It's still the best coffee shop in town, and the people who work there are great. I bought their cold brew beans and made it at home. 💚💚

My husband and I stopped here for sandwiches and coffee while we were in New Smyrna. The deli sandwiches were a HIT! The sandwiches were huge and packed full of stuff! I had a Aloha Turkey BLT and the mango chutney on it was to die for!

Rad spot! Super tasty coffee. Cold brew ice cubes keep your cold brew from watering down. Good vibe. And of course, it’s easy on-my-way-to-the-beach access makes it a must!

Great flavorful coffee, they have a wall display of all the coffees they roast, when you get there the aroma is incredible, they serve great different prepared beverages, they also sell local honey, and some organic goodies.

I enjoy their curry chicken salad on a toasted croissant. And all their coffees are on point. If you know how you like your coffee made they have the right ingredients.

First time in New Smyrna Beach~"Where's a great local coffee place?" I was told to visit here. My friend and I both enjoyed our lattes (chai and soy). Our baristas were friendly and helpful. Beans sold and roasted here~souvenirs and a deli, too! Sip sip hooray!

What a place, with fanatic coffee and good food Island Roasters does everything it needs to do and more. Let me tell you, I am quite the big coffee person, as many of others here probably are, so believe me when I tell you the coffee here is amazing! I am unsure as to what beans they use here but there are just delightful. Me personally I like to order the Mocha, it hits all the sweetness I’m looking for in a good mocha. To switch gears, I’ll talk about the food. While most of the food options to me or pretty good, I could see how some could just be considers okay. But i believe you get what you pay for with food. Most of the breakfast sandwiches are pretty cheap so it may make up for their lack of quality for some. But it’s what most people are expecting for a cafe. My only slight complaint is there isn’t a lot of seating inside, as most of the seating is located out doors. Which is nice, on a nice day, but when it’s too hot, I’ve just brought my food to my car 🤣. They have a food variety of items as well as some vegetation options. They are also pet friendly! So you can bring your furry friend with you to grab some coffe!

Great coffee! I’ve tried just about every NSB coffee shop this week and I think Island Roasters has been the best. I got an iced latte that was on special called the Honey Badger (honey vanilla cinnamon). Yeah, that was super good!! They give you coffee iced cubes too at no charge to avoid it getting watered down quickly. I didn’t try the food, but it looked delicious. They have fresh bagels and slice their own deli meat per the order. Highly recommend!

K

The chicken salad sandwiches are fantastic and worth the drive just for lunch. They are big enough to share or take half home for later. Every time I’m in town, I must stop here for one of their chicken salad sandwiches.

J

Tried it for the first time yesterday and had to go back today for more. They used ice cubes made out of coffee so my iced coffee didn’t get watered down. Best coffee shop in NSB.

Best coffee shop around. Great friendly and personable staff. Easy to become a regular here! The only thing I reccomend is offering local customer discounts or loyalty cards for regulars! Hands down best coffee shop around and great food from the deli!

They roast their own coffee and it shows—smooth, flavorful, and consistently excellent. The breakfast sandwiches are fantastic, hearty, and made fresh, making this an easy go-to for a great morning start. I enjoyed the avocado toast. The real charm is the scene outside: longtime locals (old farts) camped out with coffee in hand, swapping stories and generously offering parking advice to help you avoid a ticket. It’s part coffee shop, part community hub, and 100% New Smyrna Beach.

From a consumer-experience standpoint, my visit to Island Roasters Coffee Company was exemplary and fully consistent with the high standards expected of a specialty coffee establishment. Product Quality and Culinary Execution The coffee quality was outstanding, reflecting careful preparation and a well-balanced flavor profile rather than over-roasted bitterness or excessive sweetness. The standout beverage was the Honey Badger Latte, which demonstrated both technical proficiency and thoughtful flavor design. The integration of honey was nuanced and restrained, enhancing the espresso rather than masking it. This balance suggests deliberate calibration rather than formulaic preparation, a hallmark of skilled barista work. Equally impressive was the bakery offering. Both the muffins and croissant sandwiches exceeded expectations typically associated with café pastries. The Carrot and Cranberry Muffin, in particular, deserves special mention: moist without being dense, well-spiced, and balanced between sweetness and texture. It is clearly not an afterthought product, but one that reflects intentional sourcing or in-house quality control. The croissant sandwiches were fresh, properly constructed, and texturally sound—flaky without excessive greasiness, and filled generously yet proportionately. This reinforces the impression that food service at Island Roasters is treated as a core component of the experience, not merely an accessory to coffee sales. Service and Atmosphere Service quality was consistently excellent. Staff were attentive, courteous, and efficient without appearing rushed or transactional. Interactions felt genuinely welcoming rather than scripted, contributing to a relaxed yet professional environment. This level of service suggests strong internal culture and effective staff training—elements often invisible but critical to sustained customer satisfaction. The overall atmosphere supported the experience well: comfortable, inviting, and conducive both to brief visits and longer stays. Nothing felt overstimulating or neglected; instead, the space reinforced the identity of the establishment as a community-oriented specialty café. Critical Appraisal From a critical perspective, what distinguishes this experience is not merely that “everything was good,” but that multiple components—coffee, food, and service—performed at a consistently high level simultaneously. Many cafés excel in one dimension and underperform in others. Island Roasters did not exhibit this imbalance. Importantly, the experience felt intentional rather than accidental. Product quality, menu curation, and service alignment point to thoughtful management rather than reliance on novelty or trend. This is particularly relevant in a specialty coffee market where branding often outpaces substance; here, substance clearly leads. Recommendation Based on my experience, I would confidently recommend Island Roasters Coffee Company, with specific endorsement of: the Honey Badger Latte, and the Carrot and Cranberry Muffin, as exemplary representations of the establishment’s strengths. In sum, my visit confirmed that Island Roasters is not only well-reviewed but well-executed, delivering a cohesive, high-quality experience that meets—and in several respects exceeds—the expectations of a discerning customer.

We were driving through town and as we passed we smelled the delicious scent of fresh made coffee beans. We had to stop and check it out. What a cute and quaint coffee place. I loved the artwork outside and the welcoming ambiance inside. What a fantastic place! The coffee was just as delicious as it smelled. The employees were so sweet, kind, and attentive. The owner happened to be there attending his fresh batch. What a nice man. Do your self a favor and stop in. We bought a bag of fresh coffee beans and plain black coffee. Nothing plain about it other than tasty and perfect. Enjoy!☕ If my review helped you in any way please like👍 and follow for more adventures! Thank you!😊

What a busy place! Loved by the locals apparently as there was a line right out the door when I turned up at 9am on a Saturday morning. The place was recommended to me by son who lives in NSB as his girlfriend loves it when she’s in town. My only gripe is that you have to order separately if you’re having coffee and food which are both very good.

Love the Honey Badger Latte here- cinnamon & honey flavor is delicious. And they gave a lil bagel/deli stand inside at another counter!! Roasts beans right in this shop, local Yaupon Teas & honey too!! Even have chocolate covered coffee beans- a 90’s staple in coffee shops back in the day… love this place!! Lots of outdoor seating, mostly covered- inside seating is difficult to find as there’s just a couple spots to sit w a few table & two club type chairs.

Just passing through so I won't get to enjoy this place as much as I'd like! My mocha was perfectly balanced, not sickly sweet like so many places. Love the variety of coffees, and while the seating area is quite small, it's relaxing and has several tables outside as well.

I had been searching for a place to buy whole coffee beans and they were the only one that had a verity to choose from. It is such a inviting atmosphere. The staff were so sweet and helpful . I ended up getting 3 different ones, very reasonable price. I also got a Carmel latte and it was the best I have ever had. Then this morning I used the coffee beans i got in my expresso machine and I have never found any so fresh and full flavored no bitterness at all top notch.😍🤩

I’ve been going to Island Roasters since its inception. Always good coffee, friendly staff that go above and beyond with service and always a warm greeting. Great atmosphere for meeting friends and very dog friendly. The sandwich deli is a must try. Same level of excellence and service.

Coffee was good. I had the honey badger latte (iced). Made with local honey. Not a huge fan of the coffee ice cubes. I'm too impatient for them to melt. Would be better if the ice cubes were smaller (like pellet ice).

Everyone that has served me here has been super nice, they're very friendly and good at making you feel welcome. That being said, I came in during slower hours and found myself waiting at the counter a little longer than I'd like. It was no big deal, I just felt really awkward standing there all alone... 😓 Oh, the coffee? Frickin' phenomenal, their coffee beans are all Fair Trade Organic™ certified. Which, despite the buzz around it, is a very cool thing to get behind ethically, but you can make your own decisions on that topic. Either way, if you're lookin' for good drip or espresso, this place should be on your list.

As former baristas and cafe owners we're a little more critical than most when it comes to coffee. That being said, Island Roasters scores a solid 4 out of 5 for the friendliness of the staff, the preparation of the espresso drinks, as well as the cleanliness and overall vibe of the shop. Roasting beans is a true art form, and Island Roasters definitely knows their craft. My personal preference leans toward a slightly darker/bolder roast, but aside from that, their roast and shots had a well balanced flavor and a smooth, mellow finish. The one small negative in my drink was that the half and half in my breve was steamed a little too long giving it a hint of a scalded aftertaste. The cranberry orange muffin was fresh and made from scratch with lots of pieces of pulp and berries. The emphasis seems to be more on health conscious/organic ingredients than shear sinful deliciousness like a traditional bakery. OK for some if you're into that kind of thing, but personally I'll choose the less healthy, guilt ridden, tasty goodness every time. Overall a good little coffee shop worth the stop if you're in the area.

The lavender coconut cold brew was nice but lacked the concentration I’m used to elsewhere. Staff friendly and helpful. What a bag of the Ethiopian Yrgacheffe, very nice indeed!

S
Steven Mingey

The cold brew coffee was very good. The pricing was ok. Didn't find it to be a comfortable place to relax or do work in. For some resaon, it smelled really bad going into the store. It may be because of the roasting process, even though it smelled like burned popcorn. I would go back for another cold brew, but this coffee shop would not be my first choice in NSB.

So wanted to love this place based on what we have seen about it on the Internet. Went there to buy roasted decaf beans in our search for the best decaf coffee for health reasons. We also wanted to absorb the ambiance and sense attributes of a coffee shop in a great city with a roaster. First of all, parking on a Sunday was a bit confusing. Needs a bigger facility or without the food corner. The food prices are too expensive for another purchase. Had a cup of Sumatra decaf and it seems watery when sipped but with a nice aftertaste. We use 2oz of grounds for 6oz of coffee so maybe the cup of Sumatra was more diluted with water. Bought 1lb of Maya decaf beans for home. Unfortunately, the Maya coffee made with a 2-to-6 formula still produced that initial watery taste and the nice aftertaste was not as good as the Sumatra. However, the Maya beans did make very good flavored cold coffee.

This is one of my preferred places to get coffee when I’m in town, however it’s another local gem where you don’t exactly feel welcome. The coffee is decent.. nothing to write home about but a good iced coffee for sure. The honey badger is also really yummy. The staff aren’t overly friendly and don’t really offer much aside from the quick, sharp, order interaction. They do offer some bagels and snacks but I haven’t tried them so I can’t speak to the food.

Decent little coffee shop and breakfast/sandwich place. Service was friendly and quick. Had outside seating, with dinner covering. What I didn't while enjoy was you were basically looking at a parking lot and asphalt while seated, do a bit different than most coffee shop feels.

I was really looking forward to trying this local roaster for a good latte and a fresh muffin. I was disappointed. The coffee did not have any flavor or aroma and the muffin I purchased was very “gummy” inside. I did go up and ask to purchase a shot of espresso to add to my coffee, as it was too weak for my tastes. The nice girl working the register tried to explain that, because I ordered a Breve latte, it isn’t as flavorful. I let her know I have been ordering breves for over 20 years, so am aware of what they are supposed to taste like. She kindly had them add a shot of espresso at no charge, but, sadly, it did nothing to add much more coffee flavor. I ended up tossing both the coffee and the muffin and went to Starbucks 🙃
