It is just next to my apartment. I love to sit there, eat nice food and work on my assignment. On weekends, it is an amazing place to sit, relax, have a beer and relax with your friends.
I love everything on their menu, really. They have the best tomato and tortilla soup you ll ever try.
Convenient for students. Burritos and sandwiches are good value.
Stopped in for a burrito cuz my son was on campus and omg the super carne asada burrito was so yum!!!
The food is good and large portions for the price, service is usually quick
Surprisingly good food for an on campus restaurant. The fact that they serve beer is a huge plus for those beer lovers.
Food is great! Make sure to check opening hours as they can fluctuate from week to week.
Plenty of outdoor and indoor seating here, and the atmosphere is relaxed and informal. The restaurant offers a variety of cuisine types, and servings are substantial for the price paid. The food is delicious.
All the students love Ray's! It's a great campus spot with large portions, located at a great middle point between EV and Rains
Offers quite a diverse menu, and rather cheap for Palo Alto. The food was good (not great) but definitely left full and feeling like I got more than I paid for. Will be back!
International menu. Good portion size. For these days, reasonable prices.
Excellent food for a great price!
Wonderful experience at Ray’s Grill. Everything was great, we had such a great time. We went there on a Sunday for lunch and the place was empty. Service was good as well and super quick. We got a poke bowl, fries, wings, sandwich and a butter squash salad. The nachos were awesome loaded with cheese and guacamole. Better than in some Mexican restaurant.
The food is good and big portion , the prices is good , the interior setting is nice as the exterior setting , the atmosphere is good as well , I recommend this place if you visit Stanfard university.
Ordered a butternut squash arugula salad with quinoa which was quite delicious. Food came our quite quickly, plenty of seating, easy access to all the residential areas of Stanford and not too far from the central campus.

Great variety, big selection, large portions, conveniently located next to graduate housing.
What makes Ray's the key place on campus? The employees! The people behind the counter serve up a classic California cuisine that sometimes is hard to find -- made just how it should be. My kids feel at ease here and there is a game room for kids upstairs. The beers on tap are just right to end that rough day of the academy. I stay away from their Thai food -- I honestly don't know why it is even on the menu. My aunt ordered it once... Everything else is excellent. Again the employees make it that place.

The people that work here have been here for years. If you need anything just ask nicely and if they can they will take care of it. I honestly don't know why a small place like this has such a low turnover -- it improves the service quita a bit.
Good food! My favorites are the butter chicken, teriyaki bowls, and the sweet tequila wings. Really wish they would stay open later!
Great food, reasonably priced, but sometimes they're slow to serve
Reasonably priced and located right inside the campus. The Burgers and burritos are value for money.
Food taste good but I don't know why the ladies had that bad attitude all the time. Every time we came for lunch is the same bad attitude from the ladies that works here. They should have people with better attitude
A variety of good food at very reasonable prices. A favorite among students.

Comically large menu. They have Indian, Thai, Mexican, Italian, you name it.....I have been here 10-15 times and liked the Mexican fare the best. All of the food is cheap and pretty good, but also pretty greasy. Feels a bit like eating McDonald's. Relaxed hangout spot for Stanford students with a salsa bar and big TV......pretty sure every customer I saw was under 30.
I've been to Ray's a couple of times to hang out with a group of friends. The first time I was here, I ordered a burrito, and the second time I ordered carnitas tacos. Overall, I think I prefer the tacos, as they had a good balance of meat to wrap to sauce, but the burrito was just a touch on the oily side. I do still recommend the burritos; they're quite filling and half of one can be saved for a subsequent meal. I always like getting tea here, because they have really nicd chamomile tea which really hits the spot on cold nights. As a plus, it's close to a lot of graduate housing, has a lively atmosphere, and a diverse selection of cuisines to choose from (if that is a good or a bad thing, I cannot tell you). Also, the service is usually fairly quick and the staff are nice and efficient. A minus for this place is the pricing. I feel it could be more affordable, but I guess the restaurant has to match the cost of living in this area. Another thing is the lack of vegetarian options, particularly for tacos, which becomes annoying for vegetarian students on Taco Tuesday (it's a special they run with discounted tacos).

there is absolutely no reason for me to wait 10 mins for my freaking americano when the guy that came after me got his breakfast burrito already. There are only 2 customers in there! Outrageous! made me late!
Ray's is close to rains and Escondido, but can be a mixed bag- I've had orders mixed up or inexplicably long wait times before. Same owner as treehouse, and very similar menu
To be fair we ate there at 3pm in the afternoon. Not exactly prime time. But the food was good. The selection is hilariously broad. They have food that touches from all cultures, it's all a bit fusion so don't go expecting traditional cuisine.
Your classic grad student bar! More affordable than anything else in the downtown/college town area. This place has salad/sandwiches, pitchers, burgers, wings, Indian, Asian, Mexican food! Standard: Caesar salad is decent. Indian food: never got it... too skeptical to try haha Asian: Pad Thai or Thai red curry are decent. Mexican: Steak NACHOS yum! Quesadillas! Cuban Missile Crisis burrito bowl!! Mexican/Bar food is pretty good here! Chicken can be dry dry. It’s budget food that at least offers a variety. And it’s the only take out place on campus open all week. It also has a TON of TVs! So watch the game! Also free WiFi. I love this place it’s a nicer dive bar kind of place that grows on you even though it’s not great!
Decent food with enormous variety on the menu. Had the poke bowl and portion size was good for the price. The space and atmosphere are not the best nor welcoming, so would recommend grabbing to-go

Alright location for a wide range of food options from burgers to tacos and beer on campus. For the price, one would expect the portions to be a bit larger or at least come with a few more sides to make a better meal with little cost difference to the restaurant. This location is, however, open much later than a majority of the regular on campus locations, and as such tends to have a captured audience. It would be great if the location expanded seating and offered more options to engage with students such as trivia nights, socials, etc. to bring in students to the location. Also, burritos would be amazing. If you're looking for the GCC Havana room, it is around the right side (when facing Ray's entrance), or through the double doors inside.

Came to get a bite to eat here the menu is big but the food is bland with no flavor. I asked for a Stella and they ran out and didnt bother to change the keg they just asked me to order something else. I will not be back. Sorry
Average food but it's convenient. Very slow if there are more than 5 people eating there.
Food is not bad (reason for a 2 star) but the staff isn’t too helpful. I left my raybans on the table and in a matter of 5 minutes of me returning from my car, it wasn’t there. I asked the staff and they were acting nervous about it, no interest and even helping.
Soup was ok, but the quesadilla was horrible. Pieces of bone and foul smelling, inconsistently cooked chicken comprised 2/3 of the pieces I was given. Not worth $21 bucks, despite the decent portion sizes.
I highly recommend eating meals their partner resturaunt "The Treehouse," if you have a choice between the two(around 1 mile separating them). The food at Rays is good and inexpensive, but the service is lacking and the crowd control is terrible. Today, for example, I waited for over 45 minutes to get a dish that treehouse could have (and has) prepared regularly in just 10. The staff at the Treehouse is good, prompt, and friendly. While the food at Ray's is not bad, the Treehouse consistiently provides a better overall eating experience.
Had the jalapeño burger, very mid even compared to Stanford dining hall food

I live right next to it and I haven't eaten there in months. Staff is rude, if you go in the morning there's no one behind the counter and you have to wait until someone notices you and comes to the register. They are open in the morning and yet they have very limited breakfast things, no pastries or baked items. The food is dripping in oil. If there's a long line at night you'll wait forever. They have beer which is good.

staff is rude. food isn't great. Next time I'll walk a little more and eat at treehouse. They have exactly the same menu but the food is so much better
Food feels cheap and unhealthy and the vibe feels disgusting. Stanford having such an establishment as the main offering of food/drinks for graduate students off campus is embarrassing.
Definitely the worst burger I have ever had. But beer OK! Eaten it but now afraid for my life.. x)
They have someone new working the counter, and ever since that change, it's pretty much gone completely downhill. She talks inappropriately with the staff about the customers in front of them and is pretty consistent with being negligent of customers' requests. What's worse is that I'm a pretty frequent customer at this place, and things usually run pretty smoothly, but ever since this particular employee's hiring, eating here has been realllly questionable. She repeatedly chocks it up to "being new" but that doesn't excuse the rude behavior. And above all else, she shouldn't be blaming customers that come back saying that their order was wrong. It's rude to tell a customer (not me, but someone I've witnessed) that they told her the wrong order when Clearly they hadn't. I'm just really disappointed because this used to be spot I loved very much.
Place sucks now. They didn’t even put ham in my breakfast sandwich. Also the egg was over salted. Little concerning how they forget the ham… did you guys run out of ham? Btw the fries are terrible. Frozen fries maybe?

Tried most things on the menu, food not great. Only place open near my dormitory so no choice but to eat here. The pad thai had peanuts and the lady was angry when I told her I was allergic. Pad Thai is a soggy mess of noodles. Chef doesn’t know how to cook.
It’s just unbelievable that you need to wait 30 minutes for a burger. There’s less than 10 customers waiting and 3 staff in the kitchen. I would call it a miracle.
Went here after my early shift, woman behind the order bar was very rude to me, and my food was sub par. Woman was very snooty and acted as if she hated her job. Don’t recommend if you like good service.
One of the worst customer service I’ve experienced. Server charge large while asked for medium. And when I question she said “then I wouldn’t serve you”.
The girl taking phone orders and at the counter on weekday mornings is rude. If she does not enjoy her job she should find another one.
I used to be a regular at Ray’s Grill because it was close to home and convenient, but today was the last straw. I ordered the tortilla soup, hoping it would be easy on my stomach after a bout of food poisoning the day before. I specifically asked for some bread with it—literally the most basic thing you’d expect with soup—but they didn’t include any. When I asked, they wanted to charge me extra. It’s not about the money, it’s about the principle and basic customer care. I was sick and relying on them, but instead they nickel-and-dimed me over bread. Very frustrating and disappointing. I won’t be going back, and I’ll be warning friends and family about this place.
