This place has very good food. Service is polite. Bathrooms are clean. I grew up with the original Garcia's in San Marcos. Always have had great food, excellent service. Place is always clean. So now we have a lot more locations to eat at. It is nice to be able to go to Kyle, Seguin, Schertz , Lockhart, and or course San Marcos.
OMGosh this place is to die for...3 “mature” women looking for for breakfast...Googled and found this gem in Seguin Tx...seated very quickly...Alicia was our wonderful waitress...the chips are TO DIE FOR...bought a bag to take with...refried beans delish...everything cooked as ordered...2 different hot sauces...warning the “spicy”, IS...thank you for having gravy because I was craving 🥰
Food was great. Only downside was very busy around lunch.
Their dining room is open. Today was my first time eating here. The first thing they brought us was chips and salsa. The chips were SOOOO good. Perfectly salted and crispy and their salsa complemented beautifully. I ordered a tamale dinner with beans and rice and it was all wonderful! Their service was excellent and I cant wait to eat there again!
Stopped in on a road trip. Fantastic atmosphere. Decorated authentically. Food was amazing. Large portions. Kid friendly. Friendly wait staff. Never had to ask for a refill. Very attentive. Hardly any wait. Would go again if I'm in the area.
Yum. The chips are uniquely popped crispy and light. The salsa is thick enough so it doesn't make a mess and properly hot. It has everything Tex-Mex so it's perfect in this style. But I'm missing Mexican ceviche, huitlacoche, and tortas.
Traveling - stopped in for dinner. The mixed fajita platter was awesome. I opted for extra grilled veggies instead or rise and beans. Our waiter handled it perfectly. Their green sauce is amazing. Hot stuff but yummy.
I was very impressed by my whole experience. From calling in to ask if they were open until the end of day. (Open until 9) To placing my order and picking it up curbside. The young lady that took my order and brought it out to my SUV was very sweet and greeted me with a smile, on the phone and at my vehicle. I ordered the crispy taco dinner with rice and charro beans. Since I had to travel with the food. I asked if the meat and fixing could all be separate from the crispy taco shells, and without hesitation the young lady said, of course. Thank you Garcia's for staying open normal business hours and having great servers. The management has to be doing something right, because it shows!
Very homely like. Friendly staff. Clean and the food was very good!
Enjoyed our food at this convenient location. Love the sopapillas. Good customer service. They due charge a service fee for credit cards. Blessings during this new year!
Whenever we go to San Antonio, we usually stop at Garcia's for breakfast, which is always delicious. We usually ask for Madi, the waitress, she is super!
Food is always consistently good! Staff is always so nice! Love coming here when i am in town!
The deluxe dinner was the way to go! It had an enchilada and tamale covered in delicious gravy and cheese, plus a chalupa and taco. Quesadillas were wonderful too. Absolutely loved their chips and salsa. Will definitely be back. Right off the interstate and plenty of parking.
Food was so good!!!! We will definitely return when we're in the area.
Great dining experience, great food, great staff.
Stopped. In for a quick lunch on our way to Houston. We were seated quickly and food was great! Waitress was friendly and helpful and attemtive. I got the mom#1 and it was more than enough. Husband got Fiesta plate and everything was fresh and tasty. Definitely will be back!
Quality Food , Friendly Service, is what you will encounter when you done at this Garcia's Restaurant. I Love the salsa and the unique chips. I ordered the Chicken Fried Chicken and it was a so good.
Although it may not look impressive from the outside, this is a great restaurant. The authentic feel, friendly service and delicious food make it worth the stop. The salsa is one of my favorites and the chips are light and crispy. Everyone in the group liked what they ordered.
Restroom very clean and food is outstanding VERY bad service/ was the last to get food and chips and salsa even though I was was before the others that got served. I told her to have my Tortillas well cook Not white, but I sent them back NOT once but twice, then here they come AFTER I finish my food. I go there 3 times a month. NO MORE.
Awesome experience and good food. We were driving through town on our way home from hunting in S Texas and came in about 30 minutes before close. Thought we might be pushing it, but they welcomed us like it was no problem. The lady running things was super friendly and hospitable, but the really impressive thing happened right at closing. This gentleman came in asking if it would be possible to still eat there, even whatever leftovers they had cooked as they were on the road and had car trouble. Now mind you, they were pretty much finished for the night and cleaning up and definitely looking forward to going home, but the manager went back to the kitchen to check and see if her people could whip up some food, and they welcomed them like it was no problem at all. Small town hospitality, or just really good business practice, this is the kind of service you won't see in the big cities. Kudos.
Garcia's is my favorite Mexican restaurant and has been for over 27 years! Everything is always good, including the service.
Friendly staff- food came out quickly for a to go order. Nachos were delicious
The food was great! The portions are HUGE! The service was extremely fast and thorough!
I ate here last night with a large party. We were celebrating a family member's birthday. As soon as we came in, the staff was hospitable. They made sure we had a seat for the child. When we sat down at our table, we were immediately approached by staff to get our drink orders. The table was already set up with menus and silverware. Soon after the drinks were ordered, the staff came up to get our food orders. While we waited for our food, the staff made sure our chips and salsa were always full. The food came within a reasonable amount of time. I had shrimp enchiladas because I'd never heard of them before. It was pretty good. The portions were large enough for me. (I have a big appetite) When we were ready to leave, the bill came quickly. The payment time went just as fast. I recommend eating here if you're in the area.
Awesome atmosphere. Great food. Good people.
Great food. Taco salad was delicious and also the nachos supreme were so good. Perfect for a great lunch.
The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered The beef enchilada plate, with a crispy beef taco on the side. My husband ordered the chalupa/beef taco plate. The food was made to perfection. The beef tacos were not soggy and neither was the Chalupa. Our waitress Carla was attentive & nice. Thank you Carla. We definitely will be back. Patricia P.
Service was amazing. Food was outstanding. I’ve never had such good tortilla chips- light and airy! The chicken cilantro enchiladas were phenomenal. My daughter ordered the pancakes and they were delicious. Flan was yummy. 😋 Aaaannnddd the bathrooms were squeaky clean. So glad we stopped in on our road trip.
Good variety and prices. I love their cheese enchiladas, pork chops, and spicy Norteno brisket soft tacos. My kids love that breakfast is served all day
I stopped here while visiting Texas and I couldn't find any other TexMex that compared during my stay. So good. The rice was incredible
This place is my favorite restaurant in Seguin! The owner and managers are the best people. The breakfast salsa is soooooo good. I don’t go anywhere else for my breakfast tacos. I go there so often that they know it’s me when I call in by my order and they have my bag with the salsa and stuff already ready. They have definitely earned my loyalty. They’re fantastic!
LATE POST!** Some of the best menudo I have ever had outside of the house! After asking the waitstaff about it, I tried it and it didn't disappoint! Thank you Garcia's!
3/23 I absolutely hate being that person… but we walked into the door at 8:45pm requesting a table. Normally we would have never done this… but we were traveling from out of town. The staff was amazing and without any hesitation sat us at a table. We got the absolute best service and food. Know how late we were I was expecting our plates to be skimpy.. but that couldn’t be farther from the truth. What wonderful service we received. The food was fresh and delicious!
I was craving menudo for some reason. Grabbed it to go. The tripe was cut perfect. The taste on point as always! Taste just like my moms.
Had 5 different breakfast tacos and they were all amazing and authentic! The service was great, short wait time, and the employees were very welcoming and warm when I walked in and throughout my entire experience. Will def be back!
Very hot and fresh food, this Garcias was top notch, our server Natalie was very prompt and delivered service with a smile. Very good job on the food. I recommend chicken fried steak 👍
First time coming here. Great food and the service was great. Will come back again soon.
Always great food and service. If Leslie takes care of you, you will be well taken care of.
I ordered The enchiladas with extra cheese and sauce double cheeseburger with bacon all the fixings a double chicken fried steak to take home absolutely hot and fresh and delicious
We had a wonderful, and friendly server, Annlyn! One of the best we have ever had over 30 years. When your tea never runs out, and it takes a while for us to decide, Annlyn was paintence, kind. Most of all she took pride in her service. Thank you, you are a blessing to NB Garcia's
We stopped for breakfast to go - it was perfect. They had a to go / takeout counter inside, and delicious breakfast tacos and chorizo and eggs. We added cheese and it was perfect. Reasonably priced.
Awesome little place. The staff were nice and answered all questions with a smile. The place was clean and the food was good. They also had a small section on the menu for American dishes. I still went for the Mexican dishes but it was nice to see. The prices were reasonable and the drinks were good too. Definitely worth a visit.
Very clean and nice establishment. The host was very sincere and helpful. Was just passing through wanting tacos for me and my employee, and ended up getting 6 tacos and 2 sweet teas for 10.50. That's kind of hard to beat in 2025, lol
Ok I must say...I actually had stopped going for many reasons but....I decided to go last Thursday night. Fyi 2 entrances..one off of 46 and the other is on side road IH10 Access. They knocked down the old gas station completely. PLENTY OF PARKING! Wait time was only like 5 minutes and this was around 6:30pm. The cleaned a group table setting quick after they left and sat us down. Hubs and I ordered Tortilla Soup and Chalupa....on point. The free tortilla chips were fresh and crispy. My biggest surprise was their small order of Bean and Cheese Nachos..no meat! Got our order and WOW Nachos order huge and cheese so melty and the guacamole was fresh (no onions and stuff mixed with it). Good ole fashioned fresh guacamole! We had to take home! Our waitress was so attentive. Constantly checking on us and others around us. Kept drinks topped off too. Right off the Hwy 10 if traveling through.
If you are craving Mexican food in Seguin, TX, Garcia's is a great choice to have incredible tasting food, impeccable service, and a relaxing atmosphere. Interestingly enough, you can order anything from authentic tasting Mexican food to yummy Chicken Fried Steak. Yep, you heard that right! For those few who do not like Mexican food, you are in luck! Garcia's offers American Plates and boasts items like cheeseburgers, chicken strips, and even catfish. Keep in mind that Garcia's serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They also have a kid's menu and a dessert menu. Also, if you are celebrating someone's birthday and you want to make them feel special, just let your waiter/waitress know. Toward the end of your meal, you will start to hear those maracas shaking 🪇 and the staff singing as they bring in the famous blue sombrero and a scrumptious dessert for your loved one to indulge in. Personally, I might just celebrate my birthday there next year just to wear the sombrero and make some noise! **Garcia's is a chain restaurant in Central Texas.**
This is what I want every time I order nachos. - my husband. This place is a gem in the rough. Easily accessible off I-10, lots of parking. We were seated right away even though the place was busy. Server was so nice and friendly! Quick service throughout. The food was amazing. The chips are freshly made. Tortillas are fresh too! We got the nachos and menudo. Hands down two of the best dishes we’ve had in Texas so far. Ambiance was comfortable, family friendly. We will definitely be back!
Frist time here food was Delicious really enjoyed our lunch here wt my sister we also ordered to take some to our Dad who lives here in Seguin Tx. We going to stop nd visit for a bit this afternoon. Then head back home to San Marcos Tx. Ty for your great service god bless you Amen 😇 nxt time in town we will try to stop by.👍
Hadn't been in a while. Got seated right away, got a great server. Our food came quickly was nice and warm and tasted great. Well worth the money. I will definitely go back and recommend them to anyone looking for good Mexican food.
This place has improved quite a bit from my first stop here. Service is much better. Food is still not as good as the Schertz location. I will be going back.
Food was great. Filling and delicious. Service was great. Very attentive. Atmosphere was ok. Room we were in was really loud. Recommend some fabrics to absorb the sound of kids being kids.
Stopped by for lunch, had chicken fried steak....I know, at a Mex restaurant? It was home made, good taste, just the right size, the potatoes were a last minute....most likely instant. But alright... Also didnt realize they had so many locations!! Have tried other items, breakfast tacos and menudo were good as well. Nice atmosphere and want to go back for Happy hour!! Service was great, never had a bad experience!!
Food and service was good.. When it was time to pay I looked at my receipt and read that there was a cash price at the bottom for people that pay with cash. I tired it and they still charged me like if I had paid with my card. It's not about the money it's about not honoring what you advertised. There ain't no telling how long they been doing this. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT. In the photo is the actual change paid with a $100 bill change was $41. Again it's about NOT HONORING WHAT YOU ARE ADVERTISEING. FALSE ADVERTISEMENT
Service was friendly and fairly quick. Food was average at best. Margaritas were cheap, but tasted cheap. Beers were decent, but the mugs for draft beers were barely cool. Basically, if you are looking for a quick, inexpensive place to grab a bite with 3 star expectations... This is your place.
I rated them a 3 because the food just didn't have the flavor I was expecting. The chips that came out were really good, but salsa tasted like tomato soup with a few Jalepeno seeds in it. The amount I paid food the portion was good. The staff did a great job with the service and the atmosphere was also good. They do close early in the afternoon. Sorry I always feel I need to speak what I truly feel when I spend money going out to eat.
The food was not very good. We both ordered items that said they were a specialty. I ordered nachos. Both dishes did not meet our expectations. The nachos looked good but the chips did not hold up and the meat was bland. The flavor came from the side of jalapenos. I will pass on this place and go elsewhere
Everything they served me was over salted. Right from the start the tortillas had so much salt on them, I told her to take them away. When she served me my food, the only thing that was hot was the plate. The enchilada was warm, the cheese cool to the touch. And everything had to much salt on it.
The enchiladas were topped with smooth cheese (velveeta consistency) instead of grated mild cheddar cheese, so not very good. The enchilada sauce lacked spices. The fideo was salty. The charro beans were delicious. And their chips n salsa were delish too. But overall, the food could have been better.
If you have food allergies DO NOT EAT HERE! They can not accommodate you. My husband loved his meal unfortunately I was unable to enjoy a meal in this establishment due to everything being PREMADE.
Really thought I was going to have a better experience?? Queso was subpar 😕Salsa was the worst!! Tomato sauce with hot sauce in it. Chips were fried?? Just odd. Cadillac Margarita was barely passing. Atmosphere and service was marginal. With a 4.3 rating, really thought I wouldn’t feel disappointed.
We have driven by this place many times since moving to Texas, and today was the day we decided to drop in for dinner. I would love to say that this little place was amazing. However, it wasn't. When we went in the place, it wasn't that busy, with several tables and booths empty. We waited a few minutes, and we were finally seated in the bar area, but we were told we would have to wait until one of the other tables finished with a menu before we could get one. While ordering drinks with the female who seated us, she takes one order and then glances at me and says, "For you sir". I get making mistakes, but there is nothing about me that says I'm a man! They finally found us one menu so we could order. We ordered chicken fajitas and shrimp enchiladas. The chips were fantastic, the salsa not so much. It tasted like tomato puree. We received our food and again nothing to write home about. The food was pretty bland and nondescript. I don't know if this was just a bad day here or the norm, but we were not impressed.
I’m not sure if the other reviewers (and Seguin Gazette 2020 review staff) and I are eating at the same place. The chips were thick and heavily corn style grocery store chips. We, personally, like them thin and fried. The salsa was like a can of tomato sauce with spices. Not inedible, just underwhelming. Chile relleno was a “deep battered homemade poblano pepper stuffed with cheese, ground beef, or shredded chicken”. Batter was soggy. Ground hamburger meat was seasoned ok. The pepper wasn’t cleaned out completely because seeds were left in at the end. My companion said he’s had better fried rellenos at Houston gas stations. Came with warm corn tortilla that was translucent and reminiscent of, again, the grocery store. Bean and cheese chalupa was served on a thick tortilla shell and the cheese might have been some kind American Style single. There are other options to upgrade to meat, as well as with guacamole. Refried beans were absolutely the highlight. Rice was good, too. Sweet staff. Although, sitting near the kitchen allowed a special all access view to inside. Not super sanitary with a waitress wiping off her sweat, another waitress eating food with six different drink glasses at the table. And, I’m never a fan of sweeping, while we’re eating. But, it was a clean floor!
My favorite spot. Great food and service .- Update I did not have a very good experience this time around. You spend almost $40 for food to go, I asked for extra salsa she threw in 1 extra. When I asked for more she gave me attitude and told me "I gave you 4". If a customer asks for more salsa the least you can do is give more especially when im getting food for two people and spending good money. we like our salsa very disappointing.
Although the restaurant staff were nice, the food was not that good. The salsa was like ketchup, and the fajita meat tasted like it was like oven or something and had no taste, just mediocre. I was traveling and stopped in to dine. The facility was in fairly good shape. A small establishment, just not sure how the meal was prepared.
So I was going here once a week for a while. But last time I went there was something very wrong with beef fajitas. I don’t really know how to describe it but after one bite, I immediately spit it out. Paid for the plate and left haven’t been back since.
I am a Mexican food junkie...this place just isn't good. We were seated in a very loud room that was absolutely freezing. I thought maybe it was the walk-in cooler because of how cold it was. A benchmark of a good Mexican restaurant is the chips...well, these were like some weird Tostitos. They are supposed to be tissue paper thin, not thick with bubbles. The red salsa was thick and had the consistency of spaghetti sauce with some heat. We asked for green sauce and were presented with an overly spicy and watery tomatillo sauce, which I personally hate. Every Mexican restaurant should have a creamy avocado based green salsa with the chips like Gringos and Chuys. My litmus test for Mexican restaurants is the queso...this was simply Velveeta. So plain and boring. I ordered the chicken quesadillas (one of my basic tests to see if I like the place). They were okay but weird because the chicken was one grilled piece, not chunks or slices like normal. I've never had quesadillas like this before. The one good thing was the guacamole which was creamy and fresh. My husband got some kind of an enchilada combo plate and he wasn't impressed either. It was greasy and soupy. But my biggest complaint was that I got a migraine headache after eating their food because it contained MSG (monosodium glutamate) so it was really disappointing to suffer with pain and not even enjoy the thing that caused it. I definitely don't recommend this place to anyone. Like other reviewers have said, you'd be better off going to Taco Bell.
I expected better for such a nice place. I felt rushed out of the place by my server, even though they were not very busy. Food was very average.
I ordered the chicken enchiladas with ranchero sauce. When my order arrived, I thought it was the wrong order- the enchilada was white (ranchero sauce is always red). I asked the waiter said it was a cheese sauce over the ranchero sauce. I ate about half of it and gave up. No ranchero sauce could be found. The enchilada was tasteless and bland - boiled chicken in a tortilla. I could do better at home and I can't cook. Yuk!
The staff is very friendly and attentive. The establishment looks a bit worn down. The food was fast food quality. No flavor and canned food taste. The salsa was some sort of thick tomato sauce that had no spice at all. I ordered Garcia's deluxe...ground beef enchilada, tamale, ground beef (crunchy) taco, chalupa (tostada), refried beans and spanish rice. The enchilada, chalupa, and tamale had melted American single sliced cheese, and some canned red watery sauce poured over them. Enchilada was rolled in a paper like tortilla, and the ground beef had no flavor. The tamale was like soggy cardboard. The taco shell was stale. I don't have any positive things to say about this food. If the fast food place (taco bell) down the street started to sell alcohol, they may be able to put this establishment out of business. It's that bad. I will definitely not go back, and I would not tell anyone to stop by and try it out either. Hopefully, they can turn this place around and serve flavorful and quality food in the future, but for now it's a hard pass.
So it seems to me that for the majority of all restaurants I visit, I have to literally ask to get served HOT food. As you can see, this was left behind. Sausage not cooked fully. Beans were cold and potatoes were ready for me to throw to someone and injure them. Then comes the POOR customer service, wow! Talk about someone who thinks I would even leave a tip for her pathetic service. Go get another job where you don't need to see a guest. You do not belong in the service industry. You will thank me later. Needless to say, never again, I am sure they have had better days, but today was not one of them. I'm sorry, but look at your staff that deals with guest up front. Also, charging for salsa, really. Times are bad, I get it. But really.
Service was extremely slow. We ordered the beef fajita Quesadillas and when we picked them up water was dripping profusely. The meat, that was not a fajita meat, was obviously boiled. I would recommend the Whataburger next door. Water food and better value.
I went to eat there last Thursday, i got there at 6:05 PM, the restaurant was pretty empty. I ordered 2 beers and placed my order. I kept asking the waitress where the beers were and she kept telling me they were on the way. Needless to say it took them 30 minutes to get me two beers. After waiting for 40 minutes for the food I told the waitress to cancel my order, she told me the food was on the way out. I requested the manager. The manager told me the food was on the way out. I explained that I had been waiting for 45 minutes and that I now did not have time to eat it, she asked me if I wanted it to go. She wasn't apologetic or anything about my issue. This restaurant was really good when it first opened up but now customer service is not there. I will not be going there ever again.
Ordered Carne asada tacos and got beef tips with brown gravy on flour tortillas. Cheese enchilada tasted like crap and not authentic Mexican cheese but Velveeta. Rice tasted like box rice, daughters fries were disgusting and very bland. Asked for extra salsa and it never got brought to us. Took 20mins to get just our drinks.
we arrived at 7:45pm and were seated. we were then informed that they closed at 8:00pm. why seat us and then rush us to order and mop around us and say “we are ready to go home”??? NEVER AGAIN! i could have melted velveeta cheese in the microwave and had HEB tortilla chips with a bottled beer at home. not impressed - at all!
TERRIBLE!!!! Had to ask for our drink order to be taken, asked for a michelada and it was basically all Tabasco, we got our food and it was absolutely DISGUSTING!!! The tamal was burnt and everything taste like it came out of a can. They paired the cheapest American cheese that won’t even melt with the old tortilla at the bottom of the bag and watered down the enchilada sauce. The only authentic Mexican thing in there was the tortilla chip. The “General Manager Juanita” came and asked how everything was and when I began to tell her that we just couldn’t eat it she walked away and left me talking to myself! The waitress tried to help but she wouldn’t give me the name of “Juanitas” manager. Would recommend Taco Bell 10X more than this place.
Ordered a chicken fajita plate to go for my mom's bday and I got boiled chicken with boiled onions! Absolutely no flavor at all.
What is said to be 11.50 meals were all of a sudden 14$ and the fact they charge you 7$ for chips and salsa when you get it for free if you eat there boggles my mind. Meanwhile the food has slipped to an amazingly new low in the last 2 years. The dinners were lifeless and lacking in any sort of quality. Needless to say, I won't be back and won't be touting they're food any more.
31$ dollar for a two asado tacos and 1 quesadilla With limoneda Two big hamburgers next to road for less of a price
Always wanted to try this place, cause it always looked pretty busy. Ordered the one taco one enchilada lunch special. Toc had a pre made hard shell the ground beef wasn’t even seasoned at all no taste, the enchilada tasted like it was made with Kraft cheese slices and the sauce tasted like tomato soup. We won’t be returning the food was gross
Charged $2.75 to substitute a cheeses enchilada for tamale on a deluxe plate. That's ridiculous when a cheese enchilada cost is 1/4 to make compared to a tamale. Been eating at San Marcos location for 50 years and never been charged
I frequent this restaurant and the food is awesome, however, because I was on the phone and the server was talking to someone and she used the n word in spanish and I guess she thought I wouldn't understand because I was speaking english on the phone. I hung up. I am frustrated that people are still using that word in any language! I don't care what your background is. That word is used to make us feel less than human. I will no longer spend money where my people are not welcomed.
