Opinions de Pho Dao Restaurant San Jose
I love pho, period. And I craze for pho without msg! Very generous on the meat portion and stet stew it perfectly so the flavors go in the meat. I normally can’t even finish a bowl of noodles but these were heavenly. The broth was light but tasty, too. All the beef ones are the same price except for Kobe beef. They have plenty of seatings so it wasn’t too crowded during dinner time, which was great for me. There is an anniversary discount of 10% through the end of June. Cash only under $10.
The rare fillet mignon just melts! I've never had such tender beef in pho. I got phở tái chín (with rare beef + well-done brisket) and both the rare beef and brisket were very excellent, and they give you a generous amount of meat here. As much as I liked the meat, I can't get enough of their fresh noodles! Finally there's one place that serve real authentic pho noodles!!! Pho noodles are supposed to be slightly wide and thin, much thinner than the fresh pho noodles served in other restaurants. This is the first place in America that I've been to that serves authentic pho noodles, and I've been on the hunt for 7 years... Also, being from North of Vietnam, I really appreciate the vinegar - so few pho places here have it!
Authentic home style pho. Great broth but for those people who like boneless, skinless, fearless chicken this place is not for you. I loved it, quick service, and down-home atmosphere. The fresh spring rolls were very good and bursting with basil and then dip into the peanut sauce with some sriracha hot sauce. Oh, great iced coffee too!
The best pho restaurant in bay are! The soup is rich and smell so good. The oxtail was tender but not too soft. Most importantly, it is clean. Staff were wearing mask even though not required. In addition, it is quick. It only took ~3min to get the food ready after placing the order. Highly recommended.
Haven't been here in a long time, but I remember it being good. Clean restaurant, simple menu, reasonable prices, quick service, great pho. Ordered a small regular pho with rare filet mignon, well done brisket, and fresh noodles. Broth was savory, not too salty. Brisket was brisket, but the filet mignon was really good. So tender. One of the best. Noodles were great too. Not busy at all on a Sun night. Will try to chicken pho and bbh next time
Nice and convenient to have a restaurant opened early. I was very impressed with the size of the spring rolls! The egg rolls were fried perfectly with the perfect crunch! Support your local business!
I was in town on a friends trip and decided to eat here as it was the closest to our accommodation. The Pho here was incredibly delicious with the fresh noodles and Kobe beef! The broth was super flavorful, and the portions were perfect! Would love to come back the next time I'm in the Bay Area.
Since my favorite pho closer to our place is closed this is my new favorite pho place in California! The meat is so tender and good size, like all American restaurants. The broth is just amazing. Definitely recommended order the fresh noodle instead of the dry one. It is just amazing!
I love that they have fresh rice noodles here. The beef also tastes very fresh and tender.
Best pho I've ever had... Broth is light but extremely flavorful! They give you an option to pick fresh rice noodles or the dry one which is nice. The beef they use is always super tender even if it sits in the broth for a while. Pretty big portions depending on what size you get. It's also very affordable, you can get a bowl for less than $10
Been coming here now for a few years and it's one of our go to when we're craving pho. I love their signature pho with Kobe beef and fresh rice noodles. The broth is delicious, meat is tender and fresh rice noodles are a game changer! Service is quick and at times, it can get busy here. Food comes out pretty fast, too. You just pay at the counter when you're done. They accept cards but you get a discount if you use cash. Parking lot has plenty of spaces but during the weekends, it can get busy at time with grocery shoppers next door. If you're craving some pho or need it cause you're hungover, this is the place to get it!
Hand made noodles and solid both - can't get any better than that! The small portion is a perfect size.
Excellent broth, delicious shaking beef, and the vegetarian pho is the best we've had anywhere. This is our new go-to for a casual, light-ish dinner.
It was so delicious! I had the Kobe beef , small. And their soft drink was yummy too. So authentic and probably one of the best I had in a long time. The broth was soooo good. They’re also generous with the vegetables and lemon!
American wagyu pho is so good.

Yummy spring rolls with both shrimp and pork. Flavorful broth for the pho, chewy noodles, flavorful beef

They have the best Pho, they gave me lots of proteins. The noodle tastes great. I will drive 25mins to it just to order my favorite noodle there.
Seated in 10 seconds. The broth was a perfect balance of savory and light. Noodles are chewy and fresh. Meat was tender despite being cooked well. Bean sprouts were blanched so you get a nice easy crunch. Tables and floor were clean. No bugs.

In A Nutshell: -Living in the #1 (or #2 depending on the year) most populated Vietnamese-American community in the USA offers you a sea of pho choices. -Pho Dao is one of those choices, but they stick out primarily IMHO b/c of their great tasting broth. -You get an average size bowl full of the mouth-watering broth along w/ some choices cuts of meats & white rice noodles. -The veggies (basil, soybeans, etc..) are minimal. -The inside of the restaurant seems a little more hip w/ some nice interior design. Overall, this is a pho restaurant WORTH EATING AT among the sea of pho restaurants in the South Bay.
Went out with Co workers for lunch. Had a very good bowl of soup and hot tea. Not too many people there, food came within a decent time since it was kind of late in the day. Work swing shift so it was early evening.
Solid pho with good portions. They’re cheaper than a lot of other places around, and the quality and quantity is high. Service was very quick, and they pack takeout orders really well, a small thing but appreciated!
I needed to fill up my gas and found this restaurant was on my want to go list nearby, so I decided to give it a try! We were seated right away, and the server came to take our order immediately, very efficient! I ordered their small Pho Dac Biet, Pho Special, which came with rare filet mignon, flank, tendon, fat brisket, tripe, and beef balls, and a side of fresh greens. The broth flavor was nicely balanced, not too heavy. The portion was really generous, I left feeling really full!
First time eating here. It was actually very good. The broth was excellent. I had the Hammered Beef Pho with egg roles and an iced coffee. I would eat here again.
It's a pretty solid Vietnamese restaurant in the area with really good soup as well as good beef cube steak! Service is pretty solid as well. When we went there was not too many people almost near empty. The sauce on the steak was actually sweet and tangy but the salad was very generic and tomatoes felt flat... I do appreciate the soup that it comes with too which is sweet and not too heavy with MSG. The egg rolls while there's only three do fill you up.
I ordered the large Pho Kobe with fresh noodles and the beef was soft and almost buttery! The soup had a strong beef and umami flavor. Their large felt like a medium and wasn't very big at all. Their fresh noodles are wider than what you're used to in pho. I'm not sure if their fresh noodles are homemade, but I didn't like how they broke easily. They also cook their bean sprouts, so if you don't like that be sure to let them know when you're ordering. The atmosphere is very casual, with a hole in the wall vibe. The service was okay. The waitress seemed annoyed that we asked for a few extra minutes since we were still waiting on someone to arrive. Overall, a good pho place!
The pho here is pretty good. You get to choose fresh noodles with no extra charge. The bun bo hue is tasty and not as spicy compared to other Vietnamese restaurants. The fish sauce chicken wings were a bit overdone.

The broth was amazing, in both the chicken and vegetable pho however, my chicken was rubbery and my personal preference is no not have the skin and tendons still on the meat. Maybe I just came at a bad time, but the employees had very bad tableside manners with us and it almost seemed like they were not having a good day or something? I dunno, I think I'll stick to different locations for my pho

I used to go here weekly for lunch because their food was good and prices were fair but ever since covid, their food doesn't seem up to par and they've been charging extra fees like service fee and credit card fees. Check your receipts! Updated: The pho is still okay. Server was wearing flip flops🤔. Food came out fast👍. Outdoor dining is so so. Lots of homeless activity and even saw a drug deal go down while I was dining😳. The prices are much higher (which is understandable) but I am not okay about the additional "covid health" fee on my bill😡.
We ordered a small and large #2 combination and the portion size was decent. Good noodles to meat ratio however the reason for the low star was the soup broth. The broth had no pho broth taste and was more salty compared to other broth's I've had. It was difficult to enjoy the pho bowl because of the disappointing broth.
Really surprised of the high marks of this place. Unfortunately, I didn't have a good experience dining here. The pho was sub par especially with the broth being too dark, salty and bland if that's possible. I seriously doubt it's real Kobe beef as they claim but it was tender. Medium was $16, small was $14. Service was meh. Couple other customers were playing the football games on their phones out loud with complete disregard to others. Lots of homeless in the area, so don't leave anything in view in your car. There are separate men and women restrooms. Does accept credit cards.

Just like others I too am surprised of the high mark of high reviews. I didn't have a great experience. I decided to stop off here because I was in the area. There was only two other people eating in the restaurant unfortunately my soup was luke warm. Then while I was eating they were mopping around my table with this very strong cleaning solvent smell that just completely ruined my meal. I could literally taste the poison in my mouth. 3 days later and I'm still having issues with my stomach needless to say I'll never go back

LOL. "USA Kobe beef" aka ultra cheap chuck meat. Kobe beef is over $300/pound in Japan and has never been sold in the US. Here, they slap it on like Kobe cows were multiplying in their kitchen. I tend to stay away from places that need to advertise their pho like this, because usually it's bad enough they need to have false advertising to get customers. It's next to my house so i gave it a try. Sure enough, my pho had some of the worst beef i've ever tasted.
We had a group of 6 today and sugar cane drink was not fresh at all. It tasted like mold and told owner he ignored us. It was $7 each and lucky we ordered only 2. Bad management and don’t care about customers. We spent $146 😖😖lucky they got $10 tip from us 😖😖

It was my first time trying out pho and I was super excited for this experience and to expand my palette. I chose this place because I saw so many good reviews about this place. When I walked in I saw no one inside, not a single person was eating here. I should’ve taken this as a sign and left as soon as possible. I decided to give it a shot since I’m like “why not?”. I go up to the woman in the front and not a single smile or friendly gesture she just tells us to sit anywhere and goes back to the front. I ordered the number 7 and my husband ordered the special. The woman brings us our bowls and then brings us the herbs. The herbs did not look fresh at all!! Some parts were black. I see that the woman sits down a few tables behind us. She’s scrolling on her phone with the same gloves she used to hand us our food. I’m pretty sure she’s been using those gloves for a while and hasn’t switched it out which is pretty disgusting to me. Anyways, I wanted to love it but the customer service was awful, such a serious woman. The place was so quiet too! No music no tv on like others had mentioned. So disappointing! The food was alright. The meat tasted like cardboard. Some of the herbs were black I would not recommend.
