Hole in the wall looking but fish is fresh and fried perfectly. Ordered the family meal with 10 piece fish and chips. You will not be disappointed. Tarter sauce was on point! End up taking some home it was so finger licking good. They provided vinegar, hot sauce, and ketchup. Lemon wedges is extra 50 cents.

Food was excellent. Had a 2 fish w/ chips basket, malt vinegar, lots of tartar sauce. Fish was fresh and very crispy. Chips were good. Tartar sauce was good. Hit every expectation I have when I want fish n chips.

I've been coming to this place for over 30 years there was another place called Ben & Jerry's down the road however they close down many years ago so this is one of the few left fish and chips highly recommended

Small place with great food. We ordered the 3 fish fillet And chips. The fillets were large and the batter was light. Flavor was spot on. Love their tartar sauce. Fries were crispy as well. Also, got the fried eggrolls. Can't wait to go back and try more. Recommend dining in.

Amazing place!! Their food is super good. It's like biting into something that feels like heaven!! This used to be a national chain that was bought by KFC. Highly recommend! (Tip: Dip your fish into the clam chowder and it will taste good.)

Where do it start. First besides Rosie's being down the street and being the next in line of East Side staples when I say it's still fire 🔥 till this day. The portions are big the place is still the same since it first blew back in the day day. Will always pull up and get me a 2 piece fish N chips and a drink with a whole damn lemon too oh mann. Pull up for sure and you won't be disappointed

Located in a strip mall with CVS, H Salt Esquire serves fresh, made to order, fish and chips and other items. Being their name sake, I ordered the two fish, fish and chips. Service and cook times were excellent. Starting with the good, the fries are fresh and crisp. Very delicious. Now the fish, the batter is decent, not greasy, but could use a bit more seasoning. The fish itself, it was okay. I've had fresher, juicer fish at other places. I probably won't be back as there are many other fish and chip places that I want to try first.

This is a basic finsh and chip shop, only one near me that i can know off. The serving size for the fish is huge, double of what i usually see and get. Staff is pleasant and nice, but i usually do take out. The seating area is small but clean. Fish is tasty and batter is medium thickness meaning there is fair amount of fish underneath. Yes it's a bit greasy but you don't come here for healty fish dish. About once every 2 months for me. It's good fish and hits the craving spot. There are other seafood fried items and fries. I can't comment on them because I'm here for the fish. And want to support this local establishment. Price is about right for this type of food or about 2.5x the fast food chain fish sandwiches but you also get about the same amount more of fish minus the buns. Enjoy. I like mine with lemon and malt vinegar.

There are a few tables inside but I usually order by phone and then pick it up to go. The atmosphere is a bit cold and quiet.

Historically lookinh fish and chips shop. A dough amount is a bit too much and overpowers the fish. Prices are fair.

Came here 2 years ago and had the beat fish and chips of my life. Came today 2/17/25 and had the worst fish and chips ever. Bland fish and chips, hot sauce is terrible, would never come back.

PLACE IS DIRTY. Floor by the counter is caked with dirt. Gave an extra star just because the lady was super nice and helpful. However in terms of food quality. Fish lacked flavor fries not seasoned. I searched the best fish and chips in San Jose and this place came up. It's hard for me to believe that. Save your money and make it at home.

It's a no for me. If you're coming here in hopes of it being like the H. Salt Esq that used to be in San Pablo, please save yourself the time: this is NOT it. This place does not even compare in the slightest bit, in my opinion. We ordered the double catch, which is two pieces of fish and two prawns. Their food is excessively battered! Both the fish and prawns looked huge on the plate, and this is because of all the heavy batter being used. It's ridiculous! I bit into the prawn, and there was no prawn; only batter. Same for the fish; huge, thick batter, but small piece of fish inside. Also, I know the food is fried, but at least soak off some of the oil before serving. It was way too greasy for us. We didn't even finish our food. We did come having the expectation that this was the same as the one that used to be in San Pablo, but it's not by a long stretch. Also, the neighborhood didn't seem like the safest. Police activity when we pulled into the lot. The staff was nice, though, but we won't be returning.

My husband brought home fish, shrimp,chips, zucchini and chicken from this place. The fish tasted like fresh water catfish not ocean white cod the shrimp tasted so wrong?!?! The chips and zucchini needed seasoning. The chicken was the only thing seasoned well.

The shrimp are not deveined and they are FLATTENED OUT...cooked til rubbery. The Zucchini fries were Zucchinis sliced disks, they were uneven so it overcooked some and other pieces were okay. The fries were old/stale. The fish was rubbery..dry but oily. Flavorless. The batter is flavorless. Really disappointed with this place, had high hopes. Many recommend the fish n'chips here but...no way.

When you walk in the place, the first thing you smell is burnt grease like the grease has not been changed in months. Somebody needs to go in and let them know besides a customer that their grease is burnt and it's messing up their establishment
