My colleague and I came to Straits for dinner at the end of our business trip day. We ordered Hainan chicken and beef rendang. We sat outside near the street, watching the fancy cars go by while enjoying the food, both of which were delicious. The only thing missing in this restaurant was coffee. But not a big problem as Cocola next door served excellent coffee and ice cream. We left Santana Row two happy men 😃

High quality food and service. The price tag matches the quality (about $20-$25 for a main dish). Also the atmosphere is very nice.

Loved sitting outside and watching the shoppers go by as I enjoyed my tasty spicy dragon prawns ! The waiter had great recommendations and was very attentive. Will go back!

I have been coming here for over a decade, but realize I’ve never left a review. I can say this is one of my favorite restaurants in Santana Row and probably in San Jose. Tonight the staff were just over the top great. Sean was our waiter and he was very attentive. Kim the manager, was awesome and hooked us up with some shots and also checked on us numerous times. Great food, great drinks, great atmosphere and great staff, this sums up my experience tonight and over the past decade; and is why this has always been one of my go to favorite spots.

We went on Friday for girls night out. We had an amazing night. Food was good, ambience was nice with good selection of music. Our server Jordon was amazing, he was engaging & funny, his suggestion for dessert was on point. We had Pandan Mango Cake & Lava Cake💖 Definitely good place to hang out with friends, have drinks at the bar & chill by their lounge side.

5 stars all around! Love the vibe of the place and the service. The food is absolutely delicious if you love spicy food.

Had a wonderful late lunch with my aunt there today. I have been here once before and both times was happy with my choices. This is the shrimp and Fuji apple salad, the salad was crunchy and the dressing wasn’t too heavy handed. My aunt got the poke bowl and while it was simple it looked tasty. Service was prompt and food was too. Will be back for sure!

I don't know why this place has below 4 stars. I went there with friends and absolutely loved the food we ordered. The chicken satay , garlic noodles and traditional chicken with broth were mind blowing! The ambience was quiet and nice. Good for office lunches. Would definitely love to go again.

My favorite restaurant when I come to Santana Row. The only problem is super long wait if coming during the weekend. Highly recommend Chicken Lollipops, Shrimp Scampi, Deep Fried Brussel Spouts. Excellent service.

The brunch was some of the best I've ever had. The Chicken Tikka Masala Chilaquiles and the soft shell crab and grits were different that anything I've had, and both dishes were phenomenal. They also had $15 mimosas and bloody mary's. Only basing this rating off their brunch as it's been too long since I've had anything else there.

B

Had the cauliflower, roti, garlic noodles w/chicken and the shrimp. You need to use your phone for the menu so make sure your phones are charged! Cauliflower was very flavorful, seasoned, and crispy. Roti came with two pieces so buy more if you want to serve more than 2 people. Garlic noodles were very flavorful and smelling really good. Garlic, pepper, soft noodles. Would get this again!

Excellent dinner spot with great vibes and good service. Food and drinks were delicious although it did take a bit longer than usual for food to come out to the table. Singaporean Manhattan (drink) tasted fantastic, and the starters of the roti parotta and spring rolls were good too. The Pad Thai was kind of standard, but the creme brulee was done well.

Love this place. The food is really good and the drinks are awesome. Our waiter, Adrian, was amazing and super fast and helpful. The garlic noodles with chicken were my favorite. Usually, I'm not a fan of brussel sprouts but the way they prepared it, it's just perfect. It was sweet and tangy and soft. The calamari was also really soft and so yum with their white sauce.

Was pleasantly surprised at how great this place was! We had the sashimi, roti, and garlic noodles with shrimp. Everything we had was top notch quality and delicious. Fantastic menu and the server had excellent recommendations. Will definitely come back! (Garlic noodles not pictured because we ate them too fast!)

Great service. Staff was friendly and attentive. Drinks are fairly poured and well mixed. They also have a nice selection of high end wines and champagne. With regard to the food I highly recommend the sashimi. It is fresh and delicious. Hubs had butter chicken with coconut rice. It was also really good. The menu has a little something for everyone. Asian, Indian, seafood and soups and salads. The restaurant was pretty busy but if you don't mind sitting and eating at the bar, that's the way to go. Highly recommend!

Here’s everything we ordered when we came to this restaurant for a birthday celebration!! Appetizers - Roti Prata - Crispy Cauliflower - Straits Frites Main Course - Spicy Basil Chicken - Garlic Noodles - Dry Fried Eggplant Dessert - Pandan Mango Cake If you visit, you MUST get the garlic noodles and dry fried eggplant! It is packed with flavor and has the right balance of sweet and savory. The shiitake mushrooms in the noodles are by far the best I’ve eaten. The chef said he prepares the mushrooms with the other vegetables to incorporate the flavor 😍 The pandan mango cake was perfect way to end the meal. The sweet cake is topped with mango mousse and whipped cream. The curry for spicy basil chicken was delicious, but I found the chicken to be super chewy. I loved this place for the ambience. I’ll definitely come back for more celebrations!

Update: 5 stars Pros: Spacious and pleasant indoor and outdoor, nice and attentive staff, great presentation of food, delicious food Great customer service: my daughter's salmon was raw inside. The manager came to the table, took the plate to show to the kitchen. They took the food out of the bill. Cons: the server didn't care enough to light up the birthday match after wind blew it, and just left. We had to call him again and he looked unhappy having to light it up again. 2 stars high prices for small portions, low quality food; crispy calamari was spicy. butter chicken did not taste like butter chicken at all. Service was awful; not available for questions and orders, long wait time after ordering food, not knowing English very well

A wonderful Sunday brunch with girlfriends today! Superb service from Shannon who attended to all our needs, she's just natural and warm personality. Food are great - crispy calamari, garlic noodles, prawn salad, and esp. the chicken satay!!! Love it all, will be back!!!

We were at this place a couple of times, only on weekends night. Great atmosphere in the lounge area, good music, excellent alcoholic drinks, excellent service. There were two of us and we sat in the lounge area and ate something from their menu. I recommend this place if you want to spend some time enjoying good music, having some appetizers and drinking good drinks. 🥂🍾

F
Fred Twum-Acheampong

It was almost as though the food arrived within seconds of the waitress taking the order! We ordered four appetizers over two rounds; they both arrived hot and fresh very quickly. The size of each appetizer was substantial, so I was surprised to see that the shrimp entree was relatively modest sized. There's good music in the background and a nice selection of cocktails. Great place for a quick bite with lots of variety!

First time in Santana Row. They have many restaurants to choose from but decided on Strait. Really nice atmosphere, friendly service, delicious cocktails and good food. We decided to sample a variety of their appetizers and a salad. I highly recommend their watermelon steak salad, lollipop chicken wings and Roti Prata, Indian flatbread. The dishes were delicious. We also ordered their chicken satay but didn’t care for them. I didn’t like the after taste. I couldn’t put my finger on the lingering spice I tasted. The only odd thing I observed, the hostess attire. Why are their dresses so short and tight?? I hope it’s their choice and not imposed. In my opinion it’s not suitable attire for a restaurant at 3pm in the afternoon.

K
Kapil Rastogi

Absolutely love chicken lollipop- can’t have enough of it. Crispy cauliflower is also pretty good - ask with hot sauce. Garlic noodle with chicken or just veggie, and double the whole order. Now that’s a nice dinner! Eggplant and corn fritters are okay, pass on Phad Thai chicken. Hainan chicken — not something for us. Note to self — don’t eat Hainan chicken. It’s not meant for you

Stopped by here for a quick small bite and drinks. Vibes were fun inside. Felt like I was in Miami. We went with the espresso martini and a lychee martini. The espresso martini used the local Vietnamese iced coffee brand for their base. Sweet and tasty. Lychee martini was really strong so it got the buzz going. For food, we got the Kaya toast. Didn’t expect it to be green, but it still tasted really good!

Just got back from Straits on Santana Row – interesting place! It definitely has a club-like vibe, especially later in the evening. Happy hour was a mixed bag; we almost missed it completely because they kept trying to move us. Luis, our waiter, was a lifesaver – really helpful and accommodating. The chicken lollipops were incredible, huge portions too. But Maryam was right, the ribeye was totally bland, and that was a huge letdown considering the price. Parking was okay, but it got pretty crowded. Honestly, the atmosphere felt a little chaotic. I’d stick to the appetizers and cocktails – maybe ask for extra spice!

Straits is a Singaporean, Asian fusion gem on Santana Row. The staff is very knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive, something that lacks in many restaurants these days. While the restaurant has a large inside and bar area (club-like, so just keep that in mind), I highly recommend the outside seating when the weather is nice out (don’t worry they have heaters). Their happy hour is AMAZING, so jump in on SEVEN DAYS A WEEK (unheard of!). Not only are the prices fantastic, but they have a large range of drinks and food that are included. They don’t skimp on the portion size either. Now the food and drink recs!: - Lemongrass highball: even if you’re not a bourbon lover, it’s well-balanced and packs a punch - Crispy chicken “lollipops”: large, perfectly fried and the honey chili sauce…chef’s kiss - Spicy street noodles: sizable shrimp and tofu, awesome flavor and spice, I wish I wasn’t slipping this dish - Beef rendang: the braised beef had some good flavor, but parts of it were super tough and dry. Winning part of the dish was the coconut curry polenta at the bottom. It was a fantastic flavor and texture to add to the dish. Great meal and experience. Can’t wait to come back and try all of the other happy hour dishes!

If I could give more than 5 stars, I would! Straits on Santana Row truly delivers a Michelin-quality experience from start to finish. The food, the service, and the atmosphere are all exceptional. We were warmly welcomed by the manager, Kim, who is not only hilarious but clearly passionate about the menu. She shared how much thought and care goes into each dish — including trying 20 different versions of the egg coffee dip to make sure it matched the original in Vietnam. That level of dedication really shows. Our servers, Enrique and Megan, were attentive and friendly throughout the meal, checking in often and making sure we had everything we needed. As for the food — every dish blew us away. The black pepper garlic rib eye was my favorite: incredibly tender, packed with umami, and paired with rice and corn that soaked up every drop of the flavorful glaze. I would honestly order it again just for the rice. We also tried the garlic noodles with shrimp (hands down the best garlic noodles I’ve ever had), the rich and comforting laksa, and the banana leaf salmon with mango salad — all equally impressive. Don’t skip dessert! The lychee panna cotta and mango kulfi float were both light, refreshing, and perfect for a summer day. To top it all off, Straits is very dog-friendly. We sat on the shaded patio with our little Maltese and they treated him like a VIP — bringing out water, a puppacino, and even unseasoned chicken just for him. We will absolutely be coming back — and bringing all our friends. Straits is a gem!

Absolutely loved my experience at The Straits Santana Row! Happy hour on a Monday life couldn't get any better. The happy hour drinks were refreshing and food were delightful. The fusion of Asian and American dishes was a unique and delicious touch. Overall, a fantastic spot for a weekday unwind! Love the fish and shrimp dishes

I came to Straits for happy hour and was pleasantly surprised by how great the experience was! Straits has one of the better happy hour deals around, good prices, generous portions, and great flavors. Also, Huge shoutout to Cin, guided me to have such a great experience. Her food recommendations were absolutely on point. The Chicken Lollipop was so good with the perfect combination of sweet and spicy, absolutely delicious and cooked just right. The Taiwanese Chicken Wings were crispy, juicy, and full of flavor, I honestly hard to stop eating them. The Satay Chicken was also solid , tender, juicy and full of that classic grilled taste. I tried the Mango Tequila Sprite and loved it. light, fruity, and refreshing without being too sweet. Great drink to pair with the bold flavors of the food. Their happy hour menu is such a good deal, and the service was fast and friendly. Straits has a great energy, casual, fun, and really relaxing after a long day of work

Absolutely in love with this place. Beautiful ambience , great variety of food and service. We did order pas thai, paratha, samosas as starters and that did not disappoint. For main course the veg curry was amazing and so was the chilli garlic noodles. All in all great place to have a team dinner or lunch.

One of the favorite hang out places in the Bay area. Delicious food, great service, perfectly made cocktails and the vibes are just few words to describe Straits. You can choose chicken, steak or seafood without worry, you will never go wrong. Try as many dishes as possible but if you become a regular, post your feedback here and let me know what's new.

The experience here has been excellent! The staff have managed to attain very high standards of hospitality. Each dish was an experience in itself. The spicy dragon prawns was wonderfully prepared, and so was the soft shell crab cake. The satay sticks with their seasoning and spices were so succulent! The environment was very relaxing as well.

The foods are okay but over seasoned, and the quality of the same cocktail is inconsistent. The vibe is good.

Great place, good vibes nice music with delicious Asian fusion food! We went there for dinner in a large group and the service was amazing! Super fast. Food is good - we ordered roasted cauliflowers, veg fried rice, corn fritters - 4/5. Roti prata was average Brussels sprouts, crispy calamari and garlic noodles we the best! Watermelon mojito and Sangria were good too! It’s a little bit on the expensive side, but overall worth a try!

Decent Happy Hour menu for light dinner. We liked the Tuna Tartare, oysters, soya tofu. Would skip the Belly Pork Sliders as the meat was dry in Hawaiian King Buns. Limited drink options. Would go again to have light food and drinks with besties !

Nice place to grab a drink or dinner at Santana Row. Has a gluten free menu with many choices and the staff is aware of allergies. Can be pretty loud on weekends and also very busy.

Having lived in Singapore a while, I was really looking forward to this. I can’t say I was disappointed but I wasn’t wowed too. Maybe my expectation was too high. I asked our server if the Laksa would be a proper Laksa and he guaranteed me it would be...he was wrong. But then I thought maybe he hadn’t had a Laksa in Singapore. Maybe my my past experiences were lost when I left Asian years ago. We ordered a few dishes and the food was great (just not what you would have in Asian). The drinks were a little pricey but then you are on Santana Row. I suggest you eat here as you it will give you glimpses of Asian cuisine but if you want the real thing, you will have to go to Asian (or my country...Australia)!! Thanks for trying guys!!

I recommend everyone sitting on the terrace seats outside if you want to enjoy your food because you can eat with a nice view. on the other hand, inside is almost a club.

My friend and I didn't have a reservation, but we were seated right away when we got there. The place wasn't as busy. We ordered crispy calamari, thai iced tea, garlic noodles with beef, and beef randang. Thai iced tea was good, but it came in a small glass that was 3/4th full of ice, so it was a waste of money. I had to finish it fast so it didn't get watered down. Calamari was okay. Some bits were crispy, and some others were soggy. The two sauces that it came with were pretty good. White sauce was a bit creamy, and the red one packed some heat. Beef randang was pretty good. It doesn't come with rice, so I had to order that separately. Beef randang had more meat than the curry. I wish it had a little bit more curry. One complaint I have is regarding the order in which our food arrived. My friend got her entrée before me. I didn't want her entrée to get cold, so I told her to start before me. Then we got our calamari appetizer. By the time my entrée came out, my friend was already done with her meal. The restaurant itself is sort of split into 2 sections- bar/lounge area and dining area. They also have a small space for private dining/events.

I came here to watch the Super Bowl and get drinks but didn’t expect the food to be so good! I got the Braised Kurobuta pork and it was absolutely delicious. Although the portion looks small, it ended up being super filling. The vibe here was great while watching the game and drinks were on par as well.

Pros: - Food was great, decent portions for the price - ambiance is awesome, feels like sitting right on Santana Row. Cons: - terribly understaffed - orders weren't just right. We asked for no straws in our drinks, and we got straws. We asked for extra spicy entrees and they were mild. We went on July 3, and they had two main hostesses that were taking orders on our half of the restaurant. It took forever for us to get our checks and that really soured our mood, but those hostesses were doing all they could. The orders being off is probably a result of how understaffed they were. The dishes were great though, and the drinks were interesting. Also, 6 people ate, along with drinks for $200 before tip (we shared dishes), which I think is a good price, especially considering it's on Santana Row.

Very nice sport bar and had lots of fun . Ambience is good and decor . Visited in Friday night in Covid days but there is no Covid inside 😄.People are enjoying their parties . Lots of big groups parties and that will make family dinner service slow but later our server told us sorry and took care things . But ya don't go in if you see big groups. You need advance booking . We were lucky to get table while in wait list . Food is also good . They have separate vegetarian menu. Little expensive but good .

Great atmosphere, high-end decor and huge bar. I mostly recommend happy hour cos their normal pricing is not for everyone. Happy hour is excellent, the food tastes great and very affordable. Portion is good and price is right. For this restaurant at this location it's really really good. However I also checked out their normal hour pricing, it's certainly high-end. I only recommend it for parties or a fancy date. I'll be back and try the normal menu and update, it might tastes fantastic and be worth the price.

The chicken in my laksa was pretty dry. My friend got Hainanese chicken and some of it was pretty dry too. Everything else was very good. The soup and the noodles in the laksa were good. And the roti prata was good!

Had 5 selections: (ground) beef murtabak, Fuji apple/prawn salad, (yellow) curried vegetables, garlic noodles + chicken & spicy basil chicken. All were well prepared; the garlic noodle & Fuhi apple/prawn salad really stood out. Straits features intense flavors coupled with hot pepper, curry or other spice variations. While the intensity of the flavors shock - and satisfy - the palate, I think the degree of sweetness in some of their dishes can overpower. As an occasional treat, this can present a "different" experience. Order extra rice bc you very likely will need it. We found the spicy basil chicken to be, well, spicy enough to require another order of rice, for example. Service is attentive, but seated outdoors, you may need to get out of your chair (and walk inside) to catch the eye of your waiter.

Straits Restaurant in Santana Row is a great find! They offer delicious and authentic Singaporean and Malaysian cuisine. I recently tried their lunch special seafood green curry - it was fantastic! Paired with their Thai iced tea, it was the perfect complete meal 😊.

I came here to Straits Restaurant for the first time and actually enjoyed it here! My friend wanted us to meet her here for her birthday celebration. Definitely one of the most beautiful restaurants in Santana Row location! Plenty of seatings, full bar options with lots of Cocktails, and the food is flavorful and delicious! Our orders includes: Chicken Lollipops, Garlic Noodles, Coconut Shrimps Fried Rice, Hainan Chicken Rice, Crispy Calamari, Crispy Cauliflower, Tuna Tar Tar, Spicy Street Noodles, and my favorite was the Combination Pad Thai which I ordered and absolutely enjoyed!😋 The Combination Pad Thai came with Beef, Chicken, Prawns, and Tofu! Yum!😆 Overall I like the Awesome Ambiance and Atmospheres. Definitely would love to come back here again! Great Food and Nice Restaurant!

We enjoyed the Singaporean style food and cocktails. The atmosphere is vibrant and nice but the acoustics makes it hard to talk. The service is friendly and attentive but a little more attention is needed to bring drinks, appetizers and entrees in the right order (this might be a one time occurrence due to the being busy). We recommend the restaurant and we will visit it again when we are in the area.

C
Catherine Cosse

The food was delicious, ordered about 6 dishes total, great atmosphere, a bit loud so not so easy to talk really, but I guess that was okay. The place was packed on a Friday night. The service was really friendly and attentive. Hands down on the food and service, however I had a hurricane, and I don't think there was much rum in there...I ordered another one, great fruity punch but , this is not what I call a cocktail. I will definitely go there again for food but will NEVER order another cocktail there, total rip off or the bartender has no idea what they are doing. I even mentioned it to the waitress when I ordered the second one...If I ordered a hurricane or any cocktail, I am not asking for a virgin one, unless I ask for one ;-)

N
Nandita V

I liked the fusion food, it tasted quite different from what I've tried. Also loved their purple cocktail. The atmosphere is more club like- too loud for my liking. It also took us a while to get our tables despite having a reservation. Overall the experience with the food was good.

H

Food is good. The waiter was very friendly and took good care of us. One thing I don't like though is the loud music. For the price, I would expect a nice restaurant where we could chat with ease. Instead, we had to raise the voice a bit.

K

This is a great spot for a weekend dinner, featuring a dimly lit atmosphere and lively party music. We ordered chicken lollipop and pad thai with chicken, both of which were quite satisfying. The prices are reasonable considering the ambiance and attentive service they provide.

Superb place for hang out! Read full review! 1. Ambience: Sport bar vibe with great decor overall. Music is extremely loud and inside seating is pretty noisy. Good for large groups of friends 2. Food: Bomb pork ribs!! Chicken is lovely too. Food is 10/10 overall. Drinks are nice. Service is quick (10-15mins after ordering) 3. Outdoor seating maybe less noisy and heaters are provided.

Impressed with the taste of the food and also price. I thought food will be very pricey, because of location, but I was wrong. We liked the Roti parata and Garlic Noodles. Vegetable curry was pretty good too. I am not a great fan of brown rice, but brown fried rice was very tasty as well. Good place to visit if you are visiting Santana row!

Visiting from Quebec - this place was packed for the Superbowl. We had supper on the terrace as there was no room inside. The food was good, and service impeccable. The wait was a bit long but at the end, the restaurant offered to pay for the late plates. It was nice of them. We had a good time, thank you!

Celebrated birthday at Straits recently. Food is decent but mistakes made in preparing for the reserved birthday party. First hostess brought us to wrong table, the birthday appetizers printout had the year incorrect. They corrected the error before the birthday girl showed up. Could have been better regarding the attention to details.

Service was ok. Not good not great nor terrible. Just ok. Food... Well 1 out of 4 dishes was mediocre. Ordered the BBQ chicken and well the chicken was flavorless and barely warm. The soup that comes with the chicken had good flavor but was cold. The rice and salad stole the show, simply amazing.

K

The atmosphere here is nice, quiet and modern. We got seated fast which was nice for a Saturday. Most of the food we ordered was tasty, some not as much .. the chicken satay and phad Thai was good but nothing great, the portion size was no bueno to say the least. Usually when you go to restaurants that serve family style the portions are alot bigger and would better reflect why your paying so much... but I guess that just comes with Santana Row.. The bar and lounge area looked nice to do drinks and appetizers but I don't think I'll be back here for lunch or dinner....

Came in during Super Bowl week with five people at the bar, unfortunately we weren't served. We also weren't acknowledged which was the biggest problem, at least let us know you're working to get over to us.

The food is average, the taste is average, the presentation is average. Service is good, very limited desert menu.

Amazing ambiance and vibes. Love the playlist and location in Santanna row. Terrible service at the bar however. Only 1 bartender for a very long bar. Bartender could only handle the table orders and not the bar patrons. Probably faster to get table service. This was a Tuesday evening.

Straits had nice decor and a huge bar but the food we had was somewhat lacking. The only item we chowed down on so fast we almost hurt ourselves because of how fresh off the kitchen and temperature hot it was was the roti prata. It was crispy and flaky on the outside but delectably soft on the inside. Dipping sauce was good but a tad salty. Now comes the not so good part. The char kuey teow was kinda overly moist. This dish should be ‘charred’ somewhat dry. It was a small serving in a small dish for $24. A little on the pricier side. The Hainanese chicken rice was mixed. My husband said my chicken rice was better. I really like the tenderness of the chicken. It was cooked t perfection. The biggest disappointment was the sauce that accompanied the dish. The chili sauce didn’t appear or taste home made and was severely lacking. The grated ginger was ok. The soy sauce tasted like it came straight out of a Kikkoman bottle and was thick and salty. It should have been diluted with the broth the chicken was cooked in and have a slight sweetness to it. Any spilled soy sauce on the rice and chicken turned those into salty bites and ruined it. Then came the curry laksa. It is definitely not Malaysian style curry laksa. It is more like Singaporean curry laksa. The noodles used were the type you normally use in Malaysian asam laksa. Overall, the flavor was good. Shrimps and chicken were nicely cooked and not overdone. In summary, the experience was a mixed bag leaning more on the not so satisfying side. I really wanted to like this place but unless they change the sauces on the Hainanese Chicken Rice, I will not be ordering that again. The roti and laksa were keepers. Char Kuey Teow not so much. Oh, I almost forgot about the dessert. I got the ube cheesecake. It was not sweet and completely mushy tasting nothing like a cheesecake. Presentation was beautiful though but what a disappointment.

The initial flavor was good but the food was way too salty. After the first couple of bites, my mouth started to numb a bit and I had to keep drinking water. The braised pork belly buns were tasty. Service was pleasant and our waitress was attentive, but don’t understand why all the waitresses dressed like they were going clubbing … it was Sunday brunch and some wore strapless tops. Is the restaurant encouraging this? Seems inappropriate for a restaurant setting.

Friendly server. Good ambience. However, the food portion is rather small. And as a Malaysian, I'd have higher expectations for the authenticity of the food. Some food are pretty authentic. Not all. Popia portion is REALLY small.

We went on a Saturday night for a group dinner and it was LIT! Santana row in general has become a great spot for upscale but lively dining and this place is no exception. Their Asian fusion menu is nice and has many options. The place feels chic and wait staff is stylish! Food on the other hand is a slight let down. Trust me, the nice ambience makes you forget that you can get tastier Asian food for less at most other places. Mi Goreng: 10/10 (flavorful and satisfying) Chicken Wings: 5/10 (crispy but flavorless) Chicken Satay: 7/10 (a bit on the dry side)

We were a group of 6 and the waitress couldn’t handle our requests. There was some confusion with food orders. We went with the chicken appetizers - chicken satay and wings, both were good. We ordered the bone marrow but couldn’t finish it as it wasn’t that great. We then ordered main course and the waitress brought one item after the other. We were finished and waiting for the next time before she could get the next one. For a group of 6 with one entree 🤦🏻‍♀️ - flat rice noodles( this was the best item) street noodles( not so great after tasting the flat noodles) and the egg fried rice ( which she got with shrimp). I told her that’s not what we ordered and she came looked at the item and said if you touched it I need to charge for it. ( this was too much. You screw the order and ask us to pay) I told her firstly it was ordered for a person who only eats egg and no other meats/ seafood. And because he put a spoon in his plate he saw the shrimp inside the rice. At the end she did not charge for it. The lava cake with ice-cream was good 😊 Over all not very good experience with the service though more than half the items we ordered were good. Don’t have other pics coz we were too hungry to click pics ( as one entree came after the other).

Asian fusion*something new style you can try... I would give this restaurant 3*/5. Loved the music and ambience..4*/5. Server 4*/5. But the taste of the food 3*/5. I love to try char siu sea bass* very much recommend by one of the customers.. unfortunately they run out of that one! So end up trying banana clay pot salmon! Not too good taste, it's tender but no flavor in the salmon! And the sauce on top was so spicy.. Which Doesn't help ..not recommended that one! As origami sea bass is little better in taste... and loved the Fuji apple salad...! Better get their free wifi connection before ordering via scanner. As network issue even with 5g..carrier Indoor dining.. as seems too pricy compared to taste..😭😱

Came here for drinks. It was the middle of the afternoon so there was barely anyone at the bar and yet we had to wait for a long time to get served. They put straws in their drinks (even glasses of water) which is an automatic loss of a star for me. Be environmentally conscious, it's not too much to ask. Overall experience was average, can't comment on the food because didn't eat here. Please stop with the straws!

This place can get very crowded in the evenings, even during weekdays. We sat outside which was quieter but it was at an awkward 2 seater table. The waiter took long to ask what we wanted to drink/appetizers, maybe more than 20 minutes. We ordered samosa, coconut shrimp fried rice and banana salmon. For some reason, the rice came out first and we had to wait for the salmon. By the time we got the salmon, the rice was cold. Both items are very delicious but not hot in heat to enjoy. Again, the waiter took a long time to attend to us. I definitely recommend going for the food but expect slow service. The price is very high. Will sparingly visit again.

Customer Service is fantastic here. That is the only thing saving this restaurant. Overall the food choices here are pretty average. Despite the presentation being very fancy, the food portions are small and there isn’t a huge variation in the taste. The food here is also a bit pricey.

We had an overall satisfying experience but they charged us too much on drinks - things that we didn't order, which I realized too late unfortunately. We had two waiters for our table who didn't seem to communicate quite well with each other about our orders. Other than that a great restaurant with good drinks!

This restaurant has always been an enigma to me. Been here several times, and I always walk away thinking the food is too sweet, and the attempt to be a restaurant and a night club really doesn’t work, as they are mediocre at both. Plenty of other options at Santana Row.

Straits is like a club vibe restaurant that I think feels more like a club atmosphere the later in the night you go. The women who work here are all beautiful, giving the club vibe. I came with three coworkers of mine, about 7 minutes before happy hour ended. We told the hostess we wanted happy hour so she sat us in the happy hour area. When we went to order, the waitress told us we had to sit in the happy hour area and moved us again to another table/area. As I was looking at a happy hour menu and about to order to the waiter, a lady came and took the menu out of my hands. She then went across the table to remove the menu from my friend's hands and thankfully they said something (unlike me bc l'm scared of confrontation in any form). The waitress who was taking the menus said this was not the area for happy hour and happy hour was over. It was 5:58 and happy hour ends at 6 so technically we still had time to put an order in. We told them how we already moved tables for happy hour and thankfully our waiter Luis saved the day as he was willing to accommodate our happy hour order. If it wasn't for him, we would have not gotten it bc the lady was dead set on making us move again and telling us happy hour was over. As a business you can either happily invite people to come in and quickly get a last happy hour bite or rudely make it difficult for people to squeeze in a happy hour order and I feel like Straits did the later. It was an unwelcoming vibe and the waitresses didn't seem to know where happy hour was taking place. Is the food good? Yes. The corn fritters and chicken lollipops are always my go tos. The fries are good w the dips and the garlic noodles were good. Happy hour vodka drink was decent too just a bit sweet. Overall, I don't know how to feel about this place. Luis saved the day so I'm thankful they have some caring employees, but I'm scared to go now and not have him bc it would've been a completely different experience.

Came here for a quick bite before exploring the rest of the area. Straits during the day is a very chill place to hang out and grab a couple of drinks. Their bar is pretty big and has a good selection of alcohol that could accommodate anyone's preference. The drinks were great and they do not skimp on the alcohol. The small bites we received were just alright, but if you're hungry when it turns into a club, they will hit the spot. The atmosphere here is cool and upbeat, and the service, while a bit slow, compliments the vibe they are trying to set. Overall, an alright place that's not too pricey for what you get.

I visited this restaurant for a team lunch, and it's located in a nice spot with pleasant decor. They offer a separate vegetarian menu with a wide range of options, from starters to main courses, featuring South Asian-style dishes. The corn fritters, spring rolls, and garlic fries were tasty, but the crispy cauliflower was missing the expected batter coating. The street-style noodles in the main course were a bit too sticky, though the veg fried rice was enjoyable. However, considering the price, the food didn't quite meet expectations. Service was slow and lacked efficiency, with only one person taking orders and serving. They also didn't take our main course order until we'd finished the starters. Overall, the experience was decent but not outstanding.

It was great the first two times and the 3rd time I guess I got a bad chef. Food portion was already small and now it’s ridiculously small. It’s $22 for a tasting size portion for some noodles. I’m sorry real nasi goreng does not come with carrots and peas. I’m fine some places want to sell basic fried rice but don’t charge $22 for nasi goreng and then serve grocery store type fried rice. Sadly I won’t be going back ever again.

The menu has typical Singaporean dishes but some are executed quite inauthentically. The pohpia was served freezing cold, obviously pre-prepared, in the wrong wrapper. The paratha was drenched in oil and too crisp. However, the laksa and char kway teow stood the test. Music was too loud, the restaurant would rather be a nightclub also judging by waitress attire so some marks are due for entertainment.

Four of us stopped by for dinner here in Feb 23rd and encounters miserably slow and disorganized service! We took a table outside but the table was so unstable that we had to stuff complete silverware bundle under the table leg to stabilize it! Our waiter said he would bring something to fix the table but he never did! The service was astonishing disorganized! After the chicken skewers appetizers we had to wait 20 minutes for the rest of the meal which came in 4 different shift! They served one guest w the main course but not the rice ! 15 minutes later I got my rice but not the chicken dish! Bar service was also horrific with long delays after placing the drink order! Now I know why we keep going back to Yard House where despite being busy; they at least bring the food out at the same time! The food is tasty here but the service makes the experience unpleasant.

Straights is a poor attempt at a high end Asian fusion experience that's actually just 'so-so'. Nestled in Santana Row, this spot tries hard to impress but somehow falls short of the mark. The ambiance is sleek and modern, but it lacks the wow factor you'd expect from a high-end establishment. They function as a bar and restaurant with a ridiculously priced menu for drinks and food. The restrooms are also absolute trash, outdated, and look more like filthy club toilets. The doors barely lock and you would be lucky to find toilet roll. Lets talk about the food. It’s simply just ‘ok’, doesn't quite live up to the hype. While some dishes shine with bold flavors and innovative combinations, others fall flat, leaving you craving something more. On the bright side, Straits does offer a happy hour with select items at better prices. So if you are looking for cheap food deals and small bites go at happy hour. Overall, Straits is NOT a must-visit destination.

We've been here before years back, and the food and drinks were really good back then. I was disappointed with the food quality, and portions as well. The $14 kaya toast was the first disappointment with a slab of butter just stuffed into a light pandan-coocnut jam smeared on plain bread. The second was the $24 mee goreng which was basically tomatoes sauteed with very little noodles. The Chicken lollipops were okay, and the drinks were decent.

The restaurant is in amazing location and service is really good but the food tasted stale and lacked flavors. We had ordered chicken satay (2/5) and shrimp fried rice (2/5). The drinks were good. Overall would recommend this place only for vibe.

My fav dish Hainan chicken rice has changed. Since when it has soy sauce on Chicken? Since when rice has became air dried? They must have been in the air for quite some time so the rice is dehydrated on the outside. I mean really? Chicken is so dry as well, slices to tiny thin slices…WHY??? The seasoning of the rice is nothing but salty🫠I feel embarrassed to recommend here to my friend. I referred here as one of my fav on the street and so she came a long way to get here, only ended up with a disastrous meal.

Starters are extremely overpriced and useless. We ordered samosa and felt tricked at what was served. It was the tiniest of the samosa I have seen in my life.

"I recently visited STRAITS RESTAURANT with a friend, a place that has always been a favorite of mine. Unfortunately, during our visit, we were unfairly banned by the security for an incident that never occurred. The manager's handling the situation was unprofessional and lacked proper investigation before making a decision. I felt discriminated against and unsafe due the false accusations made against me. The security personnel even went as far as calling my friend names and making obscene gestures towards me. This behavior was completely unacceptable and made me question my safety at the establishment and anywhere else . I have always been a loyal customer at STRAITS RESTAURANT , known by the bartenders, and this experience left me incredibly disappointed. I urge the owner to look into this matter, review the security footage, and address the discrimination and unprofessional behavior that took place during my visit. I have evidence, including video footage, to support my claims and prove my innocence in this situation. I hope that the owner takes immediate action to address this issue and ensure that all customers are treated with respect and fairness at Straits Restaurant.

I’ve been coming here for 5 years and always enjoyed the place, but the experience lately has gone downhill. Bartenders have started demanding tips upfront despite providing no service. Even after calling them multiple times, they don’t attend to you and then get offended when no tip is given. This behavior is getting out of hand. Please do better.

Service terrible: take wrong order and when we told them it's wrong, nobody come to follow up, just ignore us. Later they try to claim it's our fault and finally served the correct order at the time we almost finished all other dishes. No apologies; Food quality: extremely salty for the fish and chips, fish is not fresh, a little smelly; The soup serves as side dish with hainan chicken tasted nothing but salty. The rice from Hainan chicken is also very salty. I will never go again and never recommend to anyone.

I grew up in countries where Nasi lemak originated. The nasi lemak I ordered was unsatisfactory in every aspect. The Straits focuses so much on being unique, it's lost its way! Firstly, the rice is blue to make it look special (as in some Singapore desserts) but is not authentic for this dish. Worse, it lacks the fragrance that comes with good coconut milk! The sambal (chilli paste) it comes with doesn't have anchovies that can actually be tasted! The fried peanuts were not crispy and the "achar" (pickled vegetables) taste like they've been sitting in their pickle jar for ages. It's no longer fresh and crispy! And the accompanying piece of fried chicken taste like some leftover from KFC. It has no south east Asian flavor in it at all. Very sorry The Straits, but for $24, this is a really disappointing dish! Looks like I'll need to drive further to find another Singapore restaurant in the future! 😥

Very disappointing experience. I ordered the Black Peppered Garlic Rib Eye (Steak & Rice) and it was completely tasteless. The dish had no flavor at all, which was surprising for something described as peppered and garlicky. The rice mixed with corn tasted mostly like corn and didn’t complement the dish at all.For the price and expectations, this was really disappointing. I won’t be going back there again.
