This is our go to whenever we come to Southold for the season and even during the fall/winter. The food doesn’t disappoint, the cocktails are strong and priced right, and the service is beyond 5 stars. The atmosphere is so welcoming and family/kid friendly. They do have a kids menu (not printed), crayons, and blank paper table mats so the kids can draw. The parking lot in the back is great but when its full, you can park on the street. I have never had a bad meal here. Our go to apps are always the crispy Brussel sprouts and the calamari. Their chili is damn good and their burgers are always consistent a d on point. We always get the pizza for our two toddlers. You dont really need reservations but if you have a party of 5+, definitely make one.

The onion rings were delicious, as was the BBQ pulled pork sandwich I had. I was there with a party of seven and we all really enjoyed our meals and several shared appetizers. Great burgers too!!! They seemed to have some good looking desserts as well, though we didn't try any. Would definitely go back!

Excellent consistent dining experience. Our server Sharmane was very professional and attentive to our table of 8. What makes this place so special is that it's a secret that only locals know about. Their menu is rich and diverse. There's something for everyone. The prices are very reasonable considering the quality and substantial portions given. We love this place. You will too.

This is one of my favorite local pubs. The bar has a great staff and menu and the energy is always positive. After a long day, this is a great stop with a group of friends. The dining room has a menu with something for everyone and the pricing is very reasonable. Great location!

We went here with 2 other couples after going to marina nearby and we were so happy with this place. Trendy, cool little tavern/restaurant with fantastic filet mignon tips and fried calamari. My friends loved their burger, fries and the shrimp basket. Can't go wrong here. Saw families here also. Good find.👍

Every time I get take out here I’m so happy. Their Chicken Milanese is delicious. Fresh arugula and tomatoes and a balsamic glaze on top. It’s good every single time I get it. Serving size is huge I usually have it for two meals!

We have been meaning to try this place for forever! We have been out here for the past 2 years part time and we finally made it! This place is very unassuming and is easily missed on the street (there is a small sign that hangs overhead). We have been told by others how good it is so definitely had to try!! The burger I heard was amazing but definitely wanted to give some other food a try! We popped in for lunch on a Friday and it was low key and everyone so friendly. They have a really nice separate bar area and a big bar to sit at! I can totally see this place being packed out in the evenings and looks like it would be a fun time! We opted to sit in the dining room where there were just a few people. The very nice server had us seat wherever we wanted which was perfect! They have a big blackboard of dinner and cocktail specials on the wall! The dinner specials looked good and we would definitely be back to try! For our lunch choices we went with the soup of the day which was cauliflower and cheese! SUPER GOOD! We also had the dumplings as I saw someone posted the pic on google and they looked really good! They were!! I was trying to be good on my dining option 😝 so opted for the Cobb salad with blue cheese dressing versus what was offered! It was sooo good I ate most of it! Probably way more than I should have and planned…😂. My hubs went for the special which was a chicken burrito! That also was super good! And of course I added my Chardonnay for my Friday lunch time 💪🏻. Overall this place was delish!! It seems alot of locals come here and it is a warm friendly vibe! Would definitely recommend if you are in the area! This is for sure a 5 star!

As a starter, we opted for the Chicken and Lemongrass dumplings, and let me tell you, they were absolutely divine! They're delicately steamed and served in a zesty ginger glaze, accompanied by a Thai dipping sauce. They're so delicious, you don't even need the dip! The marinated filet mignon steak tips also never fail to impress – they're consistently tender and bursting with flavor, making them a must-have every time we dine here. As for the main course, we invariably choose the baby back ribs. Good ribs are hard to come by in New York, but this spot has by far the best ones on the North Fork! The prices are reasonable, the cocktails consistently deliver on flavor, and the service is consistently excellent... all in all, just exceptional across the board.

I started with boneless wings and to be quite honest, they shouldn't even be on the menu. Picture having chicken nuggets with buffalo sauce on them 🤷.. Then I had a (custom) burger wth sauteed onions, mushrooms, bacon and american cheese cooked to medium temp. It was done perfectly after it was sent back to the kitchen to get all of the toppings put on it (I guess they forgot them the first time?) Expect to park on the street because they're always busy. The wait staff is attentive and friendly. And I don't know who the young girl is that's busing the tables but she deserves a raise for busting her butt...she's like a machine! Anyways, great place with a homey feel. I'll definitely be back again.

Food was pretty good. It can get crowded at times. If you dont want to wait make sure to make a reservation. Unfortunately our appetizers came out cold, but the main entrees were good. I recommend their homemade desserts. We had the chocolate penutbutter pie and it was fantastic.

Nice local watering hole- restaurant. Very good French onion soup, chicken dumplings, and fried shrimp. Moderately priced menu. Select from burgers, hand helds, catch of the day. Founders is a change of pace from the overpriced, understaffed restaurants on the north fork. Try Founders, you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Don't let the name fool you. This is GOOD food, not bar food. Our mostly church group of 10+ came together for first time in long while to break bread, laugh, and love on a Friday night. We inhaled onion soup, baked clams, calamari, and salad for apps, then seared tuna, fresh fish, and more for dinner. Desserts and coffee were awesome, too. Staff was so nice, promptly replenished drinks, and let us linger after.

A lot of good things on the menu. I get the Berger and stake tips appetizer. Fresh local fish and veggies.

Visited Founders Tavern last Saturday. Nice decor in bar area and dining room. Both areas were clean. Food was ok. I had a burger and an order of wings. Wings were not too good. Burger was juicy but needed some salt and pepper. It was very bland. Server and everyone else were very nice. Service was excellent. Bathrooms need a redo. Move the toilet next to the sink so i dont clean the toilet with my pants when I'm trying to get out of the door. Would definitely give it another try.

Sat down at 5:30 dinner was served at 6:45. Food was very good our waitress was inattentive and forgetful. We won’t be back and that’s sad because the food was good, service killed this meal

Food is decently average - not haute cuisine but we enjoyed it! Large though somewhat tasty boring salad, tasty ordinary chili, decent dumplings and very nice hometown vibe. Good place for a burger and quite decent prices.

The service was fast and the servers were nice. The portions were decently sized. However I ordered a burger and as delicious as it was it was definitely undercooked, and me sick. I would rate this place higher but I don't know if undercooking is a precedent at this establishment.

I have eaten here 3 times. Each time has just been average. I have ordered steak, burger and ribs. Each was bland and average. I can't understand how you can mess up a burger on a grill... This is definitely a locals type of place. Lots of older folks and Southold Fire Department guys making up half the bar. Its definitely a bar first that sells food. I dont drink anymore so I cant speak to the booze. They did had a bunch of local beers on tap which is nice to see. The place is nice inside and the drinks are served in glasses. If you here to drink and maybe get a snack I can see it being ok. But I wouldnt come here for dinner.

Typical local pub spot. It is good. The beer selection is good. The food is pub food, not spectacular but good quality. The staff was great, bartenders are very nice and attentive, even on a busy football playoff time with a full bar. The Old Fashioned was good. If you want comfort food and a cozy environment, stop in. Tell em Barsnobs sent ya!

Went here for dinner last night. I agree with another reviewer that said they rush you out of the table. As a matter of fact the owner or manager guy with glasses stood at the wall watching and waiting and instructing the bus boys to ask to clear away plates the minute you put your fork down. The have a lot of Brooklyn beer here which we think they are all gross. The pizza was SOOO thin it was nearly there!! (and I happen to love a thin crust but this was just ridiculous) The onion rings nearly had an onion in them. Do yourself a favor and go else where.

I recently visited founders tavern and had an unpleasant experience with one of the workers. As soon as I walked in to the empty restaurant the server says”Are you going to be done by 5:30?” I respond with “yes that works” she resorts” well it’s going to have to work; we have a party coming in”. The food is decent and everything else goes smoothly we pay and leave a tip. The server raced outside to approach me and questioned the amount I left, implying dissatisfaction with their service. Next time, I’ll bring a calculator to make sure my tip is up to their standards! Was the tip not enough or was the clientele not to her standards?

I think people are forgetting a tip is curtesy and you are tipped based off your service regardless how high tipping percents are now a days. This being said if you think you deserve 18% tip after asking a party who walked in at 3:30pm if they are going to be done by 5:30pm and then telling them “it’s going to have to work because we have a party coming in”… Tushing us every step of the way, then once all is said and done the bill is paid and a cash tip is left on the table. To have the server chase you to your car with the tip and ask “was there something wrong with the service?” because the tip did not fit the bill as per her, then proceed to hand the tip back to us and walk back inside you have to be crazy.

Food is decent but nothing spectacular. Service is terrible. Rude man that works there.
