Opinions de Loquita Santa Barbara
We enjoyed every dish we ordered, the drinks were prepared well and our server was excellent. The food is flavorful and beautifully plated. Except for the ice cream which was just in small custard cups, a bit unimpressive compared to how everything else was plated. The paella was very tasty and I definitely enjoyed the soccarat, but it seemed as though it was all soccarat, not much rice otherwise. Do not expect large portions though, even the main entrées are like tapas, and plan on sharing because everyone at your table will want to try every dish. We had to take a late reservation but we were not rushed out. We also did not have to wait for the rest of our party before being seated, and I appreciated that. There was a little issue with sitting our party together, we thought we'd have to have two tables, but after speaking with the staff it was quickly resolved and we were moved to a larger table. Will definitely visit again.
I love Spain and have been many times, the food in Spain is so amazing and so specific that it becomes a craving that needs to be quenched. Loquita does this quite well, everything is on point, my only complaint would be the pan con tomate is too small I need a big basket of this not one piece cut into four pieces, it still tastes great I just need more, so I ordered two. Anyway everything is amazing the ambiance is great the staff is great and a good selection of Vermut. Love Loquita and try everything because everything is perfect!
This is by far one of the best and most authentic Spanish restaurants I've been to in southern California. Their nod to the world famous El Bulli, presented through their liquid olive dish, piqued my interest from the start and the ride only got better from there. Every single one of the dishes we had (the pulpo, gambas, champiñones, and marisco paella) surpassed my expectations and solidified this as a repeat visit in the future. We got positively drunk off the gambas broth (hot butter, thinly sliced garlic, chiles de arbole) and contemplated getting a to-go container just to have more back at home. The only mark against this spot isn't on the staff or the food at all, but the location. If you don't mind sitting roadside, especially if you're in the back section, and having some noise pollution frequent your conversation, then I would highly recommend this spot as a date night or regular haunt.
Amazing food; beautiful presentation. Very chic and bright decor. Friendly and quick service. I highly recommend all the items we ordered, which were the: pan con tomate, croquetas, crudo, and the mariscos paella. All were very delicious and my husband and I will definitely be back whenever we are back in town.
Loquita Santa Barbara is our go-to restaurant whenever we're in town. We always order one of their delicious paella dishes and the charred broccolini, and we like to try a variety of their other appetizers, like oysters or octopus. On our recent visit, we tried the newly added Pinxto Taste Tour experience and it was fantastic. The quality of their paella seems to get better with every visit; it's a dish they've really perfected over the years. I highly recommend the Mariscos paella, which features bomba rice, Manila clams, jumbo prawns, grilled squid, squid ink, and a topping of green peas and garlic aioli. The service at Loquita is consistently excellent. The servers and hostesses are always attentive and impressive. This time, we had a wonderful server named Angie who provided great service. If you're looking for an unforgettable meal in Santa Barbara, I highly recommend making a reservation at Loquita. You won't regret it!
I had an incredible dining experience at Laquita in Santa Barbara. The atmosphere is warm, vibrant, and inviting — the perfect setting to enjoy authentic Spanish flavors. From the moment we sat down, the staff made us feel welcome with friendly, attentive service and great menu recommendations. The food was exceptional. The paella was rich and aromatic, cooked to perfection with a wonderful depth of flavor
Absolutely incredible. Gorgeous upscale plating, creative fascinating dishes/combinations, mind-blowing taste. Best octopus we've ever had. The goat milk custard with honey, caramelized onions, and peaches was my favorite. This place is SO pretty - delightful ambience. Eat outside!! I can't wait to go back.
The service, food, and presentation were all excellent. The drinks were also commendable, and the servers demonstrated thoroughness in inquiring about food allergies and offering appropriate alternatives or substitutions. While street parking is limited, the city parking lot across the street is a viable recommendation.
Beautiful and energetic Spanish space with tapas, paella and cocktails. Everything we ate was fantastic! The staff were very helpful and recommended excellent choices. I cannot wait to return. Make reservations and have a great experience.
Get the courtyard seat if you can! The greenery is an excellent vibe to accompany the fresh fare. I’d suggest getting ample bread to soak up the delicious sauces of the dishes (we were starved when we got there so it was a no brainer from us). They’re also dog friendly :) the sweetest pug patiently sat across from us through the meal!
Amazing dinner experience at Loquita! We came as a family with two kids and everything exceeded our expectations. The seafood paella was outstanding — full of flavor and perfectly cooked. The beef carpaccio and pulpo were also excellent. Even the kids’ chicken tenders were surprisingly good. Service was friendly and efficient, and the atmosphere was warm and lively without being too loud. Prices are fair for Santa Barbara, and the quality definitely matches what you pay for. Highly recommend this place if you’re visiting State Street. We’ll be back next time!
Loquita is an absolutely amazing culinary experience. The presentation is great; the variety of tastes, flavors, and smells is well crafted in every dish. I highly recommend the paella in whatever variation strikes you as appealing. Each one has its own charms; all three variations are a complete food adventure you will not regret. Reservations a week or more in advance are highly recommended if you don't want an extended wait for a table on a Friday/weekend/holiday. A word about atmosphere: the dress code here is mostly as you are. Don't show up straight off the beach, but you'll find everything from suits and dresses to shorts and Hawaiian shirts among the patrons. This is a popular restaurant, so it will be busy and it can get a bit loud at peak dinner rush. Finally, the service team here is friendly, helpful, and prompt. All of this said, expect a fine dining price, because that is what you are getting. With desert but no alcohol, we were north of $65 per person before tip. Thank you Loquita team! We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly and we hope to be back at some point in the not-too-distant future.
This place is truly amazing. We wandered in here and didn’t have an idea what a lovely and popping restaurant it was. The food was to die for , I think we ordered every starter. and the craft cocktails are all so intentional flavored. The staff even sent over champagne flutes halfway thru our meal and that just made our night 🥹. Service was also so prompt and perfect. Thank you Loquita!
Absolutely amazing. Beautiful presentation and chic decor. Friendly and prompt services. Fresh ingredients and tasty dishes. We ordered Croqueta De Seta, Carpaccio De Carne, Pulpo A La Gallegos and Mariscos Paella, all impressively delicious. What a culinary experience, definitely a highlight of our month-long US trip. Thank you Loquita Santa Barbara team!
The night I fell in love with paella. Incredible! Every bite - an explosion of elegant flavor! Beautiful outdoor patio created a perfect backdrop to enjoy a stunning dinner!
Yes! Plenty to share and well flavored delicious food. The ambiance is very elegant and the place is quiet enough to have a conversation

Yummy in my tummy, waiter was tall and nice to me, paella too good. Definitely the best food in santa barbara
Was recommended by my sister, all the dishes were delish. The gambas dish and salad stood out the most to us. The octopus was very tender. Our server was quick and kind. Ambiance was great.
Phenomenal food and kind service! Best Spanish restaurant I've ever been to and the back patio has such a cute ambiance.

For my money, this is the best restaurant in all of Santa Barbara. I've taken several coworkers here over the years and they always want to go back when we are in town.

Interesting tapas to be shared. The vibe inside is great and the patio is even better. It’s in the Funk Zone on lower State Street, but easy public parking nearby.

One of the best pailla specially the vegetarian one Very nice ambience mushroom croquettes were one among best Nice desserts
We love tapas, so we had to check out Loquita. The outdoor seating area was lovely and the food was quite good.
Nice dinner place. I wanted to love it, but I think on balance it's very good but not quite five stars. Food was good, but uneven and a little expensive for what you get – standouts included the crudo and champinones. I'd pass on the broccolini next time. Service was good and outside patio was nice.
The paella was excellent, and the atmosphere was lovely. Although reservations can be hard to get, the overall experience was well worth it. One small suggestion: I hope the host stand could be a bit more attentive to seating comfort. We were seated in a spot with direct sunlight in our eyes, even though other tables were available. Aside from that, everything was great.
Food is good I like the gin tonic its big and refreshing other drinks good too The tapas are good The tuna peaxh one, the ham croqueta, octopus The beef carparcio is big The paella dont have much rice but its good You can also put shrimp aside if allergy Also have nice outside seating too The dish also come out quick

OVERALL EXPERIENCE: Some of the dishes were a hit or miss for us. Unfortunately, not enough for me to need to come back. DOGS ALLOWED: Yes! Patio seating available. AMBIANCE: We were seated on the patio, which was nice for a summer night. They had umbrellas but some areas still had some debris from the tree falling on the table (and in our food and water). ORDERED: [5/5] Crudo with passionfruit and citrus: MUST ORDER!!! This was the best thing we ordered!! [1/5] Carpaccio de carne: the cut was chewy and the flavors of the truffle manchego did not pair well. [3/5] Patatas bravas: you would think you can't go wrong with potatoes... there was too much going on with the three different sauces. [2/5] Broccolini: maybe it was just the pieces we got? but they were very tough! a bit difficult to eat. [3/5] Chorizo y pollo paella: the chicken was tender and moist, the shishito peppers were tasty, the bean was a disappoint (as I was really excited thinking it was a roasted garlic), and the rice was not bursting with enough flavor (some areas tasted like the rice was either overcooked or undercooked). I was also a bit disappointed that the crispy rice at the bottom was not as crispy. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed by this dish. They are known for the gin! So we opted for: [3/5] Costa Blanca: was hoping the blood orange flavor would be more prominent, but this drink disappointed. there was a strong taste of medicinal herb, and it was not good... [5/5] Maravilloso: refreshing! and the apricot rosemary foam was a nice touch! SERVICE: Service was great! Staff were very friendly and attentive. PRICE: ~ $50+pp PARKING: Not certain about structure parking, but there is plenty of street parking. We walked from out hotel, which was convenient. Food: 3/5 stars Service: 5/5 stars Venue: 3/5 stars
Very delicious food. We ordered seafood paella, mushroom, spanish omlet, broccolini, garlic shrimp, everything was great. However, our seats were arranged next to the door with people coming in and out while there were actually still plenty of empty tables. Our bill was charged extra payment for a bottle of wine that we never ordered. Thankfully we discovered it. A bit concerned for the service quality.
I’m sad to write this review because I was so excited to eat at this place during my visit at Santa Barbara. To start, I made a reservation about a month ago and I had to still wait 20 minutes for my table. The service was not very welcoming. I love Spanish food and that was one of the reasons why I wanted to come here. Having tried many Spanish restaurants I can say that the few things I tried here were very average or bad. The croquetas and cheese plate were just alright and the carrilleras were too salty. On the other hand, the Tempranillo wine was great and the olive oil cake was good. Lastly, the service took a long time between dishes, and even though I was hoping to try more things in the menu, the food was taking long enough that I started to feel full between dishes. Maybe I had this experience because it was Valentine’s Day which tends to be a bustier day for restaurants, but in this case I think the staff should be ready to handle this situations in a more welcoming way.

We stopped in for happy hour, which they don't have. So we sat down and ordered the carpaccio to share and a glass of vino tinto. First of all, glass of wine was barely filled to a decent level. …
