Great mom and pop shop. Gets busy alot. Call ahead for pick up! Grab breakfast burritos every Sunday here.
Awesome tacos. We had both shrimp and carne asada tacos. Very good. The staff was great as well. We are here visiting family, but will be back again.
Very good
Maybe 5 stars is not a "fair" review as I always have the same thing. It's always perfect! If you're in the mood for a shrimp burrito with no rice go here!
We stopped by for lunch, and the tacos were amazing, I highly recommend this tacos ỳ burritos to all of you.
If you love great Mexican food you have to stop in and try this place. I have a deep fried fish that is one of the best with garlic and onion. Enjoy!
Love love love their breakfast burrito a la mexicana! Their homemade hot sauces are really good too especially the verde and the Hot one.
EXCELLENT AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD WITH HOMEMADE CORN TORTILLAS! VERY CLEAN RESTAURANT AND VERY NICE OWNERS. MY FRIEND, ANTONIO, WHO LIVES IN SAN SIMEON, TOLD ME ABOUT THIS PLACE WHEN I TOLD HIM I LIVE IN SIMI VALLEY. THE OWNERS ARE HIS COUSINS. THANK YOU ANTONIO!
Small but the food and pinaple water was delicious... if you havent try it yet you have too the meat on the food is clean of fat and well seasoned... the service was good and not roo too expensive.
Had an awesome carne asada burrito and rice. Burrito was custom made to my request and it earned a 10/10! I could eat one every day here. Rice was very good and I smothered it with their wonderful green salsa. Staff is super friendly and truly the happiest staff I have ever encountered in a restaurant. If this place isn't in your weekly rotation, it should be! Love it.
We love this place for authentic Mexican sea food. Great taste and seasoning. The owner Hector always greets me with a smile and always polite. My favorite is "coctel de camaron" and "caldo de pescado". Yumm getting hungry again. You will love this place.
GOOD MEXICAN FOOD IN SIMI?! Yes. Amazing. I'm half Mexican and grew up in the valley. Of all the Mexican places in Simi there was only one that I knew of that was good and one that was decent. UNTIL NOW. I just noticed this place. Man I've been missing out!!! I got the carne asada burrito, a chorizo taco, and an al pastor taco to try. All for $17. The burrito was SO GOOD! It just needed the red salsa on it that they give on the side. The chorizo was so flavorful! THEN the chips and salsa verde were SO GOOD. I don't even usually like salsa verde at all but this one has SO MUCH flavor, nice and roasty. I love the murals, decor, and music. It's so beautiful and tasteful. The man who I think is the owner was very nice. I can't wait to go back and try more things!!
Good food fast service, have Modelo on tap. Menudo was great, I like there breakfast burrito.
Great experience. Everything was done fast and with a smile. Street tacos had freshly made tortillas. The hard tacos had an amazing crunch. Can't wait to go back and try the pastor.
This place was amazing. The food was great and the price was right. The staff was really helpfull and kind. The seating is limited and the place seems to get a constant flow of customers, but my wife and I did not wait long for a table. I would definitely come back again!!!!
CALIFORNIA Burrito 🌯 is absolutely fire! It's the best around by far you won't be disappointed. But call in order to avoid wait or be patient. It's worth it
I picked up a dinner here at El Maizal Mexican Food, this is one of my number 1 Mexican restaurant to have my meal. I been eating here for years, and there staff knows me well, they are friendly and nice to all of their customers, they make sure they gave much attention to everyone, and making sure each of us are not waiting long or get bored waiting. They are entertaining customers with a smile and pleasant conversation. Food is yummy, I loved their Chilaquiles and Carnitas Tacos the best I also recommend the Quesadillas.
Been living in ND for 35 years. Been living with substandard Mexican food for 35 years. Came to Simi Valley for Reagan Library and had to have some real Mexican food... this really fit the bill. The corn tortillas didn't even make it back to the hotel-they were delicious. The lengua burrito was excellent as were the taquitos my husband ordered and the carne asada burrito. They also have very good horchata- nice taste of vanilla without too much sugar. The people there were super nice, too!! You won't be sorry!
Needed a quick lunch, had el pastor and asada tacos with a chicken quesadilla. I am really particular with my food, wasn't expecting much but lets just say i found my new go to taco spot when i come to the west coast.
One of my top 3 Mexican food places to go in simi. Love the owner so much and the ladies there are so nice. My fav dish are the tacos, can't resist them!
Neighborhood favorite! A family ran business, everyone is always so pleasant and accommodating. I have eaten here more times than I can count and no matter what I get it is always yummy 🤤.
The food was delicious and heartwarming, just like a home-cooked meal. The atmosphere was simple, clean, and unpretentious, which added to its charm. It's a true family-run business, and you can feel the joy and humility in their service. We truly felt welcomed and appreciated. We'll definitely be back to explore more of the menu!
Great food and great service. I love seeing these kinds of shops thriving in the community. From when I first entered until the moment I left, everyone was so friendly and accommodating. The food was great too and the portions were just right!
Favorite place to get Mexican in town. Owner was a worker here who bought out from previous owner, so you know he cares about the place and customers. You really feel like family when you come here. Ordering is simple, go up to the counter and then sit down and wait for your food to be brought to you. I almost always go for the whole fried fish. It's nice and smokey and not oily at all. You pull pieces off and eat with tortillas, rice, and beans. Will really fill you up. Don't worry about getting dirty and really get in there. And don't forget the softest part, the pieces behind the cheeks!
Salsa made fresh daily in house, aguas frescas, corn tortillas that don’t fall apart while holding your taco in your hand. What more could you want? 3 tacos and an agua fresca for $11 left me feeling more than satisfied. El Maizal also offers a selection of beers if that’s what you’re looking for. I’m grateful to have found this place for a delicious, price-conscious lunch.
Excellent and authentic tacos with great salsas. The roja with roasted tomatoes, the verde with small tomatillos. Small touches like the wall murals and decor add to the atmosphere.

Such a great family owned business. The owner is always so nice. The food is delicious. I love the homemade salsa choices too. I have never had a bad food item here. My only complaint is that too many people know about this place and the wait time for order pick up has gotten longer. I guess great food can only stay a secret for so long.
Tacos were delicious and owners were very friendly
Good customer service from cooks to cashier, extremely friendly people. The hand made tortilla tacos are the best. Ask them about the spiciest salsa lol if you can't handle spicy spicy then don't even ask, its only for the winners.
Best Mexican food in Simi Valley. Great little family operation. Their breakfast is probably the best thing they do. Best breakfast burrito, and huevos rancheros I’ve ever had. Their rice and beans are excellent. Love their burritos, shrimp tostadas, shrimp tacos, and tacos durados with el pastor. Hector and his wife always make you feel so welcome. Highly recommend and I’m a very tough critic. Have worked in restaurants for 16 years.
Best tacos in Simi! Tortillas are made to order so it might take a couple more minutes than you might be used to but totally worth it. I have yet to venture to other dishes because the tacos are so good. Family owned and operated makes the customer service excellent.
Good ceviche, good tacos! I usually can tell a good place from the chips and salsa! Service was attentive and chill! Ambiance was mellow and quiet for the time I was there! I’d come here for authentic Mexican food!
Best tortillas ever! Love this place. I go at least once a week and I'd go more if my waistline and wallet would allow. Service is great, and although the food MAY be a little slow to come out when it's packed, the flavor more than makes up for it. I always get sad halfway through my meal.
Very authentic Mexican food. Good portions, fair prices, and very nice people...owners and staff. This will be a regular stop for me!
Very clean !fast very good taste Friendly.they have authentic Mexican food 🥘
The menudo is a must have especially if tou like it spicy!!! Great place to eat, the staff is great too.
Such a great Mexican restaurant. The surface is so great. They are such wonderful people. The food is always delicious. I've probably eaten there about 18 times and it's never been bad. They're sauces. Great. They're fresh. Tortillas are great.

The Mexican food is pretty much authentic. and the place looked clean and in good condition. The odd thing about the place is they have a T.V on, but has no valume. instead you hear Mexcan Norteña music while the T.V is one. 🤔 I asked the young lady if she could turn off the music and turn the valume on the T.V. But said she dis not know how to do that.
This Mexican Restaurant was good. I had a carne asada sope and an alpastor taco; both were good. The man whom took our order was very nice.
Good authentic Mexican food in a cozy setting. Reasonable prices. Large portions. Outstanding salsas. Closed on Mondays.
Eaten here a few times while visiting the park next store. Located next to Duck Park in a small strip mall with plenty of parking. I usually come on Wednesday nights. Dine in is available with plenty of seating. The times I've visited their was plenty of seats available and little to no line to order. I've had a wet carnitas burrito, meat was good the red sauce was alittle too sweet for my taste. Asada Tacos Dorado, was good. Taquito was good. Shrimp taco was ok, out of everything this was my least favorite. Service was good and friendly. Overall I enjoy the experience at Taqueria El Maizal
Service is excellent. The food need something else, the quality, the flavor. It need something more because I went to different places and I got similar plates and there's completed different. The price is OK.
Great spot. I'm starting to believe that good Mexican food just doesn't exist outside of California or Mexico. I struggle to find it anywhere else but it seems like every town in the state of CA has at least two epic spots for it. I ordered the Carne Asada Burrito and Nachos and both were outstanding. The meat was perfectly seasoned and delicious. The blending of flavors were very tasty and the service was great. We'll hit this spot whenever we're in town.
I called an order in was told 30 min. Arrived in 40min and waited in line only to be told they need more time and to step aside. About near the hour mark is when I was able to get my food and pay. Food was good but don't call in as the people who dine in get their food in 15min or less and anyone who calls it's over an hour. I spoke to the owner who told me its usually 1hr+ wait time for phone orders(what's the point of calling in to save time?). Overall good food the owner attitude wasnt good or happy and did not care for the most part. You be the judge but I'm not sure I'll be back. Picture below: Fried chimichanga.

This is a good small place for some Mexican food whit nice and friendly people tacos are good because your tortillas are made by order, but for the price they could put some more meat I feel like they are a bit expensive same for burritos
Taqueria El Maizal is an average Mexican restaurant. However, considering it is located in Simi Valley and compared to other Mexican restaurants in the area, this is the best one. The fresh corn tortillas are a big plus for me, and I will definitely visit again.

Kinda of priceeee. I ordered a steak quesadilla, hardly in sour cream "some" shredded not even some guac to go it. Maybe because it was to go.
Ordered the carne asada burrito but didn't have any beans 🫘 just rice and meat. Took one bite and opened up the burrito to further analyze the portions and was disappointed with the quantity for the prize. Owner didnt charge me for taking one bite and offered to add more beans but couldn't believe the lack of love that went into making that 🌯 burrito wouldn't recommend eating here if u have a lunch break .
Disappointed in the way to treat the client, when ordering my order she told me 15 to 20 min. Which I looked at my time and I said it's perfect because I had the measured time to get to my son's training, when I see that he continues to take orders and after 30 minutes of waiting I go and ask if I was ready and he only answered me no That they had hardly done it, he was very rude and the cook told him to return the money, to which I replied that not because my children were hungry, that I understood that there were orders but that he tells me that at a certain time he was, If my order was not going to be done like that, the man was upset he told me that if I wanted to, he would return my money, the very rude and haughty cook told me that he would not make my order and, why he did not want to make food for my Children who were asking me to eat, The cashier and cook respect their work, but since their time is Valdosta the same, mine and my family's but their attitude was the worst just for demanding that if they tell you 15 min. At 20min it is what they say to give or I understand that they owe the time but what they do not understand is that our time is also valuable and it is called respect for the client when telling them in 15 to 20 min. And don't do it
I don’t recommend this to place to anyone. Worst service I’ve ever had. They make you feel uncomfortable and awkward when asking for anything. Make sure you always check your bill they are sketchy. They are so stingy with anything you asked for. Food and drink are overpriced and food isn’t even good. This place is really dirty and bathrooms are nasty.
