Nha Hang 1.99 is one of the top spots for Cơm Gà Chiên ½ Con + Trứng (aka 1/2 Cornish Game Hen with Fried Rice and Egg). I visit the Westminster location more often than Fountain Valley, so I didn’t recognize it at first because I don’t remember the signage reading “Roasting Water 1.99 Restaurant”. It appears they now have a partnership with another business by the name of Roasting Water who offers drinks and gifts. I’m a go with the “tried and true” kinda guy, so I’ve never tried anything else on the menu. The Cornish Game Hen is always crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and it’s best eaten after being dipped in their house shallot sauce. This dish is perfectly complemented with their fried egg, pickled veggies and fried rice. It never disappoints but don’t take my word for it…try it for yourself!
I've been getting takeout from here for a long time, back when this place used to be on Garden Grove Blvd and West Street. This was my first time dining in and the food was even more incredible! The fried chicken with red rice came out quickly and was hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The sauce they serve with the chicken is super addictive as well, a nice sweet and salty and oniony sauce, and the restaurant sells them in jars for $8. I came here with my friends on a Monday night and it was pretty empty, one or two other people came in later to get drinks. Most of our food very quickly came out and everything was delicious. The location is a little tricky to find, it's tucked away in a dark business plaza between Newhope and Harbor, and the sign out front reads as "Roasting Water | Nha Hang $1.99" so people who don't read past the first part don't really know that's the restaurant lol. Overall I would eat dinner here again if I were in the area!
Great tasting food and great prices complement my meal of chicken with fried rice and egg. The steak and eggs tasted savory and I like their seasoning. Definitely come back as there was great service and the dessert tasted good too. Friendly staff is always a positive for a restaurant and their customers

Our favorite Vietnamese spot in OC. Number 1 is amazing, a total go-to. Everything on the menu is super tasty too. It's got that real authentic Asian flavor. My friend's family took us here years ago after a water park day, and I've been hooked ever since. You know it's good when the whole family goes there.
yummy food! love the chicken and rice! easy to dine in and take out
I decided to try this place for the first time because I had heard good things from people I knew. This is the greatest chicken and rice with eggs mix I’ve ever had. The Thai Tea was beyond scrumptious, superb even. They need to give Chris a promotion because he passed the vibe checks and was working harder than anybody I’ve seen in a restaurant. I was able to taste the blood sweat and tears that was put into prepping my deviously delicious meal. I witnessed Chris at the register, counting cash and taking orders with such efficiency I was shook. I could see myself eating here everyday, which is possible with these magically glorious prices This place will be considered a classic in the restaurant industry, and it’s well deserved.
Definitely try the chicken with red rice and egg! Yumm , the skin on the chicken is crispy and rice is tasty with the egg. I usually order to go so the ambience isn’t important for me - it is also a boba tea shop and has really cute decor. Service here is also very nice! They have many other dishes to choose from and the price is very reasonable . Highly recommended for taste and service. Right
Pretty relaxed place with good food. Got the lemon grass chicken with the crispy rice. Overall it was pretty tasty and the serving size was good. I'll be back to try other dishes.
The half chicken plate is always sure to satisfy!!! Simple, yet so tasty! Always tastes the same and doesnt disappoint. Will go back when the cravings kick in! Just be ready to bring your own water, they charge extra.
The chicken dish was super yummy, decent portion and filling, and very cheap for todays food prices. Must try their chicken dipped in their carmelized onion sauce.
NOSTALGIA NOSTALGIA NOSTALGIA Man I remember when I went to this place at a different chain like 10 years ago and it really was 1.99 or like 2.50 for the Chicken Now, only 2 items on the menu is 2 dollars and the drinks are 2 dollars (water is 1 dollar) FIRST THINGS FIRST Cash Only - Cause you know Asians be acting funky for that tax bracket. Steak and Eggs for 4 dollars? And its the rub is deliciOSO CKN - Dry, but that sauce and tomato RICE MMHMM ASK FOR AN EGG ON TOP!!! or BUTTERY rice, worth it! TRUST Summer time special, 2 dollar pho and 2 dollar Hieu Tieu (noodles) It's not so meaty but its cheap to fill you! dude, its 2 dollars, order two of them, and you are FULL AF! No complaints here.
A hidden gem. Their cornish chicken and the sauce, oh the delicious sauce, is super tasty! If your in Garden Grove, presumably for Disneyland, check it out. Not too far.
We cannot dine in per state regulations due to pandemic. We order to go. We call to make order. By the time we got there, the food was ready. We made payment and were gone in about 5 mins.

I will give this place four stars just out of respect for the quality of the food. However, the price of the chicken is far gone from the good old days of being 1.99 and the food now is just a gamble at best.
I order a burger came with a side, price estimated from 10-20+ USD. I ordered out so can't rate the place but however it was really crowded at night especially during dinner time on weekends. A range or burgers and sides to choose from

They have this dish # 5 spicy lemongrass chicken with Burnt Crispy rice (yummy) I like to order it, it's very delicious (sauce). I would give them a five, reason is they only give you 1 chicken leg , I would go more often if they would serve 2 chicken legs. Ps, it's not 1.99 anymore they have competitive prices.
Pinching every penny when you're here, you can't say much about the bucket of rice they're double dipping from. I wouldn't say the food was representative of Vietnamese food, but it's convenient with Vietnamese flavors.

Food was good when price was 1.99. Now it's $10/plate, not worth it. Place is a little dirty, not a good date restaurant, no good memory because atmosphere is boring, dirty and slightly gloomy but you can smile extra to light up the room. I bring my friend Linh there. Her laughters sound like firecrackers. One of her is equal to ten people laughing.
Ordered 4 com ga and none came with the sauce. Will never come back to this spot
The woman who works for you is extremely violent and lacks understanding. All we did was ask for "extra potatoes" - she became agitated and aggressive, refusing to process our order because it was supposedly "wrong." Just adding potatoes to our meal made her extremely violent. We ended up canceling our order and leaving the restaurant without eating. Customer service is zero
I made a mistake to eat the food from this restaurant. I saw their advertisement on Vietnamese TV and wanted to try out. Boy! It's a terrible experience. First the place is hard to find due to a wrong name, Boiling Water, instead of $1.99. Second, they don't even know the address when I called. Third, the food is horrible. Don't wait your time and money there.
