This place was really good! Everything was fast and the servers were nice. My favorite dish would have to the pan fried buns with meat inside. I forgot what it was called correctly but you have to order it! My boyfriend and I were satisfied at the end of our meal and even had extra leftovers to bring home. I would come back again when I’m craving for dumplings. The place is also pretty big so you won’t have to wait long usually but it doesn’t get packed during dinner time.
Great food and dumplings, a cut above the usual, made by mom herself, (and I'm not kidding. I spoke with her and watch her make them), along with traditional dishes, which are also cut above. For instance I ordered the compound chicken, normally a sweet and sugary affair when ordered at many Chinese and Chinese-American restaurants, even Chinese restaurants that like traditional recipes, often succumb to the whims of the American palate, and apparently Americans loved everything sweet. Not so for many reasons in China, and this particular compound had plenty of flavor, was fresh and vibrant, but wasn't floating in a pool of syrupy glowing orange radioactive sauce. Instead the sauce clung to the meat as it is supposed to, and everything was fresh and crunchy. Truly delicious. As for the dumplings done by a master. I asked the mother, who the mother of the owner, if I could take a picture of her as she made some of these dumplings, a wonderful older lady with a huge smile, only allowed me to take pictures of her hands and the dumplings for which I was very grateful. She had expert technique and was highly concentrated with each dumpling, and yet it seemed kind of effortless as she was chatting to her daughter the entire time. It was a wonderful spectacle to watch while I was eating my delicious food. They were out of a Shiu Mai (pork), but still had Har Gow (Shrimp), and so I ordered the shrimp and their signature Bao, "Xiao Long Bao", a dumpling twisted together at the top like a little treasure bag with a meaty center and a chewy meatball type of feeling, surrounded by warm savory broth that explodes when you bite into it. Excellent. And the shrimp dumpling, one of the best I've ever had, and far better than many that I've had in Chinatown in San Francisco. They didn't try to kill you with the dough, and relied more on stuffing it to the brim with flavorful shrimp, while keeping the shell relatively thin to the point where it was translucent. This place is a sleeper, because it just looks like an ordinary Chinese-American restaurant, but it is far more than that. It is a spot where some real traditional Chinese food becomes available to Lucky saps like me. I will be back!
Best bang for your bucks. 4 items cost less than $20 per person after tax. The xiao long baos and pan fried pork buns weren't overcooked so they all had a good amount of broth. Mixed feedback for the pot stickers. It didn't have any green onions, which helps with the flavors, but some people do hate green onions.
We wanted to try this xiao long bao place. Some people here reviewed the Chinese entrees, but xiao long bao (soup dumplings) are in the name and you have to try what they specialize in. We got the pan fried pork buns, crab xiao long bao, and beef sandwich. The beef sandwich 9/10 - the scallion pancake holding the beef was super flaky, the sauce tastes like Peking duck sauce, but they could have put more beef in this. Pan friend pork baos - 100/10!!! - Large, juicy, super meaty. The bottom is fried to perfection and the top is soft and fluffy, steamed so well. The pork flavors are so good. Crab xiao long bao - Made really well, none of our soup dumplings broke when we picked it up. There was soup inside and the flavors were great. The only thing is that I wish they were a tad bit bigger with more soup but for this price you can’t really argue with it. Delicious! Overall, the restaurant is not expensive compared to the SF xiao long bao places, it is extremely affordable. For 3 of our dishes, the total was $29. Definitely try this out if you are around the area.
Found my new go-to! I'm not sure if it's the speed of service, the complimentary green tea, reasonable prices, or nostalgic feel of this place, but it's an easy thumbs up 👍🏾 for me. The food that I've tried has been delicious so far, with all around approval from my family members that have gone here. You can dine in or order out. If you are dining in, this place is a clean, no frills establishment. This is completely fine at this price point, but if you're looking for a fancy night out, this is not it. If you want that local family restaurant vibe, this is it. Everyone was nice and the staff was attentive enough. Food: 5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Price: 5/5 Overall: 4.5/5
This little place has a homey-vibe. Good quality food, fast service. Order the sauteed green beans, Xiao long bao, noodle and green onion sauce, and homemade dumplings. Everything was fresh and delicious. I know a place is good when Chinese families have dinner there.
It was so delicious! We got the Shanghai pork Xiao long bao, 2 orders of the pan-fried dumplings, and fried flour! The pan-fried dumpling were perfect! At other spots the pan side gets too hard from the frying but this was perfectly cooked, crispy but not overcooked. Definitely coming back here!
Went for lunch with my partner and we both enjoyed it. The place has potential. It looks very spacious but they opted to keep people in one segment of the building. The food itself was great and there was a decent amount of customers. The place had atleast 3 or 4 other parties there at a time and everyone was mindful of others. The food was really delicious, like literally everything we tried. We will definitely go back. The only thing I wish they could add is beer.
Absolutely delicious!!! The quality of food was amazing!! The price was great and so affordable! We contemplated getting more food to go but realized it probably wasn't a great idea because we are only in Oakland for a short time. But we will be keeping this place in mind if we are ever in the area again! ❤️
Our go-to for xia long bao in the East Bay. Their beef roll is dough-heavy, but since I love scallion pancakes, this is not a problem for me. But keep in mind in case you're expecting more filling. Flavors are consistently good, and the service is outstanding. Good prices as well. Highly recommend! Our go-to order (pictured) is xia long bao, beef roll, spicy pork noodle soup (!!! this pork is sooo tender and the broth is well spiced), and spicy chicken fried rice.

Dropped by here over the weekend. Been coming here for years, long before the pandemic. Been to other places that sell dumplings too. Some of those places sell premium dumplings too. The dumplings at this place are good. On par with the expensive places around the bay, even in LA. The service is okay. The atmosphere is casual. Definitely my go to pot for dumplings.
The soup dumplings were good. The other dumplings were good too but for some reason the potstickers were very liquidy/seemed like they had soup in them too and were just okay. They were not pan fried on all sides, just one. The hot and sour soup was more sour than hot to me so it was just okay. The green onion pancake was good and the shrimp fried rice everyone liked as well. We went on thanksgiving day for lunch after picking up my cousin from the airport so we were seated quickly and the service was fine. I don’t think anyone wanted to be there but it was a holiday so that’s understandable. The ambiance was fine and we were seated at a large round table since we had a big group. There used to be another restaurant here that was good and this was a decent replacement. It’s walking distance from my parents’ house so we will come again. I probably wouldn’t order the potstickers again and just get more dumplings. The dumplings were the best. The green onion pancake was tasty but very greasy. I would eat it again but not often since there was so much oil.
If you are looking for big dishes, this place is not for you. This place give out small plate. Food is decent. Xiao long bao is only average. First time try Chengdu fried rice and it's not bad; a little spicy.
My wife and I are from Virginia and we wanted to try this place out. I have been craving a mom and pop Chinese cuisine. Overall it was pretty good but not too great. Knocking 1 star out because of quality and giving it 4 star because the price is very decent. We had the following: -Salted pork fried rice Wish it had egg in it but it's good 7/10 -Beef noodle soup This one I did not enjoy at all. I wish that they used homemade egg noodles instead of pasta noodles. The flavor was subpar. 4/10 -Mushroom and bok choy I liked this one except the one kind of mushroom that has a weird taste. Also for $12 it's a bit pricey for just veggies 6/10. -Pan fried pork buns This one I love the most. It's unique and it taste great 9/10. -Pork Xiao long bao I also love this one. It's flavorful and has that subtle taste. 7/10
The Food When you try to get Xiao Long Bao from one location, but they are takeout only, so you look for alternatives. We were able to find Xiang Yuen Xiao Long Bao (香圓小籠包) and it seemed like a pretty nice place. The recommendation was to order Chinese Fried Dough (油條) and Sweet Soy Bean Milk (現磨甜豆漿) so my friend ordered it. We also ordered Shanghai Pork Xiao Long Bao (香圓上海小籠包), Pan-Fried Pork Bun (香圓生煎包), and Pork Wonton with Spicy & Peanut Sauce (紅油抄手). My friend said the Chinese Fried Dough and Sweet Soy Bean Milk was good. The Chinese Fried Dough was crispy on arrival, and it goes well with the Sweet Soy Bean Milk. The Shanghai Pork Xiao Long Bao had a good amount of soup and meat. Everything tasted good, and the presentation was also done well. I was also eyeing their noodle soup...but maybe next time. The Miscellaneous Xiang Yuen Xiao Long Bao is on one of the main streets, with street parking close by. The interior is quite simple, yet quite spacious to accommodate many people. We got seated right away since there was no wait. The service and staff were good, no complaints. Their menu is quite extensive. From appetizers and dim sum, to rice and noodle, as well as specials. With all the options and reasonable pricing, it's recommended to check out this place if you want some soup dumplings. I would like to return to try their other selections on the menu.
Went to test chinese dumplings. We ordered crab and chicken dumplings and Yangzhou fried rice. All test good and feel authentic test. Servers are not much english speaking only few of them. Food was good. First they serve hot green tee and then rest of the order. They dont even ask for water or soda. They give you spoons if you asked. Make sure you check your bills before you leave the restaurant. Service is very poor.
This is a hidden gem. The service was excellent, neat and organized dining area. Especially loved the windowed dumpling making area. We sampled several item and looking forward to many, many delicious returns. Dumplings
I ordered the braised eggplant with fish garlic sauce, and the pork noodle dish. While each dish was cooked with precision, the flavors failed to leave a lasting impression. Despite their culinary craftsmanship, the flavors lacked the depth and vibrancy I had hoped for, leaving me searching for ways to enhance the taste so I added soy sauce and chili sauce. The restaurant serves as a casual outing, However, for those in pursuit of culinary enchantment and gastronomic delight, it may be worth exploring other dishes for a more captivating experience. There were fresh dumplings being made, so if I come back, I will definitely order some of those. The restaurant was pretty, quiet, and a tip I would give to the owner is to play some music in the background.

The fried pork bun and the Xiao Long Bao saved the the day. And prob will only return for those two items. Dim sum menu is very limited. We tried other non-dim sum items but we're not impressed. We were seated quickly but had to wait forever to get the menu and you can imagine how long it takes to get our orders in let alone our food coming out. It wasn't busy. The services is just not there. If the item we order takes longer to cook, feel free to let us know; however, I see table that came after us and clearing out before us and we do order some similar plate. 1st time here but willing to give it another shot and will adjust rating and recommendations.

5 ☆ => 2☆ (Look at my last photo) I'm sad to say goodbye to this place that I was obsessed with. I used to drive for a long time just to get food here. I realized that this place's hygiene is questionable after 2 different occasions. One time I found hair and another time found cockroach in stir fried vegetables 😫 Their reaction makes me feel like it's not uncommon. They were not surprised and offered no apologies. Just "do you want a replacement or refund?" ☹️ === My old 5 ☆ review here Pan fried pork bun - one of the best ones I've had and was really affordable. Stir fried vegetables (Shanghai vegeterian) - great variety with woodear mushroom & bamboo shoots Wuxi style ribs - tender, sweet & sour, with steamed bok choy Garlic eggplant - delicious sweet & sour, not really spicy Beef noodle - I didn't like the beef noodle as much as the one in Noodles Fresh Overall I like this place 😊 Staff was friendly and fast.
