Opinions de Satdha Santa Monica
Gunn is an amazing, thoughtful, and creative chef! I rarely write reviews, but Satdha is absolutely my #1 favorite restaurant in LA, and this place is a must try, especially for vegetarians and gluten free folks. The endive cups, snap pea salad, and beet-dyed noodles are my absolute favorites, though I honestly love all the dishes. They're all so unique, bursting with freshness and vibrant flavors. The names of the dishes may not sound sexy, but I promise you, the taste is truly delightful. Each bite feels like a little celebration, a joyful experience. I just adore and appreciate this restaurant and all the people involved.
Pure, pure simplicity at it’s best. Me and my friend were mildly surprised to see this mid-sized place be so crowded for being Vegan. The dishes we ordered were made with utmost care and the spice level was so elegantly balanced. We ordered Pad Thai and Green Curry - two really common dishes one can find at any Thai restaurant - but I would say that I’ve never had anything so light and tasteful anywhere.
Yes, go here. There is a wait & it's worth it. Staff is kind, attentive, & thorough. The drinking water is delicious. Get the 'fish eggplant', with rice & broccoli. The food is very tasty. Great Kambucha soup!! Mango sticky rice also good Also got other appetizers, I don't know the name, but also great! Enjoy!!
Enjoyed everything we ordered. I ordered the Kambocha soup. Wife ordered the Green Papaya Salad We ordered the Thai Fried "Chicken" and Khao Soi Ramen to share. The "chicken" comes with a refreshing cucumber side. I'd recommend eating it between bites of "chicken."
I miss Satdha! The kitchen staff is the best! I haven’t had Thai food that even comes close to the meals I’ve had here. Creative, efficient, and true professionals. Clean and delicious food, made with love. 💜
Though we liked only 2 out of 3 dishes, it was an amazing experience. 3rd dish may not be up to our taste but it could be delicious for others. Definitely check out their different dishes and must try green curry fried rice. We also ordered a traditional dish - Pad Thai, to adjust our expectations. It was just great. Nothing fancy or special touch. Just simple as it should be. Service was also great. Our hostess was polite and patient with us because we had a lot of questions about their items on the menu. I would definitely go there again and try other items. I'd recommend others too.
THE BEST, I’ve been going here for years it’s always consistent and amazing. BEST yellow curry
this place feels like home. best Thai food in the world, in my humble opinion. i love the kitchen and staff, chef/owners. it makes my taste buds so happy. i actually love everything on the menu. i’ve been a satisfied diner since day one. i wake up in the morning thinking of everything on the menu and wish i could eat there every day. Gunn is the perfect chef. everything is perfection. i love you all at Sadtha!!!
Flavorful for plant-based! Highly recommend pad thai and spring rolls.
I didn't have much time but I just grabbed to go their warm pumpkin soup and it gave me more reasons to look forward to come and order more. So yummy & perfect on point spiciness! See you soon!
Always on the lookout for new vegan spots, and this one did not disappoint! The food was absolutely delicious, and the flavors were fantastic. I highly recommend it and can’t wait to come back! ❤️
This is simply marvelous and delicious food prepared with wonderful Thai flavors that joyously doesn't involve any animal products. If you still enjoy the company of your Neanderthal cavemen friends who insist upon killing something to have a fine meal you can take them here and conveniently neglected tell them it's vegan and it won't miss the dead body. if you like Thai flavors this food it's simple and wonderful. The restaurant is in an unassuming mini mall off of Lincoln boulevard simple and efficient. We visited on a Monday night so it was not as crowded as the few times I've been here before. Considering the slow evening the service was a bit lack luster, but accurate.
here to say - try the Meang Kham!! I rarely like salads, but loved it - it’s crispy, has well-balanced flavors and the tamarind chutney adds the perfect zing! Loved the coconut sticky rice w/ mango for desert too. Other dishes were decent, but not particularly memorable. The Tom-Kha was a little too coconut-y for my taste, and could use more lemongrass.
We decided to check out Satdha because we were looking to try an innovative Thai menu. You wouldn’t find most dishes on their menu in standard Thai restaurants around LA. We went in for dinner and liked the ambiance of the place. Parking was convenient because they had their own parking lot with enough parking spaces for their capacity. We ordered the mung bean croquettes, the mung bean pad Thai and their special khao soi ramen. All of them were made fresh, were light unlike most other Thai places, and were healthy as they had a generous portion of vegetables and protein. We loved the croquettes and pad Thai but the khao soi was lacking in flavor for us. However they delivered on their innovative vegan take on Thai food. We would visit again just to try out more dishes!
A place to remember, experience and, if possible, bring loved ones. This restaurant has plenty of options for gluten free and/or veggie fans, yet it's also a place to go for those that are not. The food is delicious, the atmosphere is relaxing and the staff is inviting. Also, service is fast! I can't wait to go again!
Wow, that was delicious! We ordered the spring roll, mung bean pad Thai, a rice dish with spinach soup. Everything was excellent!
Absolutely outstanding food. The Pad Thai, the green curry, massaman curry and beet dyed noodles were all delicious!
The Thai dishes here are both flavorful and distinct, and the warm atmosphere makes the experience even better. The endive cups were outstanding, and the mung bean pad Thai was packed with amazing taste. Such a welcoming place with food that truly stands out. I will definitely be returning.
Amazing Thai vegetarian food in a modern, relaxed setting. My friend and I first split the Snap Pea Thai Salad. It was delicious. Everything was delicious! I then had the Beet Dyed Noodles. I consider Thai food to be spicy, however this dish was not spicy yet had a great flavor. The taste of beet was subdued and the presentation. My friend had what the server said was the newest dish on the menu, which is the Souther Fried Thai "Chicken." It was made with Chicken of the Forest Mushroom. OMG! After trying that I really wish I had selected that dish! Amazing!
My favorite go to vegan Thai dinner. Gourmet food served in a casual restaurant. A gem in Los Angeles, free parking. Excellent food, highly recommended. Every dish was made with care and the ingredients are of high quality. Highly recommended. Chef is trained in the best culinary school in New York. Her constant passion to make better food is clearly reflected in her cooking. Each time I’ve been here, I can see how her food has stepped up to the next level.
The first time we came here the flavors were so subtle. I didn't even notice what I was missing but the second time the flavors really started to stand out as being unique and extremely well balanced and exquisite, and I was able to taste the vegetables themselves. We love the snap pea salad, and the Ong Choi, the Tom, Yum soup, as well as the yellow curries and lions mane fried chicken. The catfish is good too and filling.
Wonderful dining experience, very subtle and unique flavors and ingredients. Highly recommend even if you’re not vegan
EXCELLENT FOOD, LOVELY STAFF AND OWNER. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! New Yorker visiting in May with non vegan friends and they loved it too. I’m vegan with access to some of the best NYC vegan food and this rivals many of them. The menu is varied, delicious, authentic and reasonable. The atmosphere is welcoming, casual, clean and simple. We met the owner and chefs and they were so so lovely. I’d be here regularly if I lived close by.
Had a great time here ! I am vegan and my cousin is gluten free & vegetarian , and they had so many great options ! The staff was so kind in helping us decide on what to order. The food was so flavorful and delicious with great portion sizes, we got the pad Thai and the turmeric curry ramen , plus 2 hard kombucha on draft. I also grabbed a pack of vegan Chocolate chip cookies on the way out that were fantastic. Plus, it was as super close to our hotel which was amazing ! A great vegan spot in Santa Monica ! Would highly recommend.
We recently went on Thanksgiving weekend and were not disappointed. The food is delicious, warm, tasty and filling. We ordered the pad Thai, croquettes, and the Thai peanut salad which was so good. We definitely recommend this place and will be back!
Best vegan thai restaurant in Los Angeles. Amazing plant based thai dishes that will make you feel like you are visiting a distant land. The owners are super nice and the service is always great! Some of the best green curry and pad Thai I have ever eaten and they have a Mung bean vermicelli with peanut sauce that is insane. The croquettes, endive cups and jackfruit pâté make for great vegan appetizers. Of course the sweet and spice papaya salad is a must with any dish.

Very amazing dinner 🤤 the service top notch and flavorful dinner. Most plant based restaurants rely on the novelty of being plant based. This one delivers with excellent taste and quality. Will definitely be back.

Been here many times. My absolute favorite dish is the Catfish Eggplant! It's amazing and a real standout. For appetizers, the mung bean croquette is a good option. The endive cups are a hit or miss with different people. There's a lot of options so everyone can find something they like. The misses for us are the Pad Thai (mung bean thread version) and the coconut sticky rice with mango dessert. Bonus, they have a small parking lot so that is very convenient.
My wife and I are not vegan or vegetarians but good food is good food so we enjoy experiencing it as much as we can. My wife, who is Thai, brought me here after a friend of hers took her and we had a wonderful experience from both the staff and the food. Its a very relaxed environment from the moment you walk in being greeted by the staff to sitting at your table overlooking the ongoings of Lincoln Blvd just outside. I highly recommend this if you are in the mood for some delicious Thai food and even if you are not vegetarian it's a wonderful place to dine with dishes that will delight.
I had an okay meal here, but I feel like this is a one and done for me. The red beat vermicelli noodles were good but not substantial enough for me. I was happy that they weren’t oily, but wish there was more tofu and other ingredients mixed in. Brussel sprouts were nice but relatively small. Bok choy was okay but unremarkable. Ramen noodle dish with tempeh was maybe my least favorite.
It was my first time trying plant based Thai restaurant. I was quite amazed with the preparation using plant’s ingredients. I had pad Thai and overall dish was flavorful but the thing I didn’t like was the dish had things separated out like peanuts, white mushrooms instead of being mixed in the dish. Also had their organic IPA which was delicious. Overall great experience.
The food tastes real good + flavorful + clean + fresh. Thanks for fellow Yelpers gave this place a try and all the dishes were amazing! A lot of unique Thai dishes! Loved the endive cups! The portions are small but prices are on the cheaper side. The only down side was me and my friend was very very bloated after this meal like it was painful. We both had this as our first real meal so we're sure it's after we ate the food. It sucks we really liked the food but the bloated feelings that came as a result makes us not want to go anymore as of now.

Food was really good. Without already knowing it was vegan, no one would have guessed or cared. The only issue is their service is really slow. I know the food is made fresh, so it takes a while to get to your table after ordering. But for a place thats not very big, are server took a very long time to come take our order, as well, even bring us the check after asking for it.
The food here is delicious for the most part. We’ve eaten here several times and enjoyed everything. This time, we tried an item from their special Mothers Day menu, took one bite and did not like the flavor or texture. When we tried to explain to both the server and the manager, we were told, “These are traditional Thai dishes and we don’t allow you to sample to see if you like it.” If this the policy, so be it, however, I’ve never eaten at any restaurant where I couldn’t return something I tasted and didn’t enjoy. We had six other dishes that were great. Our bill was $114. A $9 item that wasn’t eaten could have been removed or replaced.
After looking for gluten free food around us we got take out from here. I’m thinking we got unlucky as I don’t have the same experience as others. Portion sizes were way too small, we ordered Pad Thai, Prik King, Chinese Broccoli and Ong Choy. Pad Thai was average it had probably more bean sprouts than noodles, Prik King was the best one but not enough of it, Chinese broccoli started as the fav then turned out the worse as the blackened parts made it too bitter to eat, Ong Choy promised so much delivered too little. Also main courses don’t come with rice so you have to add it. What I like about here is that they don’t use fake meats, and most of their food can be made gluten free. Just for these two reasons I’ll try this place again.

I have been coming to Satdha for years but the last two times I have eaten here, the food has not been as good as it use to be. My favorite dish, Beet Dyed Noodles isn't as flavorful as it use to be and one time it was very salty. The Massaman Curry was bland. The Snap Pea Salad was still really good and so was the Catfish/Eggplant Dish. I don't know if they have a new chef, cooking staff or new owner but someone needs to address the food quality. The wait staff was so nice but it did take awhile for them to even approach our table. Very sad because I use to love this restaurant.
I had the Green Curry. It taste OK, but disappointed with the small portion size and lack of pieces of eggplant. As you can see from the picture, there is only 2 maybe 3 small pieces of eggplant inside. When I mentioned this, they refused to address the issue. Additionally, the prices are overpriced, and the menu prices on Google are lower than the restaurant menu prices. (See pics and google screenshots below.) This will be my final visit!
I stopped by after hearing good things about this place, but it really didn’t live up to the hype. The service was surprisingly slow, even simple items took far too long to arrive and when the food finally arrived, it tasted just okay, missing the bold thai flavors. As someone who enjoys vegetarian and vegan Thai food, I honestly feel that many regular Thai restaurants offer better plant-based options with stronger flavor and faster service. I’m giving it 2 stars because I liked their interior vibe and food presentation. Hope they can take this as constructive feedback and make things better going forward!
Nice to see an all vegan place. Good gluten-free options clearly marked. But this place does not taste very authentic. It’s catered toward non-Thai people. Nothing is spicy. They don’t have adequate hot sauce. The curries are overly coconut flavored you can’t really taste any of the curry pastes. Portions are small. I ordered the pad Thai and it was like half a portion. They take forever taking your order here. There are way better Vegan Thai restaurants all over LA. Do not recommend this place overpriced not that authentic.

Well, it’s a mixed bag here, but mostly negative. I went here with a friend since our usual Thai spot on Lincoln is closed Tuesdays. When we spend $50 there we have tons of left overs and feel very full after. Not here. The luxury sports cars in the parking lot should have been a sign to expect a different class. Now $55 bucks for two people at a restaurant is probably normal, but the reality was that the meals were more like lite appetizers. Others dishes we saw others had also seemed skimpy. For what ever reason, Posh Posh somehow equates to small portions to imply high quality. Maybe it’s a greediness thing. Fact is, that after going to dinner, I walked away hungry and made food when I got home. As far as taste of food, the Lion Mushroom (chicken?) was absolutely delicious (5star) as well as the cabbage side. It was only 6 small pieces and very tiny side, but very well done. The ginger drinks were also wonderful. Unfortunately the quality of all that was grossly offset with the most mediocre (worst) coconut soup I’ve probably ever had. A taste of bland disappointment. Also, it was a rather small bowl, definitely not for sharing, though we did. It was like they weren’t even trying and didn’t even care. Then I asked for some hot sauce to improve the taste, and they had the nerve to charge extra for hot sauce. Seriously? You need to be greedy and make money off of hot sauce. Sheesh. Shame because the other stuff was great and that took from the experience. Overall, we ordered two meals with stingy portions. If you’re an average Joe looking for a tasty filling meal, don’t go here!! If you got the money to spend $50 on a person or have a rather small appetite, you might really enjoy this, just stay away from the coconut soup. Overall, it was laughable that I left rather hungry and had to cook at home after, which is a first for me. (On a side note: Waitress was really nice and polite.) I’ll never go here again though.
My wife insisted for months that we go here, and we finally managed. We don't know if their regular cook was out sick but it was disappointing. The appetizer was fine. Not extraordinary but good/different. My wife liked her green curry but it was not spectacular, she could have gotten the exact same thing anywhere else. I on the other hand got their fried "chicken" special, and it was the worst meal I've had in a long time. Just burnt deep fried batter, 7 undersized blob pieces of it. A microwaved Morningstar chikn' patty has more flavor and a better texture. The waitress never asked how the meal was (now I regret the 15% tip we left), just if we were "OK" and needed the check or dessert. They must have been short staffed and asked her to do other tasks because nobody cared whether my food was edible. Also can't believe they charge $20 for that "dish".
The $20 fried "chicken"special is actually deep fried batter. R u serious. 7 tiny pieces. $16 spring roll. 1 roll not 2 not 4. One roll seriously. No rice. The only Thai restaurant West of the Mississippi that doesn't give rice with an almost $20 curry. Double bottomed bowls look bigger on the outside. It's just 3rd of the cup of the portions. Parking is a dice roll as well. To sum up. It is just hooooorible.
