My new favorite sushi date night spot! The vibe here is impeccable and the staff and owner are so gracious, attentive and sweet. We tried several dishes: bluefin toro nigiri, salmon belly sashimi, Szechuan pork ribs, peacock roll, hamachi collar and the beef wagyu yakitori. All were absolutely delicious, but my personal favorite was the wagyu yakitori. We also highly recommend the Wildflowers sake. Definitely stop by this new restaurant!
Absolutely phenomenal! I usually don’t step outside my comfort zone when it comes to food, but I decided to try this new sushi spot in town — and I’m so glad I did. Every bite was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was inviting, and the entire experience truly exceeded my expectations. The 72 Hour Wagyu Short Rib melts in your mouth! Can't wait to go back! 🍣✨
The restaurant was beautiful inside and the food was amazing! Our favorite role isn't featured because we ate it that fast the ramen, miso soup, and rolls were great! They included a lot of fish and the portions were very generous. We will be coming back!
Just popped in with a friend and what a treat! Exceptional service, yummy rolls and great atmosphere. Perfect for date night or just brunch. Restaurants in Scottsdale area are a bit hit and miss but this hit the spot. Great addition to DC ranch if this is a new joint. If not, it feels new and clean and is now my favourite sushi joint in the area!
Upon arrival, the hostess was very flat with no greeting. We had made a reservation for indoor seating days prior but were sat outside. When we asked about sitting inside, the hostess stared at us blankly with an awkwardly long silence before telling our party we could sit at the bar. We then asked if waiting would allow us to be seated inside as originally requested. Again, after another long pause, she repeated that the bar was available. With a start like this, we weren’t sure how the rest of our visit would go. That said, there are plenty of heaters outside, which made for a comfortable dining experience despite not getting our preferred seating. We ordered drinks and a few appetizers. Our server did a great job giving thoughtful suggestions for both appetizers and entrée orders. We received two appetizers before our drinks arrived. Our party ordered several rolls, and they were absolutely delicious. Each roll had distinctive flavor profiles, which is huge for us when eating sushi. Beyond freshness, which is expected, the fact that each roll truly tasted different really stood out. When we placed a second round of cocktail orders, the wait was again quite long. The restaurant has a good vibe and a chic atmosphere. One downside is that the bathrooms are shared between men and women. With shared restrooms, regular sweeps are really important. No woman wants to stand in urine when trying to use the restroom. Overall, despite the rough start and a few service issues, this new sushi spot is definitely worth trying. The flavor profiles are outstanding, and the quality of the rolls truly shines.
Amazing new Sushi restaurant in DC Ranch located across from The Living Room. Delicious food and generous portions. Service was also outstanding. Gorgeous covered outdoor patio with comfy seating with shade or sun and heaters for chilly days. Cozy booths, tables and large sushi bar inside. Great value for the money. Menu offered options for fresh sushi, seafood and meat lovers.
I wanted to share that my experience here on Valentine’s Day has been amazing. Tosh and Yari were amazing servers. I would love to preface the service. It’s absolutely amazing. They could not have hired better people. Food is amazing wagyu sushi and we got the lobster and shrimp sushi as well as the fried rice absolutely nine out of 10 easy. Again amazing place, it’s pricy but actually worth it!
My wife and I have been anticipating the opening of Tomu San Sushi and it did not disappoint. The food was delicious, well prepared, and good portion size. We enjoyed a few rolls, seared tuna, and short ribs. Great atmosphere for a date night. We brought our daughter , so it’s good for families too. The staff was attentive and friendly. A great addition to the Marketplace!
I was pleasantly surprised with how great the sushi was. DC ranch area needed a good sushi restaurant. The rolls aren’t just filled with imitation crab too, if you know what I mean. ;) We sat at the sushi bar - service was great. The Chuck Norris roll was my fav.
10/10!!! Omg! The freshest, most incredible sushi experience in AZ hands down!! (coming from an AZ native) If you're looking for ambiance, incredible flavors and a place to wow your taste buds and a special someone....this is the place!! Kudos to you TFK!! Hats off to you!!!
Came here for a birthday and it did not disappoint the food was amazing and the service was awesome, always attentive and answered any questions regarding the menu. The sushi was so fresh and each roll was unique and tasty will definitely be returning in the future!
I took my wife here for our wedding anniversary and it was fantastic! Mikey was our server and he took really good care of us. Very classy place and the staff were great
Excellent food and service. Our server Elise was wonderful and attentive. Highly recommend, we’ll be back!
Service was great - the guy who served us, Michael, was fantastic… he even offered to go across the street to get us a coffee and then ran us down in the parking lot when my daughter forgot her purse at the table.
Great quality fish, creative menu and nice ambiance. This is my new hang out spot.
Great food !!! Quickly becoming our only Sushi restaurant!!
Excellent lunch! We had 2 different Bento Boxes. It came w/ soup, salad, sushi roll, rice, kimchi , and main dish. SO MUCH good food! I'm glad to have a sushi place in the neighborhood!
I’ve been here twice now, first time the service was really bad, second time the service was much better. Food was really good both times, but wow a coke cost 6 dollars that’s actual robbery, maybe it’s because it came in a glass bottle but never in my mind will 6 dollars for a coke be anything but ridiculous. There is plenty of sushi places all over Arizona with sushi just as good that will be atleast 30 percent cheaper, your paying to eat in DC Ranch.
they want to be different and it doesnt work. Way to much rice in the sushi rolls, they should stick to regular Japanese sushi routine.
We went here after seeing them featured in the news as a new restaurant. I cannot recommend. The service was good, but the food was subpar. The menu looked fabulous for their specialty rolls, but the flavor was lacking. Very disappointing as there were a lot of flavor profiles offered, but the flavor wasn't present. The crab in their rolls, not listed as soft shell, contained bits of shell and I was constantly picking shell out of my mouth while eating. As this is a new restaurant, I hope they take the constructive criticism and do better, otherwise this will be another DC Ranch restaurant fail. Also the music was deafeningly loud and unnecessary.
I never understand why these restaurants at DC Ranch Marketplace never deliver. Perhaps it’s because they think everyone sold and won’t care about quality of food? The food here was awful and I have some simple advice you should have known before you opened a “Japanese” restaurant 1) Ramen - serve in a real ramen bowl and don’t fill to top so you can even eat the broth. Now that you mention broth 2) You don’t even have a standard ramen spoon…I asked for a spoon and got a standard spoon. Part of eating ramen is the experience. 3) Ramen again - way too much seaweed, to the point that’s all you taste. 4) your dumplings - ground beef dumplings…enough said 4) Salmon tots - you should know that you always serve tuna on tots. Your salmon was so strong on these and that’s all you tasted. Only ate one My guess is it’s a white owner with 0 Asian food history. Usually don’t post reviews but had to.
The restaurant is nice, service was great. Food is atrocious which is a shame because the quality of the fish is good. But they put 0 effort into the sushi rice, so it has no flavor to it. They compensate the same way that a cheap sushi restaurant would, by frying the sushi and dousing it in fatty, sugary, sauces. The actual food is terrible for the price. This restaurant prices itself like a nobu but the chef clearly doesn’t know what they are doing. They added truffle oil to a miso soup…nonsense. There was not a single thing I ate here that I would come back for.
Our waitress was terrible! We asked to split our check (two couples/2 checks) and our waitress very rudely told us we could put down as many credit cards as we wanted but she couldn’t split our bill….REALLY! We basically had haughty service, slow delivery of drinks, had to ask for water refills and were never asked if there was anything we needed. Food was good, but expensive. We’re not going back. Disappointing!
Service was good the food was not especially the sushi rolls. The fish did not taste fresh at all wouldn't recommend.
Went here on a fairly busy Friday night. They really upgraded the space relative to prior owner. Nice ambience. However the food was subpar at best. There are many other sushi places in a 5 mile radius with exceptional food and lower prices. I wanted this place to be good but was underwhelmed. I hope it’s not just the latest restaurant to try this corner spot on Market Street.
