Opinions de Vito Restaurant Santa Monica
An overall incredible dining experience. Light jazz hums in the background, the staff is genuinely warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between intimate and lively. The food alone could warrant an entire review of its own. The chef has been with the restaurant since it opened—starting as a young dishwasher before discovering a love for cooking—and now brings remarkable care and thoughtfulness to every dish. I had the lasagna, my husband ordered the veal parm, and both were absolutely outstanding. We truly can’t recommend this place enough. To top it all off, the wine list is wonderfully extensive and thoughtfully curated.
Great old school Italian restaurant. I tried their Spaghetti Della Casa, and now it's my favorite pasta. The sauce is rich and creamy, and packed with shrimp--and flavor! Their bartender Michael makes the best espresso martini I've ever had. Their tiramisu is heavenly. Service is attentive, the atmosphere is warm, and the owner is there making sure everything is perfect...which it is!
A cute little restaurant with best Italian fare. Our bunch enjoyed wonderful drinks, salads and pastas. I even got chef to create a vegetarian light pasta and I would recommend anyone to try this. We met the owner Cynthia and Jason and they ensured we had a great time at their restaurant.
Our server, Sean, was very friendly and helpful when ordering. The restaurant itself makes you feel at home. We came during happy hour and we were not disappointed! Everything was delicious, and the portion sizes were just right. Nothing felt too oily... food was simple and fresh. Pasta cooked to al dente! The tiramisu tasted so authentic. We will definitely become regulars whenever we have a craving for Italian food.
Best Caesar salad in Los Angeles in my honest opinion. They make the dressing right there at the table for you. And speaking of the atmosphere it’s old world, charm, and aesthetic. That makes it an extra treat when you dine in. The waiters are old-school as well dressed in ties and aprons. They also have a back patio they added post Covid. That’s a nice addition to the restaurant. Every dish I’ve had here has been excellent and highly recommend this place. Thank you Vito’s for being around!
Such a amazing Italian resturant in the heart of Santa Monica. This place is delicious and had great service. All the pasta we had tasted fresh and we loved the table side salad option! We also finish the night off with a carrot cake dessert.
5 Star Review 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 Vito in Santa Monica exceeded our expectations! While traveling, we stumbled upon this gem and were lucky enough to meet the new owners. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and the service was impeccable. Enrique was absolutely amazing, going above and beyond to make our evening special. The food was divine, especially the gnocchi and the chicken Vito. And the desserts? We couldn't resist the triple chocolate fantasy cake, the moist carrot cake, and the decadent lemon white chocolate cake – each one a masterpiece! It was a true melt-in-your-mouth experience!! Even if you've already had dinner, you'll want to go to Vitos just for the desserts! We can't wait to come back again!
This was so good! The bread was soft and warm, the appetizers were great, and the pasta was amazing! Everything was great.
Vito strikes again!! I've been to both Mother Wolf and Felix in the past month, and can confidently say that Vito has BETTER pasta than both these places! I didn't even know it was possible to make gnocchi with as light and pillowy a texture as Vito does, and the pesto sauce is the creamiest and most delectable that's ever graced these tastebuds. The wait staff is incredibly friendly and fits right in with the cozy Italian atmosphere (though it can get a little loud in the main dining room). Vito himself also assured me that the entire menu is keto and gluten friendly-- I don't know how they do it! Anyone looking for a 5 star classic Italian meal must come here.

Highly recommended. No hipster vibe but a classy local establishment. I had no idea about this hidden gem. Great service , full bar, perfectly spaced seating They do not have a kid menu but they were able to make a small butter pasta dish for my young one We will be back for sure! #eatLocal #supportSmallBusiness
Have enjoyed this authentic old school Italian restaurant for over 30 years. Had my first Caesar salad here and it will always be my best
Vito’s is a one-of-a-kind establishment in Santa Monica! It’s an old school, upscale Italian restaurant- not trying too hard- just winning! Expect decadent portions and incredible service. I’ve only been to restaurants like Vito’s on the east coast. Every time I go to Vito’s, I have an excellent meal! We typically eat at the bar and enjoy great service, ambiance, and talk with other repeat diners. Only once, did I experience slow service because they were so packed with only one person behind the bar- but the food was still excellent and I forgave them and returned for the normal experience ever since. I love eating at Vito’s! Really fun to take people here for their first time.
I had an outstanding experience once again at Vito Italian Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. Every dish felt thoughtfully crafted, from the appetizers to the entrées, and it was clear the kitchen takes real pride in what they serve. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and full of charm. Whether you’re there for a casual meal or a special night out, Vito strikes the perfect balance between cozy and elegant. It’s the kind of place where you instantly feel comfortable. The service was exceptional as well. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, making sure everything was perfect without ever feeling intrusive. Their hospitality truly elevated the experience. Overall, Vito is a standout restaurant in every way—fantastic food, great ambiance, and top-notch service. They make us feel like family. I will return again and again!
When I think Italian food, I think of Vito’s. A sign of a great restaurant is how long the help has worked there. Waiters average over 10 years. They know what they are doing. There are fewer Italian restaurants and now Guido’s is gone. Hope Vito’s is around for a long time. Enjoy the owners, who work with you for the perfect table. Always have a drink at their bar. They have a Happy Hiur at the bar. Bartenders are on their game serving your favorite drink. You can also eat at their bar, if you prefer. Food is consistently Great. When we get together with friends, they ask to go here. Thank you Vito’s for your dependability of great Italian cuisine and atmosphere.
For old school Italian tuxedo polite service, Hearty delicious portions, Unique, Italian daily specials, A home made dessert cart to die for This is your place. Not to mention, it’s romantic Moody luxurious setting. Also a fantastic happy hour, cocktails and specials enjoyed by locals on a daily basis. Just a great all-around atmosphere for date night, families, and singles. World class wine list ! Vitos also accommodates private birthday parties in corporate events in other private rooms in the restaurant. You won’t be disappointed!! Attentive, friendly quality service!!
I’m upset that I don’t remember the gentleman’s name who waited on us, but the service was impeccable. I was indecisive on whether I wanted the pesto or the carbonara & he surprised me with both. Also put me on to a new drink to add to my rotation—the French martini. Very friendly. Great environment!
Food was DELICIOUS, atmosphere was cozy. Staff is very friendly and welcoming! Overall, our waiter Thomas truly made this dining experience extra special for me on my birthday and had our table cracking up lol thank you for a wonderful night :) IG: @jonibologna
I’ve lived around the corner from this place for 8 years and honestly…I owe them an apology. This is a hidden gem I’ve been walking past like a clown. Consider those 8 years officially wasted, because now that I’ve been, I fully plan on becoming a regular and learning everyone’s names, What I ate: Lasagna – perfect. Like, “this is now my personality,” perfect. House Spaghetti – absolutely incredible. I would fight for this. Meatball – a must order. Don’t share. Get your own. Extra Dirty Martini – delicious and dangerously easy to drink. Chianti – also perfect; my glass was empty way too fast. 20/10, must go. If you see someone here looking way too happy for a Tuesday night, it’s probably me.
Went here for 1st time on new year's eve, seating was tight and you did feel the service was rushed a bit but the food was amazing, ambience was lovely and the servers were nice. Definitely want to go back again.

Great vintage Italian restaurant vibe. Food was authentic and delicious. Service was very quick and attentive. Definitely will be back next time I am in town.
Amazing food and service every time I’m here! The arrabiata is SOO GOOD. The salmon is fantastic too. It literally melts in your mouth. I usually start with the ceasar salad, which they make for you tableside. Seriously everything at Vito is delicious!!!!

Vito's, hands down the BEST Italian restraunt I've been too. My Aunt and I were looking where to eat and came here. THE FOOD!!!! AMAZING!!! I normally stick to Fettuccine with broccoli. My Aunt had their lasagna. THE FLAVOR!!!!! Raymond... WOW!!! We loved him!! Friendly, inviting, funny and we even got a hug when we left. Love it so much we're coming back this Thursday and bringing my cousin, her daughter. Definitely 5 stars all around!!!
This was an impromptu stop for dinner and the place is the epitome of “Old School” Italian. Red naugahyde, dark wood, and low lighting are the hallmarks of this place. I actually like this vibe, but as I’ve mentioned before, we generally sit at the bar, and by 5pm on Monday the bar was full. My particular seat had a pole on the right and a lamp in front of me that was attached and so I felt quite squeezed. Also my bar stool was wobbly and lopsided. Other than that, the place seemed a little old and in need of a little sprucing but that makes sense, since it’s been there for 42 years. It is definitely a local favorite and you could tell. The service at the bar was excellent. JJ the bartender was attentive and knowledgeable. He gave us great suggestions on the extensive menu. We opted for roasted peppers and Calamari for apps. Both were amazing. We had the Cesar salad for 2 (they can’t make it tableside at the bar - but usually do) the Cesar was incredible. The dressing was light and very flavorful - just the way I like it 😍 My man had the cioppino which had great flavor and a lot of seafood. He did wish they had a crusty piece of Italian bread for dipping. They did have nice rolls but he would have preferred the prior. I had the filet with mushrooms and it was perfectly cooked, very tender and amazing flavor. Excellent! So, overall great great impromptu dinner. Highly recommend.

This was the first restaurant we came to when restaurants were able to reopen in LA and have guests indoors (before the rules changed). We sat inside and felt very safe. The waiter went over all of the safety precautions they were taking and how they installed special UV lights to kill bacteria etc. Everyone was spaced out and all workers wore a mask as well as a face shield. Our service was amazing. The waiter we had was very attentive and gave us some great wine recommendations. To start, we had the Mozzarella Marinara and Scampi A La Griglia. Mozzarella Marinara was amazing!! It is whole milk cheese that is deep friend and served with marinara sauce on top. A new version of mozzarella sticks that was so delicious. The Scampi was incredible. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and the sauce was amazing. For mains, we ordered the Fettuccine Al Salmone and a Rigatoni dish I couldn't remember the name of. The rigatoni was great, but the fettuccine with salmon was very heavy and the fish did not taste fresh. I would not order again. For dessert, we chose 2 desserts off of their dessert cart. The chocolate cake that we got was amazing! Definitely our favorite of the 2 we tried. Hopefully we will be back again. I want to try the shrimp scampi pasta since the appetizer was so amazing! This is great place for quality food and amazing service.
It is a traditional Italian kitchen. I hear that the food is very good. I've only been to the bar. It's pricey, and it's nice for a date with the right person.
this has been our go to holiday / big birthday/ big celebration restaurant for years. Since covid, the menu has def changed and there is less variety and specials. But the reason we will never go bavk is how theu treated my husband in a wheelchair last year. embarrassed him by trying to make him swuueeze the wheelchair in a place in didnt fit- all the while bothering the patrons who were eating at the next table. after much chaos we were sat elsewhere. they were informed of his needs at the tine of reservations. then my husband had tonuse the restroom. tje mens room is NOT ADA accessible at all and his chair coukdnt get through the doorway. very embarrasing and stressful for everyone. i filed a formal complaint hoping to go to mediatik. but they have not responded. will never go back. and our last dinner bill was $900 for 8 ppl. their loss
The food was pretty good but if you are under 25 and want a good service experience, don't come. I went on Valentine's day and was treated a lot differently than all of the other guests. Upon being seated, we were asked what we want without even a chance look at the menu. Throughout the entire evening the waiter was not friendly at all with us, but chatting it up and being so nice to everyone around us. I ordered a drink that was on their online menu for 9.95, and the waiter charged me 18.95. He refused to believe me when I showed him that drink on the website and then called over the owner. The owner/manager proceeded to say that was a happy hour price I was looking at. No where on the website area I was on it showed the happy hour prices. I showed him the website and then he said, oh well then I think it is a typo and it should be 19.95. Then I told him, the waiter charged me 18.95, not 19.95 so that also makes no sense. After this, he said he would adjust the bill. He comes back and says "I just bought the drink for you." He deducted the price which was nice, but there was no sense of a true apology or admitting they made a mistake with the menu. I do appreciate the deduction. Overall, since entering it was not at all the experience you want on Valentine's day. Rude waiter, incorrect billing, back and forth with manager. There are so many amazing restaurants and experiences in Santa Monica with a better location, experience, and food so I wouldn't come back. There are better options.
