Our First time there .. it was Wonderful... !!!! We had such a Great time... Cool Place to hangout before an Event... the Food was OUTSTANDING... a Band was playing in the outdoor Bar area ... they were Excellent... we will definitely be making this another Spot to hangout at ... CHEERS and SEMPER FIDELIS...!!!!
Went with the jambalaya and it did not disappoint. Really flavorful, hearty, and a bigger portion than I expected. It had that comforting, homey feel but still packed plenty of spice and depth. The staff were incredibly friendly too — you can tell they care about making sure you’re having a good time. That kind of service always makes a difference. Parking wasn’t the easiest situation, which was probably the only small downside, but it didn’t take away from the overall experience. Once we were seated and eating, everything felt relaxed and enjoyable. It’s the kind of place where you leave satisfied and thinking, “Yeah, I’d come back here.” Definitely a solid find.
I was not a fan of Cajun food till I came here. The food was sooooo good! The service was very nice. Not too crowded. Good volume to have conversations. The outdoor area was nice and warm, even on Christmas week. Little pricey but very worth it.
The highlight of this spot is the energy and vibe with the live music between Wednesday to the weekend. It’s quite unlike any other place in that area. As far as the food - we’ve ordered the shrimp po boy, chicken sandwich, creole pasta (vegetarian), tofu burger and beignets over the couple visits. Portions are always generous (order accordingly), the bread used for the sandwiches is divine. They have a few hot drinks as well like a boozy hot cocoa. Highly recommend a visit!
Okay, so I checked out 317 Sharks Way in San Jose last night. It was pretty busy, a Friday, and the live music was a cool addition. I got the jambalaya – it was tasty, pretty generous portion too. The staff were really friendly. Parking was a bit of a hassle, but honestly, it was a solid, enjoyable spot. I'd go back!
Poor House Bistro is a really fun, easy spot for lunch or dinner. The live music is a great bonus... they always have someone amazing playing. It's absolutely our go-to spot before any Sharks game. We split a po-boy, an order of beignets and a pitcher of PBR pregame and we are good to go! We've come brought our kids and they enjoyed it too. Definitely a must try if you're anywhere near SAP Center (It's only like a 5 or 10 minute walk (safe) from the stadium). Highly recommend.
Very good tasty food. Big portions. The blackened chicken wings are delicious. The 3 dishes we choose were all great. Will come back when in San Jose again. Nice atmosphere.
Cool place, amazing service, free live music, good food but could use a bit more flavor. Some things were amazing, the crawfish pasta, corn bread, and fried shrimp were fantastic, but the shrimp gumbo needed a bit more flavor. The cocktails were great too!
Oh my goodness!!! This place is my new favorite local gem! The atmosphere alone is a reason worth going! I came here on a whim because I wanted to get a carryout. While standing there I had some help with what to chose from the menu and got invited to join a lovely table of amazing people including Jay the owner. Amazing human beings here and I wish I lived locally to come here more! The music is a great experience and the food is soo good! Highly recommend the crawfish pasta and jambalaya. I got to learn the history of this restaurant which was so fascinating. Definitely stop by for a good time!
The SHRIMP AND GRITS!!!! What a perfect dish!! Literally... Made to perfection!! Creamy, cheesy deliciousness topped with fresh, plump, meaty shrimp. It was so good that I did a little happy dance after I finished eating!! This dish is hard to find in San Jose and I'm so glad that not only do they make it, but they do it fantastically!!!
Had dinner here on a Friday night and there was a live band! Seating was easy to find, the staff was so friendly and the vibes were great. We tried the jambalaya and the fried shrimp. Both were pretty good! The food came out quickly. Overall a great experience and I’d definitely visit again.
Their food is delish! Love sitting outside and they have an outdoor bar. Lots of shady spots and fun for a large group. Our group loved everything we ordered.

Good vibe, good people, great cooks, great bartenders. Plus live jazx/blues music. Real neighborhood joint you just want to come back too

Going to SAP Arena in San Jose? Be sure to stop here, about a 5 minute walk (1/4 MU), for stellar blues music and tasty southern comfort food.

Been meaning to come here for a while and finally managed to today. All in all it was a decent experience. Had a bunch of stuff and their gumbo was their stand out item personally. The fish was ok but had a few pieces that were a bit too fishy. Rest of it was fine but nothing spectacular, still at their pricing I'd visit again and try something else on their menu.
I’m no expert on New Orleans and Cajun food but I like the food here! I personally had The Poor House which comes with ham and roast beef. Great of you like a ’meaty’ sandwich. Be prepared this thing will fall apart all over you. But messy be good too! I shared some of the crawfish pasta with someone. Creamy and yummy. AMA this is the best way to eat crawfish cuz otherwise they’re too hard to peel! Shrimp po boy was good but I prefer grilled instead of this mattered and deep fried way. And the fries were hella top salty. They actually got my order wings which I didn’t realize till the food was ready after 15 minutes. So I had to order again! But they made it the next priority so I’ll give them service points for that. Had a few drinks… vodka shots and wine. I know weird combination right? About $10 bucks each. And I enjoyed their live band. Cool courtyard and festive atmosphere. In fact, a few folks dancing. Mostly older folks here. I’ll come back on the right occasion.
I've wanted to visit PHB for a while and got the opportunity tonight. It was worth the wait. We went early at 4pm and there wasn't a crowd. We ordered the combo with jambalaya, gumbo and red beans and rice. Great way to sample. Our kids shared the drippin sandwich and said it was melting in their mouths. We started with popcorn shrimp and finished with beignets. The staff is super friendly and the atmosphere is quaint and cozy.

This restaurant has had three different locations and is now situated in Little Italy. My only complaint is the lack of parking near the restaurant. \n\nI especially love the crawfish étouffée.

I recently had the opportunity to try your restaurant's offerings, and while some dishes like the jambalaya and crawfish pasta were passable, they lacked the robust Cajun flavors that truly make Creole cuisine shine. On the other hand, the veggie burger was quite disappointing, with a dry and tasteless profile that left much to be desired.Cajun seasoned fries were the best and will try again. As a suggestion for improvement, I believe enhancing the seasoning and flavors in your dishes, particularly by incorporating more authentic Cajun spices and techniques, could greatly elevate the dining experience. Additionally, ensuring that vegetarian options like the veggie burger are well-prepared and flavorful would cater to a wider range of palates. Overall, I see great potential in your menu, and with some adjustments to better reflect the vibrant and flavorful aspects of Creole cuisine, I believe you could truly stand out in the culinary scene.

This restaurant was recommended and has a fun outdoor atmosphere. The band was great, but the food and drinks were a huge disappointment. I discovered we were over charged and when calling the phone number on the receipt there is no one available to take a call during business hours. Beware!
