One of the best (if not THE best) sushi restaurants in the Chicagoland area. The sashimi was astonishingly fresh and melted on the tongue. It was paired exquisitely with customized sauces, and the presentation was gorgeous. The staff was also superb, kind, and attentive. This place is sure to impress for all occasions. Can’t recommend Starfish enough!

This is one of the best restaurants in the northern burbs without a doubt. The sushi was super fresh, bulgogi juicy and flavorful and the chocolate mousse exceptionally balanced. I hope more people know about this place! Coming back very soon, to try other things on the menu. Wonderful ambience too!

This has been the best customer service I've ever experienced. Our server made us feel more than welcome, she was the nicest and most attentive lady. The food was just spectacular; the O-Toro Sashimi was to die for as well as the Shitake Mushroom Chive Maki. This is the kind of place I want to take my loved ones to. We spent around $70 per person including cocktails and desserts.

Starfish Sushi is an upscale sushi restaurant. The food is outstanding. The fish is fresh. The rolls are flavorful and imaginative and well prepared. Waitstaff is friendly and provide good service. Definitely a favorite place of mine.

What a wonderful restaurant! The sushi was absolutely the best in the area. The service was great and the presentation was stunning. Mason was our friendly server and he was the best. He explained the dishes and the embellishments of the dish. We will ABSOLUTELY be back! Bon Appetite!

I love this restaurant! The food was amazing. I haven’t had sushi this great since I was in Japan. Due to my job having me travel, I had to spend my birthday alone, and the owner and staff were so awesome and nice to me. Thank you again for your kindness. I will come back here if I am ever traveling to this area again 🩷

What an amazing experience at starfish on this holiday weekend. We ordered several appetizers received some complementary dishes to taste, and the assorted sashimi was incredibly fresh. Service was phenomenal as usual even though they were very busy don’t hesitate to come to this place. It is absolutely fantastic. The chef described the sushi to the tea and we even received a premium sashimi with flakes of gold which were absolutely fabulous.

First time here! We went for our anniversary, super intimate and cute. Service was great, presentation was nice, and food was amazing. Definitely was a great first time experience and I'd highly recommend it!

Was in the area traveling and decided to stop by for some dinner. The food was absolutely delicious! One of the best bowls of Shoyu Ramen I've ever had! Drink selection was great and they had plenty great sake choices. Service was excellent, I had sat at the bar and the bartender was attentive and polite. Prices were very fair for the quality of the food. Would not hesitate to go back if I'm ever back in the area!

i've been bringing my family & friends here for close to 2 years, we all love Starfish Sushi. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ sushi chef right in the neighborhood, with a bespoke menu & fresh fish of course. don-bu-ri is an excellent option for your non-sushi friends (or seabass entree! plenty of options) pokemon is fun for kids & the service is kind & attentive

I ordered 3 sushi rolls, split some appetizers and had the sake shooter flight. Everything was high quality, and it was all delicious. Wait and host staff were friendly and efficient. Very enjoyable experience and I will definitely be back.

After new ownership..absolutely one of the best sushi places in town.. To be honest, before the food wasn't always that great.. The atmosphere was always good, but now the quality of the food is just outstanding...from sushi, rolls, upon, donkatsu, dessert, we tried this and that, and couldn't find fault in a single dish... I think we found our new favorite spot in town.

Really impressed! Very good and fast service. Fantastic quality of sushi. Some inventive rolls too. I've never had one with crispy rice before but now I'm hooked. Sexy lady roll was a favorite. Portions are good too, this place isn't exactly a bargain but you do get a lot of good quality food for the money. Four rolls fed two with leftovers.

Starfish got a new owner and everything was upgraded. Foods and services are amazing. And currently, they offer promotional fish menu with $40 per person it is crazy offer. I visited here with my colleagues on Tuesday, Wednesday and brought my family on Sunday as well.

One of our favorite sushi restaurants and we haven’t had a chance to come here since pre-pandemic days! I had the vegetarian sushi combination entree, which included miso soup and a salad. All was wonderful, though I’d opt for the salad dressing on the side next time. My husband ordered his favorite - Maguro Truffle. Seared tuna sashimi with black truffle oil. It might be his favorite dish in the world!

A very elegant place with some rustic vibes. The staff was very attentive accepting and all above kind. The food was delicious and portions were perfect.

First time ordering from this place as me and my girlfriend have been wanting to try it and let me tell you, they went beyond preparing our order! The food was amazing and probably some of the best food I’ve had. They even included some extra stuff which we are grateful for! Will definitely keep getting food from here and glad to say we found a new spot!

From the moment we walked in, we felt so welcomed. Mason, our server, greeted us with such great energy and immediately walked us through the menu and the specials of the day. While we were still deciding what to order, he surprised us with a complimentary appetizer, which was such a thoughtful touch! The bluefin toro we ordered was absolutely stunning — beautifully presented, incredibly delicate, and most importantly, delicious. My family also tried the Baby Shark Maki, Salmon Obsession Maki, and the Sushi & Maki Bento Box. Every dish was fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. It truly felt like a perfect dinner from start to finish. Just when we thought the experience couldn’t get any better, Mason asked about our meal while we were paying and then surprised us with a complimentary plate of Super White tuna as a welcome gift for first-time guests! He even took the time to explain how it was prepared — super professional and clearly passionate about what he does. Fantastic food, outstanding service, and such a warm, welcoming atmosphere. My wife and I went here recently with my brother and his kids and it was wonderful! The staff are incredibly kind and accommodating. They even brought out a soup I could eat after I let them know I wouldn’t be ordering anything because of my intense and specific dietary restrictions and let me know everything that was in it. It’s an especially great place to bring kids because the atmosphere is a lot of fun, there’s a good kids menu, and the kids bento boxes come with this adorable dessert sushi with Rice Krispie, fruit roll up, and a gummy fish or gummy worm. Big fan!

We really like this place. We need more small businesses like this around. How often can you see and talk to the owner directly? Not too often. I’m really happy they are doing well and striving. The food is delicious and we really like the vibe inside and outside. Highly recommend!

Food was great. Sushi was great. Had a very good experience. Definitely would not hesitate to come back again. Much improved from a few years back.

Still pretty decent for sushi. ‐------- Fast forward a year, and we actually eat here quite frequently for lunch. Sushi is still good, but service has taken a significant dip. The older woman working (possibly one of the owners?) is very off-putting. We've had her more as a server for multiple visits now, and it always feels like we're hassling her. We noticed a lot of the normal servers are gone, which is a shame. ---- Had a nice lunch here with my hubby on one of our days off. The sushi is good but on the pricier end. Service was friendly, although the robot server was a bit gimmicky. Didn't seem like it was adding value. Overall, the food was tasty and lots of dry ice for dramatic effect. I will likely return only for special occasions due to pricing, but the sushi tasted great.

Starfish Sushi is our go to in the north burbs for sushi! Food: The fish for nigiri / sashimi is all pretty fresh. Last time we went, we got the chirashi bowl, and it’s very pretty loaded with a selection of fish. This time, a couple pieces could have been fresher (e.g., salmon), but usually when I have this, all the pieces are very fresh. It’s the best deal if you order it for lunch! I also love the nabe yaki udon because the broth is so flavorful and the noodles themselves are 100. You can’t go wrong with their signature maki - they will definitely wow. Service: very thoughtful and kind servers, although it can be a bit slow at times (probably due to lack of seasoned servers these days). It was my dad’s birthday, and they even brought us ice cream with a candle when we didn’t order dessert! The restaurant is clean and open, and there’s dark mood lighting. Would be great for a large party (lots of open tables) or a date (more intimate booths available). There is also outdoor seating in the summer, but those seats basically look at the parking lot.

Comfortable, trendy, warm atmosphere. Large menu with lots of options (including drinks) for everyone. We ordered the Dragon Fire for an appetizer and the Supreme Chef’s selection of sushi/sashimi and Caterpillar Rolls (California rolls with avocado and fancy fish eggs). The flavors were spectacular and the presentation was extremely well done. Friendly staff as well.

I do recomend Starfish Sush for Lunch or Diner. We enjoid it very well. Food is fresh and taisty, Serving cold be improved. Had to ask for lemon 3 times and water is city chlorinated water. Please invest in a good water filter, remove Chlorine from water.

Went on a Monday night for dinner to celebrate anniversary. First time here. Food was good but service was the worst. Everything took forever and it wasn't super busy. It was a Monday. All the rolls we ordered and the Spicy tuna hand rolls and my son's bento were very good though. Wish the service was better.

I was told we hit an off night and maybe training some new staff. We waited about 15 min past our reservation, then got seated and did not see anyone for almost 25 min. I would have left, but needed to kill time. I got drinks from the bar myself. They were very sorry and brought us a free app that they chose. However, the 3 rolls we got did not seem great. We often saw many orders ready, but no one to take them. One of our dishes was a crispy tuna rice roll, but was hard and stuck to the plate. I was told to try again by friends and never like that. Maybe we will and am sure it is not like that normally, since they have been there for many years.

We tried this restaurant for the first time for Valentines Day. I'm not sure why this restaurant has such high reviews because we were disappointed with the sushi, which tasted slightly fishy, and the cocktails, which were off on the ratios (notibly tasting of lime and simple syrup). The table was also a bit sticky with food residue. Altogether, it made me question the quality of the food... I ordered a rainbow roll (my go-to sushi order) and though it matched the menu description (I should've read more closely), it was not at all a standard "rainbow roll." It was filled with tuna/salmon tartar which had gave a terrible mouthfeel with no reprieve from any other texture. I mention this to caution you to read menu descriptions fully in case there're other standard rolls they've altered/ruined. Honestly, there are so many much better sushi restaurants at the same price point in the area! Maybe the restaurant just couldn't handle the Valentines crowd but we won't be back.

Ever since the ownership changed, everything has gone downhill. The floors are sticky, and the sushi plates even had fingerprints from the staff. I asked for a fork and knife, but it took so long that when they finally arrived, they were dirty. They put dry ice on every single plate, but it doesn’t look pretty—just messy and unnecessary. Most of the food came out lukewarm or already cold, and once you notice the poor hygiene, it’s hard to trust the sushi or sashimi at all. All the rolls are drowned in mayo and coated with flour. Overall, a very disappointing experience.

We had an 8:00 reservation on Valentine’s Day and there was a line out the door of people who had reservations that they could not accommodate people were calling and they couldn’t even let them check in cause they were so busy. I am guessing they overbooked. Very disappointing!! That late at night on Valentine’s Day you can’t get in anywhere so we ended up having to eat bar food somewhere on a day that was supposed to be a nice date night dinner!! Won’t go back!!
