Wow Jeff thank you for the great service you had ur hands full and knocked it out. Phenomenal job by Jeff as we sat at the bar. Great food and drinks well deserved 5 stars. Had toasted ravs , fettuccine Alfredo and spaghetti and meat balls. Food was awesome but the service even better.
I had the smoked mozzarella sandwich. It was an explosion of flavor in every bite. And don’t forget to see Bruce at the bar. Pours a good drink and very knowledgeable about the menu
Known as the longest running restaurant on the Hill that is still in business, it blew my mind. The history, the environment, the service, the music, the intimate low-lit atmosphere, everything was what you would expect coming to dine on the hill. I will be back and with an army. Thank you Rigazzis. Bruce was my Bartender, and he was top notch, a gentleman and a scholar.
Won’t forget this lunch! Best toasted ravs, St Louis style pizza and layers of happiness in the meat lasagna. Bruce took great care of us and we’ll be back!
Great relaxing lunch. Nice setting. Pretty interior. Cold fishbowl and delish meatball sandwich and fries. Bruce was awesome told us a little Ragazzi's history and about the new things here. I will definitely be back for Happy Hour- $5 specials
Patrick and Bex we’re AMAZING & the food was Exceptional.
Bruce is amazing! He gave us background info on toasted ravs and poured amazing beer! Definitely coming back here! Thanks Bruce and rigazzis!!!
GREAT experience. Ate here on Saturday night. Service was wonderful. Food quality was exceptional. Good atmosphere. 5 star meal without having to dress, or pay, for 5 star experience.
The food I ordered was very spicy. But let em tell you about Becky with the great hair! She took care of our orders, drinks, defended our crazyness and took a group shot of us while standing on a chair. Order the chicken fettuccine, ask for Becky with the great hair and have a good time!
I most always get some dish with red sauce. Not today! Eureka I found it! Hail the Chicken Spedini. chicken on-a-stick, marinaded and char grilled served on a bed of light angel haired pasta. The pasta was so good! Light and herby. I am so happy I tried this. Do it, order it. Be happy.
Thank you Bruce! What a wonderful lunch experience! Delicious mostaccioli and salad. Bruce was so personable and friendly with a great smile. Made us feel special! Convenient location with ample free parking! Delightful menu!
Visited on Mardi Gras/Fat Tues. Were hesitant due to the large crowds. Boy - were we floored IN AN EXCELLENT WAY! Dare I say it was the BEST pizza I had ever had. The beef modiga was cooked exactly medium rare, as asked & melted in my mouth. The experience was heavenly. I left the wine pairing to waiter’s choice &, boy, he did NOT disappoint! and while I expected it to be a more expensive choice (which it certainly tasted & paired like) It was actually very very affordable.
We had a great experience at Rigazzi's from start to finish. The service was exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Our server, Brianna took the time to offer thoughtful recommendations and checked in just the right amount without ever feeling intrusive. We dined in the dog-friendly outdoor seating area in which the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxed meal with our pup. Every dish was excellently prepared and full of authentic flavor. I ordered the chicken parmesan and side house salad which were perfection and my husband had the cannelloni which he deliciously devoured. We shared an order of their house-made toasted ravioli, probably some of the best we have eaten! We even ordered a small side of beef tenderloin for our dog, Diamond for a special dinner treat! We highly recommend and plan to return for future yummy meals!
I grew up in St. Louis and moved away for nearly 40 years. I’ve been back for a year and a half and finally made it to Ragazzi‘s. Everything was perfectly made and served. I had considered going to a nearby food court. I’m so glad I decided to go to Riga’s instead.
This was my first time here. It did not disappoint. Service was great, food was delicious. We were seated right away. We chose to sit on the patio, which was clean and the weather was fantastic. We were brought water right away. Our server Bex was very attentive and great energy. Food came out fairly quickly. Food temp was perfect. Very happy with my experience and we will return. Thank you Rigazzi's for making my first experience a great one!
Thank you all for helping me reach 13 million views. I only write reviews if something is outstanding or terrible 😆 🤣 😂 If you would like to keep up with the latest on my reviews hit that follow button. Here's your review: First, the outside, I totally forgot to take a picture, but there is an arch in front so you must not forget to stop and snap a pic. Next there are 2 doors you wanna look for the signs that say welcome. At first it may be confusing if you're chatting and walking, so heads up on that. The service was a 10 out of 10. They were polite, went above and beyond, and they remembered our drinks and kept them filled. They do have some of the classics and signature drink options so give those a try. I posted pictures of what I had for your viewing pleasure. It was the risotto balls. They are smaller than the ones Ive had before but they did not lack in big flavor. If you have dietary restrictions like I do, there are few options, but you can find something at least. My friends ordered salad and lasagna and they loved it. For dessert we had tara masu. It was so soft, creamy, and a delicate flavor. I noticed there was a dessert my friends asked for thats normally on the menu, but this day something didn't come out right and they refused to serve it. I like when people take pride and serve food to perfection. I could really tell how proud they were and seemed like a great team which showed up in the flavors. Welp thanks for reading my review. Until next time, happy eating 😋 and shopping 🛍 .
The place was very cool, family feel. The food was delish! In for a work event and highly recommend this spot!
On The Hill in Saint Louis, an area populated long ago by Italian Americans, Rigazzi's was one of my favorite places for it's warm, traditional home style dining. And, of course, it's great Italian dishes and the famous fishbowl of beer. I first visited 50 years ago and it's since burned down and been rebuilt, and then rebuilt again later, but the authenticity of the place and the people remains the same. Huge portions of fill your belly food, a nice list of wines and it just doesn't get much better than this for neighborhood dining.
I'm not sure how but this was our first time at Rigazzi's. We will definitely be back. The food was amazing!!! The service was incredible! We will be back for sure!!!
Bruce was very attentive a polite. He let us enjoy our lunch but didn't leave us in the dark. My father got a spicy dish and Bruce even made it extra spicy for him. He loved it! And the chicken Marsala was amazing!!! Completely hit the spot for me.
I had such a great experience here. The food was outstanding and the portions were great. Our waiter, Haley, was incredibly friendly and attentive. She made our experience special. She made great recommendations and checked in at the perfect times. If you are looking for amazing food and great service, I 100% recommend Rigazzis! I will be back soon.
All I can say is WOOOO HOOOOO!!! How lucky are we!!!?? We made reservations for Rigazzi’s and it just so happened to be a snowstorm this particular night. We weren’t sure if the business was going to be closed or what and luckily Jeff, who took our reservation, called us and said that he would stay open for us! We got there and Jeff was our hostess, our waiter, and probably even the cook! He was absolutely AMAZING! We were celebrating our friend’s birthday and he couldn’t have made it any better for us! Our fishbowls and dinner were absolutely DELICIOUS!!! Thank you so much, Jeff! YOU made our evening a GREAT one!! Rigazzi’s is so lucky to have you!!!!
We arrived on the Friday after Thanksgiving with 27. It seemed they didn’t have the reservation we thought we had made. They went to ask the manager(I think). He immediately seated us in the cozy back room and assigned Zach to wait on our table. Zach was al excellent. He was so attentive and took great care of us. Way to go team for finding room in the inn on that cold and snowy night.
Six of us had a great experience at Rigazzi's tonight. Our server, Erica was perfect! She was personable, helpful and accommodating when we were ordering, and checked in with us periodically. The atmosphere was very nice, and we were all able to visit without shouting, which isn't always the case in some noisier places. Everyone enjoyed the food too.
We visited Rigazzis for lunch and Bruce the Bartender immediately greeted me and sat me on the clean, welcoming patio. We were attended to by Bruce and received top notch service. The we ordered the Rigazzi salad (great, with just the right amount of dressing) wings were saucy and fried just right. The authentic toasted ravioli and stuffed mushrooms were delicious. The music was country, I would’ve liked a mix. All and all great place to have lunch
The Manager and the Bar Tender that just started working there were 2 incredible people and made us feel welcome and appreciated! They were friendly and helpful as well as professional and interested! Thank you for a wonderful evening
A very dear friend of mine and I met after years of separation and slid into one of Bex’s booths with ease. She was amazing (and patient) allowing us all the time we needed to have our conversations and catch up. Which we really appreciated. But at the same time, she was super attentive. They have really great gluten-free options, so I was happy to eat there with my celiac and I felt very comfortable to do so. There were big groups, intimate dates and friends in small groups. This place can handle it all. It’s a really cool little place in St. Louis and if you’re in the mood for Italian food, I feel like this is should be your go-to.
We had not been to Ragazzis in many years, but since I grew up on The Hill I am very familiar with this 70 year old restaurant. We were not disappointed. We had reservations and sat right down when we arrived. Since it was New Years Eve, it was busy, but we still got our very yummy food quickly. And you can't beat the very unique Fish Bowl draft beer. Will be back soon!! David A
Simple yet warm place to get good Italian food on The Hill. Not over crowded like many places. There is enough room to feel comfortable. The menu is very good, and the food is also done well. With a crowd, it's not quiet, but you can fit a crowd. And there is ample parking. Service is good too.
Beck was awesome, very attentive and great personality! Food was good and authentic. We were there from out of town and this was our second visit. Our first visit was amazing and our second was good. However I think it was a menu choice on the second visit that didnt get it 5 stars...just a personal preference. I would definitely recommend this great place!
Mmmm. We just had the best experience at Rigazzi’s. We stopped in on a Sunday afternoon for a late lunch. We shared the Chicken Spedini and each had salads. The chicken was delicious. Save your bread for dipping into the light butter sauce because it’s next level. Our server was attentive but we never felt rushed. Such a great meal. We will definitely be back.
Not too shabby. Our group had a good time. We got there early for dinner, but it was already getting busy. Smells great! They facility has some great memorabilia and a nice vibe to it. We tried apps and had some drinks. Everything was decent, and the mushrooms were great. The staff was present and responsive and everything looked clean. Overall, it was a good experience, we will be back.
Italian Popular Restaurant on the “Hill” with tourists and locals alike. Long time established. We ordered Rigazzi’s House Salad Very Good Cannelloni Excellent Salsiccia Diavolo, beware VERY spicy Very Good Cannoli - Excellent Cheesecake - Very Good Full bar available. Toasted Ravioli of course. Appetizers Salads Pasta Sandwiches Entrees. Service was great.
I had the lasagna it was good! I like sauce so for me it was sauced well & not dry. The starter bread & butter was good too. I believe I paid close to $20.00 for it but I was on vacation. Staff was really nice and welcoming.
My group of 3 went here for dinner following a visit to the History Museum on a cold Sunday in January. My dad had been wanting to try this spot for several years and we finally made it. I guess I usually expect an Italian restaurant to be more upscale than others, I'm not sure why. This place is not so- which is totally fine! Just don't expect fine dining. Tables are covered in plastic red and white checked tablecloths and the menus were faded with some words rubbed away (making it hard to read). I think the item we ordered that had the most flavor was the bruschetta, it was delicious and I could have eaten that for my full meal. I ordered the chicken marsala and was able to eat the whole dish, it was tasty! But again, just not the best you can find on the Hill. The other two in my party ordered lasagna and thoroughly enjoyed it. The restaurant was clean, we were seated quickly, service was friendly, and the prices seemed a little steep. The stained glass picture caught my eye on the way to the restroom because we had just viewed the new World's Fair exhibit at the history museum. Love a spotlight on local history, and it's a neat custom piece.
Riley was our server; my bestie & I came here for dinner Saturday night. The place was fairly busy but not too noisy. Our server was attentive & friendly. The food respectfully was nothing special; I was visiting from Chicago so I’ve had better tasting Italian food, but it was very reasonably priced. The bread was cold which was disappointing but the calamari was pretty good. The salads were basic, both the Caesar & the house versions. The chicken Parmesan was alright; I wasn’t crazy about the amount of oil the pasta sat in. The tiramisu was prbly the best of all the meals.
For the price and fair, there are better choices. So called 'Famous for fish bowls (of beer)', but not where the locals ago. Decent happy hour deals and open Mondays, but the same prices as options with much better tastes and experience. I ordered the risotto, many options, and I chose the mushroom. It fell flat, perhaps some acid would have helped. Exchanged it for a tortellini, not exactly much better.
We were at this restaurant in August and the food and service were excellent. Tonight, a totally different experience. Not only was our waitress not friendly, she was borderline rude. When we asked for more bread, she practically threw it down on the table. One of the pieces of about 5 slices of bread was flat and misshapen and looked like it had been smashed. Even though I sat my glass on the table’s edge to signal that we needed refills, she didn’t come back to refill our drinks until she brought the check. We thought maybe she was having a rough time with the holidays or having to work on Christmas Eve, so we still tipped her well. Quite frankly more than she deserved. I should also say that at the time we went, the restaurant was not busy yet and had only two other small tables in the main dining area. For the $6.50 that the side salad cost, the lettuce was not fresh and basically consisted of a few sun dried tomatoes, some cheese and a little chopped onion. My chicken parm was almost burned looking around the edges and overcooked to the point of being dry and flavorless, plus I found a bone in ‘boneless, skinless’ chicken breast. The two individuals that I was with said that their food was mediocre at best. Very disappointing, as our first visit was great all the way around. I’m hoping that Rigazzi’s and their wait staff were just having an off night.
We’re frequent patrons of this restaurant. Unfortunately, we had our first terrible experience at Rigazzi’s. No TVs were on in the back room as they usually are. Our fishbowls were flat (3 different beer brands), and the bread was served cold instead of the usual warm. Toasted ravioli and chicken wings were good. We didn’t see our server for refills on drinks/water until after our entrees arrived (which was a substantial amount of time). Fettuccine Alfredo was good as was the chicken parmesean. The Italian beef sandwich was less than impressive compared to the past, and the calamari was greasy, rubbery, soggy, and unseasoned. Our server was inattentive and unfriendly. It breaks my heart that one of our favorite STL establishments has gone so far downhill. Hopefully, they will rectify some of these needs for improvement. Moving forward, we’ll just go to Massa’s in St. Charles as they far surpass theh food quality and hospitality of Rigazzi’s.
I wish it was a better experience. Dining room seemed like a cafeteria with traditional red checkered coverings, booth was not roomy. Our waitress was good, but food was less than spectacular. Toasted ravs were not even breaded, I've had better frozen pizza than we had a rigazzis. Salad was ok. Bill was $200 for 4 people. Not worth it to me.
Went to Rigazzi’s tonight for the first time in several years as life is busy and we just don’t get to the Hill as much as we’d like to. Wow, what a disappointment. We had a reservation and we were seated right at our reservation time. That was the best part of the evening. It was at least 15 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. We ordered appetizers at that time and it was probably another 45 minutes before they came out, and then only after my husband went to ask where they were. Twenty minutes later the salads were served wilted and there were pieces of rotten lettuce throughout. As if all of this wasn’t bad enough, after almost two ours our meals were served to us completely COLD. We tried to eat it anyway, but nothing tasted like we remembered. The sauce was bitter and the lasagna may has well have been a frozen Stauffer’s. At this point we decided we weren’t even hungry anymore and gave up. We were planning to just pay and leave, but the waitress insisted on bringing out the manager and he was actually great. Apologized profusely and comped the meal. Even so, the quality of the food was so bad we will not be going back.
I really wanted to like my first experience here, as I heard favorable reviews. Unfortunately, my experience was the opposite. While seated in the back, there was only one waitstaff managing at least 6 tables alone, clearly frustrating waiter. Our food came out sporadically and cold, making the wait even worse. Lastly, upon paying bill towards end of service, waitstaff lost our debit cards-claiming they were never received. We were flabbergasted and not even offered an apology once they were found! Needless to say, I won't be back. The food certainly matched the service, sadly.
It was first time here. I was very disappointed and don't understand the popularity. I ordered the Lasagna and it was frankly pretty mediocre. For some reason my entree took the longest to bring out in my party of 7 even though it tasted it have been made maybe several hours ago and just reheated in the oven. The portion size was laughable. I didn't take a picture of it but let's just say for $20, I was expecting a piece maybe 1.5 or maybe 2 times the portion I received. I was nowhere close to full after I finished my lasagna and it was pretty much like a light snack. I will not be back.
after making my pizza wrong the first time and telling me in will be 5 minutes for the new one i then get my new pizza 15 minutes later just to get some raw uncut bacon strips laid across my pizza. honestly hilarious you can’t make this up but also took forever.
My sister bought several cannoli for a holiday dinner. They had about 1 inch of filling in each end, empty in the middle! The filling was more like cake icing than the traditional ricotta cheese filling. Shameful!!
This food was great (said sarcastically) not only was this service an absolute catastrophe, servers/employees rolling their eyes at us when we asked for silverware after our food came out. Rolling their eyes when my wifes burger came out raw! I split apart the patty to show them it was raw and all they did was was put that half patty back on the grill. The picture is below. Theres not toppings or anything. The salad was so soggy. The chicken parm looks like it was cooked 3 days ago. The noodles are rock hard.
Went during the Christmas season. Decorations were adorable and festive. Service was just ehhh and the food was an embarrassment for Authentic Italian. Since new ownership it has not been as great as it used to be. So unfortunate. We left over half our meals untouched. Lasagna, Alfredo, and Chicken Parm. The server didn't even say a word.
I’ve been eating at Rigazzis for 36 years and I can say that our service and food tonight was the first I’ve experienced from any restaurant that I’ve eaten at on the hill. Our server kept forgetting to bring things that we asked for, our appetizers , salads and entree came out at the same time. The food was so dry, had barely any marinara or butter sauce if that’s what the dish called for. This is the main reason you eat at an Italian restaurant is the sauce, I even asked the waitress if there was a new cook for this very reason since so little sauce was on everybody’s food. I will never eat at Rigazzis again, thankfully there are so many Italian restaurants to choose from on the hill.
Rigazzi’s has long been a Hill staple, so we were genuinely happy to get a reservation during Christmas week. We had a table of six and were seated right on time at 5:30. We had tickets for the Botanical Garden lights at 7:30, so timing mattered. We were promptly seated and placed our drink and appetizer order. We chose the toasted ravioli and rice balls. Unfortunately, both arrived overcooked and dry, which set a disappointing tone early. Our entrée order was taken around 5:45. The food did not arrive until nearly 6:50. When it finally came, none of the entrees were good. The food was watery, lacked flavor, and was somewhat cold. At that point, we ate quickly out of necessity rather than enjoyment and had to flag down the waitress to get our check so we wouldn’t miss our next reservation. The atmosphere itself was still pleasant and familiar, which made the experience even more frustrating. With a bill over $200, the quality simply did not match the price. Honestly, a frozen entrée at home would have tasted better. It’s sad to see the decline of a place with such a strong reputation. This visit was a real letdown, especially given the occasion and expectations.
Was very disappointed! The meat sauce was bland..Ordered ckn parm sand and steamed veggies..sandwich had no taste..veggies were good as far as the broccoli, squash and zucchini but there was a huge amount of peas (seemed like a can amt) We asked for refills of water and diet soda..had to ask twice..we never got bread and when we asked she went behind bar to get (not sure where that was stored) came on a plate not a basket like the other tables..stale! MISS the delicious food, service and atmosphere of the Old Riggazis!!! Maybe change name with new owners because it's nothing like Rigazzis was!
