My boyfriend and I are big wine enthusiasts, which led to our excitement of checking out Pinard and we were genuinely impressed! Bijan was our sommelier and server for the evening (how cool is that?!) and he is an absolute GEM. It’s evident that he is passionate about his craft, and he made the wine feel so approachable while providing us the best pairings for our meal. I told him that I enjoy Sauvignon Blanc and he selected a lovely Sancerre that I wouldn’t have selected on my own. Mara welcomed us in at the host stand and immediately set the tone for the evening with her hospitality. The wine is great and expertly paired with good food, but the people are truly the heartbeats here. Perfect for date night as it feels intimate, not loud, and the booths are stunning. You must try the queso de Cabra as the herbed goat cheese and red bell pepper tomato sauce are PERFECTION
Love. This. Place. The first thing we saw upon entering was the very clubby club room, which was hosting the release party for the wine club members. We didn’t enter because we are not members (yet), but members can dine in the club or sip their wine on the couch in front of the gas-flame fireplace. The club has two reasonably priced levels, each of which releases two bottles of wine every other month, curated by the very friendly, knowledgeable, and well-travelled owner. The clubs also provide some discounts on food and wine. In keeping with the wine bar theme, the bar is dominated by a long, temperature-controlled wine dispenser holding at least 30 bottles on tap, from which you can choose 6 oz. or 9 oz. pours, or 3 oz. tasting flights of red or white. So much wine, so little time. The curated wine choices were not common names and everything we tried was good. Although Pinard calls itself a wine bar, it’s also a top-flight restaurant. Both the dining room and the patio offer well-spaced white-tableclothed tables, and the patio has moveable propane heaters for cooler nights. The menu offers boards, small plates, soups and salads, steaks and chops, and a selection of other comfort-foodish mains. In many restaurants, I see one or two dishes that attract me. Not so here. I had a tough time choosing between many dishes that struck my fancy. We chose, and loved, the Cacio e Pepe Caesar and the short rib ravioli, which was a special. Service was excellent. My wife and I have been excited about Pinard’s opening, and as soon as it opened, we went for dinner. What a fantastic experience it was. We started with an appetizer and drinks, and the bartenders wasted no time. They were fast and skillful, getting our cocktails to us almost instantly, while also making them delicious. Pinard has a thoughtfully curated wine list that was the highlight of our night. We chose a few of their exclusive wines to pair with our dinner, guided by the excellent recommendations of the wait staff, who are both knowledgeable and attentive. When our meals arrived, we were blown away. The food was sensational, unbelievably fresh, vibrant flavors at an affordable price point. Toward the end of our meal, the owner, Letty, came by our table to check in. She was incredibly warm, genuinely excited to have us there, and even asked if we had any feedback. We were stumped and honestly couldn't think of a single thing to suggest. When we asked about the wines, Letty shared details about their specialized equipment that keeps more wines on tap while preserving their freshness. Her passion for the restaurant and dedication to her guests and staff is evident. The ambiance of Pinard transports you, it’s a European escape right here in Arizona. The decor and atmosphere have that rare, authentic charm that makes you feel like you’re dining in the French countryside. The wine selection, especially the recommendations, paired flawlessly with each dish. On the night we visited, they happened to be showcasing their members only wine lounge attached to the main dining area. It’s cozy, peaceful, and beautifully designed, creating an intimate setting that’s perfect for wine lovers. I’m excited to join as a member and can’t wait to return. The idea of having a local spot with exclusive, curated wines is exactly what I’ve been hoping for in this area. Pinard is a must visit. It’s unlike anything else around here, you’d have to fly to Europe for a comparable experience. We’ve added Pinard to our favorites list and look forward to making it a regular spot. Hats off to the entire Pinard team, keep up the amazing work!
My husband and I had already had dinner when we stumbled upon Pinard. We went in to check it out and ended up staying for dessert. I had a seasonal pumpkin cheesecake and my husband had the dark chocolate mousse. They were both excellent! From the wine club room to the cup and saucer the dessert was presented in, this bar/bistro is thoughtfully done. To top it off, the service was warm and attentive. I am really looking forward to going back for dinner and drinks.
Last night was the third time I have dined at Pinard, and all I can say is wow (I will be back for my fourth very soon)! It reminds me of the wonderful food I had while I lived in Europe! They have over 40 wines by the glass and many more by the bottle. Service was to perfection, the beef bourguignon, scotch egg, and braised pork were absolutely to die for. If you go anywhere in Scottsdale, let it be here!
Good evening fellow Phoenicians, this evening my mother and I took a detour regarding our dinner plans. I had spent the day toiling away at work while my 83 year old mother spent the day yelling at her barking Yorkshire terrier. I called her and inquired if she was desiring an evening of seafood. She lives in north Scottsdale and I did not want to travel far. We decided on a destination close to home. However, upon reaching our destination she had a change of heart. I heard "Uh, I don't really want to go here (establishment to rename un-named to prevent shame), they aren't as good as they once were." I said "okay", let's find something else. As we pulled away and started to drive, we saw "Pinard Wine Bar". I had not recognized the name before, it used to be some generic "American" fare place that went out of business. I said "I'd love some wine", as the day had been a bit stressful with patients. She suggested something else, I pushed a little and said "Ma, I would like some wine, let's try this." She lovingly agreed to appease her 51 year old son. Pinard Wine Bar had a lovely, spacious interior. Vibes of a Victorian establishment, plenty of space between tables as to not enjoy the conversation of people you do not know. Beautiful decor, classy. All of the staff is dressed differently, with attractive employees, most had smiles. We were seated immediately and informed they had just opened 1 day ago. This alone made me smile. I terribly enjoy new endeavors. The silverware was gold in color so I felt as though I was important. The chairs are those of your grandmothers you were never allowed to sit in. Our server was a wonderful young man, smiling and attentive. He advised us of an appetizer and entree that were specials of the day. He also informed us the menu would be expanding as they have actually not officially had a grand opening yet. He seemed the slightest bit nervous, but soldiered on :). We perused the menu and immediately fell upon the Gazpacho, a favorite of my mother and I. We knew we would be trying this. I did not wish to harm fowl or fish, so I settled on the Rib-eye as the cows have had their moment, forcing us humans to "Eat more Chikin". My madre merely wanted the Gazpacho as she claimed a small appetite. I too ordered the Gazpacho as I do not wish to share. I also ordered the Rib-eye with mashed potatoes. I wanted horseradish to go with it, at which point my mother scowled. I took this to mean she would be engaging in partial theft of my bovine entree. The excellent young man suggested a different sauce that in my 51 years have never heard about. My worldly mother however, said "oh yes wonderful! , let's have that too". I still cannot pronounce it now. My mother does not indulge in the fermented grapes of the world. I chose a Malbec. Do not ask me the name, I told the young man, that is my favorite and he stated they have an excellent one a vendor recently presented to them. Our meat was delicious, the mashed potatoes were fantastic, but the Gazpacho, goodness. I felt as though I was in Spain, watching the birds fly overhead as each spoonful touched my lips. It was delicious. The staff smiled, whomever our waiter was, thank you sir. You were wonderful, thank you for your kind and joyful aura. The ambience is adequate. The food was delicious. If I knew the name of the Malbec I enjoyed I would say it. Just ask for "the Malbec", that's how I received it. I highly suggest trying this new restaurant in North Scottsdale, give them a shot, you will enjoy your time. Thank you to Pinard for a wonderful time with my mother. May God bless you and may you enjoy success in your business venture. Adrian RN
Absolutely beautiful new wine bar in North Scottsdale. Gives you the vibe and feel of being in a wine bar in Europe. So many gorgeous details. Fantastic Sommelier guided us for the perfect bottle.
Ambiance was amazing, service exceptional and food and wine on point! Grateful to have a unique destination to enjoy great wine and food.
Fabulous new addition to the neighborhood. Order the Scotch egg! Lori was awesome attentive and lovely. Got check it out wine list for glass pour is impressive.
This was our first time visiting this wine bar, and it definitely won’t be our last! The vibe was perfect...relaxed, quiet, and ideal for a date night. There was a nice selection of bubbly and wines to choose from, which made it easy to find something we both enjoyed. We also ordered a few shareables that paired beautifully with our drinks. Our server was new to this location but not new to Arizona, and she was incredibly friendly and attentive. The service overall was excellent. If you’re looking for a cozy, intimate spot with great wine and even better service, this is it!
100/10, truly. The service, the food, the wine, the knowledge. They blow any other wine bar we have been a part of out of the water. We enjoy each and every visit we have. They have not only knocked it out of the park for my Husband and I but also for a party of 14 we hosted. Could not be happier with Pinard Wine Bar.
We have been wanting to try Pinard since it opened and are so happy we finally did! The food was soooo good and service was excellent (thank you Shawn). We were impressed with their extensive wine list which had multiple options from various countries; France, Spain, Italy etc. We very much enjoyed the cheese board (I was excited that they had a gluten free bread option to go with it). My husband had the veal chop which he loved. I had the chicken breast (I do not normally oder chicken out but this was beyond excellent)! North Scottsdale has needed a place like this! I will recommend to friends and we will definitely return. Suggestion: open for lunch a few days a week!
We had the pleasure of hosting my girlfriend’s retirement party here this past weekend and can’t say enough good things about the staff, owners, and management. Since our first interaction with Letty, we knew we had found our place to host the event. We had a vague idea as to what we wanted and she walked us through the process and what she thought would work best for our group of 30 people. We were able to use the private members lounge which worked perfectly for seating and food setup. Everyone that was there was impressed by the food, drinks, and the staff. We’ve been to Pinard Wine Bar a few times leading up to the event and plan on going back many times in the future. Thank you for the great evening you provided us and our guests!
What a beautiful and welcome change to the standard dining scene in Scottsdale! The atmosphere was wonderful - great care taken to create an atmosphere of European elegance. We just returned from a wine tour in France and I have to say that the wine list was not only extensive but filled with many of the beautiful wines we came to know and love in Champagne, Burgundy and Bordeaux. Staff was incredibly friendly and responsive. Food was spot on - kudos to the chef and purveyors ! A great date night spot, or an evening of wine and appetizers with the girls . My husband and I will be back again soon !
Great first impression! This place is the perfect way to end any day! Decor is impeccable- nice mix of European and cozy. No detail left undone! As we settled into our comfy couch our waiter introduced himself - he was very friendly and informative. The wine choices were endless. We enjoyed a nice red wine flight with a mix of Italian and Spanish wines. Then the menu: we started with the Baked Camembert, if you like Brie, you’ll love this delicious starter. Then we shared a Loire Salad, the toasted walnuts added to how tasty it was. My husband had the ribeye and I had the sea bass. Both were delicious. The sea bass was served over wild rice, with a tasty red sauce, the blend of flavors was on point. Wish we would’ve saved room for dessert but we will definitely be returning.
What a lovely, romantic restaurant (not just a wine bar). My husband and I both enjoyed our wine, which can be challenging for me because I’m quite picky, and the food was outstanding! We had the Spanish croquets, steak frites, and crab cakes. The service was extremely pleasant and no part of our time felt rushed; we just got to enjoy each other and our experience there. We will definitely be back and will be recommending this place.
Relaxed fine dining. Great for an intimate dinner or a family gathering. Friendly, accommodating service. Good wine selection.
The most perfect backdrop for a romantic night out or group outing with friends! The food was delicious and decor was a perfect blend of cozy and classy! My group ordered several of the dishes and split things up so we could try everything! Every plate was licked clean to the last morsel! Our server Emily was such a delight! She was attentive to our needs and had great recommendations and knowledge of both the food and wine menus.
What a fantastic dinner! The wine selection was great, the Beef Bourgogne was savory and delicious, and the basque cheesecake was perfect! Leslie was so helpful and attentive, he made our anniversary dinner with limoncello and champagne so special. Thanks so much for a great night!
My wife and I had a delightful experience at Pinard’s. The chocolate mousse and coffee were simply fantastic. My wife thoroughly enjoyed her pumpkin cheesecake. The ambiance is charming, with a French flair and cozy couches at some tables. The friendly and knowledgeable staff made our visit even more enjoyable. We’re already planning to return next week with friends for dinner.
It was our first time and we had a wonderful dining experience last week. The ambiance was delightful, the service with Emily was great and the food was exceptional. We started with some appetizers including duck pate that was to die for, had a rich and filling beef bourguignon, and finished with flavorful crème brûlée. What I forgot to mention was the extensive wine list, offering choices from around the world, priced so that one could enjoy a good bottle at a reasonable price. A great new place for Scottsdale!
Wow! This is a must go to. The French, Italian, and Spanish vibe makes the experience extra special. The Food was exceptional from the first bite. And for The first time in Scottsdale, I was completely impressed with the wine selection. It made miss Europe more but simultaneously soothing my palate. It is your casual weekly place for your Europe and wine fix.
Loved this place. Classy and comfortable. Staff was amazing. Portions were good and wine selection is excellent!!
I rarely write reviews, but had such a nice experience at this place it deserved a review. We originally planned on dining at Local Bistro (across the parking lot), but there was a wait to get a table and it was loud and crowded. We were looking for something more intimate. We decided to check out this new place, which just opened last month. We were hesitant at first because it was surprisingly empty, but we were greeted by a cheerful hostess. We sat down on a cozy sofa to check out the menu and decided to stay for dinner. A few things really stood out about this place... The seating was comfortable and intimate. Many of the tables have sofas, which is typical of wine bars. There is a lot of space between tables, so it is great for a romantic date or dinner with close family and friends. The staff was friendly and attentive. They all seemed genuinely happy to be there. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the wines and made excellent pairing suggestions. I ordered the Salade Nicoise, which I enjoyed with a glass of Albarino wine. It was carefully prepared with fresh ingredients. At the end of the meal we were offered a free glass of Limoncello, which was made in house. We had a pleasant dining experience and hope that others will give this place a try. We will certainly be back.
Our first visit was excellent. We sat the bar and had a glass of fine wine each and the duck mouse appetizer. Loved the ambiance and decor. Joined their wine club and signed up for a future wine dinner.
A wonderful evening in such a great atmosphere. The wine selection is great and the filet was melt in your mouth. Love this chef’s creativity.
We stopped in last night for a quick cocktail and appetizer. Fabulous atmosphere, impeccable service and amazing food. Can't wait to get back for dinner and wine! Lots of tempting choices on the menu.
Amazing food, superb quality, great wine and lovely atmosphere. This restaurant was simply stunning and the quality was far superior to the Preston’s, Morton’s and Fleming’s etc. of North Scottsdale. Think outside the box and try a little slice of foodie heaven here.
Absolutely loved the food and ambiance! Great wine selections by the bottle and glass and their wine program is attractive. Can’t wait to go back for a tasting or event. The beef bourguignon is a must try. We will definitely return!
What a cute spot! The food was amazing, the wine selection is more than I could imagine and they have an affordable wine club that gives you access to the coolest member's lounge that you can enjoy a private conversation or host a book club event! This for sure is my new spot.
Atmosphere of casual elegance. I’ve been to Pinard for dinner several times … each time better than the last! From the wonderful appetizers to the creative fabulous desserts, Pinard is the place to go!
First time at Pinard's and my wife and I had a fantastic meal! We will be repeat customers. Now, for details... We started with the fried artichoke and filet skewers, and we opted for a bottle of the Sokol Brosser pinot noir...delicious! Also, the wine menu was solid. Not overly extensive, but very well curated (IMHO)! For our main, we got the beef bourguignon and filet with au pauvre sauce... The beef bourguignon was the definition of layered savory. FANTASIC! I would go back just for this dish. BTW, the whipped mashed potatoes were amazing, too. The filet was perfectly cooked interior temperature with a proper sear and crust on the outside. The au pauvre was fantastic...just peppery enough with a fantastic kiss of warm spices. The sides also well-seasoned and perfectly cooked. For dessert, we both went for the chocolate mousse. We LOVE chocolate mousse and could not resist the temptation. The good news: the chocolate mousse was a very good pot de creme. The miss...it was not mousse. That said, it was delicious, and the rest of the food was so amazing, as was the service, I stand by my rating. I would only recommend 2 improvements: 1. The mousse is not a mousse, it is a pot de creme. Rename it, or address the recipe. The flavors were amazing, but the consistency and mouth-feel are not a mousse. That said, I would order it again! 2. The theme and vibe is on target. It felt like a quiet, off the main street bistro in Europe. I would recommend a much stronger coffee service. The coffee was "good". To match the 5+ rating on the rest of the food...enhance the coffee service. I recommend French Press...or even a Nitro coffee for when it is warmer, or both Bottom line...I will definitely be going back! The beef bourguignon is a destination dish. If nothing else was served, i would go back 3-4 times a month just for this entree!
A fabulous dining experience with great war staff and incredible food! We will return!
Wow such a cool place! Wine galore and amazing. Had chicken and mushroom dish with green beans & mashed potatoes. This dish was so delicious I couldn’t believe it. Must be organic chicken. So flavorful!
The vibe was great. The music was awesome. The service was welcoming and professional.
Let’s see what should I say first their water was great. Their appetizers were great. Their food and salad were great. The service was unbelievable. And the ambience was absolutely fantastic. so if you’re looking for a place to go to enjoy yourself think of this place I did and I enjoyed every minute. It was not super loud; I could actually hear everyone in my party speaking to me.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to this delightful restaurant. We received a warm welcome at the door, setting the tone for the evening. Our sommeiler/server Bisjan demonstrated good wine knowledge, and we enjoyed chatting with him during his efficient and gracious service. We tried several dishes, including the queso de calabra, the stuffed mushrooms, the mussels, and the beet and watermelon caprese salad. Everything was delicious and attractively presented. We tried the Basque cheesecake, which was very tasty and cooked to perfection. We found the olive oil lemon cake a bit dry. We enjoyed our glasses of recommended whites and reds (and could have continued sampling all evening - what fun!). What a great spot.
This is such an awesome spot. Great wine bar with exceptional food! Our bartender, Ali, was wonderful. The steak frites and Parisian chicken were truly both 10/10. Cooked perfectly, seasoned perfectly, good quality meats, etc. We sat at the barn and it was a great setting. Can’t wait to come back for happy hour!
Have been to this restaurant many times. Bijan and Taylor are wonderful waiters and waitresses if you are looking for attentive service. The food is excellent and I highly recommend the prime filet with au poivre sauce. They also have a excellent wine club that provides discounts for dining, free tastings on Saturday and bi monthly wine releases. A real gem in North Scottsdale.
We came here for the first time during restaurant week and we LOVED it! The service was super friendly and well paced. This is the perfect place to go if you want to enjoy good conversation with friends or family, as you never feel rushed and the music/ambient volume is not loud at all. I also really appreciated that the tables were spaced out a bit more than your "typical" restaurant- it keeps things comfortable and you're not hearing everything that the people around you are saying. The food was very good (we recommend the gazpacho and the veal!) and the wine list was even better- a nice balance of reds & whites with some interesting options. I just wish we lived closer because I would be here all the time!
Ali was our bartender and she was fantastic. She took the time to explain everything to us about the wine club and more. We will definitely be going back.
We really enjoyed our evening. This is our second time in and both times we’ve had exceptional service and great food. We had the salmon and the steak Caesar both were really good. The atmosphere was cozy, comfortable, and romantic. This was a nice find and we look forward to returning
We love Pinard! The wine selections are excellent. The service and atmosphere is excellent. The food is delicious. You feel like you are dining for a special occasion every time you go in.
Atmosphere nice , salmon mouse apptz good! 3 of us had beef bourguignon and it was closer to short rib and mash usually the French version has carrots and mushrooms and pearl onions and cubed beef that is recognizable in a thick broth served in a bowl not on a plate !!! I’d check Julia’s child’s version if I were them! Also was Luke warm. .Service great! Thx Taylor and Shawn.
A bit disappointed, although the food was tasty and well prepared, they were more than two items in menu that restaurant was out of. Good wine list
A waiter knocked over the Champaign bucket and doused us with water. Not even a "I'm sorry. They tossed table linen on the ground, which did nothing to clean up the mess. The cheese board was mediocre at best. The grapes served were old. The best was the bread and butters. Wine was so-so. Overall will look elsewhere for a wine bar experience.
The service was amazing! From entering the restaurant to leaving, every staff person was very nice and friendly! The food was just bland and plain- nothing special. They give you some "freebies", but so not tell you what you are getting. Yes, olives are obvious, but we had to ask what the deep friend item was. We had the salmon croquettes and while they looked good they were bland - the dipping sauce was good. The ham and cheese things were very bland and the warm cambembert cheese wasn't very warm. Overall, just mediocre food!
The service was fantastic. The food was average and overly expensive for what we received. The highlight was actually the young lady managing our table, water and clearing. She's awesome. Three small plates, two glasses of wine. The food wasn't seasoned well, light on the added sauces and our meat was not hot and was overcooked. $110.
Don't order steak. They say "aged beef" not! Filet and potatoes were salty. Not worth the $$$ I'm a chef and it's bad! Chocolate mouse was curdeled. You think they would taste before they serve!
When we were there on Thanksgiving the food and Martinis were great! However, we went back on 12/26 for our Anniversary dinner and was greatly disappointed. The food was not the same quality and the chicken was tough. The martinis were not the same as well. They had a 5 star with me on Thanksgiving but now it is a 1 star. Something drastically happened there. Not sure if they lost their Chef and bartender.
