Opinions de Khom Loi Sebastopol
This is hands down my favorite restaurant in Sebastopol. Never disappoints - excellent value, flavor and so fresh. My only wish is that they wouldn’t use those toxic black plastic containers for the curry/soupy dishes - perhaps a cardboard soup cup with a lid could replace those easily. Those have been found to be very toxic - especially when heated and are forever chemicals/landfill items. I hope this reaches the management as I think their food is so delicious.
Excellent food. Many delicious vegetarian options. Mushroom salad is a standout. Food came out very fast. Service is friendly, a bit casual. Lovely interior.
Brought our friend (originally from Bangkok) to Khom Loi. She was blown away by the food, and wanted to meet Chef Luis and praise his fine cookery! She plans to visit every time she's driving up from the East Bay and will be recommending Khom Loi to other friends isiting Sonoma County from all over the globe! The steelhead trout dish was impeccable.
The salmon crudo appy was one of the yummiest things I have ever tasted. So much flavour and beautifully plated. I would come back just to have this again. We also loved the green curry and papaya salad. Had the fried chicken and the spot prawns as well which were fine. Nice short beer and wine selection, would have liked to have options for cocktails. Wait staff were lovely and very attentive. Can’t wait to come back :)
Wow, delicious across the board, and so many Gluten Free options! Everything was great, flavors were precise and authentic. Will absolutely be back many more times. Update: been back multiple times, love it every time! Fried chicken was frickin crazy good. Papaya salad was perfect. Duck was delightful.
Highlights - Whole fried rock fish and crispy pork belly I fell in love with the design and ambience of Khom Loi. I am a fan of the sister restaurant Ramen Gaijin and I definitely felt the same vibes here. The menu is inviting without being pretentious. There are very familiar dishes like pad thai and drunken noodles but I encourage everyone to step out of their comfort zone and try something new. I had a great host, Chris, who offered to help us navigate the dishes. Awesome place that definitely deserves its Bib Gourmand accolade.
Loved the atmosphere! It's very nice on a beautiful day. The service was kind, attentive and knowledgeable. The food was amazing! The fried dumplings were great, the fried chicken was so crispy, the pad Thai was good but the black cod was the best I have ever had!
Well, as expected. Delicious! Not pretentious, large satisfying portions, fairly priced, (I would have paid more) $16. For the pork belly with crispy skin!! Enough for two to share. Just what Sebastopol needed! Oh and excellent service. If you haven't eaten here yet, go now! Shoot I just made myself hungry writing this review. 😑
Khom Loi is the type of restaurant that will make you travel through food. We followed the recommendations of our server and everything we ate was tasty and original. The place itself is also beautiful with the pond and the bamboo lights.
Ordered food to go and had a quick beer. The atmosphere is great, with awesome service. We were in a business upstairs and heard how good this place was, so my wife and I ordered, and both enjoyed the great food.
We had an amazing meal here last night. It felt like a flavor explosion in the best way possible. The ambiance was also lovely - I love the hanging lights that envelope the room in warm yellow light. Service was great as well. Oh and the soft serve sundae was amazing! I highly recommend this restaurant!
It's one of my favorite local spots in sebastopol! The food is always so delicious and flavorful, the staff are super friendly & go above & beyond always. The vibe is super chill, very casual! Their take on thai food is unique but also very authentic to the Thai flavors that we all crave & love! The food menu is packed with delicious appetizers for both vegetarian and meat eaters, great shareable main dishes, and a massive wine list! Their charcoal grilled Japanese eggplant salad with the amazing flavors of shallots, cilantro, mint, basil, lime, little fried shrimps, just pop! A must try is their grilled mushroom salad also, I crave it! I always get their drunken noodles with the pork that's loaded with baby corn, bell peppers, Thai Basil, rice noodles & so much more! My friend loves the green curry with sweet potatoes and tofu! There are so many wonderful vegan & vegetarian dishes available that it makes for a great spot for everyone. My other favorite appetizers are their fried peanuts loaded with lemongrass, chili, and lime flavors are addictive! The crispy fried chive dumplings are amazing and a must try with the dipping sauces! The Thai fried chicken is epic and a must for the meat eaters! They have this plate that's meant to be shared between 2-3 people that's a massive crispy fried rock cod fish that comes out whole fully loaded with delicious Thai chili sauces! It looks amazing and I hear great reviews! Everyone watches it come out of the kitchen! All their food is amazing, and the chefs do a great job with the consistency of flavors. 5 stars all around! The service is always top-notch even when they are busy. I appreciate their staff for always being kind. Everyone I've ever encountered here over the past couple of years coming here has been wonderful, friendly & makes the dining experience that much memorable! Thank you Khom Loi staff for always being awesome & amazing! Great spot for groups, families, friends, date night. The vibe is very casual. Bring a jacket as you will most likely be sitting in their unique outdoor/ indoor patio that's so beautiful with a small pond & lots of foliage, plants, flowers, etc. Parking is limited but easy. There's many options on the street or a few in their small parking lot. They have lots of great wines, beers & a rotating cider. Overall, it is an amazing restaurant that sebastopol is lucky to have! I drive all the way from Bodega Bay to eat here with my friend who is vegan, it's such a great spot!
Khom Loi in Sebastopol is easily the freshest and most authentic Thai food I’ve had in the Bay Area. Every dish was bursting with flavor and tasted incredibly fresh. The portions were generous, making it a great value, and the service was top notch from start to finish. You can tell the ingredients and preparation are handled with real care. The flavors were out of this world, with the perfect balance of spice, herbs, and texture. I’m so glad I found this place and will definitely be coming back soon. An easy five stars and worth the drive, I’ll definitely be back.
Progressive Californian Thai food. Fresh, locally sourced, creative, exceptional. Pretty cheap for what it is honestly. It makes no sense. You can get an entree for between 15-25 on average and apps are in the 10-20 range. The portions are generally generous too. Just ask your waiter depending on what you’re getting. I always get the green papaya salad with sticky rice for everyone to share. Pad Thai is always a fav. They’ve got great options for vegetarian/plant based eaters for sure. And an excellent drink list. I’ve been coming here for years and the quality is always on point. It’s usually best to have a reservation. When I came tonight somehow the place was a lot more mellow. Not sure what that was about. Never seen it like that. Definitely check it out!!
Wish we had this place near us, but also thankful we don't or else we would spend all our money. Our kids love Thai food and were so happy to get Paid Thai, green curry (yes they loved all the veggies in the curry), Thai iced Tea, and my husband and I loved the peanut crack. Love that we could eat on the patio with our dog, but I wouldn't really call it a patio as it was basically enclosed and little flies were flying around everywhere. Reminded me a bit of eating in actual Thailand years ago. Not a whole lot of parking, BUT if you park on Florence you can walk off your overeating while looking at all the cool art by Patrick Amiot.
Absolutely DELICIOUS!!! The food was outstanding, very tasty and authentic. I would highly recommend getting the peanuts to start, they were exceptional. Our waitress didn’t seem very interested in us which was unfortunate as the restaurant was not busy.
Unique and unlike any Thai food I’ve had. Beautiful ambiance. Fun young crowd. The whole fried fish is amazing and super spicy. The music is fun to dance to in your chair. Do not skip the Sundae or if you want to be conservative go with the Strauss soft serve. Even though they don’t do cocktails, the wine list is fantastic.
What a great dining experience! First, the ambiance gives an immediate feel like you’re in South Asia with a blend of indoor/outdoor within a tropical setting. The service and operations has their game down perfect. The food comes out quickly but organized. The service is disciplined to never miss a beat with diners. And the food is incredible. The presentation is impeccable and making you wished you ordered seconds! The fish entrees are amazing, especially the Black Cod or the Rock Fish! Rock Fish was my favorite. And save room for the desserts! The sundae will never let you regret it! Make reservations!
Excellent Red Curry beef and potato dish...Very spicy! Very good sausage pate with pickled onions and an exceptional steak salad that was kind of salty but wonderful. The ice cream dish my niece and I shared was delicious too!
Khom Loi is the secret garden tucked away in Sebastopol. Walking through the doors you enter into this greenhouse that feels unlike any other restaurant. But this isn’t a case of an ambient vibe and bad food, no this is where the best Thai food in Sonoma County can be found. As a vegan there are ample options on the menu for not only me but nearly any diet. Highly recommend the fried chive dumplings and the pad Thai.

Let me begin with this, Ren and Daniel were phenomenal servers. They were attentive and gave great recommendations on food and wine. Two very knowledgeable and friendly individuals. To continue, the food was the best Thai food I’ve had, coupled with a great vibe made this a must stop if you find yourself in Sepastopol or surrounding area.
Top to bottom one of the best establishments in all of West County. Creative and inventive Thai food which is sorely needed in these parts along with amazing service. This is a mainstay for us!
I met a friend here for dinner and was transported! The atmosphere welcomed us with a magical dining room that was so serene with fountains, high ceilings and lush foliage. The server (Oliver?) and the support staff were wonderful and the food was fantastic. We had a mushroom salad, fried chicken with lettuce cups and lamb. The wine list was diverse, too.
The owners here, who also own a ramen restaurant in town, clearly have the magic touch. The food here is absolutely terrific, and much more authentic than most of the Thai food I have had in other places in the US and Canada. The flavors have richness and depth, and there is a great deal of variation between the excellently prepared but unfussy dishes. Everything was simply delicious. We especially enjoyed getting here for the discounted happy hour before 5 p.m. But truly the food was the outstanding feature here. The service was also very good, and the interior decor is stunning yet comfortable. Highly recommended.
Listen. I’m picky. I can honestly say this is the best Thai food I’ve had in a long time. I ordered papaya salad and pad Thai to go. It was so fire and it was TO GO. Lol. Very flavorful, very fresh, and the pad Thai comes with prawns you don’t have to add them on. Amazing. The chicken in the pad Thai was very moist and juicy as well. Check them out :)
Wowed from the moment I walked in. I love the decor, the ambiance and the music and the style of service which was casual but also felt authentic. At first bite I said out loud I’m coming back here again. I frequently visit Thai and Lao restaurants and I feel confident about my ability to distinguish original and authentic flavors in food and I was stunned by the consideration to legitimate ingredients and preparation methods used by the kitchen. I ordered the Papaya Salad, the Khao Tod Hed Laab, Pla Thawt Lat Prik and I was so satisfied with each bite. The fish came with a fermented dipping sauce that is rarely seen at a lot of Thai places however enhances the dish tremendously. The restaurant has a very polished wine list and on a future visit I look forward to trying the rest of the menu. Thank you for such a fabulous trip of my taste bugs!

The fried fish really blew me away. People who are not accustomed to being served a whole fish, bones and all, can order this dish to expand their horizons. It was well done. They fried it in a way which got the skin crispy without compromising the meat and the taste and juice remained. The tamarind sauce was absolutely perfect. The spice, sweetness, and flavor were in harmony. We ordered the beef dish which was good and the duck dish was bland and tiny. It was not what I was expecting.. in a disappointing way.
What can I say, thai food is delicious, I was happy with most things on the menu, loved the fried chicken with the fried kefir leaves, pad thai really good but not a fan of the chives dumplings. Come in the happy hour, great deals and the food offering is great as well, had a fun time with my girlfriend. Will definitely come back
Beautiful place! We loved Garlic Chive Dumplings here. The other food was good too. Fried chicken was different from what you get at other places. It was super crispy but a little on the dryer side. The atmosphere was good. Tables are a bit closer to each other so it was noisier than expected but that's okay.
Fantastic food, fast service, but when they hand you your bill… make sure to check the math. When we looked at the tip options, they were pre-set percentages for options. And all of the math for the percentages was off. We did let our waitress know since she was really great. Either they are under paying the staff with their tips or they just have their math very very wrong. Either way, make sure to check the math yourself when tipping.
Ok so, the food was very good. The only reason why I give 4 stars instead of 5 is unfortunately we had a new waitress, she forgot my husbands meal so we had to spilt mine, didn’t know what to recommend and when she picked up plates at the end spilled it on me. Yes I know she’s new and sometimes nerves can get in the way so I wouldn’t rate this place lower than a 4 do to that. The food was very good and the building itself is really neat.

The food was being tasty and we highly recommend it! If you're eating in, ask for a take away from both doors as it gets rather chilly with them opening every few minutes. Ask when you sit down if they're out of anything because they were missing the first four items we tried to get from the drink menu which really slowed down the process.

Gave this place a try on special occasion, early evening reservation. Sat down quickly, ordered 3 plates, black cod, chicken, noodle plate. Asked for sauce on side for fish, wife not into heat. Fish came out cooked in chili sauce, too hot for wife, I can handle heat at highest levels but it was too hot and no way could u taste fish with this sauce. The chicken was OK, kind of like Santung chinese restaurant in the city but not as tasty. We let hostess who cleaned up plates know about the missed order on cod, waitress never acknowledged error and was lacking in service. Will not be back, service and food was not worth price. Tasting the fish is important for a long time seafood hunter like me. It was essentially not possible because of sauce.
My partner’s main dish (which was an appetizer) came out in about 10 minutes. She ordered it as her main dish and finished it 40 minutes before the other two of us received our dinners. My dish was okay, but my mother-in-laws dish was semi-hot. Good, yeah, but not so good that I’ll want to return. They did ask if we had any food allergies, which was appropriate…kinda upset as I was told how unique and great the experience was supposed to be
The restaurant's layout is incredibly bizarre, and I'm surprised it's not discussed more. Our family was seated directly beneath a narrow walkway used by staff returning from the restroom. This walkway is riddled with small holes, meaning we were eating directly underfoot. The fact that employees are walking above diners in this manner raises serious concerns about the owner's respect for customer hygiene. I even witnessed a customer walking their dog over the same area where people were eating. This setup is deeply unhygienic; it's impossible to know what might fall from shoes into customers' food. When I asked the waitstaff if the holes were covered with a protective layer, they confirmed they were not. This is unacceptable. In addition, the restaurant had a significant fruit fly problem, with flies constantly landing in our drinks and food. The service was also erratic and slow, likely due to kitchen issues. While the food itself was good, the overall experience was disappointing, and I won't be returning. Especially after receiving Michelin recognition, these issues should be addressed.
Beware your clothes and hair will stink if you sit near the bar and kitchen area. Terrible ventilation, smoke and steam is billowing into the dining room. Eyes are watering. People are coughing. Also when we sat down at 715pm on Sunday night we were told more than half the main dishes were not available. Disappointing. The dishes we could order were good, especially the chive dumplings and noodles.
I recently visited Khom Loi, hoping to enjoy some authentic Thai cuisine, but unfortunately, my experience fell short. The owners and staff are not Thai, which isn't necessarily a problem, but it seemed to reflect in the dishes. The flavors lacked the depth and authenticity I was expecting from Thai food. Some dishes were overly salty or over seasoned. For example, the fried chicken (Gai Todd), was salty and over floured which didn’t have the balance I was hoping for. The crispy rice (Nam Kao) was also super salty and lacked the crispiness that is characteristic of the dish - we sent this one back as it was inedible. The papaya salad was perhaps the best dish; however, authentic papaya salad doesn’t have basil in it, which threw the dish off a bit. On a brighter note, the crispy chive dumpling was good, with great texture and two interesting spicy sauces that added a nice kick. On the positive side, the atmosphere was really nice, with a warm and inviting ambiance that made for a pleasant dining experience. The service was also friendly and attentive. However, when it comes to the food, it just didn’t hit the mark. If you’re looking for a true Thai experience, you might want to explore other options. But if you're open to a more Westernized take on Thai food, Khom Loi could still be enjoyable for a casual meal.
We were sat at a very small table, which was very sticky. I asked if we could have a bigger table and we were told no, they were busy tonight. Service was very slow. The two tables on either side of us were served before we were. I had looked at the menu online and it picked out two or three items that I was interested in, but none of them were on the actual menu. They said that the menu is not kept up-to-date online. I expected a Michelin rated restaurant to be much better quality as far as presentation and taste, but it was not! Very disappointed and will not be returning!!! Oh, and a piece of chicken skin was in my food. I asked for no tofu and a little bit more chicken instead. I could hardly even find chicken in the dinner. As I was eating the leftovers later, I tasted a very fishy flavor in the noodles, which is hard to believe since there was only three shrimp on the side.

We had an okay experience here. I was expecting a more elevated experience since it is a Michelin rated restaurant. We had a reservation but came early so they sat us in the front, interior area RIGHT NEXT (like 6" away) to the only other occupied table. I felt like I interrupted their vibe. I thought maybe the restaurant has a bunch of reservations but that was not the case. They were actually quite dead for a Friday night since the staff kept talking about that to themselves. We asked to move to another table. I know we were early but if they had mentioned we could have a better table if we waited (On the patio- which is a must if you want a nice experience visually), we could have waited but that wasn't discussed. Then when the waitress brought my wine, the glass was dirty with water spots. This was ironic since a member of their staff was meticulously cleaning the water glasses behind the bar in my line of site. I guess I should have ordered water instead of a $16 glass of Pinot. The food was good though - the best Thai food we've had since moving up here from Oakland. Everyone that worked there looked very young which is totally fine but didn't seem very experienced (except one guy) and I would have appreciated a higher level of service given the Michelin rating. But I guess it's overhyped at this point. I am also crabby about it because my husband and I never go out to nice places much since we have young kids but we had a random 'night off' from being parents. If I went again, I would know what to expect AND also make sure we are seated on the patio. Or just get expensive take-out for a special treat.

I arrived with 2 friends to have a meal and enjoy each other’s company. We ordered an appetizer and drinks which were served in a reasonable amount of time. However, what happened next was strange and annoying. The first entree came out in about 30 minutes. Not too bad but we were left wondering where were the other plates. The second came out about 20 minutes later. This was perplexing because the third meal wasn’t served at all. I went to speak to the waiter. He offered an explanation. He said the kitchen was very small. The waiter appeared to be more defensive than he was apologetic. Finally the third meal came approximately 45 minutes later. When arriving with the check the waiter offered no encouragement to return or question about our experience. Very strange experience to say the least
There are plenty of good authentic Thai in the area. Why choose this one? Portion is small and does not taste good.
My wife and I visited this restaurant on January 8 and ordered the dumplings, Pad Thai, green curry chicken, and yum duck confit. The dumplings were normal, but the sauce was quite different from what we’re used to in Thailand. It is usually sweet, but this one tasted more like plain soy sauce. The Pad Thai was okay. The yum duck confit was great — definitely the highlight of the meal. Unfortunately, we did not like the green curry chicken at all. We only took one sip of the curry soup and asked if we could exchange it for something else. The server told us that we would still be charged half the price, which was disappointing. No alternative solution was offered, and the server’s attitude made the situation uncomfortable. Because of that, we didn’t feel like continuing the meal and asked for the check right away. For a restaurant that is Michelin-recommended, we expected better service and better overall quality compared to other Thai restaurants. The experience did not meet those expectations.
