Mia and Kali had wonderful customer service for our first time at Chimy's and we can't wait to return!
Food was reminiscent of older diners, so nothing fancy (tacos, burgers, sandwiches, etc) but excellent quality. Drink prices were phenomenal. Highly recommend for a quick bite or to start off a night out. Be careful where you park though, as you can be towed for being in the wrong area.
The food is always great here. I love their toppings bar to add lettuce, salsa, etc. to your food. My favorite dishes are the tacos and chips and guacamole. Love the flavor of their guac - it has a nice hint of lemon. Margaritas are good as well. Definitely check them out during happy hour! Service is always great as well. Edit: I love their dog-friendly outdoor seating as well. Also, great prices at Happy Hour! I visited recently with my mom and my dog, Bogart. Only $8.04 for 5 beef tacos and a Land Shark. Not bad. 🍺🌮🦈
This is the perfect place if you're looking for great service and drinks. Many establishments in SM (or anywhere else, for that matter) have bartenders who act like elitists and don't understand customer service. When my car broke down, I was able to charge my phone while waiting for roadside assistance, and the staff responded with empathy. Additionally, the bartenders and waitstaff are not only attractive but also very friendly. This place truly feels like home.
While I’ve always loved going to Chimy’s for their unbeatable Happy Hour—great prices without sacrificing quality—I had the pleasure of working with their team recently for something even more special: my college graduation celebration. Though Chimy’s doesn’t have a private event space, their team, including the managers and even the owner, went above and beyond to help me accommodate a group of 45+ friends and family. We collaborated to create some great drink specials, and guests were able to order their own food from a curated selection I worked on with them. Everything came out fresh and delicious—no complaints, only compliments! The drink prices remained affordable, and the quality was top-notch, as always. But what truly made the experience stand out was the staff’s professionalism, friendliness, and willingness to work with me to make the night unforgettable. Thanks to this experience, they’ve gained a loyal group of customers for years to come. Highly recommend Chimy’s—not just for a casual hangout, but for any fun group get-together where great food, drinks, and service matter!
Really great. I’ve know completed the TX Chimy’s tour and San Marcos may have the best food… Lunch bar service on March 23 was great too. Will make it by whenever in town. Great job!
THE BEST MARGARITAS!!! AND THE GIRLS ARE SO SWEET!!! The food is okay, if you just want someone to hold you down while you drink some drinks or need an appetizer or something before a night out. They usually have a game on too if one is playing. Highly recommend to start here with a Marg before a night out :)
A getaway from your getaway. Super chill vibe, quality ingredients, homegrown customer service. Looking forward to the return trip.
Fantastic place! Margaritas were great. Staff was super friendly. Nachos were delicious and loved being able to get my own jalapeños and hot sauce. Lots of seating indoor and outdoor. Plenty of screens for watching sports.
The margaritas here are what they are known for and man are they good. I usually always know what to expect when I roll into a chimy's and they did not disappoint. I got their standard margarita with nachos and it definitely hit the spot. Will be back for more!
Cool place with good alcohol choices. I had fish tacos. Meh. Bland. Plenty of basics to dress them up at the condiment bar but, still just okay.
Chimy’s is a very good college bar to connect with friends or watch sporting events. perfect if you like crowds and people watching, but can be a little noisey. food and service is average at best only because it’s understaffed in both areas. food took us almost 90 minutes to receive. overall, I would say that our experience was good.
Mid is the best word I could come up with to describe this place. Some of the servers were pleasant enough, but the girl at the front won the prize as most unessesarily rude and indifferent.
If you would like to not hear the person sitting next to you because it’s so loud then this is the place for you! The food was not terrible but we did have to send back our burger because it was not fully cooked. Once it was it was alright. The soda in the soda machine definitely tasted like the machine could benefit from a cleaning. This is a very nice place for a college kid but if you are over 33 and not drunk then probably choose somewhere else. We also went Friday night so maybe it would be better another night.
If you're looking for a place to drink and hang then this is a great place. But, if you want food in a decent amount of time or if you want what you ordered don't bother. Our group all ordered separately up front and only 2 out of 10 had their correct order. I know it was a sat night but food still took such a lengthy amount of time that no one wanted to send anything back to try again.
I don't know if you can see it in the photo, but we ordered a taco salad and the shell was over cooked to a hard burnt point.
Pretty sure there are cockroaches in the kitchen. Food tasted vaguely like a roach and I saw one
This place is in cahoots with RCG towing/Earnie's paint and body. They allow RCG to have a spotter sitting in a gray Nissan waiting for people to walk off the property and immediatly tow their vehicle. My father is old and he thought the no parking sign was for the spots next to the bldg. He parked in the ones facing the street to have ice cream with his great grandson. The spotter watched him walk off the property and called the tow truck. 20 min and it cost him $200 to get his car back. This is shady to say the least and bad business. I would never do business with Chimy's or RCG/Earnies paint and body!
there towing policy is genuinely so insane. if u go to go through the front of chimys and not the back, ur cars getting towed and u now have to fight with a towing company over why you owe 200 dollars. insane. do not recommend
I am extremely disappointed with the way my daughter was treated at Chimy’s. She was escorted out of the restaurant not because of her behavior, but because of a personal issue one of your employees had with her. This is extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. Restaurants are supposed to provide a welcoming and respectful environment for all customers. Instead, my daughter was embarrassed and discriminated against for reasons that had nothing to do with her contact as a paying customer. I expected better standards of professionalism and customer service from Chim’ys. If personal grudges are allowed to interfere with how guests are treated It reflects very poorly on your management and training. I Hope your address a situation promptly so that to ensure that no other customer has to go through this treatment.
The brunette cement headed bartender on the patio probably needs to stay in school. Literally asked us “soft or crispy tacos?” We asked for soft only to then turn around and say “ we only have crispy “. Rude inconsiderate staff. Very disappointed.
Be mindful of parking and doing business here. The restaurant allows for a tow truck company to have one of their employees park in a Nissan Altima also known as a tow spotter. My girlfriend who is an amputee and has to walk on crutches to get around parked in a spot with no towing signs but still got her car towed. The car was there for no more than an hour and got no warning from anyone. She had to go call an uber to get her car back. Pretty shady for the restaurant to allow this operation to go on, I wonder how much of a cut they are getting from the tow company.
Was from out of town visiting, heard a lot of great things about this place from TikTok so took the family to check it out. We ordered and 1 hour and sum later our food never came out. We kept asking our waitress and she would disappear to go check on it. In the meantime, customers that walked in after us were getting their meals. Had to ask for a refund because she charged me for my tab before she brought anything out to us. Then as I’m talking to manager my waitress says, your order is almost out. Would you like it to go.
