyramid glass tube heater behind us and a torch heater on the side. However, the experience was further disrupted when the busboy tried to take our heater to another table. I asked him to leave it where it was, as we were still using it, and suggested he take the side heater instead. He insisted that the other table needed our heater, so I had to escalate the issue to the server, who told him to return it. Unfortunately, after moving it, the heater either broke or was turned off and wouldn’t work again. The server attempted to relight it, but it never came back on, and we were left cold and uncomfortable. After another 25-minute wait, our main courses arrived. Regrettably, the lobster was undercooked and tough, which was the final straw. At that point, we decided to ask for the check. While our server was generally friendly and did her best to address the issues, the combination of delays, food quality, and service lapses left us quite dissatisfied with the experience. Given these issues, we’re unlikely to return.

We visited The Grandview to celebrate a family birthday. The view and service were pleasant, but unfortunately, the food and pricing left much to be desired. The kids’ menu is extremely limited — just one pasta option with three sauce choices. What’s worse, our server quoted $12 per plate, but we were later charged $14 each. That lack of transparency was disappointing from a restaurant of this category. The Squid Ink Pasta with Prawns felt like a complete rip-off at $45 — the sauce was bland, and there were only five shrimp on the plate. The Pollo Parmigiana, priced at $47, came without any side dish — no pasta, no vegetables, nothing — just the chicken. Charging nearly fifty dollars for a plain chicken dish without accompaniments feels unreasonable. The Agnolotti della Montagna and cocktails were decent, though not memorable. The house Zinfandel was the highlight of the meal — smooth and enjoyable — yet it’s not even listed on the menu, which only features far more expensive wines. To be fair, the service was attentive and friendly, which helped make the evening more enjoyable. However, with a final bill of $497.29 for six people, the value simply doesn’t match the cost. Overall impression: The Grandview offers a beautiful setting and good service, but the food quality, portion sizes, and pricing do not justify the expense. A disappointing experience for what should have been a special night.

I rarely write bad reviews, but our experience here on my partner’s birthday was unacceptable. We came in ready to celebrate and spend money, bringing our own birthday cake. The server’s attitude toward us was downright rude — as if we were doing something wrong. We were suddenly told there was a dessert fee, which had never been mentioned before. We would have happily paid it if they had just informed us upfront. Instead, the server kept a hostile tone, and even the “happy birthday” felt cold and sarcastic. We complained to the manager, hoping for at least an apology or some effort to make things right, but the manager did nothing. What should have been a joyful night turned into a frustrating, unpleasant experience because of how we were treated.

One word: ripoff. You're paying for the view. Food is embarrassingly bad and service is amateur. I would be a lot more forgiving if the price was reasonable for the level of quality. It's supposed to be farm to table, but nothing felt particularly fresh or cooked well, and they're constantly trying to upsell you on gimmicky services for the occasion. You can get Michelin level dining for a similar price point. If you still want to go - I recommend going for sunset.
