We just had a large family event and needed a cake for 50. Eric called me to discuss all the details because we had a special order request. I have to say, the cake was amazing! It was also decorated so beautifully… Honestly the best I had ever seen. Somehow he was able to do exactly what I explained over the phone and then some. We had gone to Adams for Birthday cakes etc. for many years but the cakes of Diesings are far superior. Everybody raved about it. Great job, Eric.
They made our wedding cake and its so amazing! I highly recommend this bakeshop for any special occasions. The price is great and its worth! I love it! The cake is so delicious, its the combination of 3 flavors the one we had. Thank you so much Deisings Bakery! You made our Wedding more fabulous!
In spite of the completely repulsive face on the cupcake, I must say it’s pleasantly delicious. Definitely one of the best exports since brexit I’ve seen in the states. Long live the queen. Oh wait, she’s dead.
I grew up in Washington DC and my grandparents lived in Kingston. Every morning my grandfather would go and get rolls and jelly donuts from Deising's - when my parents, brother and sister and I were visiting. I can honestly say I don't associate anything more positive in my childhood than waking up to the smell of your food and specifically the jelly donuts. It reminds me of some of the best times of our life and the food was absolutely phenomenal and still is. Thank you so much!
I ordered a custom birthday cake from Deising's (carrot cake with cream cheese frosting). The cake came out great. I had some complex decorations that they did an amazing job arranging without much direction on my part. The cake was delicious and there were multiple compliments from our guests. They were great to work with and I wasn't disappointed.
I ordered 6 dozen strawberry shortcake cupcakes to bring to my mom’s for her 88th birthday. The cupcakes were delicious and so pretty. They were a huge hit at mom’s assisted living lunch!
Excellent breakfast! Fantastic service! Best baked goods in the Hudson Valley, esp their bread! & their breakfast muffins are also fantastic!! & their spinach & geta cheese croisants are amazing!
Stop in for baked goods, breakfast, or lunch. It is a place where there are no bad options and you regret there is not enough space in your stomach to order one of everything! My top choices here are the bagel deluxe (lox, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onion), stuffed French toast, marble bread, cannolis, chocolate dome cakes, bagels, egg sandwiches, and melt-away coffee cake. If you come on a Friday or Saturday, you have to get the pretzels! They’re great with butter but I also enjoy them as a ham and cheese sandwich with mustard.
I ordered my daughters birthday cake for small amount of people not only did I get exactly what I wanted. They were very informative about everything in the cake gave me recommendations and the cake was not only beautiful but it was good. It tasted really good. Everybody liked it. I couldn’t be happier for my daughter’s third birthday, thank you so much. I will be back again. And…..it was under $25
Food has always been great! Rachel our waitress was very nice and attentive, but what made her stand out was how kind she was to a man sitting next to us. She treated him with kindness and respect, offered to buy him a coffee. There's always someone that has it worse off than you and it's very nice to be able to pay it forward. Thank you Rachel for being an example to all of us on how to treat people with respect!
I ordered the lox bagel, it was amazing. All pastries we took home were delicious and fresh. The staff super friendly and helpful. Perfect for a family breakfast ❤️
A Staple. I like sitting at the counter, getting 2 eggs with the fiesta potatos and rye. Good, hardworking people. Food comes pretty quickly. Half diner, half bakery. Greatly appreciate what they offer to the community. Good crueller too.
Do'nut miss Deising's donuts. Haven't been here in awhile, my bad. The donuts were light and melt in your mouth. They have added new donuts to the menu, such as fruit filled. The apple filled had a yummy pie like filling with real apple pieces, that was not overly sweet. Deising's is on their A game with the pastries as well. And the staff was quick and courteous. I will be back.
I ordered unicorn cake for my daughter birthday. I was nicely surprised when I picked it up. The cake was beautiful, exactly same what I wanted. I requested less sugar, but honestly didn’t expect they will do that. Americans cakes are different than European. And another surprise!!! Cake was delicious, with gentle touch of sugar. Highly recommend for occasional cakes 🎂
Great Father's Day buffet... the food was excellent specially the ham and turkey...lots of items to choose from and an outstanding staff...looking forward to next year.
Amazing cake! I can't wait to eat their cake Bears again... I hope they install their new flat top and oven soon, because I can't wait to try what magic foods they will be creating with their new appliances. And when you make the John O. bear cake, please make sure you also sell it for mail-order! 🥳
We had 2 wonderful take out lunches on our way to and from PA and VT. What a great find!! GF bread, pastries like my childhood, thick sandwiches and wonderful salads. Friendly service and they answer the phone with a live person to order take out!! It was ready in under 15 minutes. I highly recommend this restaurant!
"I have never been to your restaurant but if I did, it would be great fun. but something is missing - the John Oliver Bear Cake! I know, I know, it sounds ridiculous, but hear me out. That cake would be the real MVP (Most Valuable Pastry). I mean, who needs a Michelin star when you can have a cake named after a beloved comedian? I'm sure your food is great, the service is top-notch, but I can't shake off the feeling that something is amiss. It is like a hug without the squeeze, a joke without the punchline, a Last Week Tonight without... well, you get the idea. So, my dear , please, for the love of all things sweet and funny, bring back the John Oliver Bear Cake! I'm willing to start a petition, rally the troops, or even bake it myself (just kidding, I can barely make a decent sandwich). In conclusion, I'll give you 4.5 out of 5 stars, but only if you promise to consider my plea. Deal? P.S. If you do bring it back, I'll be the first in line, with a slice of humble pie in hand."
I only work in Kingston two Days week, but those two days every single lunch break I have a stop over and get a baked good item from the bakery. It is amazing, I’ve never had anything here that I didn’t love. The lunch specials are great, and the food is great as well as everything from the bakery.
The bakery is always 5/5 stars. Best jelly donuts I've ever had. They have amazing cookies, cheesecakes, turnovers, and more. All the donuts are so fresh and delicious. I really enjoyed the French curler. They have great cakes and the danishes are amazing. The danish sampler that has all the different fillings is great, they really know what they are doing. They do custom orders, as well as catering. The hard rolls are the best I've ever had, no need for butter they are so good. Now as for the deli/ lunch part. The first sandwich I got there was an amazing 5/5 with delicious fries, went there again today got a similar sandwich but it wasn't very good. Roast beef was dry and over cooked, not enough cheese, and just tasted old. 2/5. I'm thinking it was just an off day for them or maybe ba different, less skilled employee. Regardless I will give it another go since the first one was so good.
I've unfortunately, never been to your bakery nor may get the opportunity to do so. I'm only here to see if you going to do the "John Oliver Bear Cake". Please for the love of baked goods, do it!!! Love, some random guy from Texas P.s Your food looks amazing
Asked for 2 Bear Claws, she took 2 Cheese Danishs out.I repeated Two Beat Claws, she said: these are Bear Claws. I thought maybe you made them different. They were Cheese Danishes. Love yr cakes...but this isn't the first time with pastries. Maybe try teaching yr hired help the difference between Bear Claws & Danish Pastry. Otherwise I'll go to Adams
Deising’s bakery is hidden gem of Kingston. It’s small town dinner meets incredibly bakery . My wife and had lunch there today and it was awesome . The staff are super friendly and accommodating . The food is reasonably priced and portion size is more than reasonable . The bake goods are delicious The only issue is there is limited parking but circle around the parking lot you won’t regret it .
I want to thank Stephanie for doing a beautifully beautifully decorated baby shark custom cake for me is absolutely everything I expected it to be thank you very much Stephanie you are the best you've done so many cakes like Billie eilish. Please enjoy some of the photos of the cakes the have been done the last 2 times for me all of their cakes have been beautiful.
Great bakery and diner, everything is good! We buy our baked goods here and eat at the diner often. Very cozy, great comfort food
Place is still great! Grew up in town, been the best bakery since I was a kid in the 70's
Ordered a cake and cupcakes for a baby shower. Peter went above and beyond with his creativity. He was so professional with ensuring he knew what we wanted and needed. He made ordering so easy especially since I'm from out of state. Photo posted... Adventure awaits cake - it was phenomenal! Both how it looked and the taste. So many compliments!
After the cake tasting with our caterer for our wedding left us feeling disappointed, we scrambled to find a bakery that did wedding cakes and would deliver to our venue. We weren’t looking for anything fancy, just really yummy cake. And we didn’t want the sculpted fondant look. Not being from the area, we found Deisings via Yelp. We were going to be in the Hudson Valley the following day, so we asked to see if they could fit us in for a tasting. They were so accommodating and allowed us to come last minute. Our tasting was with Eric, who was so nice, laidback, and easy to work with. We were able to pick 6 kinds of cake and then 6 kinds of frosting. The cake was cut into cubes and the frosting was served in small condiment dishes, so we could dip the cake in and try different combinations. Eric gave us great feedback on the popular flavors (we wanted our guests to be happy) and the cake was delicious. Again, nothing particularly revelatory, but really tasty. At the end of the tasting, Eric didn’t pressure us to commit, gave us what we felt like was a fair quote, and said to call him a month before the wedding if we decide to go with them. When we saw a lesbian cake topper in a display on the way out, that sealed the deal. (We also got their fresh twinkies for the ride home and they were incredible.) We went with a four-tier cake with alternating rosette tiers of yellow cake with vanilla custard and fresh strawberries, and chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. We finalized the order on the phone with another manager, who was equally helpful. The cake arrived he day of the wedding without a hitch and was just as we pictured and just as delicious as we remembered. We couldn’t have asked for more! We ate the leftovers for two days after the wedding on our honeymoon. Eric didn’t recommending freezing the smallest layer and said in a year, they’ll make us another for our anniversary. We’re looking forward to it!
Always our go-to for birthday cakes. So delicious!
Had a brilliant meal here with friendly and welcoming service. The prices were quite fair and the food was great. The portions were of perfect size. They also had quite a variety of tasty looking pastries etc … in their baking side of the shop.
Excellent spot for lunch! Sandwiches are on fresh baked bread and endless sweet options after! What more could you ask for? We will be back again!
Very good coffee and sesame bagel! The staff were friendly and helpful.
An excellent and simply enormous breakfast. I had a three-egg omelet and French toast.
Got a Apple Crumb Pie from a school function. One of the best pies I've ever had.
Went for lunch… The deli roast beef was cooked to a perfect medium rare and the potato salad was freshly made in-house. Will go back!
Look we've traveled all across America. Last ten years traveled a lot. You could look at our travels and say it's been in pursuit of the world's best bakery. Well it's not true not exactly but we have stopped at a lot of bakeries. And folks this is a good one. To many bakeries are devoted to sugar and raising your blood sugar not enough are dedicated to baking bread and buns. Folks this place can do both. You want bread they've got a bunch of different kinds you want sugar they've got enough you'll never come off that sugar high. Did I say the do sandwiches? Yes that do and they really looked good. Just say you won't regret it.
My first time here was over 30 years ago and this is an update from my review in 2016. Deising’s is a place we stop at when we need to bring something nice to a friend’s house or when we need a birthday cake for someone visiting us. This time we were picking up a birthday cake for a 93 year old friend of my mother’s we were going to visit. Since it was a 2.5 hour drive we also picked up breakfast sandwiches to eat on our drive. The choice of cakes, cookies, pastries, and breads are almost overwhelming. Everything looks as delicious as it tastes. There is a counter to eat at or a restaurant in the back. The parking lot is busy but I’ve always been able to find a spot but sometimes had to wait a couple of minutes. There is also street parking right there if the parking lot is full.
This place is a treasure. Lovely and flavorful baked goods for really reasonable prices seems like a blast from the past. We've had them do a cake for a party which was beautiful and a big hit, and for the holidays we pre-ordered a Buche de Noelle which was very well priced ($26) and beautifully decorated AND tasted delicious!
If you are looking for a delicious king cake in the area this is the place. I am from Louisiana and this one was better than most of the ones back home. Baby, beads, and mask included!
We have been customers here since the 90s for good reason. Fresh baked goods, being a plus. My review is aimed at food service. In more recent times, the staff seems to forget friendliness. Nobody checks back to see what may be needed once food is brought. We went there today for lunch, they sat us, and we waited a half hour with no wait staff at all, no drink. I went to see why. Sat, nobody came. I went a second time to staff standing at the check out to see what the delay was. We walked out! I'm hopeful that this review shakes things up a little. The Deisings are wonderful people!
I can't believe I've lived in this area my whole life and never knew about this charming bakery and restaurant. I wish I lived in Kingston as I would be here every other day. I can't say enough good things about this bakery.
Love this casual, friendly place. (Mainly, it's diner type food.) It's one of my fave brekkie joints. I'm very fussy about my eggs. My feeling about getting badly prepared eggs in a restaurant is "I can ruin my own eggs at home, thank you" Deising's prepares them perfectly every time. Their marble rye is yummy and I love that you can opt for cantaloupe instead of potatoes. I've been here for lunch with friends and they are always very happy with whatever they've ordered. Service is fast and friendly. Prices are very reasonable compared to most other places. And their bakery is wonderful. Their key lime pie is heavenly (though only available seasonally, warm months.)
Came for the donuts, the donuts were good. They were soft and somewhat fluffy. The apple fritter was more of an apple filled donut that was glazed. The cinnamon roll was ok, kind of reminded me of a boxed cinnamon roll but slightly softer. My favorite thing was the Crumb cake, super soft and great flavor.
They did such a beautiful job for my daughter’s birthday cake. I requested pink edges and they went above and beyond for the piping work. On top of that very reasonably priced. It was definitely way less expensive than I thought it would be for a bakery cake. I got a chocolate cake with vanilla custard and whipped cream frosting. The piping was done with buttercream I think but it was DELICIOUS. My daughter turned two this past weekend and as soon as she saw her cake she couldn’t wait to dig in. We didn’t even finish the happy birthday song before she tasted the frosting lol. I will absolutely be ordering from here again. I wish I got a better photo of the edge piping. It was so cute. And the sprinkles they chose were adorable. Loved the little hearts. Also the ordering process was SO easy. They understood clearly what I wanted and made the process as smooth as possible.
I ordered my wedding cake for my small at-home wedding on September 21 and was blown away by the stunning piping work they did - just like the inspiration photos I sent! The cake was delicious, too! The price was very fair - $95 for a beautiful decorated 12 inch round cake with fresh strawberry mousse filling.
****UPDATE**** Went in this morning for the bagels offered by the owner and WOW. NOW THESE ARE CREAM CHEESE BAGELS! Amazing. And of course because I was there I just HAD to get a couple of my favorite things at Deisings, cheese crowns...those are a must-try if you haven't already. But overall, couldn't be happier and love that the owner was willing and wanting to fix my first experience rather than just get upset because of a not great review. Will keep coming back FOR SURE now!!! Thank you Peter! My husband and I just went there to get some breakfast and needless to say I am not happy with what I received. We both ordered bagels with cream cheese as well as a donut and a pastry. Both bagels that were supposed to have cream cheese on them had such a small amount that it didn't even cover one side of the bagel. I could literally see the bread of the bagel through it because it was that thin on the bagel and when my husband opened his, he thought it was butter because he had the same amount, meaning barely any at all. So now we have to go and buy more cream cheese so we can actually eat our bagels because otherwise they'll be so dry that I doubt either of us could eat them. This will be our last time going there for bagels for sure! For the cost, they can afford to put at least a normal or average amount rather than less than an ounce (if that).
What a gem to have in your community. I really enjoyed lunch. The cream of chicken soup was delicious and loaded with chicken and could be definitely described as comfort food 100%. The cakes and pies look amazing. Had the Philly cheese steak and it is served on a homemade roll lightly toasted with tender shaved steak. Someone from Philly would have said it was good!
I had the best breakfast wrap I’ve ever had here. It was a country omelet with hash browns and sausage wrapped inside a garlic herb wrap and I’m still thinking about it three days later. Coffee is good also. Didn’t have the donuts. I’d totally recommend this place.
Great place for late breakfast or quick tasty lunch
A Kingston staple and prices are good. Only thing is some of their cakes have small, hard, round candies that I thought were plastic they were so hard. Definitely a choking hazard, especially for young kids who are likely to eat their cakes. I hope they reconsider using these decorative candies because I feel like it’s only a matter of time before a kid chokes or someone cracks a tooth.
I love the bakery here. They have a great selection of treats and breads. Their restaurant is ok. I had an omelet and it was ok, coffee was good and so was the service.
Still the best onion rye, but the place has changed. We tried eating lunch but never saw our waitress. We wound up walking out. Even purchasing bread was an unpleasant experience. Online ordered breakfast, and they no longer have homemade hash. It was hash of disappointment. Would go back for the bread, will not try breakfast or lunch again though.
Traveling route 87 we wanted to try a local restaurant and came across Deising’s. Wasn’t to hard to find from the highway. I ordered a deli style turkey sandwich made with Boars Head meat on fresh bread from their bakery. Service was friendly and prompt. The sandwich was very good! After eating we visited the bakery and enjoyed a wonderful variety of delicious looking baked goods. I got a turtle cheesecake bite - yum. Will make this a regular stop when traveling through the area.
Decent diner food if you’re looking for breakfast or lunch. Nothing insane but casual spot with decent service. Where they really shine is the bakery! I loveeee their crumb cake most of all but really every fresh bakery item I’ve had here has been good. Cheese danish, tiramisu, cupcakes, apple crumb, carrot cake. They bakery counter is busy on the weekend but moves fast! Kingston staple that’s worth a visit for classic NY bakery vibes.
So sad. I used to love this place and it's sad to see it go downhill like this. We were never asked if we wanted drinks by the waitress that came 22minutes after we were told to sit. (right in front of the service stn.) She asked about food and took off. She was nice and kind so I will give her that. They are all very nice. This is another reason that it's just sad. Way too many flies in a restaurant/bakery for me! I don't even want to continue this review. Just one more thing, there are many handicap spaces out front. It's Definitely wheelchair accessible.....Just don't try to go to the bathroom because it's downstairs!
We came from out of town and were recommended this bakery. We ordered a garden omelet, a belgian waffle with banana, and the pecan french toast (with real maple syrup on both of them). The garden omelet was disappointing; it had no seasoning and the veggies tasted like they were soggy and not fresh. Overall we were expecting higher quality breakfast because of the on site bakery. Maybe if we were expecting more of diner quality food it wouldn't have been disappointing, but we've still tasted much better food for a similar price.
Atmosphere was nice and their bagels are good quality, but they don’t toast them or melt the cheese on breakfast sandwiches which was a little disappointing. Please toast/melt them! It makes them ten times better!!
Disappointed for the third time since coming back to hometown. First time ordered butter hard roll and coffee. Got to destination and it was a day old roll. Not the hard crust soft inside that always made it perfect. Second time specified a roll from bin and again got a day old. Only okay if your toasting it guys. Today I have ordered Monte Cristo not only was the outside over down, meat inside was thicker. While waiting for my order saw wait staff ignoring customers (not even a nod of acknowledgement), lied to about seating downstairs. ( I assumed because trying to balance tables to waitresses), counting tips before shifts done (maybe they needed singles), stuff on floor and a general lack of training. Sad to see a place known for excellence and consistency slipping.
The food is amazing, when they get it right. I've ordered take out from deicings many many times, and while I love the food, there have been errors in every order I've placed. Nothing that makes it inedible, just not what I asked for. They need to slow down and actually look at the order before they make it. This is getting ridiculous how often they mess up.
We’ve been coming here for nearly seven years and have brought many friends. It’s been one of our regular local spots. Recently I ordered a double espresso and was served two separate single espressos in different cups, charged individually at $7.50 total. This wasn’t explained upfront. When I mentioned that a double espresso is normally two shots in one cup at a single price, I was told, “This is how we do it at Deising.” What disappointed me most was the attitude. The interaction felt unnecessarily argumentative and unfriendly, which honestly turned me off the bakery a little. A bit of clarity and courtesy would have made all the difference. Just a heads up that here, a “double” means two separately charged singles.
Why was there a piece of bacon in my home fries? As a vegetarian this was disturbing This place has gone downhill. Used to love it as a kid :(
Waitresses seemed confused and had bad attitude. Pancakes were doughy and unedible. Pastrami sandwich was ice cold and pickle slices placed in sandwich when I asked for pickle on the side. We complained and waitress was nasty. We didn't eat anything and left. Never again!
when you go in and there are no people you see many workers, who see you, and ignore you while they straighten donuts in the case. it actually takes longer to get checked out when its less busy. also i really am turned off by the election cookie poll. it almost makes me not want to come in and i literally come here every morning, 7 days a week, for my coffee and breakfast.
Ordered a Birthday Cake.Paid in full ,picked up 2 days later. This is the way these "new" so called bakers printed the greeting. A 6" cake had to pay extra for because of the choice of color . Went from 18- 22. Ordered an egg sandwich to go with bacon ,asked for 1 slice ,she tells me can't t do that ,it comes with 3 and you want 1 still have to charge you. It come to 5.89 for this '"vbnmmm'" sandwich. I get 2 smidgens. Had my fill of this snotty big attitude woman . The staff here snotty ,not all,but it was my third visit in a month and I'm sick of them. Great Greeting ON That Gold Cardboard! You must be so proud.
Ordered 3 different donuts; Glazed, apple cider, and chocolate glazed. Deising's might be more suited for other breakfast options, but since these are the only things I had, it'll be 2 stars. These are pedestrian, grocery store quality donuts. The Apple Cider was probably the best, but a far cry from any freshly made apple cider donut in the Hudson Valley. Service was friendly, on the other hand.
We drove there, 1hr 40mins for a quick brunch and to enjoy the foliage on the way up. Got there at 2:10pm and were turned away because the kitchen was closed, but the website says they close at 3pm, I asked for an exception because of the distance we travelled and still no. I was there last year and enjoyed the food and the bakery, so today they were our destination. OK no lunch, ordered a whole cheesecake and assorted pastries totaling $40. I requested a bag especially for the larger cake and was told they don’t have bags that size. Then when I go to pay the first question is what amount tip percentage, are you kidding me, for over the counter service? I paid, snatched my three boxes and bolted out of there. Never again, I’m good, that’s just no way to do business. 3pm closing is misleading. Bags not big enough for the larger cake boxes?C’mon folks. I was so looking forward going up there just to enjoy the ride, scenery, and have a quick brunch, and we previously enjoyed their baked goods, but we’re done there!
Always loved getting breakfast here sadly it’s not the same anymore. My favorite Greek omelette very dry very little tomatoes and hardly any feta cheese at all. My boyfriend’s Spanish omelette dry and disappointing as well. The new owners are cheeping out and ruining the reputation of great restaurant and it shows many empty tables. I’ll be going elsewhere.
I had watched John Oliver and wanted to support a small business. I ordered their box of cookies for $35 from their website. I got a small box [maybe 8" by 6"] from Amazon 5 days after ordering. The cookies were smashed, it looks like there was 12 cookies that were 2" by 2" before they were crushed. Someone opened the box and put a piece of bubble wrap on top of the cookies. Gross. So, it was about $3.50 a crumled cookie. Why would they advertise 2 day priority and then send from Amazon? Who would be so niave to trust Amazon with something that has a short shelf life and needs care in handling.
I took my husband out for a Father’s Day breakfast. We are regular customers and in the past had ok experiences. Not great but not bad. However on Father’s Day they had a buffet or a limited menu. In order to have menu item we would have to sit at the counter. The buffet was overpriced for what it was. Servers were standing around just talking to each other. I had to chase down a server to get our drinks. Our ketchup bottle had disgusting dried food on the inside cap. I had to go to the bar to get it changed. No one came by to check on us or refill our drinks. Then the did a mandatory 18% tip for a party of 4. When my husband spoke to the manager she pointed about the tip in the fine print and said that that’s how they do it. She was not apologetic and even smirked when she said this is how we do things. We were going to get my daughter’s birthday cake there but after her attitude we will be getting it somewhere else. We left and will not be back.
Do not trust them with gift certificates. I just went to use a gift card that had not yet been redeemed (also un-scratched) . They told me they changed card systems and no longer have record of their balances and best they could do was $20. the card had no terms or expiration date.
Bought 2 apple pies 2 days before Christmas- 1 Dutch, 1 Regular, ... definitely were spoiled/sour. I'm not sure if it was a bad batch of apples or if pies were very expired. I was promised a phone call (from the owner) about the issue I never received. I see someone else had a similar complaint and did not get a credit because no one else complained, well In have the same complaint. Seems this once awesome bakery is falling down in quality of product.
I ordered an Apple Crumb pie & Pumpkin pie for Thanksgiving. The Apple Crumble pie was way too sweet. I called & they wouldn’t issue me a credit for the Apple Crumb pie because they didn’t receive any complaints. It’s an insult that you would think I’m lying to get my money back. Things happen & people make mistakes. They just lost a customer who will spread my experience with others!
UPDATE: this business never reached out to me at all and never issued me a refund. Thankfully I paid with PayPal so PayPal was able to step in and refund the purchase for me. Do not EVER order anything from them online! I bought some pastries online to have shipped to my father for Father’s Day. He moved out of state and talks about how much he misses Deisings all the time. I was so excited when I saw Deisings ships some of their baked goods. On their website it states that orders placed Thursday or later would ship out on Monday to insure freshness. So I placed my order on Thursday. On Friday I received an email that my order had shipped, I tried emailing them to ask why it shipped already and they never replied. My father received the package on Monday and the pastries were destroyed. They didn’t package them in a shipping box, they reused a box that whipped cream was delivered to them in (see photos). The box had holes on the sides too so bugs and other pests could easily get into the box & get to the food. They also shipped the package out with barely any padding at all so the pastries were being tossed around inside the box. There was no ice packs or anything used to control the temperature in transit either. Upon hearing the news of how the order was shipped I called Deisings. I spoke to someone who told me only their boss could help me with a refund or replacement, and they took my name & number down and told me that I’d receive a call from them tomorrow. I never received a call back, and they won’t reply to emails either. I’m going to have to pursue a chargeback with my card company now. Highly, highly disappointed in them. It’s absurd and embarrassing that a business would ship out baked goods like this, and then do nothing to correct it. Highly recommend never ordering anything from them.
We visited this over rated & overpriced restaurant and bakery on a Saturday (Party of 2). Do not be fooled by "The Big Reuben" from the Lunch Menu. For $19 it is NOT big, it is a greasy mess on a plate without a side (French Fries are an additional $3 charge). I ordered a Panini for $15 from the Lunch Menu because it showed "all paninis served with fries" and after we submitted our order the waitress came back to tell me "French Fries are an additional $3 charge". I changed my order to the Stuffed French Toast from the Breakfast Menu. Don't be fooled like I was because the "challah bread" was regular white toast sliced Wonder Bread. We also ordered a side of Onion Rings to share and they were not good (just a greasy mess on a plate). Our waitress was nowhere to be found after she served us, we were lucky to get water from her only once (i asked a different waitress for a second cup of water). Then we went over to the bakery and I bought some sweet treats to take home. I was fooled by the Chocolate Cream Pie: it is moose not pudding/the chocolate shavings in the center are like plastic/the crust is very salty. I didn't buy any Donuts because they did NOT look good. The Apple Crumb was the best purchase. Stay with the Bakery and skip "the restaurant".
I'm only rating the food as my order was for takeout. I ordered the Chicken Caesar wrap. It was terrible! The chicken was black, totally overcooked, dry and hard. I had to throw it away. It wasn't my first time ordering from Deising's but it is definitely my last. I'm only giving it one star because I have to do so in order to submit my review. This sandwich doesn't even deserve one star.
We haven't been to Deisings in 10 years. So when we got the chance to stop for lunch, we were happy we could go there. Boy, what happened! The food was awful! My chic parm panini was very dry. It tasted like they made it yesterday and then put it in the press today. Our friend got a sandwich which was very dry too. She had to get a side of mayo to eat it. The waitress brought my husband fries instead of cole slaw. On the way out we got donuts to go. Big mistake! They tasted old and like they used old oil. Don't they care? In ten years they could of redecorated the dining room.
The management team at this restaurant needs improvement. They offer public wifi to their customers, in a day and age where remote work is more common than ever, yet their employees are not trained to tell their customers there is a wifi limit (despite having ample bar and cafe seating at the bakery) nor do they have a sign posted anywhere explaining that there is a time limit. Therefore it appears wifi would be accessible to the public in an unlimited way, but it is not. It’s also not listed in the terms and agreements when you sign up for the wifi. After my meal, when I asked to be reconnected to wifi after suddenly getting kicked off in the middle of an important activity , one of their managers simply said “you’ve been here 30 minutes” instead of explaining the process and apologizing for a misunderstanding. When I spoke to them that I was unhappy, and wanted to be reconnected or have some kind of refund because no one told me about this and I would have either planned ahead after lunch or gone to another establishment to eat and work, they stated “we are a restaurant, we don’t have to tell you our customers anything about the wifi, and if you don’t like it you can leave.” I think they have terrible customer service, poor communication, and do not value their customers nor understand how the modern world works. They would benefit from better staff training. If you have money to spend and you are a remote worker - do not come here! Be warned that you will get kicked off their wifi without warning, and they don’t value your payment.
Make sure that when you order a cake you call again the next day to make sure they don’t forget to make it. HUGE INCONVENIENCE!!!
Ordered sugar free apple pie was given regular ordered jelly donuts and French kruellers both hard as a rock, was over$100 order was given half of it if didn't check before we left would of never known but didn't believe when told missing stuff had to go get daughter with bags to prove it over a hour away trip for sissies sugar free pie that was not sugar free... bakery manager didn't even let her talk when called on Monday started rolling off about it being in bag couldn't even explain ... never would recommend just on customer service... we all know things happen but come on... didn't want to hear anything about order had us send picture of pie to blame the baker putting in wrong container so gave back money atleast on that...
Disappointed. I Purchased breads and a few desserts. Everything was previously frozen. Both were still thawing when I got home. This was a normal business day. Not a holiday rush. Black n white cookie tasted 3 days old and coconut macaroon dry. All were old. Bakery selling old as fresh. Shame on you.
