Pedro's in Santa Clara is praised for its beautiful hacienda-style atmosphere and spacious interior, making it ideal for gatherings. The veggie quesadillas and guacamole are frequently mentioned as highlights. Some find the service stretched and chips oily, but overall experience is positive.

We visited this restaurant in the early evening and I was instantly impressed by the interior! We ordered coconut salmon and I substituted it with Mexican rice since the coconut rice has dairy. We also ordered another salmon, Guajillo salmon. Their kids meal is ideal for my little one. Their chicken quesadilla was delicious as well as their kids Mac & cheese. They make their avocado salsa in front of you. Everything was delicious!! Even their chips! I definitely will be back.
We were on work travel looking for a premium Mexican restaurant. Pedro's fit that definition in both service and food quality. Great atmosphere and the whole experience was just what we were looking for.
Love Pedro’s for its delicious Mexican offerings, beautiful ambiance and great location.
Upscale Mexican restaurant. Very nice inside, but the location is sketch. They have a sign by the entrance to keep your belongings with you due to frequent break ins. I suppose if I were a thief I'd choose Pedro's as my target too after seeing the type of clientele walking in. So remember to keep your belongings with you. I came here as with some coworkers for lunch and ordered the sweet corn enchiladas. Holy moly were they delishious. Sweet and filling. I've never seen any place have that on the menu. It I'm glad I tried it. If you want something new but nothing out of the norm, try the sweet corn enchiladas.
At last! We've found great Tex-Mex food in Northern California! We moved to Monterey from Texas and love it here, but we miss Tex-Mex food. We've found that most Mexican restaurants in our area serve coastal Mexican food. We both adore fish tacos. However, we've been missing that cheesy, flavorful Mexican food that we so enjoyed in Texas. On a recent trip to San Francisco, we stopped at Pedro's near San Jose. The building resembles a hacienda, like so many restaurants in the Dallas area. The service was impeccable. We ordered the freshly made guacamole, which reminded me of Paloma Blanca in San Antonio. I wish they offered tableside add-ins like Paloma Blanca. I miss their mango add-in. My husband loved the mole chicken enchiladas. He has a difficult time finding great mole sauce and was very pleased. I had an enchilada plate. The beef enchilada was delicious, but the chicken enchilada was the best I've ever eaten. The chicken was juicy and perfectly cooked. The red sauce was perfectly spiced. A lovely flan was the delicious ending of our nostalgic meal. We will definitely return, and next time, we plan to try the fajitas!
I have never explored Mexico, but I have always wanted to spend a day or two in one of those houses with Spanish-style roofs, floors covered with beautiful tiles, and paintings hanging on the walls depicting history and culture. I love the ambience of Pedor’s because of that. The food is delicious, every time we visit, it maintains the flavor, color, taste. I don’t want to talk about the service much because it always varies. Like life, my experience with service has had its ups and downs, but I don’t care much.
Very nice vibe. The restaurant is also spacious and good for company events. Foods are in high quality. I’m usually not a big fan of Mexican food, but I love the delicious food here.
Absolutely delicious food and excellent atmosphere. Will come here again for a date or happy hour!
Very glad that Pedro’s here in Santa Clara has retained the quality unlike Los Gatos branch. Our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Silicon Valley area. Highly recommended !
Went on Sunday evening; didn't wait. Food was really good, as was the dessert. Plenty of space to dine, as well as parking spots.
Company event was here. There was a specific menu for it. Loved the options. Chips were always warm and unlimited salsa given. Delicious! Service was also great. Icing on the cake is that they now use compostable straws. Very cool! -- Edit: post COVID visit. Clean tables, waitress/waiters wear masks, still a pleasure to come and sit for lunch. Their food is still delicious.
We thoroughly appreciated our lunch, which included a delightful serving of chips and salsa. I enjoyed the flavorful chicken bowl, expertly paired with a mescal margarita, while Eric savored the crab and shrimp enchiladas and a Stellar non-alcoholic beer. We strongly recommend visiting them, as their high standards ensure a memorable dining experience.
Our server Dulce and the staff there yesterday night were amazing - they allowed my friend’s service dog to stay with us and gave him a treat, brought us extra wraps for fajitas and put fresh strawberries in our lemonade. Food and ambiance were amazing - love this place and is my go to spot for Mexican food in South Bay.
Not sure why no family style option for group of 16. But, guess there is combinaciones option. Chicken Tinga, Fajitas, tacos, good. Guac reliable starter not made at table but good with three salsas. Group of 16 tap came out less than $900 Have to do something about those bees in giant palm tree...
Very huge villa style restaurant, very colorful and traditional ambiance. Great for family/friends gatherings or a date night you will not be disappointed. Food - tried Chicken Tinga (slightly tangy soupy chicken) very tasty also one of the top recommendations, Achiote Shrimp bowl very good and huge bowl, Chips and Salsa - salsa is very good if you like garlicky taste this is definitely for you!
Amazing dining experience at Pedro's. Vegetarian enchiladas were delicious and the ambiance adds to the overall dining experience. Horchata is not on the menu and is a must try. Guacamole is made on the live counter in front of the table and served fresh along with the required customization of ingredients.
Lovely restaurant just off of 101 in Santa Clara. Beautiful space that looks like a Spanish mansion with indoor & outdoor seating. Lots of capacity— the place seats over 300 people! Food is pretty good, our faves were the freshly ground guacamole, churros and carne asada (big portions!). They have a full drink menu as well. This is a fun restaurant with nice atmosphere and wide selection of Mexican food.
What we ordered is not cheap but it’s worthy since the food quality is pretty good. All ingredients are fresh and we love the grilled salmon. I like the tacos. Really nice lunch and the decoration there is wonderful. The whole building is really nice. Love those exposed beams with drawings, the potty decorative animals. Really really nice place to have food and spend the time!
Pedro’s offers an authentic Hacienda environment and top quality food from its wide variety menu. The service is great, all the employees are diligent and friendly, serving size is generous, and food comes to the table in a reasonably short period after ordering. I have been visiting this establishment for many years now, and highly recommend it.
This is a full service restaurant, thus qualified for a full 5 star. I was pleasantly surprised from water, through chips n salsa, to final Colorado dish, that literally melted in my mouth as posted by another patron. I highly recommend you experience the food and service in a surrounding that was pleasant to view.
This is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant in the Bay Area! I have been amazed every time I have come here. I would def recommend the vegetarian fajitas and the veggie quesadillas, and I always, always order a side of chips and salsa. You can’t go wrong here. And the place is beautiful, they do have live music too during brunch.
Just had dinner at Freedom Circle in Santa Clara – it was pretty busy, especially around 7pm. The portions were generous, and the veggie quesadilla was seriously good! The guacamole was a highlight. Parking was a bit tricky, and they seemed a little stretched for staff. Maybe they could offer a quicker takeout option – would be great for a busy evening.
This restaurant was impressive with its service , food and ambiance. The best Mexican restaurant in the peninsula . Very inviting atmosphere. We had chips and guac , veggie fajitas and quesadillas. Every dish was delicious and the salsas were a feast to the taste buds . The signature margarita was so refreshing that I ended up with a second serving. Service was above par , and we enjoyed the server making fresh guac by our table . Highly recommend this restaurant for family dinner and date nights.
Pedro's Restaurant and Cantina in Santa Clara is a beloved spot for classic Mexican fare in a lively, hacienda-style setting. Known for its spacious interior and charming décor, Pedro’s offers an inviting atmosphere ideal for gatherings. The menu features a variety of Mexican staples, with popular choices like fajitas, enchiladas, and their famous margaritas. Service is attentive, and portions are generous, making it great for families and groups. With its festive ambiance and flavorful dishes, Pedro’s provides a memorable dining experience for those craving authentic Mexican cuisine in a vibrant setting.
They serve authentic Mexican foods. Try their fahita and margarita pitcher The interior design is authentic too. They have both inside and outside seating.
This venue is a popular hub in the Santa Clara tech park for professional gatherings . While the culinary quality is high—the quesadillas are highly recommended—their Margarita was a bit underwhelming compared to the rest of the menu.
Went here for a birthday on a weekday. Pedro's was about 50% occupied at 6:30 PM on a weekday. The place is good, spacious and seating is laid back. They also allow you to BYOW - bring your own wine ;-) which they serve. The food is decent. We ordered a lot of food - Chimichangas, Fish tacos, Chicken Tinga, etc. The food was decent and I was happy with the serving size. Definitely will come back here again for their salmon.
1st time checking out Pedro's and I wasn't disappointed. I tried the 2 item combo and chose beef enchiladas. They were super feeling and flavorful. Not pictured was the guacamole and chips we had as an appetizer. The atmosphere was very nice and the building was nicely setup as well. They can get busy fast but that didn't stop the friendly prompt service we received. Ideal for lunch work gatherings or even just a nice family dinner.
Delicious food, super fancy. Even water came in a thick glass bottle and probably showed up in the bill. Communication was a little unclear: e.g. "would you like this appetizer or this appetizer while you look at the menu?" "yes, we'll have the first appetizer" both appetizers arrive at the table. Something that would go another on a second visit.
Great food here! The chips and salsa are hard to stay away from. Came here for a birthday and really enjoyed the atmosphere and decor. It's a private restaurant near a bunch of big tech companies so it definitely feels kind of secluded. We had great service and I really enjoyed my meal.
I am pretty impressed with the food at this restaurant, especially their street-style tacos. The chicken tasted pretty good, as well as all the other ingredients in the taco. The chips are ok, but could be better. The drinks are ok as well, and there is a good selection to choose from. The atmosphere is very nice, and I definitely loved the Spanish style architecture. Overall I would recommend coming here!
The location is really nice with lots of room among the tables and plenty of space for larger groups. The building looks like a grand hacienda with fireplaces, fountains, and decorations. Staff was helpful and friendly. I ordered the chicken mole enchiladas and the presentation was great but I didn't love the flavor - maybe too heavy on the cocoa with the chicken a bit dry. I'd try something else if I go again.
As with all things, the prices have gone up. Warning, they do charge for chips and salsa. The food wasn't quite as good as when I last went there. But I must admit it's been decades. Just wanted good old fashioned Mexican food like they had at El Burros. Didn't campsite but still good
Came by with a group for dinner. We each ordered our own entrees and split chips and salsa and guac. The apps were good, but a bit on the pricier side. I personally ordered the steak tacos. Meat was cooked very well. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Decor is a bit dated inside, but there is a ton of space for seating inside, and some seating outside as well. Staff was friendly. Parking available on site.
The ambience is spectacular, looks very authentic. The place is very spacious and has meeting rooms upstairs. We went during weekday lunch, it was very busy filled with business people. Our table was pretty satisfied with the food, the portions are generous. Steak Fajita was very soft and tasty. Main+drinks+tip costs approximately $30/person. The place has their own parking lot but it can get busy fast. Make reservations on weekday lunches. The service was friendly but not so fast which is acceptable given the place was packed.
Nicely located for business lunch dinner. Suitable for any group size. Plenty of parking but don't leave any valuables in car
This is my second time visiting with my colleagues. I liked their frozen margarita, but noticed that their blender may need to be upgraded. Still, it's tasty. The menus are authentic, and there are plenty to choose from. I highly recommend their homemade chips and guacamole, which they make in front of you, fresh, with an option to select with or without cilantro. There is plenty of parking and seating areas, great for a group gathering.
Beautiful building and atmosphere. Pleanty of room and spaces for various parties. We went on a holiday so it wasn't too busy. The chips and salsa were nice and hot. Three types of salsa which were ok. I had a virgin Pina colada with was ok. My main couse the stuffed pepper was delicious with beans and rice. My friend got the combination plate with enchiladas and a taco. He said it was very tasty and filling. Overall, it was a nice place to visit. We will surely be back
I have lunch at this restaurant many times. It is a very nice decorated and very nice and unique interior. It can host a big group. Every time I have a meal here, I always have beef fajita. It is served on a hot plate, and the beef is tender. Service is good. This place is good for the group. Now they even have a section for watching soccer game.
I really hate to write such a bad review to a restaurant with so much potential. The food is good and so are the drinks, when you finally get them. But the service was terrible and there were some shady dealings with the bill. I was with a large party (13) celebrating my daughter’s college graduation, we went to the bar (which was empty) to order drinks and the manager requested that we order our drinks at our table, no problem. But then it took a while for our server to come take our orders and even longer to get our drinks. Then our server went missing while we waited for her to take our food orders and when she finally did it took a really long time to get our food. It wasn’t that busy and though we were a large party, we were not demanding at all. One of our party spoke with a manager, who apologized profusely and for a moment it seemed things were looking up but then things just got strange. The server started bringing things to our table that we did not order (food ans drinks) and telling us they were on the house. The server brought a plate to my mother, it was not what she ordered and my mother said that was ok, at this point she would just eat it. The server insisted that my mother could eat that food but that she would have the correct order brought to her. When the server brought the correct order to my mother, she lifted the other plate out from under her and took it away! Somebody else stopped her, but still… awkward. When the bill came, you guessed it, all of those “one the house” items were actually “on the bill” 🤦🏻♀️ Because we were a large party an 18% gratuity was added to the total so I don’t know if the server thought we wouldn’t notice this and it would increase her tip.? Also, I understand why some places add a tip for large parties but it’s really a bad practice, this server clearly was not motivated to serve us for 18%, perhaps if she’d thought she could have gotten more she would have been more invested? Honestly though if the service had been good we would have tipped her more!
Well my first surprise was that you had to pay for salsa and chips I think this is the first restaurant that this has been the case. The actual atmosphere of the restaurant is very nice and they had a large party going on while I was there. I had an interesting vegetarian dish.
Was my first time on this restaurant. We was 9ppl in the party, the restaurant wasn't bussy at 7pm they had few more large party, the waitresses was nice but she forgot few small request here or there and kind of slow too. Food it's ok no good no great Nice building , big parking lot. I'm not sure if I will come back I ordered enchiladas Suizas and the cheese wasn't on it when it's one of the main ingredients and warm no hot.
Not a place for vegetarian. Vegetarian food was disappointing. Service was slow. No complimentary chips and salsa.... The service was slow and confusing. Had to wait long even though the table appeared to be empty. Food was okay . Tamales were good but the vegetarian enchiladas not so good . Enchiladas did not have a proper or decent filling. Ordered salsa and chips and that was great . Really good . May be the only thing to have there .
I really liked the atmosphere, but thats about all I really liked. The food looked good, but for me, it lacked flavor. Heads-up, happy hour is only outside, chips & salsa were $5 and you may want to ask prices for anything extra you might ask for. (My friend asked for some sour cream and when we got the check, it showed a $2.50 charge for sour cream!)
This review is for the only dish I ordered and it was the Steak de la Casa and it was underwhelming and super fatty. I know ribeye cuts are fatty, but this was not a tasty fatty and chewy. The sauce was okay, but for this price and the quality of steak, it was not worth it. I wanted to like this place based on the glowing reviews, but it was underwhelming for me. Try it out and hopefully it will be a better dining experience for you.
We went there for the very first time and being vegetarians we did not have much options. There has been only 4-5 options in veg that we could order for main course. The name of appetizers were quite interesting but sadly the taste was not great. However I did order pina colada which tasted like cold milk but the server saw me not liking the drink and he came forward and got me another drink called billionaire which was good .The ambience is great there and food quality is good . The overall service was also good so I am definitely going there again and cheers to festive season with wonderful decoration.we ordered churros in the end which was quite disappointing too but due to their service I would Like to give them 3.5 stars.
update - went back the next day just for the Tacos, the Tacos looked tired and been sitting under a warmer for probably hours. It was super disappointing, and tasted awful. the service was ok. first visit- The waitress was very good and wonderful. The beef fajita was good, the beef was a bit chewy. The beef tacos were excellent as per my son. The vegetarian ball was okay and it felt like it was missing something. The overall experience was good.
Came here for a small group gathering. Ordered pitcher of alcohol, meat nachos to share. The nachos is good. But… the beef fajita that I got is below average. I paid $26 for this dish, finding 98% of the plate is onion and pepper, 2% meat. Tbh, I thought I ordered a vegetarian dish. I thought it’s just my dish. It turned out that two of my friends also have the same problem with it. This place is overpriced and food is just mediocre. People good for drinking only. At the bed, each person paid $65.
Pedro’s was great in the past, tonight it was just sad and rude. We got dressed up and were very excited to have a fun nice date night with our niece tonight. It was SO empty, so empty we weren’t sure it was even open but maybe holiday weekends are slower…We figured since it was empty, maybe it was okay to ask for a booth. Unsure if this was the reasoning, they said yes, but our waiter, Jai? (SP?) was obviously put off by something we did as we figured it must have been asking for the booth because he was very cold and very unfriendly, barely attentive, then at the end had us help him and the busser clear the dishes as soon as we were done, taking our drinks immediately too, we were a bit too shocked to ask if we could finish out drinks so we didn’t say anything. Maybe It all would not have been so bad but that whole time him and the busser were having their own super loud conversation over over us talking at the table, not only that BUT it was all about how they couldn’t wait to get off work! It was so loud that both my partner and I could not hear each other talking and eventually stopped talking! Even our niece mentioned how rude it was later when we were driving home. I get it, I’ve worked jobs I wanted to get off and go home too but I don’t talk about it over customers talking. One of the rudest service things I’ve witnessed. I thought they were mad at us because we made them work late or something but it had only been 8:30pm. Idk. We still gave him a sizable tip but in retrospect if his service was actually representative of a tip it should have been cheap like the service was. Food was okay, nothing special. Lots better places in San Jose for friendlier staff and tastier food. Major bummer, Pedro’s used to be a class act and one of the tops.
We made reservations for dinner before the Rolling Stones concert in Santa Clara when we got there they sat us at a table that was tiny and right in the path of traffic. I understand it was busy due to the concert but they did not staff it knowing that it was going to be busy. It took over 20 minutes to get our drinks and they had absolutely no alcohol in them It was just margarita mix. The tacos were dry and bland and had no flavor, the prawn appetizer needed salt it was very bland also. We asked her refill on our chips and did not get any for another 20 minutes. When our dinner was served they brought two of the plates out while the third never showed up until we asked about it and then they made it and brought it out. For six tacos, a nacho That was six or eight chips with some toppings on them and five cocktails it was $200 If the food was good I mean top notch and the drinks had alcohol in them "maybe" it would have been worth the money.
Love the ambiance of this place. It's so big and spacious, also I love the architecture and the setup—but that's it. If you just happen to be dining when there are work groups or other big groups here, good luck having anyone service you. We must have talked to the waiter once, just to take our order. Refills, we had to flag down a busser. To go boxes, we had to flag down someone else. The check, we had to flag down another staff who was clearing a table next to us. Our waiter did not leave, he was still on shift, but just catering to other people. Food— it was ok. Nothing to fabulous, and certainly not worth the price point. Food was bland. I really wanted to enjoy this place because I heard nothing but great things.
Ordered taquitos because the menu showed a whole plate full with lots of good fixings but when they showed up it was only 3 dry taquitos and a box of soggy lettuce and bland salsa. Definitely not worth the 14$ + tax and tip If you want authentic mexican food do your self a favor and go to taco bell, you'll be less disappointed.
Food was good . Costumer service was not the best our server didn’t ask if we want spilt a check or nothing then tipped himself . As a former server I know I don’t tip myself it’s whatever the client wants to leave and I ask them how they want their check
Terrible food. I had way better Mexican food at a friend's son's birthday party catered by a local Mexican caterer. Only chips and salsa were good in this restaurant. Guacamole was overpriced and tasted average. For entree, we ordered enchiladas in mole sauce and veg fajita sizzler. both items tasted awful and we had to throw most of it away. the sizzler didn't sizzle. Everything was overpriced and I'd not recommend going there if you're looking for tasty food.
My family and I (2 adults & 1 child) ate at their buffet last Sunday. The food and atmosphere were nice, no complaints. As I was reviewing my CC bill, I noticed my total bill was $337.18. mind you buffet is 65.00 per person. This math didn’t add up. The server might have moved the decimal point on his tip a few spaces to the right. Waiting to talk to the GM to correct this mistake!😡😡 I tip generously for good service & good food but this was ridiculous!!
