Cafe Havana

Ambience was very nice. Food was delicious. I had the carne asada over guacamole purée with rice. My friend had the Paella which was cooked and seasoned to perfection. For drinks we had the Jalapeño spicy margarita which was perfectly strong🤭

What a wonderful dining experience! We came to the area to make the most of a beautiful spring day and walk a few miles on the trails at Caleb Smith State Park. Naturally by the time we were done the kids as well as the adults were super hungry. As soon as we stepped into the foyer it was clear this is not going to be a chain family dining experience. Ambience is upscale. Patrons were distanced out and covid compliant. Wait staff were superbly polite and professional. Then came the orders. There was a decent wait, but when they came out, it was totally worth it. The mofongo was the best I had outside Puerto Rico. The petite steak (churrasco a la parilla ) and the shrimp al ajillo were very well loved as well. The kids enjoyed their burgers, empanada, salad. Definitely looking forward to coming again - either to repeat my mofongo order or to try out the other excellent options on the menu.

Cafe Havana has a great atmosphere. If you’re looking for great cuban food this is the right place. Customer Service was also excellent and the food was well prepared. I am definitely going back.

They were very friendly and accommodating. I was running late for my reservation. I called them and they pushed it back. When we arrived, we were seated right away. Everything from the plantain chips to the mojito to the entree was delicious. The presentation was stunning as well. It's a little far out from where I usually stay in N.Y. but it was worth the trip. I'll be back!

Love this place, and most importantly...my wife loves it!! Update 05/16/24 I still love this place , the service is fantastic, and the food is great....99% of the time. but today I ordered the porterhouse, and I was quite disappointed. It was a little too thin for my liking. The filet mignon side was about 1/4" thick and the shell steak part was about maybe 3/4". I am just guessing on that. The flavor was ok, a bit salty though. And finally the price was $72, way overpriced. So, if you are a true steak lover, don't order the porterhouse. You too will be disappointed . Again, still a great place.

Let me tell you ….Anything you order here you’ll probably enjoy. I have yet to order something and been disappointed with it. My favorite app is the coconut shrimp perfectly made 👌🏼lol. The servers I’ve dealt with are great. Honestly, I’ve been coming here for a few years now back when it was call “ Cafe Havana”. The food, atmosphere and people are great there.

I love this place so much! The Cuban food is some of the best I have tried in Long island. I actually crave their food while writing this review. I recommend their Cuban steak, coconut muscles, coconut shrimp (not shown in pictures Bc it was from a different night), seafood paella and ropa vieja. There is also a lounge downstairs I visited after dinner - dance off those calories! Highly recommend for Cuban food cravings or just a delicious and fun night out!

Great food great drinks great ambiance. Overall great experience. 2nd time here and definitely not the last. It's a little bit more expensive then other Latin cuisine restaurants but this place is worth every penny. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is everything. Came here for a new years party back in 2016 and the place was rocking. They play Spanish music but the dancing kind. They do reservations and parties. Call for pricing if interested. The bathrooms are clean the seats are comfortable. Its a great place for business meetings or family get togethers or whatever your heart desires I feel. I like this place alot and it will not be the last time I come here. As you can see from the pictures they are good with the presentation so be prepared to be in awe. The drinks where spectacular and the red sangria is delicious. 5*s from me. Great job. Compliments to the chef n owner for having a well maintained business. Enjoy ur experience

This place feels like home! I have been a regular at Coco bistro AKA Cafe Havana for 15 years or so. I can not praise this place enough. Food, service and ambiance are top notch. They have the best Paella on Long Island hands down. Also their Churasco steak is top notch. The appetizers are excellent as well and my 2 favorites are the ceviche and beef empanada! Wrap it up with a tres leche cake and you will have the full experience! Thanks Coco Bistro for keeping the good work for all these years.

Food is an easy 9/10. Service is 10/10. Their homemade habanero hot sauce is without a doubt the best hot sauce I’ve ever had.

My fiancé and I came here for our anniversary a few days ago and wow — everything was amazing! Our waitress, Mia, was an absolute doll: so friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. She recommended the Stuffed Sweet Plantains, which were a 10/10. The atmosphere was calm, romantic, and perfect for a date night. We’ll definitely be back and hope to see Mia again!

I had a bridal shower event here for my sister. My family are so thankful to the staff that assisted us at the event. The customer service was impeccable. They were so helpful and supportive throughout the event. They were attentive to everyone especially the bride to be, myself, and the groom. They made this event incredibly smooth and stress free. Can’t say enough thanks. We are so grateful.

I took my girlfriend at Coco Bistro kitchen for her birthday and we were very pleased, and impressed by the service, food and atmosphere. It is a nice place to spend some time with friends or families, I would certainly come back, and encourage others to go there.

This place is our new favorite. The food was super flavorful, great service and wonderful atmosphere. I recommend the yuca fritas and shrimp Mofungo.

Whether you're at a table, at the bar or downstairs dancing, Coco Bistro is a little hidden gem on the edge of Smithtown & Commack right off of Jericho Turnpike. The food is fresh, unique and of high quality. A perfect spot on a friday, saturday or sunday, serving up some of the best brunch & dinner. Great spot for locals at the bar & spacious dining areas for larger parties.

We had 2 dinners from the price fix, exceptional value! Arroz con pollo and Paella - cannot say a bad word. Definitely reccommend people to give it a try we will be back.

Our first impression was what a large restaurant. When you first walk in, a beautiful semi-outdoor patio you can eat on. Proceed inside and up the stairs for the bar and main dining areas. A little darker than we like in a restaurant. Appetizers: The Mango wings were flavorful, with a perfect crunch when you bite into them. The Meatball Wellington was large, and excellent, served on a bed of red sauce. And the Crab Cakes garnished with guacamole and Mango - delicious. They just needed to be slightly more fried on the outside, for an outer crunch. For dinner, I had the Seafood Mofongo, which was excellent. My husband had the steak, which he didn't enjoy. The steak looked anemic, like it was baked. It was supposed to be marinated, but was bland. Service was excellent. Overall, definitely a good meal.

I love that Coco Bistro takes such pride in the ambiance of the restaurant and lounge. Everything feels very pristine and classy! That being said, the food and sevice are equally top-notch! I forgot to take photos of my food because it was so good. However, I ordered the pasta, which was delicious. My friend and I then headed to the lounge downstairs after dinner, and everything was great down there, too. I highly recommend this restaurant and lounge.

While visiting family in New York decided to have a girls night out and we ended up coming here. I have been here before when it was a different name, I believe the Cuban cafe…nothing has changed but the name inside looks the same. The drinks were great, ordered a Moscow mule which the first one was almost spilled on me but it was fine. Thankfully that wasn’t the case. Only reason it receives 4 stars because of that and the flan…..I’m sorry but the flan tasted like it was in the fridge for a very long time and it was old. Wasn’t a big fan of that and we didn’t eat it all. I’m a flan lover and yeah that wasn’t it. 🫤 The food was delicious, I loved the chips and guac very fresh. I ordered the island salmon which was surprisingly delicious the coconut rice was amazing it was a great touch. My friends ordered the carne asada and the pernil asado…the carne was delicious and juicy! I loved it I tried a piece of it. The pernil was good too I do wish it was a little more juicy but all in all everything was cooked amazingly. Service and ambience is excellent. A little on the high end price but there is value in the food, oh and It wasn’t busy for a Friday night.

I must commend Cafe Havana for being open and serving the Community during COVID19 Restrictions. Easy to see right off of Jericho Turnpike servicing Smithtown and the adjoining areas of Suffolk County. Plenty of parking. Clean facilities. Live Music. The hardwood floors make for loud acoustics, so "not" for the Quiet Diner. Outdoor seating is available. Pernil Asada, Carne Asado, Arroz Con Pollo, and Camarones were great. Try the Havana Banana or Tres Leches Cake for dessert. Nice staff especially our Server Kaitlyn. Not huge portions. A little on the expensive side so bring your Credit card. We will most likely be going back.

I had wanted to go here for a long time. I was not disappointed. The food and service was 5 star. It was a 4 star for atmosphere because it’s too intimate for my friends and me. Perfect for date night. I had the seafood paella, excellent. All our meals were high quality. Not a fan of the sangria, but many other choices. Definitely recommend a dinner at Cafe Havana. Park around back , it’s a lot easier.

Very enjoyable experience overall. Went for brunch with a friend for his birthday. The atmosphere was great, not quite empty, but still good enough to have a meaningful conversation without interruption. The wait staff was very attentive, but to a fault - we looked over the menu and were asked perhaps almost every minute about our order (we asked kindly for a minute to look it over, but didn't expect it to be taken literally!). Food was delicious, but portion sizes varied. I ordered the Bistro Breakfast and was disappointed over the light serving, while my friend had a much better showing with his skirt steak sandwich. Would try again, just with a different order. Have been here for dinner service too, and have been impressed.

The food was delicious to be honest, but they lack service in the sense it was very slow and the resturant was not full.. for some reason we had to be waiving at waitress, also, downstairs they have a lounge with bar that opens at 9 but at 1039 0 pm on a Saturday was empty so we had to head somewhere else... in general the restaurant is very beautiful and the staff very nice an accommodating. They just need to improve in service. Prices of food and cocktails are very competitive.

Ok so! Atmosphere beautiful! Service amazing! Food?? Ehhh not the best "cuban" meal I've had. Ordered the octopus ceviche and there was so much more onions and peppers than actual octopus. Ordered the paella, it was soso.. also had the ropa vieja, that was pretty good. Empanadas were great.. I guess I was just expecting flavors and spices but overall it was just ok. Now what made the night, was the coco lounge downstairs. On our way out walked downstairs just to see where the music was coming from and I must say 2.5 hrs later, a few drinks and lots of dancing, we had a great time. Such a pretty space. I would go back for the Lounge definitely. Ok so tried again, over a year later, 7/2023. Still soso. Def will continue to visit the lounge but will most likely come after my own dinner..

Everyone else’s brunch food looked tasty. I ordered the sweet potato scramble and got something unexpected. This was a very boring offering that I could have easily made at home. No spices used on any item on the plate. Service was great.

The food was great, very tasty, flavorful and perfectly cooked. The drinks on the other hand were the worst I’ve ever had. I had a coconut pineapple Mojito it tasted like coconut pineapple only, it came in the smallest glass I’ve ever had a drink in. They served it in a double shot glass and they filled it with ice. The waiter asked me if I wanted another one I said absolutely not it was horrible, he looked at me and said well it’s not really for the taste it’s for the aesthetics. I have no clue what that means. My friend had sangria and he told me it was tasteless and watery. This place is overpriced, hot and very dark. Would I go back, probably not if I had the choice. I would’ve felt a little different if the waiter would’ve brought me a better drink and/or said sorry I’ll make it better next time. Plus I asked him for a seltzer water which I never got. After a while I just wanted to get out of that restaurant.

Horrible food. Tastes like below average fast food. Place looks nice and gets its recognition for the social gatherings. It makes up for the lack of food quality and service with a nightlife option for the local east cupcake residents. Have fun and make the best of the situation.

The skirt steak was very tough and chewy drinks were very weak and not made well. Waiter and Staff was very nice not their fault that the food sucks and the drinks suck. I will need not be going back there again anytime soon.

The food is good, the service is excellent but the price is ridiculous . Port house steak with 4 shrimps, 81,00. Also they charge for, bread 5,00 . The clams are gradually different sizes, from mini to medium size. I went there before when used to be Cafe Havana , the name changed and the price double. Never again.

Went there last night and waited two hours and 45 minutes for average food. Waiter kept apologizing but offered us nothing. Finally I asked for a round of drinks. He said of course and they would do something about the bill. We finally got the food then got the drinks 20 minutes after they were ordered. When we got the bill the round of drinks were free but that was it, charged six dollars each for the sodas and for every meal. The manager did not even have the courtesy to apologize. I was there last year and enjoyed it. Considering there are so many other options I will never step foot in this establishment again.

Service was good but I was charged over $290 for 2 yuca frita, 2 ropa vieja ($190 on just the 2 ropa vieja), a moscow mule, a pineapple drink and 2 flan dessert. After checking reviews i feel i was slapped on the face... I liked the food but i feel i was charged too much - not to mention the 20% gratuity included

Okay so I’ve been here a few times and have loved it but DO NOT GO HERE ON VALENTINES DAY! My husband and I went and they did a $95 pre fix menu with 20% tip included, which is way too expensive and the food amount we got does not justify the pricing. We didn’t know beforehand so we couldn’t even cancel. So overall good food but disappointed how expensive it ended up being

Horrible service, went for happy hour and dinner. Happy hour was at the bar first time I see that there are reservations at the bar especially when you running a deal. We ordered margaritas, horrible the lime they used is like the bottled cheap lime, my other friend ordered Jack and Ginger Ale which was horrible as well then bartender went on to say they were having issues with the soda machine , then why serve it. Then we moved to a table for dinner it was my friends birthday dinner, we were seating at the table for over 20 minutes, no one came to the table to at least say I will be right with you. We actually decided to take a drive all the way to Rocville Centre to Papa Gallo, no regrets but the 45 minute drive, but service, food and music was amazing highly recommend.
