A Hidden Gem with Unforgettable Indian Cuisine! I can't say enough good things about this amazing family-owned Indian restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such warmth and hospitality that we felt like honored guests in their home. The owner is an incredibly kind and welcoming man, always making sure we were comfortable and happy with our meal. His son, who served us, was so attentive and checked in on us throughout the night, and his daughter even shared some laughs with us when my husband declared the tandoori chicken a 10/10 the best he's ever had! Speaking of the food...wow! Every single dish was bursting with flavor and made with so much love. The baghaar-e-baingan was hands down the best I’ve ever had, and I had my first taste of dal 😩 I don’t know how I’ve gone this long without it because it was absolutely to die for. The chole bhatura was delicious, the paneer tikka masala was rich and flavorful, and the garlic naan dipped in the daal and baingan? Omg, I can’t even describe how amazing it was! To top it all off, they even treated us to some samples of other dishes, which we’ll definitely be ordering next time. The hospitality here is unmatched, the atmosphere is bright and welcoming, and the place is spotless. Truly a hidden gem that I’m so happy to have found. They’ve gained a loyal customer for life, and I can’t wait to come back for more! If you’re looking for authentic, mouthwatering Indian food served with genuine warmth and care, this is the place to go. Highly, highly recommend! 🙌
So happy to have this place so close to home. Delicious food, super friendly staff and it was so nice to see it packed on a weekday! They have unpretentious decor and the vibe is very down-to-earth. We loved the black dal, butter chicken, lamb rogan josh, garlic naan and mango lassi. Can't wait to try more dishes!!
On a business trip, and found this great Halal restaurant. It was very busy and they have a very large selection on their menu. I ordered the beef tikka kebab and tandoori chicken. The portions are really big. Pretty much for two people. The price was reasonable for the amount of the portions. The beef tikka kebab was flavorful and just the right amount of spices. The tandoori chicken was amazing and a lot of flavor and spices as well.
Update- We went again and had real good experience. ordered couple of items to go -Apollo fish, malai kofta, garlic naan and dum biryani. garlic naan was tasty delicious as well as big. Apollo fish was very tasty too and they were kind to say that we will make haleem if you order ahead. I would recommend them to anyone in my friends and family first visit We went for dinner, ordered masala dosa malai kofta . The food and service was good. The owners were kind enough to take our last orders as one person got delayed. The owner also came to our table to ensure things were taken care. I would go back again
Our go-to for Indian take-out! Very consistent with great flavors. Butter chicken and garlic naan are always a must, the tikka masala is also excellent. We haven’t ever eaten in the restaurant but I’m sure the service is excellent.
This is a wonderful family owned business and has become our go to for Indian food. The food is amazing and portions are generous! They will take great care of you. We have taken the recommendations and it has led to some great new favorites. Do yourself a favor and try it out!
Ate there for the first time yesterday. Glad they were open on a Monday. Had a craving form some chicken vidaloo curry all day and they did not disappoint. The curry was smooth and spiced just right. Excellent garlic naan soak up the sauce. Portion size was enough for dinner and lunch for one. The owner was very attentive and friendly. Definitely will be coming back.
Absolutely loved the food here! The flavors were rich, authentic, and perfectly balanced. Every dish tasted freshly prepared with high-quality ingredients specially butter paneer masala was so delicious. The staff was welcoming and attentive, making the entire experience even better. Highly recommend this place if you're craving delicious Indian cuisine!
Had a great experience here! The masala dosa was HUGE and came out crispy around the edges and piping hot. The green “chilly” chicken was fragrant and flavorful with big hunks of tender chicken. Tandoori chicken and bindi masala were also very good. Family run business that really takes pride in what they do.
From the moment you walk in, the warm environment, kind staff, and welcoming smiles give you a comforting, homely feeling. We’ve tried Chicken 65, tandoori chicken, chicken seekh kebab with bhatura, biryani, and chicken tikka, and every dish tastes amazing—full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and served in very generous portions. What truly sets this place apart is the hospitality. The staff and owners make you feel cared for, just like family. They are incredibly humble, attentive, and always ensure everything is perfect. Highly recommended—this place is not just about food, it’s about the feeling of home
Tried City of Spice in North Phoenix and wow — the food was outstanding. The chicken biryani was absolutely delicious, with incredibly soft and flavorful meat. Easily one of the best biryanis I’ve had in the area. They also have the best falooda and chai in town, hands down. Everything tasted fresh and well made. I’ll definitely be coming back and would highly recommend this place to anyone craving good Indian food.
Having recently moved from the UK (where we’re spoiled for choice with great Indian cuisine) it’s been hard to find somewhere in AZ that ticks all the boxes. So glad we found this place, went yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. The lamb rogan josh was the highlight, but it was all great - with a decent spice level too which I appreciate. Friendly service and fair prices. Wife & I will be returning… frequently.
This is hands down one of my top 3 favorite restaurants ever. From the customer service, to the prices, to the food itself, it’s all around perfect. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone wanting to experience authentic indian cuisine. My favorite is lamb curry made with coconut milk, extra spicy with a side of garlic naan. The lamb biryani is amazing too. 10/10.
City of Spice was introduced to me by my friend, probably because her mother-in-law got tired of feeding me 😂 But Indian food is hard to make😩 First online order? LIFE-CHANGING. One bite and I was like, “Why have I gone this long without this food??” The butter chicken + that broth??? LORD. HAVE. MERCY. The rice is good, but all I need is butter naan and butter chicken. The naan is so damn soft and fluffy! As far as the service, I did have one hiccup early on trying to order just naan over the phone. It was a little awkward, they thought I was pranking them. They did apologize, I forgave, and honestly I’ve been hooked ever since. Now listen… sometimes, not often, y’all can be a little light on the chicken👀 BUT TONIGHT? LOADED. I’m not mad at it AT ALL!! Bottom line: the food is incredible, the butter chicken broth is something I would literally bathe in! It's worth trying!
This is literally the best Indian food I've ever had in my entire life. I'm coming from the Atlanta Georgia area and every time I visit here for work I have to order from City of spice. This is the first restaurant I ever tried chicken 65 at and no other restaurant I've tried it at since can compare to this. The texture, the flavor, everything about it is absolutely delicious. Even the color is not your normal chicken 65 color. And the biryani is just as impressive. I always get the lamb. Packed with flavor and not just "heat" but actual spice (there's a difference).
Stopped by while we were waiting on an oil change down the street, we are so glad that we did. The waitress/ hostess was quick to seat us and take our order, she offered suggestions for an appetizer (Gogi Manchurian) and it did not disappoint, I could eat that for a meal! I ordered the Butter Masala Chicken and my hubby had the Goat Vindaloo. Both were fantastic. The garlic Naan was also tasty. We will be back. Thank you!
We had a good experience eating here. We ordered chaat, chana masala, chettinad chicken, and bhindi masala. The flavors were on point, and the naan were fluffy and buttery. The curries were rich, well-spiced, and tasted authentic. The only downside was the desserts (ras malai and rice kheer), which were well below average. The kheer had mashed rice that tasted odd and wasn’t pleasant.
We had an amazing experience taking out halal food to the Grand Canyon. Even the pickiest of kids loved their butter chicken. Chicken biryani was delicious. Take a sipper of their mango lassi in the sizzling heat of Phoenix. Their Irani chai felt like 555 (if you know what I mean). Slightly out of the way from I-17 but worth the extra time. If you’re a Hyderabadi, check this place out.
This is such a cute and delicious Indian food restaurant! The food was amazing and although it's more laid back (the drinks come in bottles only; no soda machines), I thought the food was really high quality and portions were perfect. We got manchurian chicken, chicken tikka masala, samosas, garlic naan, and garlic cheese naan and it was so good! The service was outstanding! Everyone was so kind and helpful and checked on us many times. I really love this little spot and will certainly be back!
Absolutely one of our favorite spots for Indian cuisine! The food is incredibly delicious and tastes just like a homemade meal - so authentic and full of flavor. The spices are always perfectly balanced, and the meat in the main dishes is unbelievably tender every single time. We’re obsessed with their mango lassi - it’s the best we’ve had anywhere! Even though we live almost an hour away, we make the trip once a week because it’s that good. It’s become our go-to treat, and the consistency keeps us coming back. Highly recommend to anyone craving real, soul-satisfying Indian food!
This is by far some of the best Indian food I've had in YEARS. We walked in and everyone in the restaurant was Indian so we took that as a good sign. And boy were we not disappointed. Every sauce had rich depth and so much flavor. There's not in the way of atmosphere but if you're looking for next level flavors, look no further! We can't wait to come back again.
This place is great! They brought us a big book of every single dish they have with a detailed description of every single dish. we got the chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, chicken biryani and egg biryani. It was so good that we licked the bowl clean! We got mango lassi and they recommended to have it after the meal and it was perfection! The owner brought us our food and he was very nice and recommended foods to us. I highly recommend this place!
Mouthwatering authentic Indian dishes! This was my first time here just a few weeks ago and I'm definitely returning. We had a combo of vegetarian and non-veg dishes with South indian bread. I also tried my first Thumbs Up, something I forgot to try while in India earlier this year. It was 👍🏼 even though I dont drink soda. This is a small family owned establishment. And it's obvious they put their hearts into this restaurant. You can ask for the menu binder which shows you photos of every dish (there are many). Usually Indian food in restaurants are too salty but not here. Conveniently located on Bell Rd in North Phoenix. I will definitely be bringing all my out of town guests here.
Absolutely stellar Indian food! The service is spectacular as well. The only downside is only bottled water and drinks so no fountain drinks but don't let that deter you from trying this place. I tried things that I probably wouldn't have ordered meeting up with some friends and WOW! So much flavor and I've yet to find something here I don't like. You gotta try the garlic cheese naan it's out of this world! This is now my current favorite Indian food restaurant.
If you love Indian/Pakistani Food trust me you can not find a better place then City of Spice restaurant. This restaurant is located in a strip mall. We party of four from Washington/Oregon were visiting Phoenix and came across this restaurant . Nice seating and food was incredible. The owner Mr. Syed Azhar has an excellent customer service What also made it so great is that it's a family run place who do everything to make you feel like as if you’re belong there. The service sets them apart.
Located in a questionable area, it was greatly to my surprise when I walked into City of Spice. The atmosphere was pleasant with a solid incense aroma in the air. The premises were very clean and well maintained as also. What initially grabbed my attention was the prices. Their menu was slightly cheaper than others. However, the quality of food missed not a single beat! The food was delicious and upheld the ideal of great restaurant food. The owner (or who I believed to be the owner), truly had a vested interest as he went from table to table to ensure his guests had no problems; he was very hospitable. Since it's not located too far from where I live, I will definitely be making a stop in the future. Great work, City of Spice!
The owners and family are extremely friendly and helpful. I ordered the Palak Paneer and the Shrimp🍤 Chettinad . The Chettinaad was very good!!! I would’ve liked some cardamom flavor coming through. The rice was very bland, it could use some Ghee! I like the way that the paneer cubes were sautéed and have a little golden crisp.
Ordered on their website and it was very easy. Got spicy and it was truly spiced! It’s so yummy and flavorful tried 3 vegan dishes and chicken tiki masala and lamb biriyani with some garlic naan. I was satisfied and it was plenty of food.
The service was good. The waiter checked in a couple times. I liked that we could choose a booth by the window but it shook with every movement. It's a casual place. Most people that came in had ordered takeout in advance. The menu is large with just the item names and prices. I docked points for food because they said my order could be no spice but it arrived too spicy for me to enjoy. The mango yogurt drink did help with that. It's quite sweet with no tang. I was able to eat the naan, though the 2 portions pictured were too much at once. It felt powdery, more charred on the bottom, with small juicy bits of garlic.
