Opinions de Valley Inn Restaurant Sherman Oaks
Old line steak house just off Ventura Bl in Sherman Oaks. Very reliable across the board.
My wife and I were looking for a good prime rib restaurant. We found it!
Amazing old school ambiance and memorabilia..food was outstanding and Victoria our waitress was the best 😊
Valley Inn Restaurant is an absolutely fabulous dining experience!
Very cool place. First time I've been there and would definitely go back. A touch of Valley history
The food was delicious. It is a bit of an older crowd. The martini was fantastic.
Reservations are a must no parking great quality food large portions good service worth a visit
Old school, great food, kitchsy neighborhood bar with great drinks.
They have really good food and service here. I recommend the carrot cake for dessert!
Their lobster bisque is delicious but it was pricey $14.00 for a cup of soup
Great meeting for friends to enjoy ,talk ha e fun Ask for Victoria, she can read you mind and knows what you want
Wonderful service, great food cozy retro atmosphere
Gravely disappointed they no longer serve escargot but...their ribeye steak is exceptional!!
The food was very good and wonderful servixe
Est. 1947 with original recipes... Try the clam chowder a blend of Cream and Manhattan the best. Old School classy yet comfortable!!!
I first went there at age 7 or 8...it was full of movie people...my father would would interduce to all of them one by one...we would change tables eat and laugh all day and night...over the years I would go with Orsen Welled, Robert Stack and film crew and tell stories...we had Sherley Temples and everyone else drank The curds of the gods...and then came the good ...i remember someone always saying slow down you are not Vikings...well the owners have charged...but the familyness and good food has not changed...the duck was first rate...just everything was first class...just like old times...enjoy...as I will again ...soon....
Excellent excellent service. I would give the food a B+, but the macaroni and cheese an A+++.
Love my friends over at the Valley Inn! Borris and Sophia are the best. Excellent food and atmosphere. Thanks again!
An old time restaurant with quality service and a quiet ambience. Wonderful place to have a business meeting or for a celebratory meal!
Long-standing restaurant with good food, fine service and comfortable atmosphere.

Very nice and quiet! Great food, but the cheese cake is to die for!
OUTSTANDING! Filet mignon cooked perfectly, prime rib juicy & lobster bisque one of the best..service friendly, ol steak house decor
Old school family owned steakhouse that's hard to find today. Best blue cheese dressing in LA.
Fantastic food, If you ever want a nice cozy place to eat? This is it
Still Best old school ambiance Steak house in the San Fernando valley!!! My favorite tpye since i wax a child!!! 👍👍👍👍👍💗💗💗💗🍷🍷🍷
Great food and a solid wine list. That old LA feel nice n cozy.
Food. To die for. Everything was incredible... Except the bread... But who needs bread! I had the rib eye steak. Very flavorful. He had filet mignon, cooked to perfection. The creamed corn was the best we've ever had! We actually ordered one to go, it was so good! Friendly staff. Older crowd, but they are friendly and interactive, not stuck up and pretentious... Will be going again!
Love the food and the service and the staff! Have been going to Valley Inn for many dinners with loved ones and friends and have always had a great experience! Love their holiday specials and dinners as well! Check them out! You will love it!
Whenever I go eat at Valley Inn, they never disappoint. I always order the brussel sprout chips and chicken marsala and never get sick of it. The lobster bisque is also very good. My wife love this spot for a date spot. The Brodetsky’s always take care of us.
I never been to the Valley Inn Restaurant in Sherman Oaks, CA I can get the cheeseburgers, macaroni & cheese with a side of sweet potato fries, and baby back ribs with barbecue sauce or ketchup. I will bring my busy bag to entertain. I will keep the kids occupy with the coloring book with crayons and markers, color wonder mess free, stickers, 24 piece puzzles, small toys, and little snacks while waiting for our food to come.
The food is exceptional and the drinks are spectacular. Bill the bartender is a true mixologist, who takes his time to make sure every drink he makes is perfect. You owe it to yourself to have a martini made by Bill.
I am in a food buzz altered state! LOL...I think I now know how a baby feels when it gets that drunken sleepy happy look on its face after nursing...the food haze! Thank you The Valley Inn in San Fernando Valley for once again surpassing our expectations of an amazing mouth melting dinner. Sophia and Boris, the owners, always have a personal word for every visitor and their servers are an awesomely quaint bunch! I love the dim lights, the booth seating and the conversation this place holds. As for the food...they deserve awards for it all! I cannot name one favorite at this restaurant, from their appetizers (bruschetta comes to mind!) to their dinners (tonight was their crab cake topped Filet Mignon Oscar!) to their to die for desserts (gluten free cake, their Limoncello or their omg carrot cake!)....and the list goes on! I even once braved trying their escargot!!!! Here's to many years to come to a fabulous restaurant!!!
This place seems to have been here forever and I just barely went there after living in the valley for 25 years. Old fashioned interior but that adds to the charm. Tasty food and great service.
Amazing prime rib in one of LAs oldest restaurants. Sophia and Boris make you feel at home. One of my favorite places for dinner and lunch. It's always a pleasure.
Great old school atmosphere. The duck and prime rib are my personal favorites. The service is great and you get your food fast! Great date night place.
Blast from the past. Great people. Delicious food. Wonderful nostalgic atmosphere. Dark leather booths. Attentive wait staff.
Prices are outrageous, in comparison to the "Smoke House", which is Valley Inn's only real competition. Food and service is good, but.....better have lots of pretty green dollars with you.
They make the best Cosmos with Tito vodka. We are having our New Year’s Eve dinner here and it is so delicious. This is one of our favorite restaurants in the San Fernando Valley Sophia and her husband make you feel so welcome when you first come in and when you leave.
Beyond Expectations! This restaurant was a suggestion from the hotel nearby. Not wanting to drive we opted to try it. Boy, are we glad we did. First off the service was EXCEPTIONAL!!!!! Secondly the food was SUPERB! In short it was a great time for us and our guests. Anyone who goes must understand it's definitely an "old school" type restaurant. It's not flashy or trendy, The food is traditional but not dated or stodgy. Service was very prompt and attentive and courteous. The wine and bar service was perfect too. Probably the best thing is this is a local restaurant. We felt part of the community while dining here. When in the area we will most definitely make a point of stopping by for another great experience. THANK YOU!
My friend took me here for mg birthday last month. I ordered the filet, could have cut it with a spoon. Delicious!!! Service very good. Overall my dinner was excellent. So much so that I will be returning this evening with the same friend to celebrate her birthday.
If you're yearning for a nostalgic dining experience, look no further than Valley Inn in Sherman Oaks. This old-fashioned steak house exudes charm and history, making it a cherished spot for those seeking a classic meal with a side of nostalgia. Walking into Valley Inn feels like stepping back in time. The decor oozes old-school elegance, with dim lighting, wood-paneled walls, and vintage photographs adorning the walls. The cozy ambiance sets the stage for an intimate and relaxing meal, perfect for a romantic evening or catching up with old friends. The menu at Valley Inn is a testament to the timeless appeal of traditional steak houses. With a focus on premium cuts of meat, it caters to the carnivorous cravings of steak enthusiasts. From tender filet mignon to perfectly grilled ribeyes, the meat is cooked to your preferred temperature and seasoned to perfection. The chef's expertise is evident in every bite, creating a memorable dining experience. However, it's worth noting that, being an old-fashioned establishment, some might find the prices slightly higher compared to more modern steak houses. Yet, the quality of the food, service, and ambiance makes it a worthwhile investment for a special occasion or a trip down memory lane. Also wanted to add that the owners - Sofia and Boris are an absolute delight to chat with. Any issues I ever had were always resolved painlessly with them. Bill, the gentlemen at the bar pours heavy and had an amazing sense of humor. Very memorable. In conclusion, Valley Inn in Sherman Oaks is a delightful retreat into the past, offering an authentic and enjoyable dining experience. Whether you're a regular or a first-time visitor, the combination of classic charm, mouthwatering steaks, and attentive service will leave you feeling satisfied and content. P.S. Dropped one star on the Atmosphere, to be fair and myself being from younger generation, I'm not quiet there yet, to fully appreciate that setting. But I've brought some of my older coworkers there and they loved the spot! 9.5/10
We stay up their way a couple times a year and always make a dinner reservation here. The place us fun n cozy. The bar is small, quante, and fun! The food is unbelievable! Service top notch! Best filet mignon around! What else can I say?
Great place in the valley to have dinner. Prices are reasonable for the area. Place has a very old school feel to it. Everyone was nice, from the owners who work the floor, to the wait staff. Even the patrons were friendly, and you could tell that they have been coming there regularly. I'll be back. The menu is eclectic and can be down loaded of the website. Mostly American fare. Steaks, ribs, fried chicken, lamb chops etc.
We went to this restaurant for our anniversary and or very pleased with the customer service and food! The waiter was really friendly and nice. The hostess went out of her way to help me with my 2 year old who was not cooperating during our dinner. The hostess took my child and occupied while I was enjoying a quieter dinner time with my husband and 14 year old. I think that that is excellent service! Ask for the food, my New York strip steak was very juicy . We will definitely return here again. Thank you Valley Inn for making our experience a delightful one.
The food here is delicious, and high-quality. The shift should be commended filet mignon was beyond expectations very tasteful perfectly cooked and so is the calamari. Most excellent customer service bar none. Highly recommend it.
What a cute place!! It’s like walking into the 1947s. Nothing has changed Low ceilings, decor, swinging saloon bar doors, lighting. So quaint and so nostalgic Borris the owner is so welcoming
First time here and we loved it. The throwback steakhouse vibe stays close to its roots and provides a really nice atmosphere. We were looking to go casual and had the Wagyu burger and it was phenomenal. Mix in great cocktails, friendly and efficient service and a strong dessert menu and this gets an easy 5 starts. As a staple in the valley for over 75 years, it shows they’re obviously doing a lot of things right. If you’re anywhere near The Valley Inn, do yourself a favor and get in there ASAP!
Wow what a fantastic meal. The liver and onions were the best I have ever had. Husband had the meal ceaser salad with chicken also wonderful great prices. Great attentive waitstaff. The Manhatten Clam Chowder was also great!
Excellent. 10/10 will definitely return. Rib eye and prime rib...and the carrot cake!! The bartender is very talented 🔥
Old school restaurant celebrating their 75th anniversary this year!!! Generous owners who donate the restaurant every year for my toy drive....helping the children of LA Family Housing.
We had a toy drive well-done organized. The bande was superbe. Top services that was pleasant time. I was surprised winning the big gifts in the raffle.
Great place (with intimate bar) to have a classy meal.
Enjoyed a lovely tea party at this lovely place hosted by my dear friend for her birthday! Sophia, the owner did an amazing job with the tea, scones and all the amenities. We had a great time and will come back for dinner and lunch.

The bar at the Valley Inn is perhaps one of the best kept secrets in LA. Yes, it’s tiny but get there early, secure your seat and you’re in for a ride of the greatest cocktails served up by a ladies and gentlemen’s gentleman - the maker with the shaker, Bill. Seriously, make a friend of this guy and then introduce him and the bar to your favorite people - only your favorite people! The food in the restaurant is great but a tad expensive but the bar will become your new happy place. Bravo
I sometimes stop by on Sunday's for some good food and drinks. The bartender on Sunday's (Anuar) is wonderful always very courteous, and professional and creates a great atmosphere for the patrons. Great neighborhood Restaurant and Martini Bar. Definitely recommended, amazing steaks and pastas. Try everything, it's all delicious.
First visit but not last. Reserved booth for birthday dinner. Cozy, food tasty, service wonderful, blueberry lemon drop martini yummy. There were two parties there but they’re closed off from main dining room so it wasn’t noisy. Not fast food. They don’t rush you. We were there almost 3 hours. Nice spot for special occasion. Do make a reservation as it filled up after 6:30 on a Saturday night. There’ was live piano music as well as a separate, small sports bar that looked welcoming.
If you love an old school steakhouse, this one has a long history in the San Fernando Valley along with great food and an excellent bartender, that never disappoints. It’s my neighborhood favorite place to go. Try the fried chicken, filet mignon or prime rib—don’t forget to grab a martini. The lemon-blueberry martini is a perfect way to start your visit. It can get busy so, I recommend making a reservation.
Excellent food and wonderful cocktails. We were there to celebrate two birthdays and totally enjoyed ourselves. Very old school kind of steakhouse atmosphere. The only minor issue was the high level of noise there, but it was packed and a Saturday night. It is a great place to celebrate any occasion.
Best Martini bar in LA hands down! I've been coming here off and on since 91 but more regularly since the 2000s. Excellent atmosphere and drinks. Bill is the best barman in town, never a dull moment when he's behind the bar! The prime rib is to die for. Get there early as the bar fills up quickly!

Very good Prime Rib ! Pricey , but great decor !
Ok, but a bit old fashioned and the food isn't quite good enough to make up for it. But they'll give you a decent, if unexceptional, meal, and if you like that sort of thing, the old school ambience is pretty mellow.
Food always very good. My friend Had prime rib excellent and I had New York steak delicious
This place has been there forever.. nostalgic for me. Old school steaks & drinks.. I go for liver & onions whenever I'm in the valley.
Loved the beet salad and the blueberry lemon martini was delish. Great atmosphere and very attentive staff.
Charlie was fantastic! Great service. I tried to fry chicken which was okay. Mind you it was good. Ambiance was very nostalgic. The cash register was an old cash register which was really neat and fit perfectly with the atmosphere. The cheesecake was divine!
I hadn't been in years. We were delighted to find an updated, slightly more modern take on steakhouse food. Great calamari appetizer. Steaks and fish we're perfectly cooked.
Noisy but nice! Seriously ample portions of perfectly-cooked meat. Service is a bit typically steakhouse-aggressive, but we all left with big smiles and happy tummies! (Can be difficult for those with severe hearing disorders.)
Four-star service, a menu of Amer-Italian dishes of generous proportion, and the signed publicity photos of the usual Hollywood suspects on the walls, for you to gape at, if you even recognize any of them. The establishment has been in the same location since before the Interstates, which now practically shadow the place. Many varieties of alcohol served. Private rooms for private debauchery. Reservations needed at most hours. Atmosphere hectic and noisy in the general dining area during peak times. But the food is robust, so concentrate on that.
Great place for quiet, low key dinner with fantastic food. My girlfriend and I met here for dinner and both of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The service was great, the ambiance is nice, and again, the food was delicious.
They rarely have Sand Dabs available, but the rest of the menu does not disappoint. Ask for the hand stuffed blue cheese olives in your martini at this classic 1947 restaurant.
Food is terrific. Saturday March 29, service was disappointing, and slow. Understaffed that night. My brother and I have been dining here since we were kids. Usually 5 stars.
Service was friendly and attentive. Thumbs up for coconut shrimp but a so-so for bbq ribs. They were a bit overdone and dry.
I was here for a charity event that was held outside under a tent. One of the waitresses, an elderly lady, was very unaccommodating, unfriendly to put it mildly, a sourpuss, and very strict with the attendees about ordering and sitting at a table. These attendees are all older folks in their 60"s, 70's and 80's, with some who can't stand up for 5 hours, and who all donated toys and money to help families have a good Christmas. We came also to hear a fantastic Beatles tribute band play. Many people had nowhere to sit. The event was wonderful except for this waitress. If a 20% tip wasn't automatically added to my bill, I would have left nothing!
This is really hard review as I go between a 3 and a 4 stars. They have really good food the prices were great and I had two lobster tails as the special. Our issue was with the service. We had a waitress who seemed to be pissed off and annoyed whenever we asked a question until she figured out we were trying to buy more food and then she was nice after that. In fact, when she walked by and I tried to get her attention she snapped at me, "I've put in all of your order!" Then I said - would it be possible to get that shrimp coctail? and she was very nice after that. I would definitely give it a shot if you're in the valley. I hear that their fried chicken is amazing. If you do want to get the fried chicken make sure you call ahead and tell them as it takes 45 minutes for the chicken itself.
Well established restaurant in the Valley. Service snd staff were friendly and polite, great choices on the menu from steak, fish and pork. Had a wonderful Ty
The chicken masala was very good, the chicken piccata was ok but I didn’t taste any lemon, the wedge was bland and the onion soup was plentiful but just okay.
Reservations recommended; might be a bit of a long wait without one. Food was very good. Baby back ribs are quite spice. Good was fast and efficient.

It was our first time going there. I ordered the ribs and my wife ordered the beef stroganoff. Both dishes were fine. Service was good and decor is very nice. The ribs were incredibly meaty and tender. My martini was very skillfully made. Prices are a bit lower than other restaurants in the area.
A classic and classy trip back to the 40-50s of dining. Warm leather booths with a comfortable atmosphere. Excellent steaks and sides. The staff was top notch and we all had a good time. The only thing missing was a little live music. The Martini was great also. We will be adding this pace to our favorites list.

Cozy, quiet restaurant and bar. Good food, great place to have a conversation.
Service is horrible this restaurant demands high prices service is terrible not accomdating
Drinks are fabulous! Food was ok. Not flavorful. We had 3 appetizers and 7 entrees and no one was excited about any of it. We all said we like Damon's in Glendale and Smokehouse in Burbank better. Sorry Valley Inn...you need to step it up in the flavors, seasonings...
The staff was excellent. I ordered the aged ribeyesteak. Ordered it medium rare. Lots of fat, very tough, not at all what I expected. Wife had the fillet and she absolutely loved it. I would recommend ordering the ribeye medium instead of on the rare side but overall I would dine there again. ,
I have been there many times because I like the old school ambience of the place. But they really need to work on their service and food prep. They charge a lot of money for a dinner, but give you a baked potato with nothing on it dry, nothing on the side. I used to love their Ahi appetizer, but all of a sudden its a third of the size, and the same price! Mine was served with out rice at all, and when I complained I got nothing but attitude from both owners. They finally gave me half off the appetizer price, but come on people what happened to customer service?
This is a very nice, well decorated, old-school dining room. We stopped off Sunday night without reservation and immediately were seated. I ordered the shrimp scampi pasta. They leave the tail on the shrimp. I personally do not eat the tail nor do I know anyone who does. Most fine restaurants remove the tail before they serve them. I don’t know what their excuse was here. Pretty disappointed in the pasta, angel hair. The pasta tasted watery. It should be buttery, cheesy and garlic tasting. This wasn’t. The wife ordered Chicken Milanese, it came with spaghetti. The chicken was delicious and it was a very large piece, we ended up, sharing it, and it was very good. The spaghetti on her plate that was offered as a side was not good at all. It was boring and lacked any flavor or taste. When you spend close to $100 for two meals, your expectations are high, unfortunately these were not what you would expect.

Slow service and they don't know how to prepare a medium rare filet. I had them doing it twice and I got medium well both times. Ridiculous to pay $45 and not get what you want.
I was craving for steak or prime rib they certainly delivered the food,, but walking out the door ,couple of drinks and steak, and no fixing, $75.00 dollars not going back alright
O Overpriced for the quality served. Item on web menu not on the table menu. Beverages are attractively priced.
I don't know what to say, this was the third time I had been to this restaurant and the service was absolutely dreadful. We came for my friend's birthday dinner and he has been there many times over a long period and it was his favorite place. He lives on a budget and always brings the coupons the restaurant puts out, even though it is supposedly the place of the stars and the wealthy. He always brings a bottle and on this occasion we were served by one of the owners a women named Victoria. The first thing out of her mouth was "There will be a $15 corkage fee," I mean it literally snapped out of her mouth, it shocked me. My friend had pre-ordered Lobster Thermador several days before, this was a planned dinner, totally rude. Then to make matters worse two other people at the table wanted to split their largest cut of prime rib, and immediately the server says, there is an extra charge for that. To me a person who comes in to a fine establishment should have a nice greeting like, "hey how are you," and on a special occasion we are not worried about the extra charges. There were other things that were just as rude, from this person and the food arrived warm. Hey on a $202 dollar bill we left her $5. My friend always tips 20% on good service and food, but not this time, " Bon Appetite."
I was not happy with the way they handled my situation. I recieved and email about there specials,Firday night fried chicken with 4$ glass of wine or champagne. I showed my email.to one waiter and they brought me a split on Chandon sparkling wine. Ate the chicken and ordered another glass. When I got the bill, they charged me 24$ for the sparkling wine. I said something to the waiter and the I believe owner came to my table. She said its 4$ for house champagne. I had showed the waiter my email. Nothing was done for the misunderstand, I had to pay 24$. Total BAD BUSINESS I feel. So if you go show your email or else be ready to pay. It Wasnt even champagne 😡😡😡😡😡😡
This place has the feel of a staple institution riding on a reputation earned thirty+ years ago. It seems like the kind of place Gordon Ramsey would turn around. Although we had a reservation and there was plenty of space, we were seated by the kitchen in front of a dehumidifier that made the area very cold. We had to move chairs to get away from it. The waitstaff was friendly, but there were clearly too few as they literally ran around the place. Our server was nice enough, but she seemed to take it personally when my mom nicely sent back her disgusting Arnold Palmer, as if the woman had gotten the recipe from her blessed grandmother in the old country. She was rude to my mom the rest of the time, even though my mom had been very nice about it, even apologetic. We were there for my son's 13th birthday. He loves steak, so thats what he ordered. What he got looked much more like a thick hamburger patty - not a solid piece of meat but ground meat in a steak shape. He ordered it medium rare, but it was quite rare, fully pink and liquid in the middle. He also said it was flavorless. My father's steak was also flavorless. They had to add a lot of salt to make it palatable. I had the seared ahi salad, which was fine, borderline good, and a shareable size. I don't remember what my mother had ordered, but she said it was just fine, not great, and certainly not worth the price. I used to love this place back in the late 80s, early 90s when I was a kid, but everything about it has changed. I'll never go back.
Early dinner for six in corner booth on a Friday. Cramped seating, inadequate service and felt aour requests was an imposition on our server. Food was tasteless other than the garlic bread. Salad had rusted greens and lousy Ceasars dressing. The famous chicken dinner was liked by only 1 of the 5 people who ordered it. The table cleaning was rushed and the guy spilled chicken bones on one of the guests sitting at the end. Fixed gratuity made it impossible to state our displeasure otherwise. We will not be going there ever again despite running into Coach Wooden at the restaurant some years back! The place was packed when we left but none were having chicken! Bad choice.
Bill at dinner was a certain amount ck statement later restaurant added a 30$ tip. They got a 75$ Tip on a 250 dinner What a rip! Don't go here!
The chef knows how to steam vegetables. Duck was tasteless. Cherry sauce was like jam. Clam chowder was flour soup with slivers of potato and a hint of clam. Could not find one clam. Uneatable.
They have to improve their customer service. Somebody was walking around passing by our table several times carrying a stack of menus in his arms, never looking in our direction. After 15-20 minutes of being ignored we have to wave and ask for a menu!
This place needs to go ASAP. The hostility of the owner/operator who represents this establishment on their Instagram and on Google reviews is unwarranted and reeks intensely of bigotry. They need to learn what customer service is and humble themselves. Read through their responses and ask yourself if you'd ever pay someone to speak to you that way. Only visit this restaurant if you're desperate to be talked down to and mistreated.
Thought about eating here, but wouldnt even let me use the restroom as an uber driver that dropped their customers off. Im really sick of businesses that act like we dont bring business to them with our dropoffs. At least let us use the restroom if we bring money to your facility whether its us or the people we dropoff.
