This is a very nice place to escape other than the public library. Organic coffee, soups and teas and other good stuff. Alots of books here to choose from.
Cute little cafe serving up a very decent coffee in an eclectic atmosphere. Great way to rest tired feet and recharge for more sightseeing.
Super cute and cosy book store! Very friendly people ☺️
nice employees, good drinks, and a lot of used books to choose from
One of the coolest establishments on staten island. A place welcoming and excepting to all. Also a very nice place to see a show
Love this place, especially the garden. Stop by for coffee, tea ( wide variety) get a sandwich and relax inside or in the garden.
Great reading; great coffee and snacks; great neighborhood place! Great community, great special events; great people! Great place for writers as well!!
The vibe here is INCREDIBLE, you'll never find a place like this in Staten Island, it really has its own style and vibe. Come to an open mic!
Great selection of teas, a well stocked bookstore and a nice calendar of events. We've come here for various concerts and cultural happenings.

Nice original selection of used books and vinil. Big selection of teas, some snacks.
Such a great place. Staff, coffee, books! All wonderful!
Very relaxed place, Good espresso machine and lovely little garden. Music and art are right at home here. Great discovery for those whom miss the Brooklyn hip cafe culture. Enjoy.
I’ve been coming to this cafe for a while now and they always blow me away! The staff are so nice and friendly, the food is definitely filling, you get a nice portion for the price you pay and I guarantee you it’ll fill you up! Try their daily soups and my absolute favorite, Eve’s Elixir! I’m definitely going to keep coming here!
This quaint little book store cafe has a speak-easy vibe and ambiance where you can catch an author doing a book read or signing do pop by and take a moment to relax reflect and reboot at this delightful get away spot store hours are limited check hours of operation prior to going.
Great neighborhood hangout. They offer used books, in a coffe shop setting. Also offer internet, organic coffees, snacks, etc. There are frequent activities offered, ie. Music, plays, poetry readings, talks. Wonderful friendly staff. A wonderful place to relax.
I found it to be peaceful. The staff was great and very friendly. The coffee is delicious. I really enjoyed the time spent there and can't wait to visit again.
Such an amazing and relaxing place. Took my fiancé here on a second date and it was a hit! Plus they have vegan food options when I was last there which was great.
It is the home of all S.I. singers, song writers and musicians. We call it the "VORTEX" where the good vibes all come together. Like an village cafe of the early 1960's. Refreshingly non-materialistic. Where respect for an individuale's karma, and comfort, is most important. My favorite place.- Lou Russo, Staten Island SNUGS
Katie is amazing this place got us through the pandemic. It was tough on my kids but being at the bookstore was heaven sent!!
The best coffee house ever!!
Very nice place! Excellent coffee and great book selection!
ETG is a nice, quiet coffeehouse with all the books and record albums the curious shopper or collector could desire. The coffee drinks and baked desserts are also excellent. I love ETG.
Wonderful place. Super friendly staff, tasty coffee and baked goods. Great atmosphere. The facilities are super clean and welcoming, too. Highly recommend.
Totally unique - reminds me of places that used to exist in the 70s - wonderful ambiance, great snacks, a million teas, great music, every kind of book under the sun (we always leave with armloads of them), and of course, wonderful friendly staff. I tell everyone about this place.
ETG instantly transends me to a peaceful state of mind. Tonight's open mic was awesome! So many talented artists were brave enough to get up on stage & share thier songs, stories, poems. Thank you.
I began going to ETG over 10 years ago. Starting back in college at monthly full moon drum circles ! I've now moved away from the city but try my best to stop in and say hello to Steve and Katie, and grab the tastiest mocha! Thank you all at ETG for provideing a safe, open and loving space !
I really enjoyed this place I'm really not into spending my money with the big corporations I love small businesses and Mom and Pop shops when I went here I felt comfortable I bought books at T at Food the tuna melt was awesome they made me really feel at home and comfortable this place is awesome I would recommend it to anyone that wants to get away from the normal monotonous behavior of life everything here is just free-spirited and livable
This place is awesome, you could spent hours finding incredible stuff while enjoying a cup of their great coffee. Katy is an amazing staff member.
Started going here when I found it right before the pandemic ….it is like stepping into your favorite book it feels magical I started my collection because of going here now I am 350 books in and need to go back …so happy it’s open I have missed it!
Great funky little place. Just like you would find in the Village or Williamsburg. Low key ambience. Snacks. Good coffee. Lots of books.
Great place to find a bargain. Coffee and tea. Pick up the cookies too.
Warm, friendly, welcoming. An oasis in the storm. Great coffee, too!
Hidden gem. Stumbled in by accident, had a great time and got a very good coffee and of course some amazing books. It's not too stuffed with articles so it's quality before quantity. The quiet atmosphere makes it very comfortable and you can definitely take your time and browse around a bit.
Came all the way from Vancouver to new york and went on the ferry to Staten island. Gotta say this place has to be my favourite part of our brief little tootle around the island! Lovely books, records, cakes and teas! And lovely friendly staff. Well worth the trip
Really great deserts, coffee, tea and atmosphere are here! Thank owners for this place! Thank you for your organization and hospitality! The cafe is perfect place to stay to drink good coffee and rest with a book!
I love visiting this place on a lazy day and just reading while I sit and drink whatever I want from the menu. They have amazing prices so it’s not an expensive trip out. They are also right by the St. George train stop which works well since I travel by public transportation. They have every type of book by day and amazing local performances by night. Love this place.
I use to come here a lot! This place is awesome. The vibes are great. Tuna melts are everything. Coffee is great and mostly the people and services are top. Very friendly and welcoming. They have shows here sometimes and other events. Very warm place.
Best cafe on the whole island. Not open Mondays, but free live events most every Friday and Saturday. This is a small community run business. Fair-trade, organic coffee, huge selection of teas (probably 40-50 varieties). A bookstore starts just beyond the stage area and fills the rest of the store with some additional seating areas. Beyond that is a backyard garden patio, a little hidden gem. I used to work here, never had a problem with the place.
Everything Goes is a little slice of heaven located in Staten Island. Steps from the ferry terminal, this wonderful little coffee shop and bookstore has great vibes, and even better coffee and snacks! The staff are friendly and genuinely kind, and you can't go wrong with their tuna sandwich. Get it with the works on sourdough!
Wonderful and friendly staff. Great coffee. Made our Staten island trip so fun. (Staff very knowledgeable about ferry options). Great book prices too!
Great place for a quick bite, coffee, or some light reading. They sell used items such as books, records, movies etc. The ambience is a bit quirky which adds to its charm. Really enjoyed their tea, I recommend Eves elixir. It's absolutely refreshing.
The people who work here are all so nice, and the food is always amazing. I highly recommend the Mega Hummus. ETG Book Cafe has a great neighborhood atmosphere, and they frequently hold events and live music performances for the community. I hope to see you there!
One of my favorite places to relax qnd have some organic coffee, tea or any of the variety of baked goods. There are interesting books you can find. The place is clean and has a bathroom. The staff is very friendly. They have a variety of event you can plan to attend. LGBT friendly.
Katie and the ladies are amazing! Love this little book store from the backyard patio to the record player with old school music there is something for everyone! Try the eves elixir or the hot white chocolate with hip cream it’s to die for
The absolutely best place on earth 🌎. It doesn't matter who you are every single person is treated respectfully. The space, the staff, the food, the neighborhood stage, all of the activities and eventsevents, all of the hidden treasures and of course all of it's patrons make this positive peaceful place unlike any other. I am addicted to the Itigi bowl and the soups are heavenly! The coffees and teas are all fair trade.but beware, it you are a book lover..the selection is extensive and reasonably priced which makes record and books...irresistible!!!
Interesting selection of used books. Good coffee and tea selection. Live reading and performances. Reminds me of what cafes were probably like in the days of the beat poets. Walking distance from the SI Ferry, just at the major intersection of Victory Blvd and Bay St.
Quiet and lovely place. Kind and lovely staff. 🩷
Delightfully weird. It is like a time capsule in the best way. I’m pretty sure they are still protesting the war in Iraq. You will get old school 1990s cafe vibes
Incredible, cozy, and delicious time to spend many hours. The owners and workers are very pleasant and homey. This neighborhood store has been around for a while, and I'm happy to support it. Any time I have visitors come to the island, I always bring them here, and people are always happy leaving.
such a cute local place! very quaint and very sweet owners💕
First time visiting here. Loved it here. I was there tonight for Open Mic night and I got to meet Juli and Katie. Friendly environment and friendly people.
I’ve been in this venue a few times before getting the chance to guest host an open mic in the space tonight. Juli, James, and Wilder are a wonderful team of people keeping the love of community and literature going in their beautiful bookstore. They’re celebrating 20 years next October and I’m so excited to join their festivities!
We didn't have any beverages on our visit, but hopefully next time. We met James and the British lady (we didn't catch her name) and they were both very lovely. This is the kind of bookstore I wish were local to me. I really wanted to buy this chess for kids book, but, alas, I have nobody to play with me. They have various events, such as poetry readings, so look into that! **The one major downside is that it is NOT wheelchair accessible. (I also understand that in the boroughs it's often difficult to make things accessible because of space, it's still unfortunate because there is a sweet small garden in the back, and an area to play chess inside.... All that being said, it was an absolute delight!
Lovely place! It has all that we love . Books and coffee. The personnel who work there are so kind and reliable. We had the chance to take a look at the whole bookstore and its beautiful garden. A section for German and Spanish books is also avaliable
Staff were super friendly and chatted with us about our trip and where we were from. Book selection was great and affordable and the chai latte was delightful.
Not new and shiny but rather quite the opposite in all the best ways possible. Lived in, full, thoughtful, mature. A cozy quiet space to pause for a moment and take a deep breath.
Last of the used book stores in Staten Island, a fun, well run by amiable staff, cafe with tables for gaming and reading. An enjoyable atmosphere where various events are held, see the schedule on the website, worth a stop.
Cozy bookstore cafe with nice vibe and friendly people. Coffee was delicious. Nice pastries. There are lots of books to browse thru, excellent prices. Some records and cds. It was a nice visit on a rainy afternoon. The first floor is accessible, however, lots of small tables and chairs so getting around requires patience. There are steps leading up to the other spaces, and the garden in the back. Paid street parking.
This place is the best. Great music, cool books and records and great coffee and pastries too. A staten island staple. One of my favorite places we have. I moved and I miss it :(
I've been coming to ETG for literally over two decades, and I have always absolutely loved it there. They have incredible drinks and food, and the variety of vintage books and music they have is out of this world. I always leave with something good! Just recently, they granted me use of the space for a Death Cafe, and they were incredible hosts. I'm looking forward to coming back again!
Great coffee, great tea (especially their homemade Eve’s Elixer- which you can buy the tea leaves for, and make it at home) great cakes and cookies from the weekly farmers market. Good selection of books and records (you just have to do some digging) and a great little outdoor patio for the summer time.
I’ve been going to this bookstore for years to say hi to my neighbors, and enjoy a little peace and quiet. They have great cafe assortment of pastries, food, drinks, and I love their night events too! Katie is the most warm hearted person you will meet on Staten Island!
It's rare that I find a bookstore/cafe that has more than the basic croissant and muffin fare. This place has real, filling food though. I had the ETG salad with tuna and my friend got hummus with carrots. A+ hummus, and deliciousness all around. The bookstore itself is stocked with a wonderful variety of subjects and genres. It's not the biggest bookstore, but it packs a lot into it's shelves. There are also CDs and LPs for the music lovers (and speaking of music the playlist they had going was great).
If you need some morning caffeine, visit this gorgeous book cafe on the edge of the neighborhood at 208 Bay St., where Steve has been doling out coffee and offering up tasty baked goods (including many vegan-friendly treats) since 2005. His cafe also serves as a bit of a meeting place for the neighborhood, which he said is a close-knit one. Everything Goes is also Staten Island's largest used bookstore. There are several rooms worth of titles in the back -- and it's home to a stage for local performers. *****
Cute spot wish it was in a better location but love the vibes and love their elixir tea!!! 🍵
💘 this place. Calming and cheery. Nice people. Great bagels and books.
A little gem in the neighborhood. You can get good deals on some out of print books. Large assortment. Small section on free items. Coffee, teas and snacks and you can sit down to munch.
Hired staff is pretty cool. Coffee is decent. Nice space in the back to listen to their vinyl collection. Friends and coffee Yay!
Nice to have a funky neighbourhood coffee shop to go to. Heavy on the vegan/soy/agave/etc but I guess there are people who want that. It's a far cry from its former days as a rabbit warren of nasty junk.
Aint got nothing to do? Tired of tv? Come down here. Books are books. The fare is good (i love eve's elixir) and they have performances. I just left a performance with a live band that was pretty good. With free wifi and pay to play computers it beets going to the library.
Amazing place to hang out when you have nothing to do and just want to relax with some vintage bookstore cafe. Great vintage bookstore that sells books (of course) and records with a nice, quaint cafe. They also have a stage for live shows too which I never had a chance to enjoy. Located near the Staten Island ferry so people who are visiting the island and missed the ferry should definitely take some time out and visit the island a bit instead of waiting for the next boat to leave ;)
I really like this place. I think it is a not known gem. I discovered while looking for cafes. I first went there with my 10 years old. She loved it. It is like a warm and mistic place. From outside you wouldn't expect anything special. In a weekday when we went it was almost empty. The staff is really warm, they have vegan and gluten free cakes. I took my two kids on a weekend and it was busier. The place is not fancy at all. I found a great book from 1970s which I am very happy about. It had a note in the cover, which makes it even more special. I gave 4 stars as this place just needs more room. Or a bit more comfortable sitting options. It is very welcoming but not enough room for friends or sitting and enjoying for longer periods.
Such a great spot to go read at! They have good coffee options and tons of books, I love to come down and buy 1 or 2 and then just perch by the window and read for the afternoon. The people are lovely, and they have some vintage items like records and comic books as well. My favorite haunt on Bay Street!
Can't use a card unless $10 or more. Decent customer service, "C-" coffee rating
A nice place for coffee and books. Prices seem reasonable and the staff seems friendly lots of small events and nice atmosphere.
The bookstore itself is wonderful, but the coffee is subpar.
If you prefer antique books, this is not the store for you. The few books older than 1900 are firmly locked in a glass cabinet and the seller always seems too busy to open it for you. I waited 20 minutes for her to open it only to leave in frustration due to the incompetence a person who is confused as to whether she is running a cafe, performance venue, or a bookshop.
So my boyfriend and I really wanted to like this place. We'd been looking for used bookstores on the island to buy from and hang out at and were excited when we found this one. The ambiance and decor was really cool and we enjoyed browsing the selection. When we walked in we were greeted warmly and felt welcomed. We spent about 20-30 minutes browsing before other people started arriving and setting up on the stage. Cool they do events too, we thought. We decided to order drinks and a snack before we headed out though people were now starting to ask us about the show they were setting up for. We didn't realize there was one and no one mentioned it when they spoke to us when we came in and told them it was our first visit. This was fine and we were even considering staying for the event. The woman (she seemed like the owner or manager) comes up to us as we're eating to basically try and guilt us for not paying for the show that was to start in an hour that was never mentioned to us. She tells us everyone else has paid on entry. When we arrived no one else was there and there was no indication of any event. We also had been there for at least 40 minutes at this point and were sitting down with the food we'd just paid for and did not have any cash. Asking us to pay for the show is understandable but the way she asked was rather aggressive and accusatory and made us rather uncomfortable. We opted to finish our food and leave. Unsure that we'll be back.
Speaking as a musician who's played here, I can say that the owners have issues with diversity and actively play the erasure game. They printed and hung large posters with a version of my bio they had edited to remove my decades of history and make me look like a teenager on a power trip, thereby lying to the entire community about who I am and what I do. It was humiliating. They had specifically told me they were publishing something different. They also asked me to change the name I've been using for nearly two decades, a reference to having been disparaged for being gender variant and standing up against abuse. They told me they wanted family members of mine to come to the show even though I was 40 at the time and most of my songs were about hardships I've been through because my family of origin horrifically abused me, subjecting me to hate motivated violence. They also told me they were using a photo I'd sent them to promote the show but instead used one they had found somewhere and edited in order to misrepresent me and, again, mislead people about who I am and what I do, to erase the anti-violence protest element of it and make me look like someone who comes from a more privileged situation and complies with stereotypes associated with their assigned gender. More erasure. And there was more. There was a passive-aggressive, "We'll pretend you're welcome here but you're not," kind of vibe to it all, even though they had asked me to play there. And I played for free, at a loss because of the expenses we musicians incur in order to play shows. I wanted to support their bookstore, which I had liked at first. I came back a week after the show to try and talk to them about this and ask why these choices were made. They had been friendly enough that I thought this kind of conversation might be possible and could be productive. While I was there, one owner sent an email to someone who had been at the show, telling him I was looking for him and asking for his email address, neither of which were true. The email sounded creepy and made me look bad. I went out to the courtyard to finish my coffee, but then the other owner came and found me and asked me to leave, no reason given. I was really nice and did absolutely nothing wrong, absolutely nothing to deserve this. My only crime was not complying with gender stereotypes, not being in contact with my biological family who was violent to me, speaking out against violence, and having overcome hardships they probably couldn't even imagine. Erasure of artists is a common practice, part of the anti-diversity agenda we see far too much of. I wish these people were actually as nice as they seem. I wish I didn't have to write this. But I have to stand up for not just myself but all of us who are being erased and subjected to bigotry.
