Opinions de Father's Office Santa Monica
Quaint warm old school bar with one of the best burgers I can remember having in a minute. Great fries and a good tap list too
Father’s Office in Santa Monica feels like a masterclass from someone who’s seen the world, cut the fluff, and come home to serve only what matters. You walk in and the room has that quiet confidence of a place built by people who believe in standards, not suggestions. The Office Burger lands like a sermon dry aged beef, blue cheese, sweet onions, arugula all working together with the kind of bold harmony that makes you wonder why anyone ever asked for ketchup in the first place. The staff moves with the precision of people who care, not because it’s cute but because details are the difference between forgettable and unforgettable. There’s humor in the attitude too a kind of “we’re protecting you from your own bad taste” wink that somehow makes you trust them more. It’s smart, it’s flavorful, it’s unapologetically itself, and walking out you feel like you just tasted something honest in a world that keeps trying to sell you shortcuts.
This is a quirky neighborhood spot with excellent food and a good beer list. Beer aficionados will find some unusual offerings here, and the bar tender had an almost encyclopedic knowledge of what they had on offer. I feel I know a lot about beer, but I learned a few new things here. The burger was excellent, if slightly underdone to my medium specification. I went for lunch, and the place was full of ‘Norms’… ha. Still, I felt welcome and so will you… unless you ask for ketchup. Never ask for ketchup here! (Same as the original burger place, Louis’ Lunch in New Haven). I wish I would have had room for the Bratwurst as well. It looked good.
Finally checked out Father’s Office in Santa Monica—one of the burger joints on my LA bucket list—and I absolutely loved it. The vibe is low-key and cozy, with a laid-back atmosphere and a great selection of beers on tap. But the real star? The burger. One of the best I’ve had—simple, flavorful, and just perfectly done. Definitely a spot I’ll keep coming back to. 100% recommend if you’re into elevated comfort food in a chill setting.
Casual dining, Exceptional Quality! Great spot for a date or happy hour. Father's office ambiance is intimate, you order all your food drinks at the side of the bar and choose an open table. They have both outdoor and indoor seating. The food is absolutely incredible, not what you'd expect from a 'bar' and there's a wide variety of beer options on tap. We ordered the shrimp appetizer, sweet potatoes fries, the Fathers office burger and lamb skewers. Nothing disappointed. It's nice to take a little walk down Montana after your food, so the location is also nice as well. My lady and I have been a few separate times and we always remember Danny who provides great service with a smile! Would highly recommend Father's Office.
Wow! So far this is one of the best places I've been traveling to have a beer! The selection on tap was awesome! The servers were amazing helping me choose a beer (s). Oh and the Manager running these stores took the time to talk with me as well as advice on the beer and . The menu/food I had a hard decision on with such an amazing selection of bar? food, but this was not bar food, it was the best bar food! They touted the best burger, which I almost did and would have been amazing but instead I went with the "if anyone puts this one on the menu it's going to be good" and went with the Grilled Artichoke ;-) OMG it was fawesome! I could eat all my veggies that way forever! Oh all while I I listened to Earth Wind and Fire 🔥 ... ENOUGH SAID 🎤
Was In town for a work trip and someone from the hotel recommended fathers office. Ended up being the best food place of the week! The small plates were phenomenal, we got the salt and vinegar tater totes which were so surprisingly delicious, the goat cheese peppers, and the mushrooms - soooo good! For mains we got the fathers office burger which also very well done, and shared the cauliflower plate which was the only plate we weren’t over the moon about. The ipas and beer assortment were extensive and we were all very happy with the different beers we tried! Recommend the tropical IPA
Let me be honest….. I only stopped in for a quick beer with a friend. Never had the food but I heard it s very good. My experience with the beer was great. They have 20+ taps with lots of interesting kinds. I had a mango Heffinvise (spelling?). It was awesome. They have both inside and outside seating and a cool vibe
Not that many places leave you craving a bite consistently for over 20 years. We’re blessed in Santa Monica to have a place on Montana Ave offering fine dining type dishes at bar food prices. Say what you want about the burger, but you’re still talking about it. Smart thing to do is to try for yourself and form your own opinion. I can eat the tater tots daily and sometimes do. I appreciate that there are seasonal dishes and the attention paid to plating. Obviously no one will impress you more with their beer selection and the bartenders are some of the most knowledgeable in town. Never change FO.
*Good sized outdoor space on sidewalk and a few tables on the street. Easy to get a table on Saturday night (10 min wait and they do takeaway drinks) What can I say about Father’s Office that hasn’t already been said? We know the burger is INCREDIBLE AND MUST BE ORDERED, even if you’re thinking of branching out. Do not resist the burger. GET IT. Unless you’re a vegetarian. If that’s the case, I’d definitely recommend the spiced cauliflower with lentil hummus, mint, and yogurt. And the shoestring fries! I had sweet potato fry envy after placing our order but when the reg fries came, I was happy there were so many on the basket (they lasted longer). It also goes without saying that their beer selection is A+!
It is a small bar. Only for 21+. You order everything at the bar and then get seated. The food selection from the menu is not diverse but it is very tasty. Everything we had was amazing! And the beer was cold. They do have restrooms and the service ( even though there is not actual service) people tending were nice. You can park on the streets.
Father's Office is a must-visit for any burger lover. Their signature blue cheese burger is a juicy, flavorful masterpiece that will leave you craving more. The atmosphere is casual and relaxed, perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying a solo meal. Be prepared to wait, as this place is always packed, but it's definitely worth it! ■THE OFFICE BURGER・$21.00 Caramelized Onion, Bacon, Gruyére, Maytag Blue, Arugula. You can choose the doneness of your beef patty to suit your preference. ■“BASKET” OF FRITES・$8.00 with Garlic Parsley Aïoli. ■“BASKET” OF SWEET POTATO FRITES・$9.00 with Roasted Garlic & Cabrales Blue Cheese Aïoli. Many consider THE OFFICE BURGER to be one of the best burgers in Los Angeles, and it's a must-try for anyone visiting Father's Office!
This place has the best hamburgers on the planet! The french fries not so much unless you get the sweet potato fries those are pretty darn good. Great variety of beers it's a little dark in the place but that's a nice mood. But the burgers are always the best You need to stop by and try one!
Cozy, dark bar on Montana Ave known for its burger. Came here on a Sunday for dinner around 5:30 and they were already almost full capacity. Only 21 plus can enter and you need to show your ID to the doorman. You can grab menus at the front and grab whatever table or seat is available. You order both the food and drinks at the bar. They’ll give you the drinks immediately but they’ll give you a number for the food. You can also ask for water from the bartender and they have glasses of waters with lemons sitting behind them at the counter they’ll just hand to you. It took about 15 min for our food to come out. If you have a smaller appetite, I recommend splitting the office burger ($15) with a side of fries ($3.50). I like the burger done medium, although well-done is also a solid choice if you prefer your meat not red. No modifications can be made to any of the food and there’s no ketchup. However the sauce the fries come with is exceedingly tasty - it’s creamy and rich and complements the crisp saltiness of the fries so well. The burger comes with blue cheese, spinach, and an onion jam/chutney mix that incorporates sweet and salty all in one bite. The bun isn’t your typical burger bun either and might be too small to contain all the ingredients, but just roll with it. The ciders are really good and there’s a big beer menu. There is no table service and you’ll have to do everything yourself. When my dad spilled his beer onto my lap, the workers looked but kept moving about their business. We had to get more napkins ourselves at the bar. Parking is also a hit or miss depending on what time you go, and there’s no lot and you’re competing with patrons of the other stores/restaurants on Montana Ave. The music is pretty loud and it’s very dimly lit at night.
Unfortunately you can’t taste beers before ordering, second time there and after I asked to taste they said ‘no’. Unusual for a pub.
Okay. So, with reading all these great reviews, I decided to try this place out. Coming in, I was sort of disappointed with the interior. But, it was okay. It's 21+ so they check your I.D right when you come in. We ordered the burgers w/ frites (fries) aaaaaaaaand it was meh. It wasn't exceptionally great. They also don't have ketchup. Which is something I personally don't mind, but two people next to us asked for ketchup while we were there, and when they were told that they don't have ketchup... they were very disappointed. They also made the comments that not having ketchup is quite snobby. So, yeah. The place was alright. Would I come back? No.
This place introduced me to some great dishes, French country breakfast salad, kumimoto oysters, of course their signature hamburger and a terrific ever changing line up of craft beers. I love this place.
The food is good. It’s a little loud. But the real problem is spending $38 for a hamburger & fries and a glass of water w/tip. Restaurants in LA have it bad but that’s ridiculous. My friend added a beer and was above $50. No wonder people eat at home more.
Tried to bring my 78 year old aunt here for lunch after she wanted to see the closing Helms facility, but they don't do modifications. So much for seniors and the infirm. They have a demo they want and if you're not it there's the door. They'll be joining Helms soon I'm guessing.
