Opinions de JINYA Ramen Bar Santa Monica
Came back three times, the food was that good. Not a fan of spicy, yet the spice level was tasty/tantalizing rather than torched tongue. Those Spicy Tempura Shrimp--oh! So yummy!! Hubby devoured his ramen down to the last slurp. Lunches were in a quiet atmosphere; dinner time a bit more crowded, but still, prompt service and beautiful presentation. A "must return" for us!
In A Nutshell: -JINYA is a great place to grab some Japanese ramen & friend chicken. -They have a decent happy hour, which I recommend you checking out. -Their Japanese Fried Chicken was really tasty, crunchy & moist w/ huge pieces of chicken. -I also enjoyed their Chicken Ramen Broth, which fills you up on a cold winter evenings. Overall, the service here is really friendly & will come back again for sure.
Jinya was amazing and one of the best ramen shops I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting! The menu is extensive, there are lots of traditional meat, vegetarian and vegan options, and the ramen bowls are huge! And everything is very well priced for the size and offerings. All 4 of us were very happy with our choices, and each of our dishes was full of flavor and complexity. Perhaps the best part was being able to read the owner’s story on the menu, which gave more depth to the love they put into the menu and service. We were at the Santa Monica location which had indoor dining and a huge outdoor/covered patio area with a large gas firepit. I highly recommend a visit to Jinya!
This spot is a must-visit for anyone who loves Asian cuisine and great ramen. With a wide variety of menu options, including vegetarian ramens, there is something for everyone. The cozy seating by the fire pit adds to the experience, making it a perfect spot for a chilly weather.
Back at JINYA Ramen Bar in Santa Monica (first discovered it in Austin!) - they have multiple LA locations. Their spicy vegan ramen is one of the best vegetarian bowls I’ve had—filling, flavorful, and customizable. I usually ask them to skip the tofu and sometimes add bok choy or cabbage. They also serve meat options, but honestly, the veggie ramen stands on its own. Some people add egg to the bowl :) Indoor-outdoor seating is nice, service is friendly, and parking’s easy with a paid lot right behind. The menu seems to have changed slightly this visit —missed the little “slurping” message at the bottom of the bowl this time! Still, one of my favorite spots for casual ramen in LA.
I recently visited Jinya Ramen Bar and found the service to be exemplary. The broth I chose was exceptionally creamy, The toppings were fresh, and the tofu had a pleasing texture, with the chili oil providing a nice heat. Nevertheless, the richness of the broth became overwhelming after a few spoonfuls. This is not a reflection on the chef's skills; rather, it aligns with the intended style of this dish. If you appreciate a luxuriously creamy ramen experience, I encourage you to give it a try. Service: Excellent. Ramen: Perhaps a bit too rich for my preferences. 😊🍜
The food was delicious! We got the impossible gyoza / Impossible mini tacos/ pork and braised impossible Jinya buns / Their Jinya chicken Ramen/ their new seasonal watermelon and cucumber refreshers and to finish off the night the Panna cotta. The food was top tier ! For an hour before closing they were delightful and the service was great , I gave a 4 star overall. We felt forgotten for a moment but understandably they were busy. Will be recommending and going back again myself :)
Ambiance: This place is so cute, fire place outside was a cool feature. Inside, you can essentially see inside the kitchen. The tables are fairly close, but they work. Service: Didn't have to wait too long for a Saturday night, waited a bit after seating, but after that, it was smooth sailing. Food: I've never had ramen before this point, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I ordered the mild chicken ramen, but I should've gone with the spicy version. It wasn't bad at all, but I could've used the extra kick. Dumplings were really good, and I love that they have all the sauce on the table! Wasn't really a fan of the salad, though. Street parking is 2 hours, so plan accordingly.
Food is good, but they are sloooow! Been here twice when I was checking out the nearby temporary exhibit for V of BTS. No matter what size group you're in, it takes a while for the food and a very long time to flag someone to get you your bill. I've dined inside twice and haven't been outside in the patio, so maybe it's different out there. I've gotten their iced green tea ($3), hiyashi cold noodles ($18.80 -- a summer menu item), and the happy hour jinya bun ($4). The cold noodles are delicious on a hot day. The jinya bun is a slab of pork belly in a peking duck kind of thick bun (though not really a bun in the traditional Asian sense -- more of an open face bun) -- great to try, but can get filling if you're ordering this plus a full bowl of ramen or something else. I had parked on the street nearby, so scored some free 2 hour parking. There's limited paid street parking closer to Jinya, but I don't recall seeing an actual lot for this place. Also note that they only have one restroom - single stall for all genders, so you may have to wait a while if there's a lot of people at Jinya.
So this is the review of this place. 1. Decoration 7/10 it had a good decoration, but a couple of decorations needed a little bit of love. 2. Service 9/10 the service was very good and very polite 3. Ambiance 7/10 it had a good vibe, but not so many people during the day 4. Food 6.5/10 now this one was a bit hard because the crispy chicken was a bit raw ?? Could be dangerous and the spinach was cold (look at the picture of the two different colors in the chicken), but the ramen was good 5. Cleanest 6.5/10 OK this place needs a bit of clean up in certain areas. Yes, I do recommend only for ramen.
Seriously gross and rotten food tonight. My kid even said that the silky vegan ramen smelled like eggs and it did. Ordered the seaweed salad (clearly not made in-house), broccolini, corn tempura and silky vegan ramen. Seaweed salad came on rotten lettuce which I picked out (see photo). Broccolini was actually perfect. Corn tempura was strangely flavorless so I had to use the hot sauce on the table which didn’t do anything except set my mouth on fire My kid dropped the seaweed salad on the floor and the manager was kind and replaced it except the lettuce was rotten Silky ramen came and looked beautiful but my kid refused to eat it bc it was too spicy, and my mouth was still burning from the corn tempura so I couldn’t tell if the ramen was too spicy or not esp bc it had this brown sauce on it too. Our server was nowhere to be found for 30 mins so we were helped by the very sweet pregnant server who was working there and brought us a plain bowl of broth, but they still put the brown sauce on top and my kid wouldn’t eat it. I tried it and it was extremely salty so I get it, prob too much fish sauce or whatever. When our server came back I told him how the lettuce was rotten and asked him to take it off the bill, but he refused, and I had to speak with the manager. They did and I only tipped 10%. I just can’t anymore. Two stars for the nice female manager and the pregnant server.
