Opinions de El Huarache De Mexico Simi Valley
My wife and I love El Huarache de México. We have been patrons since they were located on the Western end of town. The new location is a big improvement. The menu seems bigger too, and the food is always prepared fresh. This is not exactly the same old-same old Mexican food you have probably grown accustomed to in So. Cal. There is an array of cuisine with origins from across the country of Mexico. The menu was not constructed to be just another "me too" mom and pop Mexican restaurant. Rather, it offers a new blend of food items the show off the diverse flavors of Mexico. Once you dine here, you'll never settle for canned refried beans again. I highly recommend the grilled quesadilla. Very refreshing twist on what you probably think a quesadilla is. I have eaten Mexican food from border to border. This is a solid place with super friendly and helpful staff.
The food restaurant is amazing..I planned on going during my last visit but didn't make it. I remember ordering a lot of food and desserts and I pretty much ate all of it, some in the car..lol If you live in Simi I would recommend eating here and bring your friends since they will thank you.
2 guys that are always taking orders in front of the house are welcoming & easy to talk to. Great Mexican food, prices aren't bad at all. Horchata is pretty decent too. Bern there few times never been disappointed.
The food is authentic and I love the family atmosphere. On Wednesday's they serve "Enchiladas Mineras" that are amazing. We come here weekly and I've yet to order something I don't like. The majority of the staff is family and very friendly.
Excellent guacamole. Best Carnitas ever, in fresh hard shell tacos as well as their street tacos. Exceptional service and WILL be returning. Thank you!!
Awesome, loved this place. The food was really good and authentic. The server was awesome they where on top of it, they where very nice and welcoming. I will definitely be coming back. Their burrito amazing and their Gorditas awesome you have to try them.
I can't get enough of this place. We have eaten here a few times now and each time we're go we try something new. They cook everything fresh when you order it so it may take some time to get your food, but believe me it's worth it. The red and green burrito is one of the best things I've ever eaten. The michelada menu is impressive and they are incredible. Oh and they also sell pastries from Portos Bakery. If you don't who they are stop by and find out. The service is incredible and you can tell this place is run by passionate people that love what they do.
The food was great! The chips and salsa great! The margaritas also big and great! And the food also delicious every bite! I'll be back soon !
Traveling to the area and hunger struck. This place! Highly-rated, excellent menu choices, and Mexico City centric. Of course the mole- a little sweet but complex and tasty. The three of us had different dishes; more than satisfied. I'll return, with others.
Very friendly and courteous servers. Food was great! Chips and salsa are fresh made! Already told several people who live in Simi Valley about this great authentic Mexican food!
The best food and service. I usually do not easy at any so-called Mexican restaurants. I can make the food better at home because it's usually not anywhere close to being authentic. But here, the food is excellent. I would eat here again. Plus, the staff is super friendly and accommodating.
Overall great place and great menu. I've had the pambazo and their chille relleno dish. Pambazo was delicious and was a great size. If you are looking for a veggie dish, chille relleno was also very delicious. Good service overall but its during covid so dont expect everything to be fast. It can get busy and the waiters are typically also busing tables. The menu is huge and I will definitely be going back to try new foods
Late lunch, not busy, great food ! So glad we decided to give this place a try. Had the fried quesadilla & a street taco, he had a grilled quesadilla & a couple street tacos...everything was good. Will definately be coming back as well as trying their "express" location at the Simi town center (east end food court area).
Very good service. I actually dropped my debit card, someone found it, and turned it in. Called the restaurant, and they had it there for me to pick it up.
My husband and I stopped here for a quick drink and snack After our hike and the food was fabulous! The drinks were cold, food was great, and the chips and salsa was on point. Great friendly service, highly recommend!
If your from Mexico city this the place to go and eat some of the traditional plates. I had headache it was delicious and the mushrooms and cheese quesadillas are out of this world. The service is friendly and they make you feel part of the family.
The flautas here are so good!! And they put alot of meat in them, so it's actually filling. The employees are really nice too! So it's a total win-win for anyone to eat here!
This is truly the best flavors of old Mexico. Their burritos are delicious. Try the cucumber lime drink it’s refreshing indeed. It’s the kind of food I had when I was a child. Brought back memories
Wow! It's always exciting for me to find a true AUTHENTIC Mexican food restaurant and to have one right in the middle of Simi Valley is even better!! They give great friendly service too as you order at your table. The tacos are made with very soft homemade corn tortillas. This takes the flavor up many notches. My favorite was the Street carne asada taco. Very rich and full of flavor. Also tried 2 other street tacos: Al Pastor & Chorizo. Their chorizo is very delicious too. Al pastor was good but not as good in my opinion as the other 2. Tips: 1) to drink, make sure to order a large Horchata. It's one of the best I have tried. 2) if you can take very spicy salsa, try the red one for your tacos to give it a huge kick.
I was introduced to this restaurant and I was so pleasantly surprised. I usually eat out and the food/experience is average, but this place surpassed all expectations. Our server Tomas was amazing! He was so kind, attentive, and patient. He definitely made the experience even better. The food, I have no words. We ordered a few different dishes. The food was delicious and the quality of the food was excellent. People typically think tacos when you see a Mexican spot, but this restaurant really introduces you to the diversity of authentic Mexican cuisine. I loved the variety and the affordability of the dishes. I will definitely be recommending this spot and will definitely be back again.
First time eating here, and started with a margarita. It was huge and only $8. The chips and fresh salsa were amazing. Then our food came and now I’m hooked. Awesome little place, perfect for a lunch break or a date night.
My significant other and I came to this spot today because we had an urge for mexican food, after coming here in the past, I come back for more of their mole enchiladas and the boss lady enjoys their chicken mole plate, it reminds her of her mom' s mole. The mole has a perfect texture and the flavor is very unique. This mole is not the spicy type rather than a perfect blend of spices that has a hint of mild sweeet taste. It blends very well with the rice and beans all the way thru the end. Your palate will surely enjoy this dish. My woman boss rated it a 5, my rating was a 4 just because im a bit pickier. I think their bean portion should be more generous, but a good main food portion makes up for it. Their salsa for chips is mediocre at best, could be better, more tang and bang! So me and the goddess of mine agreed on a five with such small gripes. We will come back here again sooner or later. Maybe ill try another plate. Goodnight and good food:)
What a gem located in Simi Valley. If you are looking for delicious Mexican food, this is definitely the spot. The food is authentic, delicious, and affordable. The employees are extremely kind and they have big TVs around to be able to watch the live sports games. Easily a 5/5 and worth every penny. I definitely recommend coming here if you are hungry and in the mood for Mexican Food. Make sure to get a Gordita or huarache Azteca
Very good, easy Mexican food. The fried quesadilla was really good, especially with the carne asada. The salsas are also really good, and they have a nice spicy red one, which is sometimes hard to get at a smaller Mexican food place.
Kept it simple this time with some Gorditas. Which are fire by the way. Been here multiple times tho and it's always good. The Pambazo is really good. Huaraches are great. Nachos are fire. Service is always on point.
It's a nice place where you can enjoy Mexican food..just come and enjoy it....

Frida, futbol, and great tacos! I guarantee I felt full after the first few bites. Ironically, I was looking for a new place to eat that wasn't Mexican, since there are no shortage of great choices here, but wasn't hungry enough for all-you-can-eat next door. I am conflicted about posting this because maybe it's better to keep this hole in the wall as one of the best kept secrets in Simi Valley. Strongly suspect the tortillas are handmade; a reputable genuine Mexican restaurant would have no less, but you never know these days and can't blame them either with the economy, anyway. Excellent value for the price. It made me miss home, and I've never been to Mexico except on like two family vacations. You'll leave wanting more, but you won't leave hungry.
Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Service was friendly and efficient. Restaurant was clean and well maintained, thank you! Ps my son LOVED his chicken quesadilla
My favorite Mexican food in Simi, so good, my favorite is the carne asada gorditas and the mixed pupusas. The staff is also always so sweet.
I ordered catering for my sons first birthday, and the food was amazing. It was a big hit at the party. I really appreciate the good service and quality. I would definitely recommend this place to all my friends and family. Keep up the good work, and thank you for being on time like promised. Until next time!
I love eating here or ordering food to go. It is so delicious. You have got to try their pupusas, torts, and aguas frescas!
Wonderful little Mom and Pop place and we are picky! Have eaten there twice so far once for takeout and once dine in very good food. Excellent street tacos had both the beef and chicken very authentic and fresh. The rice was amazing. Wonderful chips and salsa. They also have Portos bakery items available for dine in or take home including custards which being gluten sensitive is nice for me. Service was very friendly and personable as we chatted with the cooks daughter Marlene. I disagree with another reviewer about the prices I think the prices are on a good value.

Great food, great prices! A hidden gem in Simi Valley.
I ordered the Azteca huarache with carne asada and it was alright. I liked the meat but it wasn't the best, kinda wished it had more flavor and it'd be nice if the meat was more chopped as well. It's a nice environment with nice people and clean place. They offer porto's goodies if y'all don't wanna drive so far to enjoy those tasty pastries :)
Pretty authentic for Simi Valley, something I would expect in Los Angeles to be honest. Great salsa's and highly recommended! The steak asada was a little tough, but may have just been the day I was there. The Huarache is the thing to get, just big and heavy! Close to 5 stars!
Decided to stop in to try a new place. Hubby got the lamb Barbacoa and I got the fried quesadilla. I added tomatoe to the quesadilla and that was a great addition. The barbacoa was amazing. Only reason it didn't get a 5 was the decor needs an upgrade. The waitresses were amazing!!
The staff was friendly and environment was great, food could’ve been a bit better. The meats were delicious, but the potato gordita was okay.
food was really good! ordered tacos, they’re salsa was very tasty 👅 i recommend this place. i cook mexican food all the time, and this place was good.
We went for dinner on a Sunday about 8 pm. The place had a lot of customers even though they close at 9 pm. The staff was friendly and attentive. My girls liked the kids menu and are their leftovers the next day. I had the fried quesadillas and shared a couple tacos and everything was really good. We had a very pleasant outing.

Great food, great prices! A hidden gem in Simi Valley.
Salsa and guac were okay. Tostada Salad had too much rice and no real flavor . Nachos were soggy like a BNC burrito . Overall flavor was bland on everything we ordered .
The food was good and definatly fresh. The people were very nice and friendly. A family owned business. A little too high of cost but they've got to pay the rent!
Will never go back. Ordered Asada nachos togo. Paid 13.40 for approximately 10 chips covered with cheese and a few pieces of asada. There was more avocado than meat. TERRIBLE!!!
I ordered take out. My rice was spoiled, my carne asada was tasteless, and they didn’t even give me chips and salsa. I could’ve just cooked a flank steak at home and make it better. This one was an absolute joke. For my $17 plate. Maybe because they were expecting a tip? Idk
Food was bland. salsa was good. The Jamaica was bad. It made my tummy hurt and my grandpa's tummy hurt and they forgot my burrito and later gave me the wrong one on top of that😅 They also didn't give my mom a plate for her gordita. I've been here before and I don't know what happened but it wasn't a good experience. I hyped this place up to my mom and it was 50 dollars of a waste for a bland quesadilla, 2 okay tacos, 1 plateless gordita, a tricolor burrito instead of the Burrito mojado, Reaally BAD Jamaica that made everyone at the table cringe and pretty good chips🤔 If the Jamaica tastes off pls complain. dont be complacent like my family and I were💀 I have regrets and tums and less money in my savings cause I wanted to take my family out
Ordered the chili rellano, soggy and cold inside. We also got a carne asada burrito the steak was very tough and they put slices of avocado on top that were rotten. The slices were dark brown in color. The cheese enchiladas were very low on flavor. The rice and beans were good and the salsas were good. All in all I spent over 80 bucks and most of it we threw in the trash. Pretty disappointing. I won’t be going back.
I was looking for a nice breakfast decided to stop by and I love sea food. Got the fishplate and it tasted good and all but 30 minutes later it wasn't... It wasn't feeling good. Next day I had body aches, chills and sweats. Thank god I am still alive.
I should have read the reviews before deciding to try this place. Food wasn't good, tasteless, and maybe old. Most of my torta was missing. It wasn't even a full-size torta. Small serving of asada and the few pieces I did get were super thin, torta was also soggy. Food seemed to be made with no passion for cooking. Honestly, save your money or eat elsewhere.

I ordered the enchiladas suizas to go. I got home less than 5 minutes later and everything was cold. I heated it up but it was still just bad. Unseasoned boiled and dry chicken, soggy tortillas, mushy rice and the cheese wasn't even melted in the enchiladas before I heated it up. I used to love this place and I don't know what happened to them but they've clearly just given up or management just doesn't care. Even the inside of place looked dirty, dingy, and the floor was sticky.
Have been here several times and it’s gone down hill plus the service is horrible! They server handed me a cup lid which fell onto the floor then proceeded to pick it up and put it in the to go box after it’s been on the floor. Can’t imagine what is going on in the kitchen if they do this in front of customers. My friend had hair in her food and let the server know which his response was next time I will give you a discount. There will be no next time!!!
I don’t know where to start. I don’t know what happen to this place. Restaurant looked dirty. Floors, tables and seats had food crumbs. Nobody sweeps the floor. Wasn’t busy when I went in. They gave me chips and salsa, chips were stale. Did not eat it. I ordered Gorditas 2 tinga and 1 carnitas. Both meat was very dry. My food was just super dry and no flavor at all. Tasted like they reheated the food from the day before. I’m so disappointed. Then I ordered chicken tenders and fries for my kid. That sucked too. Fries were super hard. Chicken tenders was hard too. They over fried it. I sadly left disappointed. Do not recommend this place if do not like dry flavorless food. Used to be good…now sadly it changed. Maybe new management. Idk but definitely last time I go here, no longer one of my top 5 restaurants here in Simi l.
