Jade and Joseph are so well. This gastropub has a great happy hour and after not coming to this bar for two years the staff still remembered my dogs name . I have come here on and off for over three years, even after moving further away from the bar. I really do love the drinks and joseph and jade are great at running this establishment. The food is 9/10, and often have outdoor seating as well.
Amazing food, tried the fish and chips, ahi tuna salad, texas burger and buffalo cauliflower, everything was excellent and cooked right. Only downside was the charge on beer, they have a table brunch special that said one price and they charged more, I asked and they said it was for football, that ended a week before my visit, I definitely recommend this place
So I was blown away by how good the actual food and kitchen operated. Like WAY better than your normal bar food, I had the Big Texan and it was really delicious. Thick cut pieces of bacon and pork belly on an already substantial burger with fried onions, it really was a delightful burger. Service is pretty bad here…my only gripe is that coming there just for the food is not streamlined very well. You go up to the bar to order, which is fine, but the place is not set up very well for people dining it. I would have to wait in line to get someones attention for a small box or to get a refill on a soda, not very user friendly. Also the lady working the register was kind of snarky, I ordered an old fashion and she was like “go wait over there until its done” and pointed at this awkward spot in between peoples tables because the bar was filled up. Also dirty tables that are left like that for hours and generally just a dinky bar vibe, which is fine for what you’re getting into to. But if im spending $60 for burgers, I’d rather it be a cleaner place where the servers arent jerks.
Such a great stop right off the interstate. Jade and Jose were super nice. We have an 8 month old with us and she enjoyed some carrots, celery and a banana. We had the wings, traditional buffalo and buffalo garlic which were both good. We also enjoyed and highly recommend the poke boats, comparabel to yard house poke nachos. We didnt have a high chair which was fine, and there wasnt a changing table so if you have an infant plan on changing them else where. There is always opportunity, but there was no expectation as this is a gastro pub. 5 stars acrosd the board.
Have to try their smoked wings AMAZING. If you are looking for a sports bar with passionate customers and plenty of televisions this is your spot. They also have outside dining away from the sports. But we were there for football
After a crazy day on set, wanted to link up with my sister and just have some comfort food, and was pleasantly surprised. The drink menu had some next level cocktails (try the Basil and Bubbles or a Frose) so we got creative; yes we created a Frose 2.0 (video included :-). Had some Basil Hummus, Salmon Tacos, Fish Tacos, and some more Basil Hummus (Whomever made that is a genius, it's amazing). Happy Hour is all day on Wednesday so we will definitely be back.
This place is the real deal. From the moment you walk in, the staff is so welcoming and friendly, you'll feel like you're hanging out with your best buds. And let's talk about the food, because that's what really matters, right? We started off with the Buffalo Cauliflower and Buffalo Tots and holy cow, they were amazing! The perfect combination of crispy and spicy, I could have eaten those all day. And then came the main event, the Big Texan burger. Let me just say, if you're a meat lover, you need this burger in your life. With cheddar cheese, bbq sauce, bacon, pork belly, onion straws, and a sunny-side-up egg, it's a flavor explosion in your mouth. But wait, there's more! We also tried the Smash burger, which was equally delicious. Double beef patty, American cheese, spicy 1000 dressing, dill pickles, and grilled onions, all on a perfectly toasted bun. And don't even get me started on the fries - crispy, salty, and just the right amount of greasy. Overall, I can't recommend Tipsy Cow enough. The staff is fantastic, the atmosphere is lively and fun, and the food is out of this world. If you're in Sherman Oaks, do yourself a favor and stop by. You won't regret it!
Very nice place to eat if you're in the mood for a burger. The food isn't cheap but definitely isn't expensive. Burgers are around 15 bux... Add fries and a drink on top and your looking at around 25 bux for a meal. It's worth it. The food is delicious and you can tell they take their time to prepare it right. I'd consider this place to be on the higher end of the quality spectrum. Me and my girlfriend both enjoyed our food and we think you will too. Highly recommended!
I came here for a company happy hour and had a great time! The drinks are very good. I had the Tipsy Mule, which is their version of a Moscow Mule. Light and refreshing. I also had an Aperol Spritz, which I also enjoyed. We sampled the chicken wings and cauliflower as well, which were nice accompaniments to our beverages. The staff were on top of everything and very nice. The vibe is casual. A small thought - not even a critique - I heard that this place made really good milkshakes. I would’ve thought that they’d have some boozy milkshakes. I mean… “Tipsy Cow?” Kinda seems like a missed opportunity. Oh well. I still had a great time.
We came here with a group of 6 for some drinks and bites. We had called in the day before to make reservations, however it was pretty wide open when we arrived at 5pm on a Saturday. LOCATION: Located on Ventura, right at the corner of Lemona. There is neighborhood and street parking nearby, and a lot in the back with specifically designated spots. Make sure to read the signs—some spots reserved for other businesses. There are entrances both in front and in the back. INSIDE: The inside is relatively small, with a bar area and maybe a dozen or so tables. There are TVs behind the bar and all around the room showing (mostly) sports. The vibe definitely felt like that of a nicer sports bar given that the sound of the game seemed to exceed that of a standard restaurant showing sports. It’s also dog friendly! We saw several super cute dogs, and it was apparent that there are some locals who come in and know the staff, and the staff know the dogs. ORDERING: They do not offer table service, this is an order-at-the-counter type of place. After placing your order, they give you a number and bring your items out when they're ready. We came with a group, so this actually worked out well. Everyone was able to order and pay on their own without having to deal with splitting checks. You can leave a tab open if you plan to order in waves or have more than one drink. DRINKS: This place has all the options you'd expect to find at a bar, including beer (draft, bottle, cans), wine, and cocktails. There are 13 different cocktail options on the menu that are reasonably priced ($14). They have around 16 beers listed on draft, and 10+ cans / bottles, and even a couple NA options. For wine, they have a couple whites, a rose, prosecco, and 4 reds. We ordered mostly cocktails, including the Basil & Bubbles, Angry Ginger, Cucumber Gin Spritz, and a margarita. We really enjoyed all the drinks, and the Basil & Bubbles was definitely a favorite… so much so that I got a second. There are different size options for both the wine and the draft beers. FOOD: The menu is pretty solid for such a small spot. They have around a dozen-and-a-half options in their “Nibbles” section, which are essentially appetizers. There are 5 salad options, 7 burgers, and even a few choices for sliders. They have a “Moo-Less” section with a turkey burger, fish & chips, ahi banh mi, and a couple chicken sandwiches. This place is kid-friendly, as they even have a dedicated kid’s menu with standard options such as chicken fingers, mac & cheese, and sliders. Don't forget about dessert! They have beignets and a soft baked cookie, as well as a whole dedicated shake menu with some next level sounding shakes. We ordered a few things amongst the group, including the short rib poutine, cheeseburger sliders, buffalo cauliflower, tacos, and ahi poke boats. We all enjoyed our food, and there were definitely some additional items we had our eyes on. HAPPY HOUR: They actually have a really good HH here. It’s from 2p-6p, and 9p til close, every day… plus all day on Wednesdays! Select cocktails are $12 (-$2), all wine & frose is $12, well drinks are $8, and select beers are $6. There’s also a list of 11 different options of food items you can get for $12, which includes a lot of bangers! OVERALL: This is definitely a cool spot. Fun place for a date night, to meet up with friends for a drink, watch a game, and grab some tasty grub. The HH is almost worth the trip, with some good deals and great options. It’s also kid and pet friendly! I will say the one negative thing was that when I had got up to grab another drink, somebody had taken my plate away, which had the last couple bites of my short rib poutine that I was strategically saving for the end and very much looking forward to finishing… heartbreaking. The staff was friendly and the vibes were fun. It filled up quite a bit by the time we left around 8:30pm. I’d definitely come back to try some more of the food items, and get another Basil & Bubbles (or 3)! IG: @bbnem.eats
The food and drink menu is great. Excellent for such a small bar! They also have some really good shakes. We'll be back for sure.
Tipsy Cow is definitely a popular spot on Ventura Blvd. Came here for happy hour with some girlfriends on a Friday night. They have a few cocktails for $10 on the happy hour menu as well as $9 meals. I went with the chicken sliders (mashed potatoes inside) and the buffalo tots. They have some tables indoors and lots of outdoor seating. They also have a kids meals for kids 10 and under. There is not really a wait staff so you can order your food and drinks at the bar area Very small parking lot in the back and metered street parking.
The Tipsy Cow is a great local spot that you can come to again and again. Easy street parking on a weekday evening. I could clearly hear my friend from across the table which is sometimes tough to find in a bar atmosphere. Great service, although the waiter kept bumping into my chair as he was passing by. I wish he could have walked around. A minor inconvenience for him, but an easily more pleasurable experience for me. We also had a wobbly table, but our server fixed it immediately. We were pretty comfortable otherwise. I loved the neighborhood bar vibe. We had the Short Rib Poutine. This is hands down one of the must order items here. It might be the best poutine I’ve had. I nearly had a fist fight with my friend, Den, over the last bite! The Black and Blue Burger was good, but it was overcooked. A big deal for me. I asked for Medium Rare, and it came out Well. The tots were delicious as well, and to wrap it up I had an alcoholic shake called Good Talk Russ. It was wonderful and had peanut butter, bananas, and marshmallow fluff. They actually have monthly shakes, and an alcoholic dessert can be dangerous, but I’d certainly order another. I had a taste of my buddy’s food. The Lamb-burghini and his Onion Rings, and both were great. It’s a good solid menu here. I’d love to come back and try more of what they have.
Tipsy Cow is a nicely designed, comfortable and intimate space offering upscale comfort food with a couple of vegetarian options. I had an Old Fashioned to drink. It’s their only whiskey-based cocktail on the menu and whiskey is my go-to. I thought it was a little harsh tasting relative to other Old Fashions I’d had recently and nearby but points to them for the single large cube of ice in the middle. You can get any burger with a plant-based Beyond Burger patty available. My wife got one lettuce-wrapped. (They also offer a gluten-free bun) She thought it was a little overcooked (She likes her beyond burgers juicy and pink.), but generally enjoyed it, including the spicy “1000 sauce” it came with. She had ordered it without onions and it came with them anyway. (ahh the curse of special orders…) She thought the butter lettuce was nice as a wrap. I had The Tipsy Style Burger, subbing bbq sauce for the 1000, with a beyond patty. I liked it. I got tots on the side because I wasn’t in the mood for thin-fries or sweet potatoes. Our server was nice and dealt with all of my jokes about the decor. (The walls were decorated with knives and a big roll of butcher paper…my mind wandered at the possibilities.) The atmosphere was cool with good music playing and there were families present letting us know they were kid-friendly as well. Also on the menu for vegetarians are a few sides, Truffle Mac and Cheese, Blue Cheese Tots, Fried Cheese Curds and Buffalo Cauliflower plus salads. (The Beyond Burger is the only main option, but that’s okay since this is primarily a burger place.) You can get shakes too to blend your desire to be in an upscale new-American burger joint that offers a nouveau 50’s diner menu. Though there are plenty of places up and down the boulevard that offer one plant-based patty or another so, although we had a fine experience here we’d probably try other places before coming back.
The quality of service has noticeably declined over the past two years. The food is still okay, but it used to be much better. I’m not sure what changed, but as a frequent diner, I’ve definitely noticed a downgrade in both service and overall experience.
Tipsy Cow - Use to love this place a few years ago when I came. FREE parking located on the side streets or metered parking on Ventura blvd. Food selections tried this visit via HAPPY HOUR - Smash burger (it was good, rating average) - Basil hummus (okay) - Buffalo cauliflower (too much batter on it) - Salmon tacos (not bad wish their was more fish inside) Service: Server till not come to you when you sit at the table you need to order at the bar and they'll bring it to you. DISAPPOINTED in the service from staff members. Actually felt scared to ask them for help or any questions. Friendly = Nope | Busy = Restaurant wasn't that pack | Major turnoff Note: 3% service charge is added on all tabs
Great local spot with good drinks and food, unfortunately this is the second time that i've been there and the bartender/server is rude. We ordered two drinks, which was too sweet for my friend so i brought one back and kept mine, the bartender had a crazy attitude, my friend apologized for the mishap she just looked at us and walked away after bringing a different drink to my friend. Then when she came back with our food my friend asked for ketchup (literally ordered a burger) and she visibly walked away so annoyed! it was kinda crazy to see a server be so blatantly rude. Yes customers can be annoying but also is this not your job? Quite literally insane. Probably will not be back, one time can be written off, but twice? and a different server? not in this economy.
We arrived here on a Sunday at exactly 11 PM. According to Google Maps, the place is supposed to be open until 12. We didn’t expect the kitchen to be open, we just wanted to grab a drink. However, a staff member in the back parking lot told us it was already “last call.” I mentioned that Google says they close at midnight, but we were still turned away. The bar didn’t look empty inside either. It would be great if the hours were updated or enforced more consistently so guests know what to expect.
