Love this quaint little sushi restaurant. There owners are fantastic people and they are pride in their restaurant. The food is as good than all but the most expensive and better than many more expensive Japanese r restaurants. If I blindfolded you and had you test the dishes against a much more expensive restaurant, you would be hard pressed to know the difference.

I'm a huge fan of the Rock Shrimp, golden salmon and really the entire menu. The wait staff are very welcoming and friendly. The food is always good and fresh. My wife and i are big fans of this place. It has become our number one place for delicious fresh sushi, rolls and appetizers.

Delicious food in a moderately upscale restaurant with an appeasing ambiance. The owner is a wonderful man who actively ensured that everyone there was having a good time without being intrusive about it. Their takeout is equally as good with ample portions packaged correctly. We will most assuredly be back soon!

One of my favorite sushi places, definitely the best in Smithtown. Their rice to fish ratio is perfect and you get 8 pieces with each roll instead of 6. Their prices are amazing with the any 3 rolls for lunch for under $15, their dinner prices are just as good and they have AMAZING special rolls, seaweed salad, and gyoza.

I have been a frequent customer of Tomo for years and it's the only Sushi place I want to go to! This weekend they catered Sushi trays for my son's wedding that were a great hit, beautiful, fresh, delicious, on time friendly service! I highly recommend Tomo and think Kevin, Jimmy and Kimberly and the entire professional staff are top notch! BTW, the 2016 special roll is off the hook delicious :-)

This is our go-to sushi place at the moment. The sushi and sashimi are fresh and delicious. The fish to rice ratio is on point as well, where some places in the area give you a ball of rice with some fish. The price of each roll is below what you would see in other restaurants in the area. The service is great as well. The servers always make sure your green tea is topped off, and they are just generally pleasant people. It also helps that whenever you leave the sushi chefs always thank you and say goodbye. Overall, I write highly recommend Tomo to anyone that is looking for an affordable and nice sushi experience.

This is the only sushi restaurant we go to now. Their menu is actually unique, always consistent, and incredibly high quality of fish. I was never a big fan of anything “crunchy” on a sushi menu, but Tomo changed my mind entirely. Their prices are actually cheaper than surrounding sushi restaurants per piece and with alcohol.

We have always had a positive experience here and the food has been consistently great! We have dined in, taken out and just tonight, last minute (and late!) we decided to try the beyond menu app and order from Tomo. I called just to double check that the order went through OK and the lady who answered the phone said that the order was on the way. Literally a minute after hanging up, I checked the front door and ta-da! they were already there! The order arrived in about 20 minutes! Super fast and everything was perfect... as always!

Tomo is my favorite sushi place ever-- nothing else compares! The staff is very friendly and is on a first-name basis with many regulars (including my family), and it has both delicious food and a wonderful atmosphere. I'd go every day if I could!

Since moving to Smithtown in May ive become a fixture at this place. Kevin and Jimmy and the rest of the staff are the best. I come here 2-3x a week for my post workout sushi and sake! As a regular I get taken care of very well and feel like family every time I walk through the door. Highly recommend!

One of the best sushi I've had in a long time. Super fresh not a ton of rice. Innovative use of the ingredients to create a visual as well as a taste experience. Have to recommend the crab pancakes as one of my favorite things on the menu. The only thing I have to say that I didn't like a lot was the fried ice cream. It's probably to do with the way it's cooked but the ice cream was so hard it was like scooping a solid piece of ice. The wait staff was attentive and courteous.

Tomo has been my absolute favorite sushi spot for over 3 years and the food and quality of service truly is superior to anything else. The best Sushi in Smithtown, by far. I recommend this place to all my friends. The managers Jimmy and Kevin are super friendly and always remember their frequent customers by name. The quality is outstanding for the price. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu. If you want quality Sushi at a reasonable price, come to Tomo. I cannot recommend them highly enough. 5 stars all day, everyday.

I have to write a review for this gem that has become our staple. Tomo does not disappoint in terms of service and food. Beautiful presentation and the chefs who prepare the dishes really do a gorgeous job of creating art. I've eaten at some of the top sushi places in the city and Vegas and I swear these guys are just that good. Vast menu...always quickly served and the waitresses are just really great at their jobs. We always get surprised with a dish on the house and it's always something special we have started looking forward to. Food is always fresh and never really a wait. I do think they get a ton of takeout orders and I'm always surprised that it's not packed as it's the best sushi in town. I love supporting locally owned small businesses and this one I try to go at least 4 times a month. If you haven't stopped in I highly recommend you do. And try the Tom Yum soup....they make it better than the top restaurants in the area.

Excellent, fresh food. Clean atmosphere with the nicest, kindest staff you ever want to meet! We try to come here every week and highly recommend Tomo! I haven’t eaten ANYTHING that wasn’t good and my husband has eaten every special roll they offer and many of their other entrees, he has no favorite. My Aunt who introduced us to this restaurant loves the falling in love roll and the carpaccio appetizer, the Godzilla roll is one of my faves along with the crunchy crunchy appetizer.

Been going here for years now. They have the classic 3 roll lunch special which always hits. It comes with soup and salad and the whole special is only $14! Most places are charging more than that nowadays and you usually have to pick between a soup or salad. I am always filled after my meal and the staff gives me extra ginger when I ask for it. My mom got the steak bento box today which she loves. A great sushi lunch spot if you are around!

First time here, is a fave of friends of ours. Everything was good, some complimentary shumi for the table was appreciated and delicious (a few were a tad cold on inside). The hibachi shrimp were delish! Spent about 25 pp for dinner with only one glass of wine among the four of us.

Great food. Been coming here for the better part of 8 years. Friendly staff but quality seems to have taken a dip since they started the all you can eat option. Fish cuts seem smaller and not as good as it was, maybe it's just me, but the food is still very good. The loss of star is because everyone sees the warnings to not to waste food or possible additional charges may happen. In my lifetime of eating Japanese cuisine I have never seen any buffet or Japanese restaurant actually enforce that but here. Table next to us had 5 children that left food that they obviously didn't like and they apparently added some additional fee for food waste...its not like the kids didn't eat any of it, they actually ate quite alot of sushi and sashimi. Oldest could not have been older than 10. I commented to my wife how cool it was that kids that small weren't afraid to try sashimi....but kids are still kids...some things they will not like...but it's not like it was a crazy amount left...I just didn't understand the rationale of doing that and alienating a table of 7 customers who I'm sure won't be coming back for a very small amount amount of food leftover. Just a warning to those with kids who are picky.

Today I had lunch here with my wife. She’s been craving sushi and I heard this was a nice hidden gem. We ordered Smithtown Roll (which was fantastic), Lobster mango roll , crunchy Cali roll, Philly roll & shrimp tempura roll. I also tried a Japanese soda. The restaurant was cozy and good spot for a lunch. Nothing fancy but the food was fresh and staff was pleasant. Next time we’ll try take out.

My friend recommended this place. Said it had great food. Maybe they were having an off night but nothing that we tried was exceptional or barely memorable.

My wife and I decided to try Tomo because there was over an hour wait to get into Kotobuki in Hauppauge. I am always excited and willing to try a new sushi place and Tomo was not too far away. When I got there I was happy and a little concerned to see there was plenty of seating available. This is usually a sign if a place is good or not but we were starving and were willing to try. We started our night with a Tuna and Avocado salad, and Tuna tar tar. The tuna and avocado salad had seaweed salad in it which I didn't mind, but my wife didn't like. The quality of the tuna was ok, with some chewy pieces thru out the salad. The tuna tar tar was not tar tar :) it was more like a tuna salad and only had tuna chunks, tar tar should be finely chopped tuna and sauce. We also ordered spicy edamame which was different, it had a cajun seasoning on it with garlic. Not bad but very salty. The Rolls were fairly good, with the exception of them not made exactly as they were described on the menu, and the cut of fish could have been better. For example there were many pieces that had the tendons running thru them which caused them to be chewy. The soy sauce was way too watered down and really put a damper on the experience. Of all the things to cut a corner on whey the soy! I honestly don't know why this place has a 4.4 star rating, and I guess I know why other places have a line out the door to get in. This is my honest review

The quality of the steak is not good anymore. It is very chewy. I feel like I am trying to eat rubber :(

... You know what's sad? Being treated not like a life long customer. I now have a gluten sensitivity that's not being respected enough here. I've tried multiple times already to get answers for things on the menu. Even the basic things like the salad dressing or soup for lunch I need to know with CERTAINTY not "oh I think" if it's safe or not. It's never a complete answer everytime. Lack of care. The laughing in Mandarin made me uncomfortable. I won't be coming back here. Bad food safety like you don't know what they used their knifes on last to cut your sushi. What's on the counter before. No one knows what Gluten is. They don't understand this is a real issue that effects mostly people of European and Middle Eastern descent. It's no longer safe for me with failing blood work and more failing blood work now. It's lack of understanding mixed with uncaring enough to be bothered. All the manager can do is put gluten free soysauce on the table. Don't come here if you have any dietary restrictions it's not right for any food establishment to be like this. People have major food allergies/sensitivities. Seriously do better.

the order was supposed to be ready in 40-50 minutes which is already very long for two sushi rolls. I’m currently waiting for my order along with multiple other customers waiting for pickup who have been here for an additional hour.

I normally order from Shiki, but decided to change things up and go with Tomo. Ordered at 7:15pm, tried calling at 8:30pm to see where the delivery guy was and it was busy. Tried calling every few minutes until 9:15pm when I finally got through. No explanation for what took so long, so I cancelled the order. Maybe they forgot about my order, but the didn't forget to charge the card I gave them.

Placed an order for pick up.. 3 rolls.. they said 25 min.. it's been 45 min and still no sushi.. never order form here again

NEVERRRRR ODER FROM THIS RESTAURANT!!!!! I placed an order and they delivered. Waited over 45 minutes, finally got the food and the food was horrible!! I ordered a tuna pizza and a sexy roll. Gross... The pizza was soggy, the roll was warm and I called the manager and REFUSED to give me a refund after I told him to take all the food back. He refused and fought with me and insisted his food is "high quality" "the best food" and refused to give me my refund after I told him he could take the ENTIRE ORDER BACK. I eat sushi very often and this has been by far the WORST experience i've had.

I was really disappointed in this restaurant...the food is just, ok! In addition, another time I placed an order that never arrived. I called to check on my order after waiting for a full hour. The woman on the phone rushed me off rudely and said it that the delivery was on its way. A half hour later, it still wasn't there so I called again. I was then told that my order was never filled! So after an hour and a half of waiting, my daughter and I had pasta! I will never ever go there or order from them again! If you want great sushi without the rudeness try Nisen, Kotobuki and Shiki.

Has been 1 hr and 50 minutes since I ordered, still waiting inside to pick up. Are you kidding me? Over 20 people are inside waiting as well. No one told me they have to catch that fish first 😡

Ordered food, small order was told it would be ready in an hour. When I went to pick up the food the guy at the counter was busy taking new orders and didn’t acknowledge the people waiting to pick up. Finally after waiting due to it being a busy night I was able to get the workers attention and paid for my order which still wasn’t ready. I patiently waited with about 10 other unhappy customers. Just shy of 3 hrs from when the order was placed I inquired about how much longer it would be until my order was ready. The guy at the counter who took my money said he didn’t see an order for me in his computer and that it must be under a different number and that they didn’t have any order for me. I had to tell him he looked it up when I paid and I showed him the change he gave me. I got my money back and left. Won’t go back!! Very poorly run and staff rude.

I really wanted to like this place. It was my first and last visit. Soggy salad and the dressing was weird, but the gyozas were OK. Service was slow. Our party had to sit at tables that were like holes in the floor. My tea was barely lukewarm. The server "warmed up" my tea with tea that was cold! Portion sizes are big only if you are a tiny bird. Sorry, not my thing. :(

This place is absolutely disgusting. We ordered takeout and sushi tasted incredibly fishy & old. When I called to ask for a refund, the manager screamed at me that they sell 100’s of these rolls and that they taste fine. We tried one piece of the sushi and both my partner and I spit it out. He said since we tried a piece we can’t get a refund. I’m truly disappointed for their lack of customer service and nasty food. But if you’re desperate enough to come here, try the fried rice - that was ok.

I ordered pick up recently and the order included a dragon roll (which said it had shrimp tempura in it on the website). Instead, I received some type of eel/avocado roll. When I called the restaurant, a man kept interrupting me, insisting it’s the right roll and it has eel. On the website, and according to google, it says it has shrimp tempura. After interrupting me 2-3 times and laughing at me, I suggested they either correct their menu or reimburse the roll. He dismissed me and didn’t offer any solution other than to come all the way back again. Overall, didn’t appreciate the rudeness. And soggy sushi too.

All I got out of my night at this place was a “lost” credit card. The server actually had the nerve to tell me she lost my credit in the 20 ft between the register and our table. After a search produced nothing I was promised a thorough search after the restaurant closes, but we all know how that ended. If you go there, be prepared to “lose” your credit card. My recommendation is to stay the hell away from this place

My daughter and I went last night. Just a seating for 2. First ones waiting, asked to wait 1 min. 3 tables open. We waited 3 minutes. Asked to wait another 2 minutes we waited another 5 minutes. A family of 6 walk in. Jump ahead of us get seated quick and food brought out asap. While we are still standing there. We walked out. And went else where. This place only caters to their own kind. I won’t attempt going back here.
