Opinions de Palermo Italian Restaurant San Jose
Very unique place. From outside you can’t really tell how beautiful this place really is. The decoration and style are great. What I ordered was as expected and very delicious. The service is also very good and everyone wants to make you feel welcome. The parking for this place is right across the street from the restaurant. They even have someone with a stop sign to stop traffic and help you cross the street very safely. That’s definitely paying attention to details.
I made a last minute reservation here for Valentines with my s/o and Palermo delivered a experience I can only describe as homey. Fairy lights and a barn house style dining area make for a cozy and memorable time. - Two entrees, two cocktails, + tax and tips ended up totaling just a lil' over a Benjamin; so if you want an affordable but special dinner experience, look no further than this friendly neighborhood Italian joint. Thank you, and we'll definitely be back one day.
Love it here! This was my first time going and everything was good. The staff was really nice. Perfect place to go on a warm day in San Jose. Also the gnocchi pesto if you're a pesto lover? 10/10 would recommend.
The Palermo Italian Restaurant looked so inviting I couldn't just drive past the joint without at least checking it out. So..I called my pal Evo Pelligrini to see what he says, because he's eaten at every Italian restaurant in the greater bay area! Evo said Palermo is maybe the best Italian restaurant in San Jose, and I should stick with a pasta dish, so that's exactly what I did and the pasta was Spectacularly delicious! 5 ☆☆☆☆☆ for sure!
Our first time here is wonderful experience. Staff was really nice and personable, I can tell they are genuinely happy to be there. They are a pleasure to interact with. It was a full house and busy but we got seated fairly quickly even at 7pm on a Friday night. I'm surprised the food was really good. This is definitely a authentic Italian place, quality of flavors are different and tastefully better than your average pasta dishes out there. Our server lady was a delight and recommend me one of her favorite cocktails. Definitely different and I enjoy it. The setting is beautiful, only issue is that the restaurant can be loud with people, of course its busy. Price is definitely higher end, but if you want a date night, dine for a special occasion, I highly recommend it.
We’ve been coming here for quite a few years now and I simply cannot say enough about how wonderful it is. The owners, the food, the ambiance all contribute to making this one of the most enchanting restaurants in San Jose. We’ve now had three events (one intimate dinner party, one 30 person sit-down lunch and one large memorial service) and each time they have impressed us with their kindness and hospitality. The service is flawless and the food and cocktails maintained quality even through the very large event. We are so very appreciative to the owners and staff for the empathy they showed during two very hard days. Their warmth, their thoughtfulness warmed our hearts and eased our pain. We are so thankful this restaurant exists and as for food, everything is delicious but the pizza specials are particularly a delight. Go sit by Los Gatos Creek, grab a Bloody Mary and a pizza and watch a football or baseball game on Sunday. You won’t be disappointed.
Everything 10/10! The service was spectacular, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was amazing. They have a parking lot across the street, and even an employee to help you cross the street. The hostess was very friendly. Atmosphere was warm, family friendly, and very spacious. Right now they have lots of beautiful holiday decorations! Food was amazing, from drinks to main dishes to dessert. We had the chicken parmigiana and the pansotti. For dessert we had the tiramisu (1000/10) and the cheesecake, both were delicious. Service was fast and very friendly. Everything was very clean. Definitely a must. And definitely a place to return to!
Looking for some good authentic Italian while I was in town for business. Luckily, some great reviews pointed me in the right direction. It was easy to find but parking can be a little difficult. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive. They took us right to a table for a late lunch. Within 2 minutes we had waters and some great fresh bread. The inside is a combination of covered outside and inside seating. Started with bruschetta and side salads. Both were tasty and came out promptly. The highlight was our entrees. They smelled awesome and came out piping hot. I had the farfalle mafiusa, which is now tie pasta with mushroom and homemade Italian sausage. It was perfect! 🤩 I loved every bite and the sausage was delicious! My buddy had the sausage/mushrooms/peppers and said it was really good as well. I had to try their tiramisu after the waiter said it was made in house. Wow 🤯!!!! It was very good and fresh. I put this on my list to come back next time I’m in town.
We attended a baby shower event in Palermo's BEAUTIFUL patio. When you see Palermo from the outside, it is not much. But that changes as soon as you step inside. You have to experience it! Anyway, my review is slanted towards the venue and the AMAZING hospitality we received. The food was of course top notch! We loved the Zucchini fries, salad, pasta and pizza! But what we loved more was their wonderful service. They had their staff take drinks orders and serve up food. They also took care of boxing up left over food for guests to take home and served up dessert! Couldn't have asked for a more heartwarming experience! Consider Palermo for you next event! The only issue is with parking. Once overflow parking across the street fills up, you will need to either find street parking or park at Orchard Supply which is about a 5-7 mins walk to the restaurant.
Driving up, we were skeptical since it’s an industrial zone. We didn’t know there was a parking lot across the street from the restaurant so we parked in a neighborhood. Walking into the restaurant, I was amazed at the beautiful interior in the back. I can definitely see people renting this place out for events, there’s a lot of greenery and it’s a big open space. We ordered the Quattro platter appetizer to share and we had carbonara, seafood risotto, meatballs. The food was beautifully presented, the appetizer was really good! I would definitely come back to this restaurant.
Amazing food. Amazing staff. Amazing atmosphere. I can’t say enough good things about this restaurant. We enjoyed all of our food and every minute we were here. Some of the outstanding items we had were the calamari (perfectly fried), the Veal Giacomo (insanely flavorful) and the red sangria (which we may or may not have had too many of). So good.
For the past 4 years we have been coming to celebrate our aunts 100th, 101st, 102nd, 103rd and now her 104th birthday. The staff is heads and tails the best staff ever. We brought the decorations. They helped decorate. The food as always is always great. Highly recommend them for any special event.
What a hidden gem in San Jose. When you arrive, they have a parking lot across the street with an attendant, that also works as a crossing guard. Myself and a friend went and we couldn’t decide what we wanted so we asked if we could split plates and they let us do that. It was amazing that we could try both dishes, Which has me wanting to go back for more. In my opinion, that’s how a restaurant should be… you cannot wait for your next visit...well since this review I keep returning and trying new items and my favorite is still their amazing spaghetti & meatballs.
At first I was very skeptical about the place, but it was gone after the first visit. Keep coming back for the nice atmosphere and very tasty food. This time we got options from a special menu. And first time trying their pizza - Parma - should be in a regular menu. Everything was delicious
What a fantastic meal! From the very moment we walked in until the end of our time at Palermo was a 5-star experience. The service was impeccable all around - so warm, friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food was excellent. Wonderful full-flavored dishes that were subtly balanced without tasting heavy or overly seasoned. Their outdoor dining atmosphere was vibrant, warm and comfortable. I give this place a well-deserved 5-star rating for checking every box.
The food and service was amazing! The space was also super cute, almost transporting you to an entirely different place.

The seating is wonderfully spacious with a campy charm that feels fun. The staff are welcoming and attentive. Once you park, someone from the restaurant steps in as an honorary crossing guard, helping you cross safely. The complimentary bread was soft, warm, and clearly fresh from the oven. The marinara sauce in the farfalle mafiusa stood out for its bright and fresh tomato flavor. The pansotti was very tasty. The tomato butter sauce in it was rich yet beautifully balanced. The coconut mousse martini was dessert in a glass, but without the heaviness. The chocolate fondant cake was dense, and unapologetically sweet. Would happily come back again!
The pasta here is really good, much better than Olive Garden. The ingredients taste very fresh and tasty. The soup wasn't very good though. Pizza was good and had fresh cheese and tomatoes. Service and ambience were amazing. Would recommend.
Ordered the Fettuccine con pollo and my husband got the Shrimp Fettuccine Alfredo and both dishes were so tasty! Had a Friday night dinner here and the ambience was great, so much seating and an open space. I did make a reservation but it isn't needed if you have a small party. I especially loved my dish, so creamy, cheesy, the sundried tomatoes and mushrooms added a nice touch. I recommend this place for pasta!
A very authentic underrated italian place. We went there for a Friday dinner and was well received by their staffs. They have a dedicated spacious car parking. The restaurant spawns in a ground floor with soothing lights and good atmosphere. They gave us complimentary breads, which was good. We ordered gnocchi, chicken ravioli, salmon grill and a salmon pasta. The gnocchi and salmon stole the show. We finished our dinner with tiramisu which was too good. The service was very quick and the staffs attended us in a very friendly manner.

Friends and I had lunch at Palermo. The menu was varied and the food was good. The servers were friendly. They have both indoor and outdoor dining.
It's not bad. Smells like dry booze floors inside. Service was not great but nothing bad. They were just not inviting or friendly. The Italian food... I'd say... great recipe, and good ingredients, with bad preparation/ execution. A pretty pricey ravioli dish had a shockingly small portion size. I'll probably go back eventually to see how it is on the second go around.
Food was OK but needs attention to details. Arancine were crispy on the outside but the rice inside was gummy, lacking any individual grains of rice, almost like mashed potatoes rather than rice. The rice was also under-seasoned and bland. The chicken parmesan was a thinly sliced cutlet but needed some texture - the bread coating on the cutlet was not at all crispy and was soggy. I suspect that the chicken was not freshly prepared to order but was fried a long time in advance and simply assembled when I ordered. (As a side note - I was told that the chicken parm would include both pasta and a vegetable side, but I only got pasta and NO veggies). All that said, the tomato sauce on both the Arancine and chicken parm had fresh tomato and basil flavor.
I immediately smelled cigarette smoke once I posted the restrooms. It was beautiful but I hate the smell of smoke and it was strong. Maybe there was a smoke area nearby.\n\nService by most of the ser…
Unfortunately very mediocre Italian food for a very premium price. They need to up their game. Example; $33 for chicken and very average side dish.
I've ordered spaghetti here on occasion. I usually ask for extra sauce but forgot. The pasta is pretty naked due to a lack of sauce. Double the sauce and you'll be getting there. I finally ordered …
Went for a birthday dinner and was very disappointed by the food. Only good part of the entire dinner was the tiramisu. Calamari Fritte was dry and very hard to chew. They remade it for us, but the new one was equally disappointing. Pasta lacked any flavor and taste. Pizza was okish, nothing special.
$18 for a glass of Kendall Jackson wine!?!? You can buy 2 bottles for this price. Really unfortunate because the food was good but will not be returning with this type of greed

I find most of the dishes to be overpriced outside of pizza. Walking across the street felt dangerous as well. I think they need to add a cross walk.

The meat Lasagna had no cheese, watery sauce, no flavor, no cheese only pasta and bad meat sauce. Carbonara went straight to the trash. Avoid.
To Diane (the owner): you probably decided that you could talk to my husband and I any kind of way without repercussion, and I wouldn't doubt if that's because I'm Black and he's Hispanic. Well, you're in for a rude awakening. My husband and I dined in tonight for the first time at this restaurant. We actually enjoyed our meal and literally discussed plans to have my husband's birthday there. Towards the end of our meal, we saw movement in the corner of our eyes. We looked and saw a cockroach. A baby sized one came out a little later. They appeared to be coming from behind the picture on the wall. As we were already pretty much done eating, we flagged a waiter to bring us the check, and we informed them of the roaches we saw. We didn't make it a big deal, just casually informed them. Didn't make a scene, complain, or make demands for a free meal, nothing. We actually had no plans to post a review about this; we just wanted to simply inform them. More waiters came and they were very apologetic and offered to move us to a different table and a free dessert which we declined both because we were already leaving. We thought that was going to be the end of it, but it wasn't. Shortly after that, Diane appeared at our table and glared evilly back and forth between my husband and I without a word for several seconds. Then, the first words out of her mouth with the most condescending tone, "Do we have a problem here?" My husband responded, "The problem is right there," pointing to the roach on the wall. Her response came with increased aggression, "Do you know you're outside?" At this point, we gathered she was on the defense. We were in shock and literally speechless as she continued to patronize us and literally point her fingers in our faces. Something along the lines of, "We're outside. The homeless live near here and we're by the creek. We have pest control come every week. I can assure you there are no roaches in our kitchen. The next time you want to eat here, just say you want to eat inside." And then she walked off without a single apology. My jaw was on the floor, and the roach and its baby had a front row seat to it all. Diane, we were first time customers, and in all my years of dining out, I have never, and I do mean never, been treated this disrespectfully by anyone at a restaurant, especially from the owner. You are classless, and you don't deserve the amazing staff you have. We will never dine here again, but then again, you probably wanted this to be the outcome.
