Came here on rec from a neighbor who loves Rocky’s. Local burger joint next to the San Leandro history museum. Good burgers and fries. Friendly and uncomplicated :)

Delicious meaty burger and crispy onion rings!

The best hole in the wall burger joint you can find. mom and pop shop, the burgers can get pretty big but the delicious homemade barbeque taste is packed in every burger . A must have when in San leandro

Me and my bois went to get some burgers and man we were astonished of how juicy and flavorful they were. The chili fries werent bad either. Also I did love the freedom of there being a bunch of sauces and toppings for free.

Found this place on a Google search for a "Good burger joint near me" and up pops Rocky's Charcoal Grill...I was going to Nations....But, I wanted something new...Great Choice....I'll be back :)

Rocky's Charcol Grill is a small burger place but the service is great and the food is delicious...my husband and I enjoy eating here very much

Best hamburger spot in the BAY. Ive been coming here for the past 11years. & never disapoint. Everything really fresh. Must try go visit. Fully recomended.

This is my favorite local burger joint in the downtown San Leandro area. It is one of the few remaining charcoal grill burger joints left. It makes the burger so much more tasty! Great value for the price and deliciousness. Check it out ASAP!

What immediately stuck out on my first visit was the fresh crispy lettuce, and freshly sliced bright red tomatoes on my burger. I have returned many times to find this place consistently fresh, with an attention to the small details that make a relatively simple burger very memorable. I heard about it from a friend, and always stop by when I'm in the area. Try the Oakland burger, on sourdough bun, with 2 types of cheese and bacon.

Great burger spot...real char grill inside! Ive driven by here about 1000 times. I finally had to go in because its always busy, and packed at lunch. I was glad i went in. I had the bacon burger with cheese and my buddy had the double cheeseburger with fries. The onion rings were great as well.

Nice folks run the grill and serve great food at reasonable prices.

Rocky's Charcoal Grill burgers are on point! I got the Chubaburger, this was cooked perfectly. Meat patties were juicy and had a nice charcoal flavor. Cheese was melted perfectly, piled high of grilled onions, mushrooms , guacamole, bacon and fresh toppings. Garlic fries were nice and crispy as well. Staff was very courteous and friendly, overall a very pleasant experience. I would come back here again!

This place e is great! The ribs are authentically smoked so it is very tender! The sauce is sweet spicy and they give you plenty so very moist. The potato salad and sides are very good too! But where is the slaw? (That would be my only complaint.) They have everything from charbroiled burgers to Fish and chips and BBQ Chicken! Great service too (call in for fast pickup). People are friendly too.

Both meals are SOOOO good and ai'm DEFINITELY gonna start coming here more often!

Great, flavorful burger and fries. Good pricing. The chocolate milkshake wasn’t my favorite but I’d go back sans the shake. Quick turn around and COVID friendly with some outside seating. I recommend checking this spot out.

Came here once with a friend and my brother. One of the first things that I noticed was how nice the girl was with attending me as a cashier. Another thing was that the taste of the burger was just how a homeburger on a grill would taste like but better. Plus the fries were crispy which is another plus.

The place looks pretty old and small (which is misleading when it comes to quality of their food), but they do have outdoor seating (4 tables if I counted right), which is always a plus (for me), and luckily it is not next to the busiest street in San Leandro (so you get to have some quiet time as well). It's right next to San Leandro History Museum and Art Gallery, on the corner of Hays and W Estudillo Avenue. Their food is yummy, I was actually surprised that I didn't come here sooner. Their burgers are properly made (on a charcoal grill, just like the name says) and you have a bar where you can add condiments yourself (pickles, onions, mayo, ketchup, mustard, salad, tomatoes,...). Their fries and meat are not over-salted (kudos to that!), but if you prefer a saltier version you will find tiny salt and pepper packets on the tables. The onion rings are not bad either (but I still prefer fries). Did I mention they have turkey burgers as well? That's not something you encounter often at burger joints (you either get a grilled chicken breast or a beef patty). They also have hot dogs, sandwiches and milkshakes, if you prefer that. Price/value is good. I can actually recommend them more than the burger pub a few blocks lower down the street.

I recently discovered this place, tucked away behind Washington Square. I ordered the BBQ chicken to go and have to say, they gave a fair amount or chicken for a reasonable price. I was happy with my order and will go back to check out some of their other menu items.

Decently priced items; the pulled pork was a tad too sweet for my liking but they sure serve a hefty portion of meat. I'd recommend a charcoal burger if your here.

Burgers are good, and prices are reasonable. They have a great selection of unique burger offerings, and make good fries and onion rings. The restaurant is clean enough (typical of a small diner). Only food complaint is that the patties are sometimes a little too charred tasting. You add your own condiments at their condiment bar.

The staff is very nice especially toward children! A male employee told my child anytime she wanted fries or nuggets she's welcome. I once ordered a pineapple shake that was super disappointing. Can't complain about their burgers!

Generous portion of hot, perfectly crispy fries. The drink selection could be a little better, but I get it: very small outfit where, I would guess, the profit margin isn't real big. No problem, there. All in all, I would highly recommend it if you're looking for good, well-prepared and very flavorful food, WITH generous portions!! You won't be disappointed. I know I'll be back to try out menu items.

It's okay. My main issue is getting a burger with no dressing whatsoever. No mayo, no mustard. Nothing?!?! Not sure if this is normal. Probably would be good if it wasn't so dry. Really wanted to like this place as I eat out often and love to support local businesses.

Their prices are way too high ! The hamburger meal(combo) has been eliminated from the menu, allowing only A-la-carte to be sold,which made the price go from $8.75 to $22.75 ! Outrageous...over a 1 year span !

The 4.5 star rating is a bit misleading. All of our burgers were dry and the patty fell apart. Not very flavorful. Onion rings were good. Garlic fries tastes fine but the fries are very soggy and limp. Definitely not worth the money.
