Opinions de Seaside on the Pier Santa Monica
We got to Santa Monica pier a bit early and was hungry for breakfast. Thankfully we walked by this place and they were serving brunch! We were seated on the rooftop. My kids got the breakfast burrito and I got the veggie omelette. Pros: 1. The food was good. Just the right portions and it tasted fresh. They didn't eat their salsa that came with the burrito so I tried it... It was really flavorful and I gobbled it all up! 2. Service was very friendly. 3. Rooftop views were nice. 4. Prices were fair. Cons: 1. Bathroom could use a little work. Overall, I'm glad we walked by this place and they had their sign out. I did not feel like hiking up that big hill just for breakfast foods! I would eat here again and definitely ask for more of that salsa.
I had the Shrimp po boy. Very friendly staff and atmosphere. Its one of the first restaurants as you walk onto the pier and have good happy hour specials. specials.
Yummm…. So delicious. I live in LA and come to the pier often but it was my first time trying this restaurant. Everything was so good. Loved the view and loved the vibe. The staff seemed happy and like they enjoyed their work. It elevated the experience. Food arrived promptly and don’t have any complaints.
Amazing burgers right on the pier! If you're looking for a great spot with a solid atmosphere and delicious food directly on the Santa Monica Pier, Seaside on the Pier is a fantastic choice. What stood out: • The Burgers: We had the bacon burger and the jalapeño burger, and both were excellent. • Flavor: Everything was perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. • The Bun: I have to highlight the bun – it was beautifully toasted to a perfect crisp, which really made the burger stand out. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience. Definitely a recommended stop if you’re hanging out around the pier!
Fantastic coconut shrimp and Fish & chips! Their pizza was also very good! Prices very fair, great service and very clean. It waa a great find for a sit down dinner on the peir. They also have a full bar. Highly recommend!! Our waiter's name was Carlos and he was perfect. Thanks for a great and memorable meal!
The only thing I didn’t like is that the menu advertises a fried fish as the “catch of the day” so I got super excited. But when I asked what was the catch for today, they said tilapia. And we all know most tilapia isn’t caught. Besides that, this place is solid, I honestly had very low expectations given that it’s in a touristy area. But the lobster was yummy and had an exceptional price. There’s a rooftop and you can enjoy an ocean view from there or their patio which is also nice. Prices are fair, service was super friendly and nice and even though the rooftop was basically empty they made sure to always be checking on us to make sure we didn’t need anything. We spent $81 for two dishes and 2 drinks. One of them being the pineapple which actually tasted really good.
the family and I had a late lunch/early dinner here at seaside. it was not busy at all but that's probably because of the time of day. so given the slow business at the time the service had no problem keeping up and was quite attentive. the food came out quickly and was delicious. I had the seafood pasta Alfredo linguine with scallops, shrimp, & lobster. the wife had the shrimp po'boy which was also really nice. the kiddos had the cheese pizza & garlic bread. which i also tried. my oldest daughter didn't care for how sauce heavy it was but personally I liked it and the crust was nice too. we got the coconut shrimp for an appetizer which we all liked. which is kind of weird because my wife doesnt like coconut but she still liked it! I also thought there was a lot of reasonably priced options for where the place is located
The view is fantastic, and the service is on point. 3 floors to choose from, inside or outside seating. Best Mexican shrimp cocktail I've ever had in a restaurant. Pricey, but worth it. Honestly it's 4*, but having a life-size Arnie from T2, how can you not give it an extra one just on that alone. Next time I'm in town, " I'll Be Back ".
Just came to have a beer, large choice, happy hour with a $6 pint of Kona is nice! Nice beach vibe, I guess it's mostly tourists who come here, but you feel like you're on vacation here. My review is purely based on my experience, I can't judge the food or the service on rush hours
I spent an afternoon around the pier, and this seemed to be one of the recommended places for food. Seating was tight due to it raining, but just as the rain stopped my food came out, so I seated myself outside. My food was good but not life-altering; I got the catch of the day. I had a couple pigeons join me....it was peaceful out of the inside crowd. The downside, is the salt in the shakers was wet and wouldn't come out very well.
It was a beautiful day and loved sitting outside. The service was fine. The food was sub par. I got the fish tacos, they were not bad but not the best. The fish tasted like frozen out of a box. The lobster roll was tiny. The three rum colada tasted like it had no alcohol in it. It was $20 and the pineapple is not fully hollowed out so it is a very small drink for that price.
PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! No wonder the restaurant was not busy at all... Service and atmosphere were great! Funny and entertaining staff but the food was not good. One of the dishes we ordered was Margarita Pizza and it was the worst pizza we ever had. It was worst than the frozen pizzas that you get at grocery stores. The Chicken Ceasar Salad was as bad as the pizza. The chicken that they put in the salad was from a freezer. Some weren't even defrost all the way. It tasted like a rubber. Not worth your money.
I have to agree with others who left one-star reviews. Set your expectations low because it really was that disappointing. I will discourage my out-of-town guests not to waste their money here. The only upside about this place is the location. The prices are on the higher side. Unfortunately, the food quality doesn’t come close to the value proposition. I ordered the fish burger, and both the fish and the bun were completely dry. There was no moisture or flavor — just bland and overcooked. The seafood pasta didn’t fare much better. It was dull, almost flavorless, and the seafood clearly wasn’t fresh. It had that telltale texture and taste of something pulled from a frozen bag instead of a local catch. Even the cocktail missed the mark. It tasted thick and syrupy. Overall, there’s not much to come back for here, except maybe the view. Everything else fell flat.
I genuinely wanted to love this place. Honestly, I gave it multiple chances — with all respect and with all my heart. I adore spending time on the Santa Monica Pier. There’s so much to do, so much energy and fun. And to be completely fair, Seaside on the Pier does have one thing they do exceptionally well: the cocktails. Their Piña Colada served inside a fresh pineapple? Incredible. One of my absolute favorite drinks on the whole pier. It’s refreshing, delicious, and honestly a must-try if you’re in the area. And the rooftop patio — the view from up there is stunning. You can see the entire pier, the ocean, the sunset. It’s the perfect place to sit, relax, and enjoy the moment. If we’re talking about cocktails and the view, this spot is amazing. But… anything beyond cocktails is a completely different story. We tried ordering food here several times, on different days, weekdays and weekends — and the experience was consistently disappointing. They advertise their “famous lobster roll” right at the entrance to lure people in. But that lobster roll is almost impossible to eat. Truly. We tried it more than once just to be fair, and every time it was the same. Burgers? No. Fries? I honestly don’t understand how a busy restaurant can mess up fries that badly. It doesn’t matter when you come — morning, evening, weekday, weekend — the situation never changes. Drinks are great, views are fantastic… but the food is just not edible. And what frustrates me the most is that this restaurant has all the potential to be the star of the pier. They have huge foot traffic, they have plenty of staff, they have the location, the rooftop, the ocean breeze, the vibe — everything. Yet it feels like no one is actually interested in elevating the place to the level it could easily reach. So here’s my honest summary: ⭐ One extra star for the cocktails — they really are worth it. But if you want to enjoy a nice meal with the view, grab food somewhere else and bring it with you. Come here only for the drinks and the scenery.
Staff isn't too friendly, everyone we encountered seemed to be a little bothered. Super disappointing food. My sister ordered the seafood pasta and the seafood seemed to have just been frozen, i had ordered the Baja Chicken salad, the cheese at the end tasted moldy and the chicken is literally boiled shredded chicken with absolutely no seasoning, the only thing that had flavor was the bit of salad dressing it had but even that didntt taste good. It seemed like a salad you might get at a hospital cafeteria. She got the drink that comes in a pineapple for $20 and I had ordered a diet pepsi that I later found out was regular pepsi because my sugar levels went way up!! (343 an hour after eating) We spent a little over $70 for bad service, bad food, the only thing that was sorta nice was the rooftop view. Should've gone to the restaurant next to it!
I almost never write reviews, but this time I feel morally obligated to warn anyone considering this place. We ordered two burgers and a seafood pasta. The waiting time was absurdly long, with no explanation or apology. When the food finally arrived, it was a complete disaster. The burger was dry, empty, nearly raw, and borderline inedible. It tasted like it was thrown together without any care, skill, or basic understanding of cooking. I have genuinely never been served something this bad in my life. This place has no standards, no respect for customers, and no business serving food. Save your money, your time, and your stomach — do not eat here. This is, without exaggeration, one of the worst dining experiences I have ever had.
Save your money. To start, host starts walking us to our table then suddenly stops, turns around, hands us the menus and tells us to go sit next to the other people then walks away. So we go sit ourselves. Server takes about 20 minutes to come just to get our drinks order. Then another 20 minutes to come take our food order. Someone else delivers our food after another 25 minutes. You can tell nothing is fresh. I ordered fish tacos, the other person in my party ordered a burger. Burger and fish definitely have been frozen. Fish tacos-terrible sauce, wet tortillas, and just overall bad flavor. Burger-under seasoned, wet bun, and bad texture. Best things we consumed were the beans that came as a side for the tacos. On top of all this, server was nonexistent. Then when he made his appearance finally the first thing out of his mouth, "are you done or what? You want the check?" Just save your money and go somewhere else.
You guys need to get your shit together, almost 45 minutes to be acknowledged, another 15-20 minutes to get the drinks, my Jack Daniel’s with diet with no gas at all, flat, I have to clean my own table, get up and pay the bill…. bathroom all messy and dirty… that’s why many people was walking out of the roof top, so sad because is not a bad place but many people choose your place to come and spend money and your employees obviously don’t care of the management or owner don’t care…
Every server on every floor judged me, and I honestly felt discriminated against. I came in with my child and asked the first floor staff if I could order drinks. He told me to go up to the rooftop (third floor). Once I got there, the server immediately asked if we were all 21. I explained I had a child and was just following instructions from downstairs. He told me to go down to the second floor instead. At the second floor, I sat down and told the host I wanted drinks. He told me I had to order food to be seated. I explained I was sent down from the rooftop, and before that, up from the first floor. He looked confused and even said he didn’t know why the rooftop server said it was 21+ only clearly contradicting what I had just been told. No one seemed to have any clue what the actual policy was. When I finally got my drink, it came in a pineapple that was clearly used—no inner rind, looked dried out and old. It was not fresh, and I fully believe they reused it. Then, to top it off, the server circled the tip line on my receipt like he assumed I wouldn’t tip. After being sent in circles, judged by multiple staff members, and served what felt like trash he was right. This place is disorganized, inconsistent, and the way I was treated felt personal. I won’t be back Update: walking out I seen FRESH produce stored in the hall way outside the ELEVATOR not STORED at the proper temperature. Also I seen someone with the the same drink but hers had the middle rind and I asked for a photo so I can show as reference. They really gave me an old used pineapple and I feel sick writing this.
