Opinions de Petiscos Adega San Jose
We were able to visit on opening day and we're so happy to welcome this latest restaurant by the Adega group to downtown San Jose! The SoFA neighborhood is up and coming, and this Petiscos fits in nicely. Due to COVID restrictions we sat outdoors. The indoors was done and has a nice mural for folks to enjoy when indoor dining can reopen. Service was very friendly and attentive, which I've come to expect from the Adega group. There was a decent selection of small plates, and a starter selection of wine/beer. We ended up ordering the octopus salad, codfish cakes, chicken mini pie, creamed spinach, sauteed shrimp, beef w/ garlic & pickles, the roasted octopus, and the flan. This ended up being a good amount of food for two people. The food was excellent! Our favorites were the roasted octopus and the shrimp, but there wasn't a single plate that we weren't happy with. I'm expecting that once the restaurant can open regularly, they menu might grow and evolve. For now I'd gladly revisit when I can in order to try as much of the menu as possible.
What a great find. Didn't plan on coming here but glad we stumbled upon it. Welcoming atmosphere that serves Portuguese food "tapas/small plate" style. Went with a group of 5 so we all got to try a little bit of a lot of things. None of us left hungry, that is for certain! Flavors were great, food preparation was great, service was great. Our favorites were the shrimp in garlic sauce (not photographed), Butternut Squash soup although it was more of a cream garlic flavor, duck fried rice (not photographed), I really enjoyed the lobster in kimchi mayo, and my husband loved the Francesinha although it was super filling! Everything was good but those were the top choices. Excited to go back to try more!
Petiscos - A Taste of Portugal in the Heart of San Jose, California. As a gourmet and wine connoisseur, you'll appreciate Petiscos, a unique gastronomic jewel nestled in San Jose, California. This restaurant is a warm and welcoming spot known for its delicious offerings inspired by the rich flavors and culinary traditions of Portugal. Petiscos, a cultural reference from Portugal as much as a small snack accompanied by drinks, is a perfect name for a place that is fun, approachable, and meant to be enjoyed among good friends and family. Petiscos, like its Spanish counterpart tapas, are smaller, shareable plates of traditional dishes, making for a sociable dining experience where the table can explore an array of dishes in one sitting. Indeed, the restaurant's tagline is "Petiscos are best enjoyed when shared! Location and Atmosphere Located at 399 S. 1st St., San Jose, Petiscos is open seven days a week from 11:30 AM to 9:00 PM. Although street parking is available, it may be hard to find in the evenings. So, you might prefer to use ride-share transportation if visiting during these hours. The atmosphere at Petiscos is warm and inviting, with an upscale yet comfortable setting. You can choose from indoor and outdoor seating, the latter being dog-friendly, a pleasant surprise for the canine lovers amongst us. Petiscos also offers a full bar, wi-fi, and waiter service, creating an ambiance that encourages relaxation and enjoyment. Petiscos has an inviting ambiance that embodies the spirit of its home country, Portugal. The rustic décor, the subtle hum of conversation, and the clinking of cutlery against the dishes set the stage for the night. But before we get to the showstopper, let's talk about what's brewing behind the scenes. The Food - A Melting Pot of Portuguese Flavors Let's talk about the food. Petiscos' menu revolves around the concept of shared small plates, or "petiscos", which is a staple of Portuguese and Spanish dining culture. This approach to food makes the dining experience more social and interactive, and at Petiscos, it's done exceptionally well. Their menu is a diverse and mouth-watering blend of Portuguese favorites that feature authentically prepared dishes and imported ingredients, which resonate with the true essence of Portugal. For starters, let's talk about their ‘Flamed Chouriço’ and ‘Blood Sausage’. The chouriço, Portugal's much-loved sausage, has an exceptional taste that comes from being flamed to perfection. The blood sausage, a delicacy for the adventurous, offers a depth of flavor that is unforgettable. Let's start with the small bites, or as the locals call them, petiscos. Among the most popular items, you'll find broa, a traditional cornbread, and lupini beans, codfish croquettes. You can also indulge in a tender octopus salad, a meal in its own right. For a more adventurous taste, Petiscos serves braised pig ears tossed with a lively citrus and herb dressing, perfectly paired with a glass of Portuguese wine. Next, move on to the main dishes, where the culinary artistry of Petiscos truly shines. Try the grilled sardines, a simple yet delightful dish. Petiscos not only brings Portuguese flavors to the plate but also enhances the dining experience with its carefully selected collection of Portuguese wines. Wine - The Perfect Pairing Finally, let's talk about wine. At Petiscos, the selection of Portuguese wines is impressive. They serve everything from light Vinho Verde to a full-bodied Douro and a rich and sweet Port. The staff is well-versed in their offerings and will recommend the perfect pairing for your meal. In conclusion, Petiscos offers a unique blend of Portuguese culture, flavors, and an excellent selection of wines right in the heart of San Jose. It's not just a meal; it's an immersive dining experience. So, whether you are a food enthusiast looking for your next culinary adventure, or simply someone who loves good food, wine, and company, Petiscos is worth a visit.
This is a fun place to go to out with friends or to celebrate something. The portions are small since it is tapas style so it’s best to order lots of dishes and share which it can get pricey. I recommend going for a special occasion or once in a while. The service was very good. The flaming chorizo and the seafood rice are must orders! The steak sandwich was cooked to perfection.
I went as a solo diner and sat at the bar. The food was delicious and most of the dishes had just a few ingredients that let each ingredient shine. The one exception was the steak, for me it was over-prepared with the Demi glaze and fried egg on top; seemed a shame to hide a beautiful cut of meat under all of that. My one complaint would be that the meal was really expensive and I don’t know if it was quite worth the price.
We ordered 10 different tapas here and all of them were so good! I highly recommend the mushroom rice- that was my favorite. If I came here again, I wouldn't order the pig's ear salad or blood sausage. Those dishes were still good, but also relatively bland and I've had better elsewhere. I am excited to come back here again and try more tapas. You will have to pay for either street parking, which can be difficult to find, or the more expensive lot parking.
Good place for drinks and tapas. Pig ear salad is better than I expected, very crunchy. Flamed chourico is good for picture, taste okay Beef tongue must finish quick, otherwise you will taste the fishy smell The octopus is tender and fresh. The sauteed vegetables are flavorful and taste like... veggie 😄 The alentejana cocktail is interesting, tastes okay, fancy ice cube, and delicious ham. It's worth a try.
SO GOOD 🇵🇹 We enjoyed every single dish. We shared food like family style, which makes the experience much cooler 😎 (you get to taste plenty of stuff). We had mussels 🐚, 🦆duck rice, 🐙 octopus, some bread, and a francesinha (sort of a big sandwich with steak, sausage, pork, cheese and a heavy gravy). Wine house is not bad! And the price was pretty good, it's was like 130 bucks for me and my wife, but there was easily food for 3 people.
Wonderful day night , food is delicious , services is fast, beer is good but the teabag quality not worth to order.
Food was very good. I'll be back. Staff was incredibly friendly and know the menu. Scallops we're incredible. Asparagus risotto and shrimp were very good. We shared the ribeye ( steak. Frites) and glad we did with three people. I'm stuffed.
Speakeasy style bar at night. Old fashioned was on point. Very friendly staff. Even the bouncer was very professional and respectful. A great place for a nightout to catch up with friends and etc.
Delicious Portuguese tapas. It is recommended to order two tapas per person. The seasoning is very unique but tasty. The dishes I like the most are the beef tongue and duck rice. I also like their Porto.
We returned from traveling through Portugal last month and was looking for a Portuguese restaurant in the Bay Area. We live in east bay and traveled to South Bay to try Petiscos. A big part of our travels is eating local cuisine and more authentic food experiences. So we had pretty high expectations for this place. First, decor was a nod to Portugal and a nice touch. The Sangria was good and the tapas style plates started to flow. All the food was great and reminiscent of the flavors we had in Portugal. We would definitely make another drive to Petiscos and try more dishes that we didn’t get to try this time.
Petiscos "Downtown" in San Jose is an great restaurant spotlighting Portuguese small plates. The food is served in a unique style, and the staff are very friendly. Each of the items were extremely delicious. Special mentions are the sausage, the octopus, the scallops, and the sardine. The food is very good, and the desserts are to die for! I highly recommend this restaurant.
We had dinner here and it was awesome! The food was very tasty and the service was great! Our server, forgot his name, suggested a couple dishes and what he suggested hit the spot! If you want great Portuguese food, definitely come to Petiscos!
I am sooooo grateful Petiscos is coming to downtown Gilroy! Portuguese cuisine is much needed with the fabulous and dedicated Petiscos team to enhance our dinning experience in the Garlic Capitol of the World. A very refined menu with plenty of options in both meals and libations that take you back to old town Sintra… The team: Josiah, Raul, Fernanda and Owner/ Pastry Chef Sandra give their heart and soul to making your dinning experience as delightful and as close as a Michelin Star event is super humbling. A perfect value to bringing Portuguese Cuisine to America.

Portuguese tapas place locate around downtown San Jose. You are looking at average 3 dishes per person, a good mix of seafood, beef, pork and chicken for your selection. The octopus is tender 👌👍 and well seasoned, highlight of the night. They also have some rare items like pig ear, beef tongue if you wanna explore. It is about 50-60 per person. Decent restaurant, good vibe.
I truly enjoyed my dining experience at Petiscos. I was looking for a place to eat and stumbled upon this gem. I sat at the bar and had the pleasure of being served by the bartender Joao. What a great guy and a tremendous professional. He was very attentive to ensuring that I had the best possible time and made awesome recommendations. It was obvious to me that he enjoyed his job and excellence is what he took pride in. The Pig's Ear Salad was interesting and different. I am glad that I tried it. The Blood Sausage was exceptional and my Pastel De Nata dessert was wonderful. I would definitely come back.
Couldn't find a breakfaat/brunch menu so I added some pictures in case anyone else is interested in their breakfast menu. Food was great but really pricey. Enjoyed the grilled octopus the most as well as the grilled vegetables. Duck rice was a tiny portion for $19. Overall, we did enjoy our meal and can't complain about the food but it did feel overpriced.
This place is good, but not amazing. I was here previously with a friend back in 2021 for dinner and we ordered approximately six to eight dishes. Some dishes were good and some were not, but because I love Portuguese food and there are not many in the area, so I decided to try again because of the expanded menu and high ratings. This time it came on a Monday for lunch hoping to try the Francesinha, however, the food sever explained that this dish is one of their largest and meant to be shared by two people. At $29, this made me pause, even though I've had this dish many times in Portugal, and I could finish it with a side of fries! Instead, I ordered the cod fish cakes, fish stew cataplana and flan. The cod fish cakes were better this time, but for $9 for two pieces, I've definitely had better. Unfortunately, the fish stew cataplana fell short. The fish was cooked perfectly, however lacked flavor. The flan was dense and the best out of the three. I will still come back, because I want to try the Francesinha, but I have a feeling it may just be OK. (3/5) Service was excellent. Staff was well informed, welcoming and on point. (5/5)
I liked the pretty casual vibe reminiscent of the newer, slightly upscale fast food establishments. The service was quite decent. As for the food, most of the dishes offered were quite delicious with unique flavors, each bringing a distinctive savoriness, sourness, or tanginess. I most recommend the codfish cake as an appetizer. The delicate codfish meat was softly yet crisply fried into a cake-like shape. I quite enjoyed the crispy yet soft texture. The duck rice was also a highlight as many flavors from meats such as duck and premium bacon harmonized with crispy rice. The octopus was also nice as the tentacle meat was chewy and abundant yet soft and fragrant. Even the potatoes were crisply done and the garlic made soft with confidence, which I found unique. The grilled prawns were one of my favorites, seared in lemon to perfection while maintaining the best essence of seafood. The prawns were satisfyingly chewy. Even the bread and broa combination was quite good though the broa (Portuguese corn bread) was a little on the starchier side. I recommend eating the broa with only the butter. The white bread was a little lighter and could be eaten with olive oil. I also recommend the sumols for a refreshing soft drink. Light, tangy, with a subtle fizz that won't leave you feeling overwhelmed. The one complaint I would have is the pig's ears. Perhaps, it is because I am not fond of cold dishes but I found the pig's ears' texture undesirably chewy, and the sour sauce didn't really harmonize with the pig's ears. Also, for first-timers, if you're thinking of coming full, either order a lot of dishes or come having somewhat eaten before trying out the dishes here. The dishes tend to run small considering they're tapas, so if you're sharing with a partner, you might have to eat more.
I had a really good meal at Adega, so I decided to visit Petisco to try out the new format. The place is nicely decorated and is a lot more casual than Adega was. The food is delicious but is not as good and creative as the old restaurant. The best dish for me was the blood sausage. The cumin makes the sausage really pop. Cocktails are okay and can be skipped. I do really miss Adega.
Came here with four people with a reservation on a Saturday night - we were seated outside and there were heaters so it wasn’t too cold. Good: I enjoyed all the little dishes they had - my favorites were the spinach cream, the duck rice, mushroom rice, and the filet mignon. The free bread was great and we got a ton of refills. The cream tart dessert had a marshmallow texture which was to die for. Bad: The meat croquettes were a bit dry and the octopus was small. The portion sizes here are not impressive - expect to order a lot to be full! Overall a unique experience and wouldn’t come again because we tried everything we wanted off the menu.
Made reservations here for a dinner out with my husband and brother. The area seemed very busy that day and we couldn't find parking anywhere. We ended up doing paid parking right across from there which was a great alternate option. Once we arrived at the restaurant we got seated right away. Our server came and asked us for drinks and we tried some awesome drinks. We also ordered some food right away the shrimp, the seafood paella and couple more dishes. Food tasted decently well but I think their could be more addition to the flavors to make them stand out a bit. The shrimp dish was really nice and I think it's worth a try
After visiting Adega, we had to try their sister restaurant in downtown. Food was tasty and authentic. Garlic shrimp was fresh and grilled octopus was tender. Save room for desserts. Their pastel de natas are delicious as well as the bread pudding. Parking is either street parking or in a nearby paid parking lot and they don’t validate for parking.
It was definitely the porcine dishes and the pulpo that really stood out to me. The pig’s ear salad and flamed chourico (which arrived still flaming in a pig shaped dish) were really tasty. The pig’s ear was cut thicker than we were normally used to but the dressing was utterly delicious. The pulpo was cooked to perfection; no complaints whatsoever.
I was really looking forward to trying authentic Portuguese food today. Overall, the flavors were on the saltier side for a Michelin-rated restaurant, and the wine list wasn’t very extensive. Corkage is $45. Compared to other Portuguese restaurants I’ve tried in San Jose, a few dishes here are quite close to the authentic local taste. The white sangria was pleasantly balanced—not too sweet—and very refreshing. The blood sausage was chewy, aromatic, and tasted truly authentic, with just the right amount of salt. The duck rice was my absolute favorite. The seasoning was perfect for my taste, and I loved the chewy texture and the rich, layered broth with mushrooms—it was full of depth and flavor. The cod casserole tasted like a gratin, but it was way too salty. If it were slightly less salty, it would have been much better. Still, it paired nicely with the duck rice—but I probably wouldn’t order it again. The tempura beans were crispy on the outside with a nice bite from the beans inside—tasty but nothing special. The house aioli wasn’t the traditional Portuguese or Spanish yolk-heavy version; it was more like the American-style aioli. I would definitely come back for the blood sausage and duck rice—those two dishes are must-tries! Service was excellent—the staff replaced plates, cleaned the table promptly, and were very polite throughout.
Went for dinner Thursday for dinner before heading to San Jose Improv. We arrived at 6 PM when there were plenty of seats and at 7:30 it was half full. The dishes we enjoyed most are beef tongues and pork with clams. Meats were tender and flavorful. Highly recommend. Enjoyable but with flaws dishes included filet mignon salad-vegetable fresh and seasoned right but meat cut was off too tough to chew; cheese bread - not sure what cheese they used but definitely lacking the creamy texture; and blood sausage- a little salty and too little blood so it tastes like just another normal sausage. Lastly not recommended the francesinha sandwich. Coming at the end of the meal the sandwich is very heavy with a lot of greasy sauce. If you just come for one dish this might do, fried egg ham and steak simmering in tasty sauce. The steak in the middle again I think is too tough. Overall I would say avoid their steaks. We would love to come back to try their seafood tapas and duck rice another time as people praised them highly online.
We went to Petiscos "Downtown" in San Jose for dinner with four adults on a Sunday night. The place is pretty, the food is good, and the people working there are friendly. Everything was good, not amazing but not bad either, just okay. The best things we ate were the house salad and the beans and olives to start with. The meatballs and grilled shrimps were good too. The drinks we had were good too. It's a nice spot to eat, and I'd say it's about a 4 out of 5.

Rather disappointing. I’ve marked this as a place to visit as it has a Michelin Bib Gourmand. I ordered bread, prawns in a garlic sauce, and the flamed chouriço. The only one that was good is the chouriço which even the presentation was outstanding. The bread was dense and hard… it seemed stale. The garlic sauce had an overpowering acid taste… lemon? I didn’t order anything else due to disappointing bread and prawns. Not sure. I’m not sure I’d go back.
It’s good to try once, but prob won’t come back again. The flaming sausage has very unique presentation, but taste just like any other chorizo. Pig ear salad was surprisingly the best dish of the day- packed with flavor. Kale soup was quite bland, and the steak had a strong gamey taste. Scallop with curry crusting was also my favorite. Spinach in the octopus dish was the best part. Egg tart and duck rice didn’t taste as good/unique as it advertises. Overall we spent ~$180 for three people, quite disappointed for the quality.
I think it’s a Michelin star restaurant so maybe it’s just me because it was ok but I wasn’t overly impressed. The service was certainly stellar and the ambiance pleasing. Sort of Portuguese nouveau chic. The food wasn’t the level I assumed it’d be. Here’s what we had, perhaps you want to try the same or something different. Start with the Pão de Queijo. Delicious and puffy cheese bread. Based on the rest of the food, I had to eat a lot of these. The beef tongue in tomato sauce was the best dish IMO. Tender pieces of tongue in a tangy sauce. Nicky cooked to the right texture. Perhaps a little too lukewarm instead of hot. I can’t find it in my menu picture for some reason but the next best dish I think was paella. With mussels and clams. Or maybe it was risotto. It was sort of watery, so maybe… We also had some kind of rice dish with a sausage and a pork belly on top. This one was pretty good. At least it fills you up. But it really needs more meat. Pata Negra fries with fried egg on top was another good one. Very tasty and surprisingly a little spicy. Quite pricey at $34 though. Octopus is always good and theirs was no exception. Cooked just right so good texture and not rubbery. We had the oven roasted version. They also have a cold version. Sautéed veggies were solid. Nothing explicit to describe. Grilled sardines were very bony and not really my thing. Especially what you get for $33. Pigs eat salad was the most, um, interesting. Taste was ok but the texture was odd. Basically cartilage. The last thing was some kind of fried cheese (I think) with an egg on top. I really don’t have anything to say about that one. Overall, quite a price tag and overall not my thing. Most dishes are around $20 but climb to upper $30’s. But you may love it! I Terri’s to take photos of our dishes so you can see for yourself.
The atmosphere and service are nice. My favorite is duck rice, octopus and meat croquettes. The mocktail red sangria is pretty good. But a few dishes are too salty and lobster bisque has a very strong unpleasant taste. Beef tongue, clams and seafood rice are okay. I expect more for the price.
I came for my birthday dinner. I love the idea of Portuguese tapas, but the overall experience was very underwhelming. It didn't live up to the Michelin guide for me. Service was okay and food came out rather quickly. However, there was no silverware given with the dishes so we had to use our personal utensils to dish out food for everyone. Our sangria came out after we finishes 2-3 dishes. Normally drinks should come out first. On the sangria note, it is dang near impossible to pour without spilling it all over the table. It tasted watered down and not that flavorful anyways. We ordered an array of dishes. Starting with the cheese bread. This was pretty tasty. Not your regular pao de queijo. It was a lot more dense and had a more sharp cheese taste, like a pecorino or sharp cheddar. Super tasty, but super oily. The codfiah cake was bland and the presentation was terrible (see photo). It looked like two burnt longs on a tiny plate, no garnish or finish whatsoever. The clams were nice and plump, but sandy and the flavors were basic. The roasted octopus was probably my favorite dish - super tender and the flavors were popping. The octopus went great with the garlic spinach and potatoes. The filet mignon had a deep herty sauce and the meat was tender. Hot take, but the duck rice was a miss for me. Bland, greasy, barely any duck, and overly expensive for what it is. We also had the broa bread which was dry and crummy and the flamed chourico. The chourico was a show more than anything. I didn't think anything special of the sausage. Overall, underwhelming experience that did not meet expectations and we will not be returning. Also note that they have a cake cutting fee and living wage fee!

Went for dinner. The ambiance and service were great. For anyone wondering - it's not tapas style, and the dinner menu does not match the website menu. The cheese bread appetizer was warm, spongy, and savory. The fish (catch of the day) was tough and not good. Seafood rice is like a risotto not like a paella, I was a bit disappointed there were no crispy bits. The veggie side was very good, lots of flavor. Overall the food was decent but not worth the high price we paid. If I could do it again, the table next to us ordered the flaming pork sausage and the francesinha sandwich, and those looked and smelled delicious. Those seemed worth a try.
Surprised this one is on the bib gourmand list. Overpriced, small portions, nothing really special. Feel like I could make the food at home for a fraction of the cost. Filet mignon was overcooked chunked of beef in a simple pan sauce. It was quite chewy, and there wasn’t very much of it. Duck rice was kind of dry and mushy. The duck was good, but there wasn’t very much hardly any there. The flamed chorizo was more show than anything. The meat was pretty salty, and it had a dry, crumbly texture. Drinks were tasty but pretty weak. Egg tarts were good, but pretty typical of what you would find for way cheaper at a number of bakeries in the bay.
Food portion is smaller than I thought, but I think they taste good until I had the seafood rice. The main reason why I gave 2-star is that the mussels in seafood rice have a horrible smell and do not taste fresh. When I talked to our waiter, he apologized, but I think a better way would be offer us an exchange
UPDATE: We went recently and the Duck Rice went from $23 to $48! And now they don't serve single Pastel de Nata anymore...you have to buy them as a box set of 6 to take-away...disappointing... The food was delicious as well as the drinks! Service seemed a bit frazzled, but could be because there were two events going on.
Service was nice, we didn't have to ask for more water a bunch of times which is always a big plus for me. The place is clean and fairly cozy. Appetizers and entrees were decent but nothing amazing, and the soup was completely bland. All in all the food is just too pricey for what you get.
Went there on a Saturday night with reservation. It was completely packed and we had to wait to be seated. We were seated after a short wait. The server was very hospitable and friendly. He informed us that we could combine both the ala carte and the set menu instead of both of us having to stick with a particular menu. So we did a combination of 1 set menu and a few ala carte dishes. The bread that was served with olives, olive oil and butter on the side was very dense, almost having a density of a dense pound cake. Then we had the grilled shrimps which had unfortunately a mushy texture. Otherwise it is rather tasty. The flamed chouriço tasted nothing out of the ordinary but definitely had a visual appeal when brought to the table with the flame still burning. Next came the octopus which was also tasty but on the verge of tasting a slight mush as well. Then we were served the duck rice which had a piece of rather fat looking pork belly that I did not try to taste since it looked rather bland, although I usually do love pork belly. The rice was tasty but greasy and the duck meat tasted bland. Since I was still hungry with all the servings being kind of small, I decided to order the garlic shrimps which was raved about by other reviewers. I did enquire with the server before placing the order as I wanted to make sure it wasn’t going to taste mushy and it didn’t. He did ensure me that it shouldn’t and if it did, he would take it off the check/bill. Since the pastel de nata sounded really popular on the reviews, and I recalled that someone complained about it running out, I told the hostess to save 1 for me. I was glad I did not ask for more as it unfortunately did not taste like the Portuguese egg custard tart pastry that I was used to having. The custard part of the pastry had a consistency similar to a thick jam than that of a custard and the taste was way too sweet for me to savor the taste of the egg custard. I had enough Portuguese egg tarts pastry in my life to safely say this was my least favorite here. As for the chocolate mousse I can’t seem to quite put a finger to the taste, but again, the mousse did not have a light enough texture and the chocolate mousse tasted like it was made with a cheap diluted milk chocolate. Overall, I think the kitchen did not meet the mark on almost all the dishes in terms of the taste profile. I definitely think the food was overrated. I would actually consider it overpriced due to the quality of the ingredients and the quantity of each dish. The environment was very lively and bustling even without loud music…everyone was talking loudly in an enclosed space and the noise level was quite deafening. Towards the end of the night, you could see the tables that were vacated in the dinning area were left with dirty dishes which was quite a sight I had not seen in a restaurant before, especially since I could clearly see several staff congregating by the bar and chatting. I can see 2 out of the 4 were probably bartenders but can’t understand why the other 2 would stand around the adjacent bar area instead of trying to clear up the mess; almost like they were deliberately trying to avoid cleaning up the tables. I see only 3 other servers running around serving the customers in the entire big dinning room. This is a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant, but it definitely doesn’t live up to the standards. The only plus of this restaurant was both the server and the hostess who attended to us were very friendly and hospitable. Unfortunately I have to conclude that the food and restaurant are overrated based on this experience and I can’t recommend.

Service was decent but the waiter missed a few items we had ordered. Starter Clams were under-seasoned and portion was very small. Plate had like 10 clams. Seafood Rice was overpriced and again, under-seasoned. Consensus was that it needed more seafood, salt and pepper. Octopus was good, but it came with only two potatoes and a sample of spinach. Fries were great though. Overall, portions small, overpriced and most dishes were underseasoned

The place looks great but that's about where it ends in terms of complements. It seems like they want to charge fancy restaurant prices and portions while giving you casual restaurant quality. The pork croquettes are fairly salty so you need to douse them in the sauce to abate it. This actually made them pretty good. The portion for the octopus was non-existent considering, at time of this review, they charged $45 for an octopus tail and 5 baby potatoes. Even without considering the price, it's just alright. The serving size of the Francesinha was good but it's honestly so one-note and reminiscent of malt that it became boring to eat. Additionally, the egg was fairly overcooked even though I cut it immediately. Also, it's so hard to cut it with the knife they gave to you. Wish it came pre-sliced. And for the service, boy that mess was rough. They tried but they were both understaffed and also incentivized. Instead of a server for your table, you kind of got three people just walking around and you have to constantly flagged people down to get service. That's fine for a place that's like $15 a dish. Not $40.

Food was vey disappointing. The octopus was the only enjoyable food. The Pao cheese bread is actually better at Trader Joe's. The filet mignon was so tough that there were several pieces we couldn't chew or cut with a knife. The seafood rice was terrible. The rice was so overcooked that it was like porridge. There were a few clams but literally could not find one whole shrimp or one whole scallop in the entire dish. There were small chopped up pieces of some kind of seafood but it was so small we couldn't even tell what it was. Hard to believe this has a Michelin bib gourmand rating.
